I have an unhealthy amount of hours of slay the spire on steam and I decided to pre order the boardgame since the small I believe I can greatly appreciate the differences between the two, the randomness of the relics determined by the die roll, the fact I can decide to straight out play act 2 or 3 right out of the bat if I wish and also the coop. The upkeep isn't that big, it's a win-win-win, it's unbelievable how they done it
To help convince you on Slay the spire, think about how much it cost to do a locked room with 4 people these days. When I think about that myself it helps justify these co-op board games especially highly rated ones. Where as Locked room can be hit and miss and not very replayable.
This is a good point. A lot of people say boardgames are expensive. But I think this is only true if you treat he hobby like a subscription, buying a new expensive Kickstarter game every few weeks. If you actually regularly play your few games, the money/hour ratio on gaming as an activity is very good value long term.
My top anticipated are: Star Wars Deckbuilding Game Clone Wars Expansion MARVEL DICE THRONE: X-MEN BOX 2 (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Gambit and Rogue set) + Dice Throne Missions Dune Imperium Uprising: Bloodlines Star Trek Captains Chair Star Trek Star Realms Marvel Legendary 2nd Edition Lord of the Rings Duel for Middle Earth
A perfect game for me (meaning very competent in all ways and great replay) has been Circadians: first light. So just really great, great to replay, play in different circumstances, great in different difficulties, great solo, or many players.
