I’m French myself, and appreciate what you bring in and your inspirations. Yet just putting out there. Bring in the unpredictable. I feel that your house Valentina is beautiful but a bit too safe and predictable. A exemple ....your lamp behind you could have an exciting flea market old pedestal or a unpredictable lamp shade. Its too store bought overly matched. Please take it as a constructive observation. An exciting space should keep one’s eyes surprised 😮
As an alternate perspective, the background to a video should be blended and predictable. If your eyes get “too many surprises” it’s chaotic and distracts.
So nice to listen to someone so enthusiastic about encouraging others to embrace what is them. I've got others in my face at present bombarding me with what I should do, what I should have, how I should go about it... it all makes me very tired and bitchy. But I have a few precious objects of furniture and accessories that have all jumped out at me, and I have a dream bedroom, and I have a vision... and they can't see through my eyes. Some of us walking through this life come alive with color, and must have color, while others are too afraid, or don't know how to apply color. So thank you. Question: you said you'd put a link down below for the washed walls, am I missing it?
My brother lived in the burgundy section of France amongst the vineyard and hot air balloons . So when I think of French country ... tiles and terra-cotta roofs , fireplaces , gorgeous stone and chunky wood come to mind . Thanks for being you and all the wonderful design ideas . I love your passion for all things French and you have a unique way of making everyone smile.
I love your passion and excitement. I wish I had your energy. I am loving this week so much. I thought my French styled home was out of fashion but I have learned to love it all over again this week and will be freshening it up with some of your ideas. Thank you so much. I love everything you do.

i have such a passion for interior design.. this french style is amazing. i got a really cute apartment in my old european city and i cant wait to turn it into my perfectly decorated palace😍
You are soooooooooo beautiful Valentina inside and out!!!! Omg your eyes, your hair, your style are gorgeous!!!!!! I feel soooooo fortunate to have found your channel I just can't even tell you how much it means to me💞💝🌺🌹I feel like I have permission to delve into my creative artistic ways and express myself and help my husband to as well!!!!! When you said it was "okay" to have an over the top room, I literally teared up.....I have a lot of our "family furniture" and fine beautiful linens and even a candelabra that's I absolutely love!!!! We live in a small cabin in the colorado foothill mountains and I've painted one of the rooms deep dark ish green and I've always wanted to make a country estate kind of wood and painted ceiling and have most of our antiques in that room, the "over the top" room!!!! Some of the furniture is in storage and because of Covid we can't really hire some fellas to bring it over here because my health is very compromised. It's something to look forward to though, I want our furniture and our other special pieces so very much, my heart aches for it, it holds so many memories and future possibilities, it would be awesome if my 70 year old husband wanted it as much as I do, he seems pretty disinterested in all my plans of decorating and all that that entails😔, the money, physical work, motivation and desire. He's an amazing man and I shouldn't complain, truly💞 Somehow I'm just feeling sorry for myself in that way, I think it's because it taps so deeply into my artistic self that is wanting to express myself so so so much and I'm too sick to make it happen and put it on him to accomplish it for me? Maybe, or he's pretty much always been this way, nevertheless thank you for letting me say these things out loud, I'm thinking there are others that can relate, if they ever read this, lol!!!!! Valentina thank you for the permission somehow I needed it big time!!!!! I love all of your tips and steps to take, they are so helpful!!!!!
I have my chair which I have painted chalk white and it has silvery green velvet upholstery....just bought French vintage linen to use and to cover bedroom cushions...porcelain soap dish for small beautiful soaps and watching this again for more inspiration as I look and listen. Excellent! Thank you so much. Can’t wait for the next one!
Interesting info: Lime washing is centuries old, around the world. Lime was used as a sanitizer, killing bugs, germs in homes. Even in poultry coops, kills ticks and flies.
I agree, I like the beautiful details the Baroque era but I dont like overdone. I love chandeliers, candelabras, gold gilt mirrors, beautiful paintings but I like also a simplistic feel and sensibility. Thank you.♡
Your are so inspirational....just love watching you and how passionate you are with your home like I am ...best ideas come when we are trying to sleep lol
Thanks for creating this content and sharing the video. This is so helpful on how you take certain design features and then incorporating photos into the video. It is very informational. Thanks!
Love your videos!! I agree , I believe in creating different spaces in your home that make you happy and comfortable. I love to put on something light and flowing and sit on my patio. Style is how you feel. You are very inspiring! Very relaxing to watch your videos and tons of ideas!!! Thank you!
Oh thank u.... its been 8 nights I have been up for giving that French decor to my living room n clicking through pages after pages online to pick up the right stuff.... U made it quite easy n m glad i had few confirmations from u
The photo at 7:36 is perfect for me! I've been working on transitional french farm house in my new home and have had a difficult time finding the right french country/rustic look. Thanks Valentina! And so many great kitchen shots as well!
"embracing grandeur" well, actually when i look at american houses as a french, i definitely think grandeur is a concept way more american than french :p
Bonjour Valentina ! This is so fun that French Week, I am loving every minute of it. To many wonderful things to look and appreciate and, of course, ma chère great tips. Let's the fun continue ! (( hugs )) Oups … A bientôt :)
Did I miss the link on the Lime Wash tutorial? Love that look. I definitely love the juxtaposition of guilded and simple decor and have used that look in my home. So much inspiration!
I like traditional style but never liked bulky furnitures so I thought I must like Scandinavian style but it lacks something that will make me excited as you say and I think because what I really want is the sleek but grandeur French country. I couldn’t afford to dress my house with expensive French taste but as you said I could mix in some French like the chair and plates and whatever I can find cute and French. Thanks Valentina. Your advices are like my everyday dosage of tranquilizer to ease up my nerves on choosing the right vibe for my new house 😘
so if I can be honest, at first I was thinking "I cant watch her" which very quickly changed to " more more more please" Thank you so much for doing this series
I woke up to you this morning and was full of joy. I lived in Paris for over two years and fell in love with the culture and especially the provincial countryside. I made Le Weekend a part of my travel ritual, even on the East Coast, I have sought little hotels and B and Bs with a french countryside touch, Great content and I can't wait to travel again there to experience firsthand, Until then, I will enjoy adding French accents to my humble abode here,
*Thanks for the ideas.* For me May 5, 2021, watching nearly an entire year later, but trying to Frenchify my office and you mentioned lime finishes. That's what I'll need to do for a few pieces of furniture, one of which I bought completely new and the other a $35 hutch, sitting on the floor to be used as a candle place. ALTERNATIVE TO ACTUAL LIME: Lime wax, safe and gives same aesthetic.
Your master bathroom walls would look awesome limed washed. The Anthropologie outlet Final Cut in Augusta, GA has the gold inspired French mirrors. I love your style!
Valentina, I haven’t been able to find your lime was hack. Can you please repost your information on how to or where to find the best info on line washing. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
If you’re looking for a lovely and well priced oil painting, try contacting the art department of a college in your area. Art students are often quite talented, are often required to do a master copy painting for their course work, and are often quite happy to sell their work for some cash. In fact, many schools have an art showing each semester designed to help students sell their work. It’s a great way to support local artists and find some lovely paintings at the same time.
Hello Valentina- Happy Mother’s Day! The pictures that you show to support your text are so beautiful, but they go by too fast. Do you think it would be possible to either leave them up longer as you talk, or make them available for us to analyze afterwards? You are a delight! Thank you, Cathy G
I love the ideas. I would like to add the crown mouldings in my home but I don’t have high ceilings. Would that look like too much or make the room look smaller?
Love gold & silver, but is it ok to mix them together? Huge struggle for me. Like gold frames & w vintage silver pieces, or even a gallery wall w different frames. Would appreciate your advice! 🖤
@@HouseofValentina Thxs for the reply! I do appreciate it. I've so enjoyed your modern French country videos. Definitely right up my alley. Look forward to seeing more! 🖤
I am really enjoying your French Country series, but what I really need to know is, where are your earrings from? Every time you wear them, I can't stop looking at them. Please don't say Paris! :-)
Dianne Schmidt thank you! They were a gift from one of my best friends in Denmark. They are from a company called pilgrim. I wish they were available in the US!
Valentina, you are delightful and so talented, and I just read comments from your readers. There was one, only one, that should be deleted. So incredibly rude! I can't believe that anyone could be so nasty for no reason. Jealousy rears its ugly head!
Bonjour I am french, grew up surrounded by castles and was too young to appreciate their beauty , grandeur, history and majesty. Unfortunately, many castles in France need repair and are too expensive to maintain. Many châtelains end up selling them or opening them to tourists. Now days , there is no particular french style ,as the french love modern and antique furniture can be cheaper than Ikea ..yep true. What Americans interprete as french style is no longer true . On the contrary , there is a return to simplicity, minimalism to less ornaments, gold, baroque look at least among the younger generation. I love my French castles but I prefer the British style especially the Edwardian period. Bonne journée.
