Buddy Murphy vs Tony Nese got me to pay attention to wrestling again. Andrade vs Rey were the matches that got me truly into wrestling after a decade away.
Christian’s backstage rap at the 05 Rumble was class and was an early glimpse of the crowd taking more of a liking to the heels Cena was feuding with rather than Cena himself.
Yep, the video should have mentioned this, Jericho has confirmed it himself that this was why he was inserted into the match. Christian was super hot at the time and WWE essentially punished him for getting more over than their handpicked golden boy, drafting him to Smackdown and jobbing him out until he lost all momentum and naturally left for TNA. Fuck Vince for (among many things) the way he always held back the immensely talented Christian in all his WWE runs (like making him lose the world title to Orton 2 days after winning it for the first time in an incredibly emotional moment).
@@ahimsamovies4484 That’s revisionist, Christian didn’t job out to mid carders in SD. BTW I love how everything is “getting themselves over” yeah because it was Christian’s idea to feud with cena and do a rap battle
@@JoeChilltonThat's because of Austin walking out. "Stone Cold" himself hand picked Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit to jump to RAW to feud with him, because he wanted fresh young opponents, and rated them. Austin was meant to feud with Eddie, and then Chris, with a Austin v Benoit match to take place at "Summerslam" that year. They had a storyline that Ric Flair was SC's slave then, so the two of them would then team against Eddie and Chris in a tag match, only for Flair to turn on Austin and then they would feud up to Wrestlemania. However, "Stone Cold" had a dispute with the company and walked out, throwing away the potential programs in the process.
I definitely wish they would have done Christian vs Cena when Christian was doing Raps on Cena during the draft when Cena was drafted to Raw for the first time with the spinner title
I remember Daniel Bryan and mustafa ali having a feud at the beginning of 2019 and instead of having them fight at the royal rumble (which makes sense) we got aj styles vs Daniel Bryan and I’m sorry but I think it should’ve been Bryan vs Ali aj had like 5 matches with Bryan
Is that leading up to WM35? Yeah, Bryan was booked to defend the belt against Ali, who they were going to push to the moon. But he hit injured before Elimination Chamber and pulled out. Kofi was inserted into his place, and got so over in that match, that he was given Ali's program and won the belt against Bryan at WM35 instead. So it was an injury which cost Ali.
Christian was knocking it out of the park in 05. I wonder if WWE were worried that he was becoming too popular and would have more of the crowd backing him than Cena.
This needs a part 2. I would put Santana vs Martell ahead of warrior and undertaker. You also have debiase vs Hercules, Miz vs Alex Riley, hogan vs perfect, Eddie vs Austin,
That Ultimate Warrior vs. Undertaker feud is one of the earliest things I can clearly remember following in WWF. That whole business with Jake the Snake training Warrior for the final confrontation (with challenges like burying him up to his neck) only to betray him at the last moment? I loved it. I don't know why they had to suddenly shoehorn the Warrior into the Hogan/Slaughter feud (which should have ended at Wrestlemania in the first place) but I guess that was just how it was done at the time. Vince loved to pair off his top babyfaces.
I haven’t watched this yet but Hulk Hogan Vs Paul Orndorff needs to be number one. Lasted the entire second half of 1986 and was one of the most lucrative programs in wrestling history, entirely resolved between Wrestlemania 2 and Wrestlemania 3.
I always believed in Christian and couldn't believe they wouldn't give him a main event spot. Like even batista said in an interview he went to Vince and wanted to work a world title storyline with him and Vince said no repeatedly, glad he went to TNA and got the 2 NWA titles there
John Cena v Christian Feud could have been awsome, both can cut awsome promos, have great matches and christian could of definitely elevated himself, however VKM never saw christian as a main eventer
They could have just done what they did with Edge the following year. He feuded with Cena extensively and won the belt off him twice, as they helped make each other into the biggest babyface and heel in the company. Only reason that couldn't have happened with Christian is because Vince never liked him that much (the way he did Edge) and didn't want him to be a top guy.
Here's an interesting fact. Despite being in the company at the same time for almost ten years, there was never a PPV match, nor even a feud, between Chris Jericho and the Undertaker. They were always either on other brands, different programs, both faces at the same time, or both heels at the same time. During that period, they had one-on-one match, on a UK episode of "Smackdown" which was only announced that night. The closest they got to a PPV match was once at "Survivor Series", but that was a Triple-Threat also involving the Big Show.
I get WWF's business model was quite different back in the day, but man why would you book the main event of Mania and then Run the match on house shows ahead of time? That would be like Booking Hogan vs Andre in the early months of 87 and having the slam happen all over the country before selling a PPV around it.
Mr Perfect v Hulk Hogan Macho Man v Honkytonk Man Roddy Piper v Rick Rude (not 1 on 1) Tito Santana v Rick Martel (not 1 on 1) Jake Roberts v Ultimate Warrior Jake Roberts v Earthquake British Bulldogs v Hart Foundation
Cultaholic used a picture of Ric Flair with the wrong belt! Flair had the big gold belt in his possession when he went to WWF in the early 90s, and not the NWA World Championship belt.
The Rock vs Hurricane, Stone Cold vs Eddie Guerrero, Jeff Hardy vs Undertaker and Rey Mysterio vs Roman Reigns to name a few rang in my head before I watched the video. Great video idea can’t wait to watch it and God Bless and Love you all!
If you wouldn't mind refreshing my memory. When could have Rey Mysterio vs Roman Reigns happened? I don't remember them ever interacting but that would've been a fun one to see!
@@TruBBT yeah no problem at all! It was during the pandemic era of Romans run. They had a cell match on smack down too. Overall it was pretty fun and it lead to the Usos getting the tag titles too!
Austin v Booker T should have been the Wrestlemania 18 match, Scott Hall & Nash should have won that 4 corner tag title match as it would have limited their time in the ring and then Edge & Angle could have faced off in trilogy of matches with the rubber match being the hair Vs hair at Judgment Day. Kane could have laid waste to everyone holding the Hardcore title all show and losing it to Maven just before the main event
Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair would've been a classic match of all time, but instead, we one the biggest Wrestlemania main event disasters of all time. Way to go, Vince. You just ruined the most anticipated main event match of all time, and you completely blew it. All that hyped for nothing.
Imagine this Andrade gets a return and joins the lwo only to clash with Dom for the leadership of or when rey rides off onto the sunset of retirement and Dom wins the leadership only for Andrade to pull a Nash and form his own faction like the wolfpack and at mania a big time clash lwo vs afo for all the marbles and if they lose one is getting disbanded I can see it now
Getting the suooermarket part was btr than ANY OPV. Seriousky vince thinkn they cldnt opv showed the one actual star he got wae WcW no idea how to usec
Would Rey vs Eddie count? They had several PPV matches during the feud, but the finale came on a random Smackdown. It was kind of weird how they had hugely built up matches for months, and then suddenly went "They're having one more match tonight! Okay, Eddie won, feud over."
