Your piercer sounds like he/she has a sense of humor like the guy that did my industrial piercing. He was super friendly, chill and very knowledgeable about cartilage piercing.
I just drank a energy drink high in sodium. 😅 I’ll have to watch after myself. I just got my medusa done on friday and I’m trying to be careful for the recovery. I’ve stopped smoking, eating salty, spicy and diary products. I wash it twice a day with a sterile wound wash and wash my teeth also twice a day. It’s starting to develop a layer of skin on top of the jewerly inside the lip but I’m going to visit my piercer tomorrow since today I’m at work. Your channel helps a whole bunch! Thanks!
about how much jasmine oil did you use in your solution? was it just a drop or two? I'm making a whole gallon of salt water solution and would really appreciate an actual measurement
The LITFA method!!! (Don't be touchin em all the time!!!).. thank U for all your great info videos n for answering some questions I've had In the past.. Have a great day!!!
Love that, LITFA. May have to use that in aftercare instructions in the future. As always, glad they have been helpful and been able to answer some questions and you have a wonderful day!!
I have a hair client who is a tattoo artist but also very much into piercings.. when I was contemplating getting my nipples pierced I was asking him a bunch of questions n he said "LITFA"..I said, "oh is that a new cleaning solution??" (I'm so ignorant 🤣🤷🏻♀️).. he said, "if u want your piercing to heal, Leave it TF Alone!!" .. I said "perfect"
I just got my lobes pierced a few days ago. I’m glad I did. But man it’s annoying. I have tics that involve messing with my ears. I’ve been really focusing on not touching them though. I’ve done it like twice the first day. But since, not at all. And I’m a natural side sleeper. So it’s an adjustment to sleep on my back.
My tip to help stop sleeping on an ear piercing is to use a donut shaped hemorrhoid or travel neck pillow to sleep on with the piercing in the center hole. I want to start a funky hemorrhoid pillow business marketed to the freshly pierced that will be stocked in all piercing salons world wide.
Two things I've been suggesting for a couple of decades. I'm not sure what the market would be like. I would suggest that the pillows come with a couple of washable covers.
Me watching this as a 911 dispatcher who is always tired, constantly in stressful situations at work, works 12s, runs long distance, but at least I don’t smoke.
Just got my Daith done 5 days ago and my whole ear is swollen.. no pain.. just massive ear. There’s still room on the bar though. Praying it’s not infected
This happened with my double conch, my ear was basically trying to disguise itself as a marshmallow. I did 5 or 6 salt soaks with hotter water instead of 2 for a couple days and it went down to nearly normal. Still talk to your piercer though!
Just got my eyebrow done 5 days ago I’m only touching it while cleaning the area and doing my sea salt soak. It does look slightly pinkish on the bottom hole but nothing to be scared about lol I’ve had my nose and industrial done for the longest time now and I’ve always healed up well so I hope this piercing is going ok
When I went to get my second ear piercing I thought it would be so easy when he told me not to touch it (except when cleaning), but like man I really just want to touch it and gaze at it all day and admire the new addition to my body. Also really want to switch it out. I usually change my other ear piercing every other day, but it is hard with the other in the way.
I think we are all drawn to new piercings but it's best not to handle it. It is best to leave the jewelry in until the piercings are healed. Changing them could prolong the healing, cause infection or other issues or you may not be able to get the jewelry back in.
Thanks for the advice Davo 🙌🏼 Question for ya; I have a four month old helix piercing, which was pretty settled, however I switched out the flatback/straight bar for a hoop just a few days ago, and helix is now quite sore and crusty again 😭 I’m guessing I changed too soon - would you recommend switching back asap or waiting it out in the hope it settles? I have gone back to twice daily saline soaks and otherwise leavin it alone as much as possible. What would you recommend? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer 😊🙏🏼💘
Awesome advice thank you! Thinking about getting my first cartridge piercings, either a rook, daith, or Tragus. I am not worried about the pain of the peircing itself, moreover worried about which might be more prone to infection/tricky to heal. If you were to go with one of these three for a first timers cartridge peircing which would you suggest?
I’ve had my bridge done for over a year now, seemed to be healing fine then after a month and a half my piercer said it was cool to do a smaller barbell and we did but ever since it hadn’t healed right, changed the jewelry back to 100% stainless steel and still seems irritated, would you recommend a bigger barbell for room to heal?
hi do you suggest i clean with saline solution in the morning and at night and once i shower do I just let water run through it with no soap? But since I’ll obviously have to wash my hair do you suggest i do the same but in the shower i clean my piercing with a soap that contains no tricolsan thank you
Hi have a question, what do you think of surface tragus' (sideburn piercings)? I just got mine and I was hoping to watch a video on them from a piercer's point of view since I haven't seen any videos on them yet
Like all surface to surface piercings, I refuse to do them. You should have been advised to the risk of rejection in the pre-piercing consultation. There is a small section of the public that seems to be able to heal out surface to surface piercings with little or no issues. However, a majority of people do not have this superpower and unique anatomy, which means that the piercing will begin to reject within a few years. Usually, after the piercing area has received some minor trauma. That said there is a difference between a vertical tragus and a surface tragus. The vertical tragus is done through the tragus itself. Usually takes forever to heal and unless it is done dead-on centered, will have a mountain of issues. It is not an easy piercing to do or to heal. A surface Targus or Sideburn piercing is usually done through the tissue where the tragus meets the face. Basically a little in front of the tragus. This piercing isn't much different than piercing any loose skin on your face. With most traditional non-surface to surface piercings, the piercing is done through an area of the body that protrudes from the body and is lobe like with two sides. For example an earlobe or a nipple or a tongue or a tragus. This allows the piercing to be placed in a way where it is easier for your body to grow tissue around the jewelry and form the piercing than it is to reject and push it from the body. When you just pinch a flat area of the body, pierce it and put jewelry in that doesn't have the correct structure to reduce the body's ability to reject the jewelry, it will reject it. For example, the fingers, the back of the hand or arm, the nape of the neck, the anti-eyebrow, etc... It may not happen right away but the body will slowly reject it the same way it would a splinter of wood in your fingertip. Instead of focusing on growing tissue around the jewelry, it will focus on forcing the jewelry out. So, often even if the piercing doesn't reject, it will never really heal. There is the misconception that piercings like this are commonplace thanks to the internet. Often the photo is taken minutes after the piercing is done or within a few days afterward. They do not show the piercing months later when it has either healed or began to reject. Thanks to social media and image sharing sites, often the image of one piercing is re-posted millions of times leaving the impression that there are a number of people out there walking around with this piercing when in reality it's maybe only a handful. The real problems start when piercings with less than professional ethics begin to do this piercing on anyone that walks through their door without informing them of the risks and chances of rejection. This is one of the many reasons it's important to research your piercer and the piercing beforehand. With that, all said, good luck with healing the piercing out. If it is a surface to surface version, I highly suggest that it be done with a surface to surface bar and not a curved barbell. Changing the jewelry might hold off rejection but it also might increase it. Also if you begin to notice that the piercing is starting to reject or migrate, removing the jewelry asap will reduce the amount of scarring. Like I said there are some people that just have the right stuff to heal these out, good luck and here's hoping that's the case.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Thank you for replying to my comment I have the piercing and my piercer did warn me about it rejecting but I do need to change the jewelry because its a curved barbell.
I have a question. You said to let the piercer look at the piercing. Would you recommend once it’s healed I let the piercer change out my piercings for the first time? I’ve heard people say to do that and I’ve also heard people say “why does it matter? Just do it yourself”
I have another question.. I recently got a straight barbell swapped for a captive bead ring on my lorum. The ring went in fine according to my piercer, but over the last couple days it has been really irritated. It bleeds a bit and I am wondering if it would be better to leave the scab intact? It just seems counter intuitive to me to saline soak and have the scab fall off rather than leaving the scab and letting new skin develop. What do you think?
It's hard to say without seeing the piercing first hand but the ring maybe too small for the length of the piercing. Over time the piercing may migrate to wear it will be comfortable but is it doesn't improve or worsens, see your piercer and switch back to the barbell.
Hi. Great videos. Working my way through them. I had a nostril piercing 10 days ago, I'm a little concerned as I've heard I should have "The Crusties" but I'm not getting any oozing, or blood or any crusting. Is that a sign of not healing? I'm using neilmed morning and night. Thanks for any advice.
Davoo helpp! My piercer cant be reached cause of the COVID! I have another month of quarantine left here at my country and the ball of my tragus piercing fell out and i cant find it or buy another stud cause no one is open. Ive had it for four months now. I believe its mostly healed but im not so sure its fully healed. I dont know if I take it out?
A short term solution would be wrapping a small rubber band around the post or if you have one an o-ring. Other options would be to put another piece of jewelry in or taping the jewelry in place with medical tape or a band-aid. I would be mainly concerned about it falling out when your sleeping. I hope this helps. Stay well, and stay safe.
Hello... Is saline spray with aloe okay to use on my 6 day old nipple piercings? I am out of the sterile saline spray and cant get it anywhere near me. And I'm having issues getting the crusties off my jewelry. Plz help.. I don't want an infection or anything
I know saline wound spray and salt water are good cleaners, but can you use like dermoplast pain relieving antibacterial spray or would it be too harsh? I know they gave it to me after I gave birth to my son, but that was a whole different type of 'wound'.
I would suggest using any kind of antiseptic spay that has numbing properties. I'm guessing this is an off brand version of bactine. If so, yes it is too harsh.
I got my helix pierced on November 2019. I feel like the back has healed but I still have a red circle around it on the front (not sure if I can say it is a bump because it’s nothing like the bumps I’ve seen). Do you think it’s still healing and it’s an irritation sign or could it be a scar?
I have a question! So I’ve had my nipple piercing for a few years and it’s getting a little snug is it time to get a longer bar ? I’m extremely nervous because it has never been changed Before.
There have been studies that zinc can help speed up healing but I really believe a health balanced diet is enough to help the piercing heal. Also being healthy, well rested and stress free will help with healing.
Hiii!! Hope you can help :) I’ve had my nipples pierced for about 2 years now and recently my left one randomly gets really sore for a couple days then stops and comes back, my right one feels perfect and I can touch it with no pain, btw the irritated one looks 100% fine just accumulates more liquid than the other one
With some women they notice sensitivity during their monthly cycles. Also even healed piercings cam react to trauma. Sometimes some thing as minor as rolling over on the piercing or bumping will cause them to flair up. There are, a number of other things that could lead to this but often it's improper jewelry style, material and/or size and a jewelry change ends the problem.
I have a question.. I have a lorum piercing and I am concerned that one or two hairs are irritating the piercing. I am wondering if when a piercer “lines up” a piercing if the location of hairs are taken into account? Thanks
Generally we try to avoid piercing through a hair follicle. So an adjustment may be needed and done while marking the piercing. To avoid it I will usually bring the placement up or down a little. Otherwise, the hair shouldn't cause any issues. During the piercing we will move it out of the way to avoid the hair being in the path of the piercing.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing I did find that a hair is growing right on the perimeter of the piercing on one side. I think this has caused a ‘plateau’ in its healing. Basically every afternoon that one side is slightly swollen and beginning to overlap onto the hair follicle. In the mornings the hair is exposed, but by the end of the day the follicle is kind of inside the piercing. I have an appointment with my piercer tomorrow and am concerned that this piercing will need to be redone. Anyways, all I can do is hope for the best.
Hi 👋🏽 so I just had a question I had a piercing bump on my tragus and so I changed out the jewelry cause the lady said the other was probably fake and my ear was irritated by it and so I was using a type of hair product spray on sat and I think some may have gotten on my piercing cause as I almost had the bump gone it came back and is just a bump above the piercing I am using sea salt soaks but I was wondering could they still be not fully healed if it’s been a yr? it was fine til sat and it’s not overly red or throbbing bad but just of course ugly looking lol
It could be a number of things that causing the issue. Hair products can affect piercing but more often it is sleeping on the piercing or some other type of trauma.
I just found this channel and I'm so glad :') idk if anyone will see this but I really need advice! I got both nipples pierced in October of 2019, so at the time of writing this it's almost been a year, but my nipples alternate going through 'grumpy' phases, and now one nipple is becoming a bit deformed (keloid- esque bumps forming where the jewelry enters the nipple). Is this normal? :( Will they go away? :(
How are they now? Nipple piercings are the worst to heal, feels never fully healed to me. But leaving it alone and avoiding any trauma works the best to keep the tempers down.
Hey there. So I got my medusa done yesterday. They put a small labret in so my inner lip is sealing the piercing. And I can feel it’s on an angle because the bottom part of the circle sticks out and the top is pushing into my skin. When I smile the piercing is on the right side of my face instead of in the middle. I’m going back later today to get a longer bar but they want to charge me $15 for a longer one despite it being their fault they gave me a shorter bar. I want to ask to take it and get it redone in the centre of my face but I’m terrified they will get offended. I want to voice my concerns but I worry they will say “just wait a few weeks”. I want to believe it’s just swollen but when I line the piercing up it is closer to the right side of my face. So I want to take it out and let it feel ASAP so I can get it done properly ASAP. I’m just worried they will look at me like I’m dumb. How should I go about voicing my concerns without offending them? I’m just super keen on wanting a straight piercing especially my medusa. And I don’t want to be a burden assuming they didn’t do their job right. But there was no clamp being used so that’s why I think it’s at a slant. I’m just not sure how to say this without acting like a know it all
If you came in to my studio and said you were unhappy with the placement, I would gladly remove the jewelry and apologize for the placement not being what you wished. Then would offer to re-pierce it for free after it healed over. I want you to be happy with the piercing and will do what it takes to make you the piercing right. Of course I'll be bummed but it's true right thing to do. As far as talking to them about it, just say you are unhappy with the angle and it's off center. Be claim, nice and point out your issues. I'm sure they will do what needs to be done. If not, they are the piercer for you and you should take your business elsewhere. Piercers make mistakes and they know they do. There will always be swelling and it will cause the piercing to often look crooked. So listen to what they have to say. Oh and yes, they should replace the jewelry for free.
Body Piercing & Tattooing so I just got home. They told me that I didn’t need a longer bar. And that the plate is supposed to “nest” into my skin and that’s why my lip skin is covering the whole plate. I explained that it’s the top half of the plate digging in to my lip causing my skin to cover it and the bottom half of the plate is sticking out. I then explained that I originally wanted my piercing more centred and lower than what it was pierced. They told me that because it’s “not crooked enough” if I want it pierced the way I like I have to pay $115 again. So I have to pay full price for a whole new piercing. I almost left in tears because I can not afford that and I just spent $115 on a piercing that I’m not happy with. I’m really trying to believe that it’s the swelling causing it to be crooked. But AS SOON as she put the jewelry in after piercing I instantly felt the top half of the labret plate pushing into my skin like this (if my face is pointing towards my profile pic) \ . I find it hard to believe that my lip swelled up instantly after having it pierced and that’s why it felt like this right away and not over time. I just feel slightly scammed because I could barely afford this piercing to begin with. And if I want it done how I originally wanted I need to pay that much again. It just breaks my heart
They were trying to charge me $25 to put a longer post. Then told me that if it ends up being crooked and not because of the swelling I will have to pay $115. I left the current post I have in because there is something in my gut telling me it’s not the swelling. And if I were to pay the $25 for the longer post it will just make the crookedness more noticeable, and then I will take it out and have to pay the $115 to get it redone. So it would’ve been $255 in total that they wanted from me for all of that. It blows my mind. Because I fully understand piercers make mistakes, and the piercer was super nice. But she called her boss and her boss is the one who said there’s nothing they can do because “it’s not crooked enough”
If it isn't centered and isn't straight then they need to stand behind their work and re-pierce it. There us no such thing as it not being pierced incorrectly enough. It's either right or it isn't. At the least they should have offered to re-pierce at a reduced rate. My advice, share your experience on their Google business page, Facebook and everywhere you can review the studio. Also tell your friends. Swelling can cause the piercing to seem off and it can happen quickly but the whole it's not off enough to re-pierce is questionable business practices to say the least.
Then she needs to consider working for someone else. Like I said post reviews, and tell friends because it doesn't seem that the reputation is important enough to the owner to protect and back their products.
Tip one and two. I’m already fucked. I am highly stressed like 9/10 of the time I’m awake. I’m also lucky if I get a solid 5 hours of sleep. I’m not even kidding. I’m shocked my hair hasn’t turned snow white yet.
My industrial bleeds often. It has only been a few days, but do you have any suggestions about what to not do? Should I take off the dried blood or leave it until it heals??
I don't know if it's too late but you need to clean you piercing twice a day (my piercer recommands warm water (not hot, but body temperature) and then sterile salt solution and it showed remove the liquid your piercing release. Don't forget to dry it with a sterile cloth.
I have a question I have to dermals on my chest I hav had them for 4 or on 5 years I hav a cosmetic surgery comin in a year and a half will I hav to get them removed all together ?
More than likely yes. I would contact your doctor and find out for sure. Also, if you have to remove them, see your piercer and have them remove them. They will have the proper tools and methods to remove them and reduce scarring.
I got my septum done 22 Oct 2020, and then 31 Oct I got my 2 nostrils done. They are my first piercings. I noticed that it’s been 4 days since the area around my nose and piercing became a lot dry and flakey. I contacted my piercer and asked for advise. I always did as he told me so wash 2x a day with the soap and spray he sold me. This time he didn’t respond me... so I am trying using jojoba oil on the area to stop the dryness but it isn’t helping. What should I do?
Well you’re using soap that’s stripping the freshly pierced skin. Try sea salt water or use the soap occasionally and leave the piercing alone. Use some type of essential oil like olive oil or any natural oil at that to keep it moisturized
I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated. I'm not sure what spray they sold you but it should be a sterile saline spray like neilmed piercing aftercare or wound wash spray. The saline is enough to heal the piercing.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you for your response. Is demineralise water okay to use instead of distilled for the salt soak? I wasn’t able to find it where I live
In a pinch it might work. I'm surprised they would have that and not distilled. Your best option though is sterile saline spray like neilmed wound wash spray or piercing aftercare spray.
My question, my PA seems to having an issue with having a dryness around the wound and at times ive been concerned about infection. Im taking zink and have had to take antibiotics for COVID19. But my PA seems to have good days and then one bad out of 7. Ive had for a month, and the piercer has come down with Covid 19 so cant go to them for an answer. Ive considered just going into the dr's and asking for antibiotics but am afraid they will have me take out my pa and ill be at the starting point. The after care i was told wasn't for as long as you suggest. So I have reverted back to after care doing the sea salt soaks on the area. Anti bacteria soap,, and anti bacteria cream. But ultimately I just dont want to loose the PA and in the future have to start again. Tks I know your not a dr and this is not medical advice
My guess is that it is not infected. I no longer suggest soap unless the area has been contaminated. Sterile saline spray like neilmed wound wash spray or piercing aftercare spray twice daily is enough.
I had third lobe piercings done and followed the aftercare religiously. I even left the original piercing earring in and continued the aftercare for an additional month. I finally changed my jewellery and put in gold hoops. They were fine for a while but then got really irritated (not infected though). I put just plain gold studs back in and went back to my aftercare instructions. I figure I’d leave them alone for the next 6 months to be sure. I read somewhere that the older you are, the longer it can take to heal (which makes sense when you think about it). I’m in my 50’s so is there a more realistic timeline that I should be following or does it really vary per person and how will I know for sure that they’re healed?
My guess is the change in the shape of the jewelry was causing issues and it needs more time to season. There is a little bit of truth to the younger you are the faster you heal. Mainly because the younger are usually more healthy and have less health issue.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing Thank you for your reply. I will be patient and give this old body some extra time. 😁 I wondered too if it was the style of earring. My gut said to put something straight back in so I followed it. Thank you again.
Hii, so i have a question, i got my conch done about week and a half ago, and it is healing perfectly, but i was wondering is it safe to swim in the lake and can that cause me any problems or infections?
No swimming. Natural waters are filled with millions of microorganisms that keep the water system healthy. The piercing is an open wound and those microorganisms are foreign pathogens that all could cause an infection. The only time it is safe to swim with a piercing is after it is completely healed.
I just got my conch and helix done, how long should I be using the saline solution for? Should I buy another bottle after this one ends? And can I do regular exercise even with them done today, Nov. 28, 2020 or should I wait?
Until the piercings are healed. Usually a can will get you through the healing but if you run out, get another. Unless your exercise program would cause trauma or damage to the piercings, it should be fine to start right away.
Hello! I have a question! I just got my dalia bites done a few days ago and my piercer doesnt know much about them as I was the first person he did them on. I cant seem to find any info on how to clean it keep it healthy, how to eat, what to eat, how long they heal etc, ect.. what should I do! Thanks your video rocks!
Well, that isn't the best solution. The reason there isn't much information is that they are a rare piercing and most people don't have the right anatomy for the piercings. As far as care goes. Use sterile saline spray like neilmed piercing aftercare or wound wash spray twice daily. Spray on, leave in contact for 5 to 10 minutes, rinse, or wipe clean with a sterile gauge sponge or clean paper. For the first two weeks rinse twice daily with a non-alcoholic mouthwash like biotene. Also rinse with distilled water and sea salt(1/8 of a teaspoon per cup of distilled water) a couple of times a day.
@@BodyPiercingTattooing thank you so much for replying! I do use a wound wash but it doesnt really seem to do anything on all my piercings...(never seemed to make them better) they've now both got little bumps on them and tried doing a sea salt soak, salt paste and used tea tree oil and all it's done is burn! The inside of my mouth is totally fine it's just the outside that's not happy. Also I cant really talk to my piercer about it, cuz like I said I'm the first for him and he's all about just using warm water. Arg! So frustrating!
@@BodyPiercingTattooing strange, all my jewelry is surgical steel for all my piercings. I did just purchase the neilmed piercings after care and that will get here in a few days! Ill just keep trying to clean it till the new stuff comes in! I dont want to take much for of your time but thank you so much for your continuous help!
Understand that there are different levels of the quality and purity of any alloys. Also there are different levels of the the quality of the finish. It's why it important that there is some third party testing and verification of the biocompatibility of the material.
I got my nipples pierced a little over a year ago and they still are not healed. They don’t hurt anymore, but they frequently get little bumps on the side and there is some white pus stuff. Should I just give up and take them out? I feel like it’s been too long
It's hard t say what is going on and what is causing the issue without seeing the piercing first hand. I would suggest seeing your piercer and have them take a look. Chances are it's a solvable issue.
Both really depend on your anatomy. Both have their own risks. Tongue the main risks are damage to teeth, gums and bones. Eyebrow piercings can be prone to migration and rejection if you don't have the right jewelry and/or anatomy. Tongue piercings heal faster but will impact your life more including diet and speech.
Heyyy I just got my tongue pierced it’s day 3 now and yellow pus is coming out my piercer said it’s normal but is it really? Also he itold me not to drink any milk or eat cheese any dairy foods in general when will it swell down and when can I change the bar? 😁
Discharge is normal with all piercings. With oral piercings instead of hardening on the jewelry it will form in these yellowish strings that usually form on the bottom. They look kind of like snot. There is no connection between issues with dairy products that I've been able to find. There is a myth that it increases the risk of thrush. The swelling usually last 3-5 days and I suggest downsizing in a week to ten days.
Hello! I have a question if anyone can answer that would be greatly appreciated. So I'm in a area where coronavirus is and its hard to get the soap I use (no perfume or artificial coloured soap) so I was wondering if its alright to use soap that isn't just plain like that I was using
I no longer suggest using soap twice daily. The only time you need to use it is when you feel you have contaminated the piercing area. Nirmal soap would be better than nothing. Especially when it comes to washing your hands where it is more about the amount of time and friction.
I am interested in a nipple piercing. I have an upcoming mammogram in a few months. If I were to get the piercings in the next month, would it be safe to remove them for the mammogram and replace immediately without them closing?
Yeah it's hard to keep up with all of them. There are days that I know the only way I'm going to get to all the comments is if I spend the whole day not piercing or creating new videos.
It should fade with time. If it doesn't or worsens see your piercer. You maybe having a reaction to the jewelry material. Sone clients has had some relief by taking otc antihistamines.
We often get busy and I have to say sometimes it's hard to stay on top of all the social network messages. IG and Facebook being the worst because they keep changing the app and there is so much spam.
