D rose 🌹 case was the saddest.. even till thsi point I’m still routing for D rose.. if he didn’t sustain injuries only God knows what he could have pulled off in the NBA
If your 7ft you should retire before signing a contract with portland.....nursing has played about 10 games over the last 3 seasons now......good thing Kanter is only 6ft 11
I think Blake Griffin could be an honorable mention here. He had some really good seasons early on in his career, but everything went down after the 2014-2015 season where he began to face injury after injury, eventually taking away a lot of his athleticism.
@@keithjoseph128 oh yeah he was an all around great player. They’re level scorer who could play lock down defence when he wanted to. I honestly believe there was a stretch where he was better than Bean.
Bill Walton's injury history is pretty incredible when you look at how much time he missed. He went one stretch where he played 14 games in FOUR YEARS. In total, the guy missed four entire seasons and had other seasons where he only played in 35, 14, 33, and 10 games. The guy was technically in the league for 14 seasons and only played in 468 games, an average of 33 games per year.
I didn’t think he would just because he actually got to return as a good bench/role player while some people didn’t but he would be a all time great if it wasn’t for injuries 😭
Other players on this returned also but were shells of their former self. D-rose didn't know how to land. If you watch highlights just watch the way he landed compared to others.
D-Rose is the most sad injury story ever as a Bulls fan it was the hardest thing to watch cause he could have led the Bulls to some NBA titles again Rose could have been one of the greatest players in NBA history had he not suffered so many injuries
I’m a bulls fan as well and I remember watching that game and seeing that happened that shit broke my heart bro it was like a fairy tale kid from Chicago with a chance to lead his hometown team to the finals a chance to mentioned with Michael Jordan I could see the sports shows topic now if he won a chip.... who’s bulls championship run was the best the 96 bulls or the d rose bulls smfh I still root for him tho damn shame bro damn shame
@@jomarcoliverman4971 yeah i still feel bad for Rose even if he isn't playing for the Bulls anymore but maybe someday he might go back to Chicago and retire as a Bull at least he tried his best when he was playing for the Bulls and thats all you can really ask for in a player like Rose
Speaking of injuries, they didn’t mention Shaun Livingston. His broken leg might have been the worst injury I’ve ever seen in sports, and to be able to come back from that is just incredible! So glad he could get back to playing again and thrive in Golden State as a valuable sixth man. But had he not injured himself he could also have become a legit superstar!
Penny Hardaway was something really special. Had Shaq stayed or the Magic go that level of talent, no doubt the magic would have gone to the finals again. Watching Penny play he was so smooth in everything.
Not necessarily an injury, but my #1 would be Magic Johnson. The HIV virus did not render him incapable of playing, it was more or less the public fear of the virus at the time. He still had plenty of years ahead of him where he was capable of playing
What about Alonzo Mourning - Runner up MVP one year, to having to retire due to kidney issues - Made it back and won a championship, but was a shell of his former self
Thank you. This channel has a horrible issue with fact-checking. In another video, they claimed Mavs won their only championship in 2009. It was 2011. Does anyone read these scripts before recording?
Drose and TMac are one of many of my favorite players of all time. I’d still put them on my “all time dream team” 12 man roster, regardless of injuries. Underdogs who were comparable to some of the GOATs of the nba
If D-Rose was healthy and in MVP form in 2015, I have no doubt the Bulls would've won the title over Golden State. Pau Gasol having a bounce back season, Jimmy Butler playing great and Noah coming off of an MVP-caliber season. Add MVP D-Rose to the mix, pretty sure they'd win it all
They could almost make another video about guys whose potential was lost because they died too soon. Drazen, Len Bias, Reggie Lewis, Terry Furlow, Hank Gathers...
Andrew Bynum. He's one you missed. Guy had loads of talent, but got lazy after Kobe won him 2 championships, and didn't care to work anymore. Elton Brand was another. He had a decent career, but not the superstar some thought he would be.
You should put larry bird on the list and can make a video about the players that careers was ruined because of bad habbit ex. Magic Jhonson got HIV because he dont wear protectio when hanging out with girls
I feel like more people need to realize that D-Rose's injury occurred because of the way he landed. He landed on his heels not the balls of his feet. That's why he got injured the way he did
for my dad players like Penny, Grant Hill, TMac had great careers but yes its sad that we didnt see them for so long but TMac we saw him for good amount of years
I would say Grant Hill might have been the one who could’ve gone on to become a top 3 or 5 player of all time had he not had those injuries early on. Penny was also considered the next best thing, but the one player I feel most bad for I Greg Oden. I mean the clips where you can hear him scream in pain and almost see his knees bend is beyond watchable. I almost throw up when I see him get hurt like that. He could have become the next Shaq.
Man, Penny Hardaway's sneakers were possibly more popular than the Iverson's. I had $40 Aasics but I remember other kids getting to 2nd base (over the shirt) off the Penny's alone.
Trying to figure out why you showed clips of isiah Thomas scoring on Larry Bird and Magic Johnson passing to Byron Scott when you were talking about Jason Williams ????
We all shedded a tear 😢😪 when Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles Tendon. That injury cost him his 6th Ring, which would've tied his Mentor, and Thee GOAT, Michael Jordan. Seriously, What Could've Been for KB24.
Allan Houston, Bernard King, Alonzo Mourning, Baron Davis, Elton Brand, and I would even put Chris Paul on here because even though he had a really good career he who was way more athletic before injuries early in his career.
The most amazing part, even with Walton, Bowie, Oden, and Roy all going down with career altering injuries. The Trailblazers have still been one of the best teams NBA year in and year out since 1974.
Technically speaking, the Portland curse also extends to Sabonis, The man was plagued by a bunch of serious foot injuries and retired sooner than he wanted to. Another honorable mention goes to Bernard King, although I didn’t really care much for him, Charles Smith also gets an honorable mention as well as Baron Davis
Honorable Mention: Kobe Bryant. He had the best 10 year stretch on side of Jordan. He won 5 rings in that time span. And soon as he came off a title run against Orlando, injuries dictated his career. (Speaking of Orlando. A guy that should be in the top 10 should be Dwight, he lost a lot of athleticism after his back injury)
9:47 Walton wasn't a "role player" on the 1986 Celtics. 6'th Man of the Year in the closest to a HEALTHY season (the only season he played more than 70 regular season games + the entire playoffs) he ever had.
You forgot Maurice Stokes for this list. He was just simply amazing. Stokes would have eventually teamed with Oscar Robertson and Jerry Lucas with the Cincinnati Royals. Stokes would have had a career equal to, or even better than, Robertson and/or Lucas.
Should have mentioned Maurice Stokes. All-Star each of his first 3 seasons before falling and landing awkwardly on his head, leaving him paralyzed. Obviously, we're talking about a very different era, but the 60s could have been a lot different if he and Oscar Robertson had been able to team up.
My dad was a big college basketball fan and he said that if Bill Walton would have been one of the best centers to ever play if he hadn't been so injury prone.
People forget how much more legendary the careers of Magic Johnson and Kobe's would be if not for lost seasons (due to HIV for Magic, being played less by Del Harris his two first seasons and losing a year + due to the Achilles.)
