Stole it from humanity. Humans in Halo are the degenerated descendents of humans that were concurrent with the Forerunners. Forerunners got passed over for the mantle in favour of humans. Forrunners fought a war. Won. Left humanity to regress and then blasted the remaining Precursors into fine dust... which then became the Flood.

@@galbert117 The Forerunners went on a genocidal tantrum rampage against the Precursors in about 10,000,000 BC, and the Forerunners were first sentient and creared by the Precursors in about 15,000,000 BCE. Humanity was around long enough that they were determined as worthy for the Mantle of Responsibility before the genocide, so before 10,000,000 BCE. Then the Forerunners sort of just existed for the next few million years, losing quite a bit of their more-exotic tech (they had stuff like probability manipulation shields) and going through God-only-knows how many upheavals, civil wars, accidents and just plain political shenanigans, but they never collapsed, and they slowly expanded their colonized worlds and developed their technology until it is what we know now as Forerunner tech. Ancient Humanity, no real facts are available for what happened to them after the Precursor genocide of 10,000,000 BCE, but it's safe to assume they handled it in their own way. A few million years of stuff happened, presumably. The next concrete fact is that a faction of Humanity rediscovered space abd Slipspace travel at around 1,150,000 BCE and established an interstellar empire if unknown size and technology level. Then there was a series of technological Dark Ages which an unknown number of Human civilizations rose and fell across the galaxy. Humanity lost a lot of tech and knowledge then, including on what planet they originally evolved on. The Ancient Human Empire (AHE) from the Forerunner trilogy came about in about 150,000 BCE after rediscovering interstellar travel. (This is essentually a recap of the Human-Forerunner War) They expanded across and around the Orion arm (most likely to avoid or flee from Forerunner influence), colonized worlds, conquered some here and there, allied with the San Shyuum at some point, and went on to rival the Forerunners in most technological fields on their own. Then they discovered a Precursor ship with some strange powder on it. They tested it under the strictest conditions until they were absolutely sure it was safe. They found out it made their pets/livestock, the Pheru, more-tame and likable, so the powder began to be sold. It led to some mutations but these were brushed off as natural selection. Then, cannibalism happened, mutations escalated, and people handling the Pheru got infected. Soon other Humans and San Shyuum got infected, and by the time it got large enough to warrant the attention of the galactic government, it was too late and the Flood were everywhere. What followed was at least 300 years of attempted purging and cleanup in which the vast majority of AHE worlds got infected and glassed, and being drastically short on space, the AHE fled to remote backwater Forerunner territory to stall the Flood and to clean infected Forerunner worlds. The Forerunners saw this as barbaric unprovoked war (the AHE didn't explain the Flood since they knew a Forerunner would rather die than trust a Human, and that time arguing only allows the Flood more time to spread). What followed was over a millenium of brutal war, with the Majority of the attacking done to the AHE by the Ecumene. Humanity and San Shyuum developed weapons to bypass Forerunner defenses and get exponential KD ratios, but there were too many Forerunners and the Ecumene had too much resources to spend, so they were pushed back. The Forerunners sieged Charum Hakkor without any meaningful gains for at least 53 years before signing a back deal with the San Shyuum in which they would just quarantine and demilitarize them, not devolve them in exchange for a way to get around the defenses of Charum Hakkor. The Human-Forerunner War ended n 106,445 BCE IIRC.

Dustyn Miller It actually is called Neural Physics. Basically the Precursors saw everything as alive, and as such were able to bend the universe to their will. At least, I think that is what Neural Physics is.

Old Ones arw kind of closer to Precursors, in that they have reality-fucking superpowers and they created hyperadvanced sentient species, (Eldar and Krork) and the Precursors were the ones to Create the Forerunners and Humans. The Forerunners, being able to bend reality to their will to a degree using science, are more-similar to Necrons

@@sicarius6501 The forerunners could probably stomp just about everyone except the Necrons and chaos, ( Chaos itself, not it's followers ) and maybe even chaos if all it's worshipers are dead.

Most of the factions could just be comoosed and turned into promethians and made to fight for the forerunners against the bigger threats. Chaos wouldn't really be a threat because people forget that there is already a 40k race that cab close the warp. The forerunners should be able to do the same.

Mostly the warhammer 40 K factions. And by mostly, I mean, the only people that could save Warhammer 40 K is Chaos itself.

Oh dude, Forerunners are very very powerful. They can directly compete War in heaven Necrons. They have mastery over 14 dimensions, can tilt the axis of whole galaxies or use them as weapons, their ship engines can produce so much power you can see multiverses in them (yep it's mentioned in one of the Halo comics when UNSC is trying to reverse engineered the damaged forerunner engine), can create horrifying weapons to destroy the whole galaxy or universe as a whole (Halo is one of those weapons), created Dyson Sphere with pocket dimensions that covers a whole solar system (Oynx is an example) and much more like Time travel. You can find more about this in Halo comics like Silitririum. And yes they are that powerful

There was no cure, it was a ploy by the Flood to make the Forerunners think there was so they would waste their time looking for it.

It's because the said "cure" involves injecting people that are designated as basically sacrificial lambs with a specific gene/virus, designed to alter their target (after they were basically sent to the Flood and get infected by those Flood) to other Flood instead. So, yeah. There's your "cure", courtesy of Ancient Humanity.

The reapers have no place in the same vs the forerunners, or the necrons are in.

Remove the Reapers. They couldn't even take on the Covenant at their height and arguably couldn't even take on the UNSC at the height of the number of vessels THEY had.

@@kriegscommissarmccraw4205 Their tech is based on the same magic-like quantum neural network that was used by the Precursors. The HALOs fire through Slipspace, and could easily damage the Necrons. They could also be tuned to attack the Warp and its inhabitants, especially since the Forerunners designed them to attack At Least 17 Dimensions of Reality (Slipspace is made of At Least 13). The Forerunners also use similar Technologies to the Tombworlds in their Multidimensional Shield Worlds (see Onyx and Etran Harborage). There are also At Least 459 Shield Worlds, all of which could Protect those inside from the Entirety of the Effects of Firing the HALO Array. A little-known fact: The Flood only defeated the Forerunners due to their Access to Precursor Technology.

The Necrons were formerly organic beings converted to a machine species by the biotransference forges. How those forges did that is never specified - all the lore states is that it the tech specifications came from the reality bending, god like C'tan, and so might not entirely play by the rules of physics. Leadership caste Necrons use some kind of personality engram encoding to retain their intelligence and personality form the time of flesh, but again exactly how it works is not specified. There is no basis upon which to state whether or not the Necrons would be effected by the Halo Rings, since none of the fictional technologies involved are particularly clearly explained (it is all pretty much space magic when you get right down to it) and exactly how Necron consciousness architecture would interact with Halo Ring energy waves is not discussed since those two things belong to different IPs with different fictional histories owned by different companies. If you really want a definitive answer, you would need to persuade Games Workshop and the current owners of the Halo IP to undertake a cross over project....

@@michaelhamar3305 Forerunner have no awnser to C'tan they destroy galaxies. The Necrons can destroy stars as the fleets of Forerunner jump in and wipe them out. Necrons don't die so their numbers stay the same. Flood can't infect them cause they are not AI they are like robots for low level. And top level they have their real minds so no effect. They couldn't take over Forerunner in machines so Necrons are immune

Dj Cuevas Exactly my point. “Not all they’re cracked up to be” They failed, flipped the board and basically wiped themselves out. Even more problematic was the fact that they left some alive AFTER making the decision to wipe them out with the Halo arrays, a stupid mistake born of their overconfidence in their ability to control it despite the fact that it was metaphorically sodomising them. I don’t think the Flood is as dangerous as the Halo fanboys like to think it is but still a credible threat regardless.

@@GenerationFilms Not all Saiyans can destroy a planet. Sure, some like Vegeta and Goku can, but the civilization as a whole isn't on that level. Everything Goku, Vegeta, and the other planet-busting Saiyans went through was pretty crazy. I'd wager that the average Saiyan could, at the most, severely damage a continent with a single blast, using up all their power (and even then, they can't really breathe in space, nor did they unlock space flight on their own).
