Crazy sock lady has great videos here on RU-vid for basic socks and the different ways you can make them (dpns, 9 inch circulars, magic loop etc). I have to make those Squirrel socks once I'm more confident in colourwork 😍

I learned how to knit socks from Summer Lee's I'm So Basic Sock pattern. It was so helpful! The rest is history - I've made so many pairs since then! One of my favorite items to knit!

I like that you gave examples of toe up and cuff down socks. I am a cuff down sock knitter, but there are a few patterns you showed that are toe up that make me want to give it a try.

I started with sock knitting because in my head I was like, if I can knit a sock I can knit anything, then I got into clothing & my sock mojo was non existent & I had this full drawer full of sock yarn just staring at me.. but now it’s back & I’m so glad. I have that 52 weeks of sock book coming tomorrow so I’m excited for that! I think the cooler weather here in PA definitely helped because I’ve been wearing my two pair of hand knit socks everyday lol

So many cute patterns 🥹 I’m making my first pair of socks right now! I’m using the comfort socks pattern by Ozetta and loving the result. But I think I’d like to try a fingering weight sock next - the I’m so basic sock seems like the perfect pattern for me! You’ve inspired me 💯

I really enjoyed your selection and just added a bunch of patterns to my library :) I also really like the hermione’s everyday socks pattern by Erica Lüder who has a couple of free sock patterns. My favourite way to knit socks is cuff down, but toe up is great if you’re trying to use up all of the yarn or don’t have a lot. Happy socktober!

The cascade heritage is merino, don't worry! I wonder if the other sock yarn you find rougher is Corriedale? It's super common for sock blends because it's a long wool stable and super durable :)

Some very nice sock patterns, thanks for showing them! I made my first socks with Susan B Anderson's How I Make My Socks pattern. Recommend for first socks. Just made the Indulgence Socks - a fingering and mohair held together pattern. Will be great for winter. I like an afterthought heel for contrasting heels or when just doing a tube, and I use the RU-vid video by Kirby Wirby for a true cut-in afterthought heel. I have always made my socks concurrently, but not on the same needle. Guess I just get bored and want to have 2 socks at different stages to work on alternately. But that way I never get 2nd sock syndrome.

I'm so inspired now! I have an addition to your list though. It's called the Kitty Ankles Socks by Inorgaknit on ravelry. It's a very easy colorwork sock that's so cute!

My favourite pattern sites are Lovecrafts, Yarnspirations and the Cascade site also has good patterns. Recently found Rhys Flower knits, but definitely also like Ravelry and Drops for patterns too.
