Since Hollywood hasn’t been racking its brains for fresh material lately, hence all the remakes, sequels and spinoffs, I would like to see more historical dramas in the theaters. Midway (2019) deserves a mention for its accurate portrayal of arial and naval combat
That opening scene of Saving Private Ryan is very realistic...but it is not very accurate at all. The beach is wrong, the obstacles are wrong, the Vierville draw is wrong, the bunkers are wrong, the boats are wrong as well as the people operating them...and on and on. I get it that some of those things were beyond Spielberg's control, and the movie is amazing and terrific in many many other ways...but to hear anyone try to say that the opening scene is historically accurate just makes me want to speak up and correct them to let them know that it is not. Terrific film, and deserves its place on the list of the all time greatest in the history of cinema, but historically accurate...not so much.👍💯
