Great NBA players often develop a go-to move, something that gives them an advantage, and that's hard to defend. Some moves, however, are more recognizable than others because they look different, they’re super effective, and players use them often.
With great apologies to George Gervin who just missed the cut with his finger roll, we chose these top 10 signature moves in basketball history

Here's some food for thought. Wilt Chamberlain blocked the Sky Hook, but he also was using that same move over Bill Russell in the 60s. Other moves he used were the fadeaway, the turnaround jumpshot, bank shot, and finger roll. He's also (along with Bill Russell) the first and quite arguably still the best at full court outlet passes. Passing can also be a signature skill. Another move that comes to mind is the floater, or the tear drop, in which guys like Mark Jackson and Tony Parker utilise, which then led to Stephen Curry morphing it into a runner-finger roll-floater hybrid that he used against Denver back in the earlier 2013-2014 Playoffs. Yeah, just a little bit of trivia I thought I would share. Anyway, good video all around.
@brianstark2219
@brianstark2219 2 года назад
Wilt did not have a hook shot. He had a turnaround bank shot which no one could stop. And if someone tried to overplay him on the bank, he would spin into the key for a dunk or finger roll. Russel is the one who had the small man skills where he converted blocks and rebounds into fast break points with his outlet passes. This is, by far, the least appreciated part of his game. Wilt wasnt doing that for the first seven years of his career. Then he was persuaded to change his game to include less scoring and more passing. Then, very late in his career with the Lakers, after suffering a bad knee injury in the 1970 season which limited his offensive moves ... thats when he became the master of the outlet pass. And lo and behold his team has one the greatest seasons in NBA history.

Not only that, Worthy and Jordan were on the same UNC team, so Worthy is probably the most qualified person on earth to compare the two. But... isn't a shooting guard *supposed* to have trouble guarding a forward? Also I think LA had really good defense against the two -- I'm not aware of any "I took it personally" followed by Jordan putting up 50 points against LA. Although a lot of those were revenge for getting frozen out in the 1985 all star team.

@@jessejordache1869 Worthy was a forward (SF or PF) in the NBA. But size wise, he was about halfway between Bird and Jordan. Jordan only played against LA 1 or 2 times a season prior to the 1991 Finals - LA didn't really have a good chance to put together a "good defense" against him prior to 1991 as they just din't play him enough to matter - but AFTER that is another story.

honestly i've never disliked james harden for his unusual or exploitative play. just loved the way he toyed with the NBA to the point where they made rules specifically to target him, which i feel is the highest mode of respect, since they had to put a stop to an unstoppable force. his approach has always been inspiring, how far till it's beyond the boundary and as he said, the numbers speak for themselves

My grandpa made me practice hook shots. It looked nothing like the sky hook but I could eventually hit it pretty consistently from free throw range even while running. I also fell in love with Duncan’s Angled bank shots and I was pretty good at it. My only real regret is that I never got to play in an organized league. Honestly wasn’t interested until late in High School and the coaches didn’t want to invest the time in me when I was already a senior and only going to be around for one season. I have played in a couple recreational leagues since then, but I didn’t keep up on my game and I just don’t belong out there anymore. Only thing I’m good for is setting screens and rebounding lol.

same. And then I ran into double rims so now I have to rely on more bank shots, which my dad taught me how to do anyway
