10 Hidden Features of the Galaxy Note 5 You Don't Know About 

Got this phone the first day it came out here in Canada and I'm very impressed. Never have I had a note and I might never go back to anything else. The screen quality and speed is amazing since I watch a lot of youtube and other streaming services on it. I cant get enough of the S-pen and it makes writing down notes super easy and convenient. So happy I decided to get the Note 5!

You recommend resetting weekly/daily. Why? what will this do to any data or saved settings?

I cannot find the Auto Restart function?? Do I have to enable it? Your Back Up and restore section looks completely different than what I'm working with... please help.

please help me to take a decision Which one I buy? Note 5 duos 64GB or Honor 8 64GB???

@AskTheAndroidGuy you should consider letting people know you are on the international version of the N5. Particularly the the auto restart feature you mention around 3:38 . Its not available on the regular version. People searching the net for this feature you describe is actually a thing now lol and users are frustrated that it is not present some N5s.

Wow. I have to say that was the most unique hidden feature video I have seen. How did you find all of those features? Just with playing or? Way more in-depth than anyone else. Intriguing.

Just got my new Note 5 today. Enjoyed your video, but bummed that for whatever reason mine doesn't have all the same things yours does (i.e. the Smart Manager). Bummer!

There's a Note, and then there's every other phone, simple and plain. No other phone compares.

I cannot see the MANAGE APPS tab under the RAM menu on my note 5. and I set my finger print lock screen with my TOE (sounds stupid) how can I change it again to THUMB. thanks

just sharing : 1. floating keyboard missing - helps when you're on multi-window and typing 2. stylus writing - keyboard pop-ups - not friendly in multi-window mode. - referencing difficult. - direct pen input not available for some app.

on my galaxy note 5 I don't have that option to autorestart my phone in the backup/reset settings tab

Thanks for the info! Got mine yesterday because i had my last one for 2 years and it was crappy. OMGOSH!!! I love it, great pictures and easy note taking. I even drew a cute pic to send to someone. I don't mind seeing my messages on lock screen, i just don't like seeing the "Tmobile updates service" on locked screen. Anyway I can get rid of that?

restrict networks : i think the more concerning restriction to impose would be during mobile hotspot - where the other phone you allowed to connect to your network starts to treat it as WIFI and then background app starts to update. takes up all my data. :(

It would be really helpful if you would list the contents and the exact time when each feature appears in your video so people could skip to the ones that they need to know and skip over others they either aren't interested in or already are aware of. Thank you for the video on this decent phone that is still working for me, though it was replaced through the reconditioned insurance from Asurion twice in the past 2 years or so.

I really like your subject. I was wondering how come I don't have some of them like the smart manager, an option to create a pattern in the vibration and to back up data it's not under Samsung account. what can I do.

I have Verizon and the auto restart feature is not available on mine either 😕 Wonder why they would do that. Is there a way around it? Maybe by form of an app or rooting the phone if possible? Thank you your great insights.

Hi. great video, very helpful, thanks. 1st question--any clue why my note5 doesn't give me an auto restart option? Actually your settings screen is different from mine, in that it includes in Backup and reset the category "device maintenance", while mine just allows me to look at settings for Google or Samsung accounts or the factory settings. Just wondering if my phone could be a bit different. I already tried the lock accessibility function you showed and it worked great. But for me, I have to turn it on and turn it off with volume down and home button pressed simultaneously. ( you turned it on with volume and lock screen depressed). I bought this phone yesterday and am terrible with electronics, wondering if I somehow already screwed it up. thanks.

So the Note 5 can take Raw photos and other neat photo modes but are those available on the Note 4 ? further more which would You Buy the Note 4 with its fast charging removable Batt or the Note 5 fixed Batt updated Note etc?

Well spoken description with good visual presentation. Not a tech person but a mid aged hitch to the ride tech wave experience. You provide a vehicle to fast track the learning curve. Good on ya for keeping the aged feel they are still in the loop. I have progressed from Motorola to HTC upgrade to iphone 4 then Samsung Galaxy 4 and Galaxy 10.5 tab and now find the Note 5 is the perfect fit. Am I consumer yes? But have established what really fits my needs as I reach the later side of 50. Sorry for my contribution to the landfill sights.

just a question on your 10 hidden features video, you said that the phone will automatically Reset itself are you referring to a factory reset or...??? What kind of reset are you referring to? or were you meaning to power restart the phone as in power cycling it or something else? I was genuinely curious because it doesn't quite make sense...

My back up and reset settings are very limited compared to the one shown in the video, don't know if AT&T locked it or something

I don't have the option to manage Apps inside Smart MAnager's RAM section. I have a Note5. How do you enable it?

I'm assuming that some of the people ragging on the video or on each other have finally figured out that your CARRIER can modify the UI however it wants. Verizon trashed several features on my Note 5, including Auto Restart, along with Samsung Cloud (which I did get back using a utility to find the "activity"), the RAM Manager--requires getting through several layers of menu, and so forth. There were a number of posts in the Verizon customer forum. Verizon doesn't actually care what we think.

They must have gotten rid of manage apps under the RAM section. I have 5.1.1 on Tmobile and that tab isn't there. Some good stuff and not too long of a video. Thanks

On some devices auto restart is under General Management then click Reset and it's at the very bottom.

This is a genuine suggestion... Not being a smart ass, but you should really look into hypnosis. There are some people that do RU-vid hypnosis videos and your voice is perfect. Very soothing and hypnotic. Seriously.

You can add a screen saver on the reverse side this will help with the slippery feel but the phone will have a dull look. amazing phone!

hi Ricky! thanks for the video i want to install the extension pack to maximize the Snote and secure my notes with password. But i get the notification that the app is not available for the device.

And you are able to capture a screenshot by holding the home and power button fot about a second, witch is a very good feature because other phones like a sony dont offer that feature. For example if you want to capture a frame of a RU-vid video it calls up the pause and the skip forward and backward and the name of thevideo to on other devices. Samesung enables you to capture the screen without any disturbance

Here's a question AG. I got this phone on T-Mobil and it won't allow me to compose a text on a picture message. When I select a pic from the text box it automatically sends that picture (since the only option is send and there's no attach button) subsequently I have the same issue when I go to pictures and try sending them out same thing doesn't give me an option to edit or compose a message just auto send? I'm always forced to send a second message to say what I needed to say associated with the pic text. It's annoying. Any tips. Thanks!

I just got my SG Note 5 and I don't have the option for auto restart.

For interaction control I don't have the options that you do like time limit, power button.

Can you please tell me how to back up data on apps. I have an app i use called Mood Log I use for medically necessary notes 3 to 6 times a day to track my health triggers. Can you please tell me how to back the app Mood Log??? I would be devastated if I lost all that data...

I need help, it doesn't allow me to lock the screen so its basically untouchable, it says it cannot be used while using features like palm swipe to capture etc.

my favorite hidden feature is the emergency mode. you can press your power button three times and it will send a picture, video and sound of your surrondings to whoever you pick as your emergency people. more than one person if you want. great feature to keep you safe. can you do a video on that to let people know?

Mines doesn't have the Manage Apps under Ram in Smart manager. I'm on tmobile network. Could it be in another setting?

I have the Smart Manager but no Manage Apps button. So i have to manually disable the Apps using RAM. Any idea how to get to the Manage Apps button?

on the one were u can set a restart time and day... i dnt hv that option on mine.. i was following along with my phone and i did what u did at the same time.. i want that feature...

at around the 6:50 mark my Note 5 doesn't have that.... the manage app section of the smart manager. I can manually clear the RAM and it shows what it cleared but that's it.

Hey Android Guy I just spent a total of 3 hrs with TracFone and Samsung, and neither was able to resolve my problems. I have a Samsung On 5 . I cannot receive pictures (in text messages) being sent to my by family, or friends..I guess that would be 'mms'. I also cannot get the bluetooth to find my external speaker. (all this worked fine on my old LG phone). By chance do you have any solutions? (I know get a different phone? or go back to my LG) Red

Why can't I find the Auto restart on my Note 5? I followed your directions and it's not there. I got my phone the very end of August, 2015 from Verizon. Does that make a difference? I went to Settings, "Backup and reset"-- I have a heading for "Google Account" with options for "Backup account", "Back up my data," and "Automatic restore". Then under heading for "Reset" Factory data reset" and "Reset settings", That's all I see.
