10+ finished series to read this winter + fantasy books that i want to read (winter tbr) 

I just finished Little Thieves last night and loved it! The first book reads a bit like a standalone (or at least the adventure we're on in the book wraps up well) and the next book is a new adventure but same cast :') It was a little rough to get into it, possibly because of my concentration issues due to this sluuuump, but i hit a point in the book where i was like 'oh here it is' and from that moment i was so in love :')

Kiss of deception was exceptional and I hate how booktube abandoned it after the firs book for no reason . Such a wonderful classic young adult story

It’s worth noting that Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) is just a fantastic writer, and everything she touches turns to gold. Which is nice.

hey, here from the near-distant future to say ninth house isn't a duology, it's an incomplete trilogy! someone asked leigh bardugo almost a year ago now on good reads if there will be a third book and this is what she had to say: "Yes! Ok, so I originally wanted this to be a much longer series. Think 12 books of Alex Stern investigating supernatural crime and corruption. But these stories take a tremendous amount of time to research and write, so 12 became 5, and then 5 became 3. My intention right now is to keep this a trilogy and that's the way I've planned the plot of the third book. Hopefully the wait won't be quite as long for the final installment. (thank you for your patience!)" so yeah! Here's to the third Alex Stern book that'll probably be out in like 2025 :)

immediately added villains and virtues to my tbr. made me think of the manga Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle, where the villains are trying to villain but aren’t necessarily always great at it / have mellowed out.

I read Ember in the Ashes a few months ago, and I have to say it was one of the BEST beginnings to a series I have read in a loooooong time. Have the next ones on my TBR to get to ASAP. I loved the world, the characters, and the stakes. The writing was also excellent. I recommend it to a lot of people who want a finished series.

The Kiss of Deception is one of my favorite series of all time, I am so happy it’s getting some recognition!

I LOVE LEGENDBORN it’s my favorite series but sheesh it feels like I’ve been waiting forever for this book thinking it’s the last one 😭😭 it’s fun to know there’s much more to come though!

I'm SO happy to finally see Villains and Virtues get the love it deserves, it's my top read of the year and I can't stop recommending it!! A. K Caggiano deserves all the love for it and any fantasy romance reader should have it on their radar

I loooooooved the Winternight Trilogy! One of my favorite reads.

I'm so glad you talked about Ember in the Ashes!!! I absolutely LOVED that series (actually 4 books, not 3 🤭) but I never see anyone talking about it. It's flawless!

My favorite finished series has to be Scythe by Neal Shusterman. The world-building and the characters are all exceptional ( If you like dystopia). I'd also recommend Sisters of Salt by Erin A. Craig. There are actually two books out and one that comes out in 2026 but they can be read as stand-alone as the books tell the stories of different sisters from the same family. The first book is described as a retelling of the twelve dancing princesses but horror and it's amazing.

One thing that really helps me when a long time goes by between books in a series is when booktubers do either recaps or like what you do with the wall and the pictures that catches you up. So please keep doing that!!

Oh gosh I'm so happy you update videos or one of the few I regularly watch and love how you can describe books with and without spoilers!!!!!

I'm currently reading my first Sanderson - The Stormlight Archive. a few days ago I finished "The Way of Kings" and gosh... I fell in love. For me this is the peak of fantasy. Now I'm starting the second volume, something amazing. the character designs are so unique - Kaladin is probably my favorite literary hero at the moment. Besides, Dalinar, Jasnah and even Navani have a lot of potential. in love with fantasy again🥰

Throne in the Dark was a great read. I finished the 1st book, ready to take on the remaining two. Damien and Amma are so funny together 😅 “Resting villain face” is epic 🤍

The Legendborn news was so exciting! I am caught up and I am excited to read more of this series! I am currently reading Fireborne right now!

Kiss of Deception was really fun! I would personally recommend reading it before Dance of Thieves because I think it does have some spoilers for Kiss of Deception, especially if they're read close together so there isn't enough time to forget lol. I think it refers back to a couple big plot events and the inclusion/mention of certain characters in their current state would let the reader know some of what happens in Kiss of Deception.

I never read the Shatter Me series but picked up This Woven Kingdom a couple of months ago and just finished the second on, These Infinite Threads,” and I love them! The pace is good and they just make me so excited! Definitely recommend! Excited for the third one in February!

Thank you for the recs! I love The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix. Book 1 Sabriel is my favourite and the magic system is on point, definitely worth all the bells and whistles.

YES The Last Hours gave me major Winter vibes, especially Chain of Iron. Thorns was pretty good for me but I did feel like a lot of punch was held back. Cassie did say it was going to be A LOT sadder but then C*vid hit and she said she couldn’t write a very tragic ending.

So happy about the shout out for Throne in the Dark! I love that trilogy SO much! Did you know that a spin-off standalone following a character barely mentioned in the series came out (called "Bound To Fall") and that the author is writing another spin-off standalone as well?👀

The Bear and the Nightingale is quite slow but WONDERFUL and the intrigue is developed constantly throughout. Books 2 and 3 are much faster paced (and also fabulous) and left me breathless with the twists and turns of the plot. I've never immediately started rereading a series since I was little and reading Harry Potter or anything by Tamora Pierce, but as soon as I finished Book 3 I started rereading The Bear and the Nightingale.

90% were already on my tbr thanks to you, guess this is a sign I have to get started on themm 🥰

I usually plan what im going to read - this was the first book in a while I just dived into blind. I couldn’t put it down! It’s such an imaginative, wintery hidden gem! Snowy forests, wolves, and magical libraries… It’s also sort of a standalone! There’s a second book (I haven’t read yet) but the plot is different. Highly recommend to anyone reading this :)🌲

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is sooo good! Thank you for the Legendborn update! Has it been optioned yet? I wouldn't be surprised if she's re-strategizing how to present the narrative in a way that could be seamlessly adapted into a streaming or TV mini-series.

It's older but I just finished book 5 of the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews and they are just really really fun. Cool battles, cool magic system, a different mystery in each book and sort of a "monster of the week" flavour that I really enjoy. The first book is Magic Bites.

I read Little Thieves. Loved it. Had no idea there were more. It worked as a standalone for me.

Just chiming in to thank you for mentioning Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Laini Taylor is my favourite author, everything she writes reads like liquid starlight and honey. Both of her book series own a very special place in my heart.

The Serpent & The Wings of Night series and House of Pounding Hearts series were good, I devoured A Court of Shadows series and they're all on KU. I was craving a classic fantasy series and while these might not have fit that bill exactly I'm excited to give your list here a go that I haven't read yet! I read and re-read A Darker Shade of Magic series, i loved it.

Highly recommend reading the OG Goose Girl story before Little Thieves. Super good book but the hints to the OG story made it super cool!!

KISS OF DECEPTION IS MY FAVORITE SERIES EVER when i saw it on the thumbnail of this video I screamed!!! ur one of my fav booktubers and no one talks about this enough so it was a real treat to hear you talk about it (...maybe do a whole video about each book...) ok now: SPOILERS . . . Ok, perf. this series threw me for a loop bc i was like ooh a cute little romance and then i was like dang a love triangle (and one of them wants to kill her) and then its like BOOM and you go straight into action and political drama. the way that it is written is so mystical and beautiful and i love it so much. also, when you find out that this takes place in the FUTURE?? jaw. dropped. it killed me. i literally started the series over as soon as i finished it to pull out the little teases to pur modern world. also i love the romance and how rafe accepts lia's agency while also caring about her safety and when he becomes too overbearing lia immediately stops him and doesnt put up with his bs. i love the 'magic' system and how lia learns to trust herself... I love everything in it

The second Bear and Nightingale book has much more of a story to it. I still need to read the third one. And I want to try Fireborne one day. I read the first Smoke and Bone; it was an interesting world, but a little heavy on the romantasy for me 🫣. I need a really good Nutcracker book.
