@@MementoMori7777 Played it and loved it, but I still like the AC world size, traversal and atmosphere. I like having actually populated cities & towns, with side quests and such, instead of just maybe one short side mission per town. Rise of Ronin is the closest thing to that, but it feels like a lower budget game and a bit clunky compared to what a series with the experience and budget that AC has could do.

I'd like something newer than Assassin's Creed. In a parallel world where the Age of Discovery does not exist, I would like to play a game about a Japanese man who, while on a ship bound for Europe, sinks and washes ashore on the coast of the Gulf of Guinea in uncolonized Africa, where he is rescued by a local tribe who teach him their way of life, language and culture, and where he does something to return the favor. ...I was reminded of Farcry primal in the middle of writing this. This is a subtle idea.

And here we go with the sir name argument. With foreign Samurai, it was a case by case basis on whether or not foreign Samurai received Japanese sur names from their lord. Eugene Collache was a French Samurai who served Shogun Yorinobu during the Boshin war and has no recorded Japanese sir name and only fought under his birth name while serving Yorinobu. Then there is Jan Joosten van Lodensteijn a Dutch Samurai who served Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and was only given the name Yayōsu. And not to mention Yasuke was the first ever foreign born Samurai on record so it’s not like there was a tradition of giving foreign Samurai Japanese names at that point as Yasuke was the first of his kind. So no, not every foreign Samurai was given a Japanese sir name nor was it a requirement for them to get the title Samurai.

Eugene Collache was a French Samurai who served Shogun Yorinobu during the Boshin war and has no recorded Japanese sir name and only fought under his birth name while serving Yorinobu. Then there is Jan Joosten van Lodensteijn a Dutch Samurai who served Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and was only given the name Yayōsu. And not to mention Yasuke was the first ever foreign born Samurai on record so it’s not like there was a tradition of giving foreign Samurai Japanese names at that point as Yasuke was the first of his kind. So no, not every foreign Samurai was given a Japanese sir name nor was it a requirement for them to get the title Samurai.
