With the Mad Father thing, there was a subtle change they brought to the re-release. Depending on how you played, Aya either DID become exactly like her dad (except she put her victims gently to sleep before murdering the victims to make dolls) or she became a PROPER doctor and the dolls seen with Maria in the backroom are real porcelain dolls. The extra ending was put in to placate the backlash the original ending caused as many fans wanted Aya and Maria to have a completely happy ending away from the evil influences of Alfred and Monika (Monika was actually revealed to be just as, if not more, wicked than her husband as she was openly trying to encourage Aya to be just like her dad. Alfred on the other hand did want Aya to remain as innocent and ignorant to his antics as possible).
The re-release was really something, I never thought I would care about the father until that version. I'd really like to see a sequel or least a DLC to make a more canon ending to all the characters, mostly Aya and the boy.
@@heavymetalmixer91 The boy is called Robin. :-) He had the fan name of Dio for years, but the creators have since revealed his real name in background notes.
i have beaten the remake got all the endings and all but one of the achievments the only one i missed is kaitai shinsho. and i have never seen this new ending i have even looked for info about it online and still can't find anything. so it seems that it does not exist (edit are you talking about the first re-release or the 2020 remake?)
I will say MAYBE They should have put a list at the start of the video showing which series were getting spoiled. But that's about it and if you watch a video about endings without knowing which series it covers then that's your own fault.
Yeah, but it would be sooooo fucking easy for them to put a list of the games/movies that are about to be featured, in the description and/or beginning of the video, then you would know what you were in for. I can be curious about things I know I'll never watch, while there are other I have yet to cross off my list to play/watch. They're either lazy or really dumb. Maybe both.
I appreciate the mostly unique entries. The thing that makes the Witch's House more shocking is that "Ellen" chases you throughout the house dragging herself around with mutilated legs, blind eyes, and a crushed throat. Ellen, mutilated her body before swapping with Viola so that she would not be able to hunt her down easily or warn others. She couldn't speak to her father to warn him and he shot her thinking her a monster. The heartbreak killed her as Ellen's body was actually immortal up until that point.
The Witch’s House ending really made me wanna cry. Like Viola really was trying to be a good friend and let Ellen have her body for a little bit and Ellen took advantage of it. 😭 Then for Viola’s own father to kill her not realizing what is going on. Oh my gosh.
If I remember right there's a separate ' playthrough' you can do by not going into the house at all for an hour or so? then the bushes will be gone and you are ' technically' still Viola
@@MyNameIsKaz In Version 1.07, a new ending was added. In order to get this ending, Viola must stay still for an hour, and the window must be active. After an hour, the witch's roses and the magic in the forest will disappear, allowing Viola to escape the forest before evening. Since it is still the morning, Viola's father will not be looking for Viola, and Viola will only escape the forest in this ending. Knowing how the game is it's likely Ellen (anyway) but it's an option Not allowed to move or do anything for an hour on the pc tho
usually i hate idea of remaster/remake, but once i found myself in great despair in a wishing remake/hd remaster for Cry of Fear so it will became mainstream and this masterpeace could find the love that it deserves
Well, hold on! Was Wesker being a villain REALLY a shocking twist? You should NEVER trust a dude with slicked back hair who wears sunglasses ALL THE TIME (unless of course he's blind).
When RE first came out, yes it was. He was touted as a badass good guy with cool shades. All of STARS were heroes according to the user manual - for him to be a villain at that time was a shock.
For sure. There are other horror games with twists - even the point and click horror game Sanitarium. I won't ruin the twist in case someone has actually not played that game. I'm sure if they had done a little digging we wouldn't have BioShock, Dead Space, Resident Evil, or Silent Hill 2 on this list. So disappointed. I'm most disappointed about BioShock being on this list.
@@cmwinchell The likelihood of someone upset with a click horror game spoiler just off the bat feels a little low but you know even if it was one person in the world who cared they'd be the one to find your spoiler if you posted it.
@@TheNeonLemur and it's that one person that stops the twist ending spoiler...even though this game came out in 1998...well back to nostalgia. I'm off to play Monkey Island and Loom.
When it comes to Bioshock...Jack was engineered/CONDITIONED to follow commands based on the phrase "Would you kindly". Tenenbaum had to reverse the damage she and the other scientists caused in order to keep him breathing (if/when Fontaine decided to try and pull the proverbial plug).
One of the greatest story lines of all time. The second/true playthrough makes all the little hints from the house and the demon's conversations all click in such a satisfying way. A total gem of a game that's actually horrifying to think about.
One of my favorites in recent years came from RE:VIllage Ethan Winters being dead, and actually being "piloted" by the Mold itself. Super cool, and unexpected. Even though I knew his exposure to the Baker Mold was giving him regenerative power. Didn't expect him to basically be mold at this point.
In the ending of Mad Father since the girl Aya is treating seems to be there for an abortion someplace private, and because she knows Aya is there because other patients have left safely before to spread the word, I always prefer to believe Aya's mostly a normal doctor and only taxidermies fetuses when she removes ones developed enough to give her something to work with. So, like, she has the same mental illness as her father, but is at least able to control herself enough to minimize the harm she causes as much as she can by sticking to fetuses that are going to die whether she's the doctor who does it or not instead of an outright she's as much of a monster as her dad downer.
Idk what drama happened with the channel to drop some of the views and change of hosts but I always tune in everyday so thanks so much for your hard work! 😁
I know Oasley, Rich, Ash and Rach are sorely missed. It even seems weird not having Kirsten-Ria around (*nods*). But Jules and Scott have been brilliant, and the new lady hosts, Tilly, Amy and Jess, have really blended in well to the team.
@@KittyKatt_Luna80s what happened to the former 4? I started watching when they were around it seems they don't talk about it or if they do they don't really announce anything
@@RazorBladezX I miss Ben and Peter on the channel but at least we have Triple Jump for thier ongoing shenanigans. As for the others Rach has her own channel, Ash is on Playstation Access and Kirsten is now on Watchmojo, not sure what Rich and Oasley are upto outside of they have new jobs. As to why they left details are never really discussed very often but Rach has given the most detailed in that working for Whatculture can be quite suffocating but that doesnt mean that some of them simply got better opportunities because they are good at what they do.
@@RazorBladezX Basically years back one of the What Culture mainstays who was more involved in the wrestling channel used his position to sleep with fans and ever since they’ve been scrambling to fix the situation. Some like Ben & Peter just left to make their own channel. Other switched what channel they worked on primarily or cut down hours. A lot of people just left.
A clever part of the Sinking City is the foreshadowinf that Johannes is the King in Yellow. Not only is he wearing a very yellow attire, he also asks you to call him "Johannes", or rather "Your Highness".
Once again, amy, well done for writing presenting and editing your own material. Your diction is fine, work a little on your cadence. And don't listen to the vacuous comments of children, even tailford and gill don't edit themselves. Love from the states, keep up the good work!
@@rusty9297 thank you, but i post goofy stuff too. I just love this channel, it and oxbox always make me laugh, so i like to encourage the staff accordingly 😉
Little Nightmares 2 has a amazing plot twist Mono's fate was sad you saw a monster chasing and then the monster the thin man turned out to be you trying to break a time paradox, by seperating you from your friend six. Plus the box art putting the thin man behind Mono as his shadow was clever.
If I had to add something to that list (which is great, btw!) it would be OMORI. Especially since you included RPG Maker games! There are some real gems hidden there!
I really wouldn't consider Bioshock a horror game. Yes it has some scenes and moments where it has a bit horror but i wouldn't call it a horror game. It's a masterpiece nonetheless
I was a casual fan of this franchise, and even I felt that the game alluded to the Unitologists having 'infiltrated' most levels of government -- at least to the extent that there wasn't much distinction between either group.
Fatal frame 2 is not underated, its consider the best on the franchise, fatal frame 1 is the one that is underated, ot has a good history one of the best ghost bosses but its really short compared with 2 or 3 and 2 had one of the best soundtracks from the franchise
What about Until Dawn (maybe not so much the ending, for their are indeed, multiple endings. But if you find all of clues under a certain category, the last encounter that decides your ending has a much more significant impact, so close enough imo.) Or Obscure: The Aftermath, even moreover after the credits roll and trick you into thinking the game is done 0.0
I've never played Dead Space but isn't the story that the marker is itself responsible for the necromorphs? Like a big part of the lore is that it functions as some ancient engine of destructive transformation; not that it was weaponised to create azombie virus.
The resident evil game basically got a movie called Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City in November 2021. However Wesker is less of a double agent and more of a pawn to Umbrella in the movie and is just as oblivious as the other Stars members. It’s actually kind of sad being Jill Valentine is obsessed with him.
For those wondering Dead Space does not take place on Egis 7 that is where the Necromorphs are from the game takes place on the USG Ishimura a miner ship.
@@dominichaesner7080 Same here - as soon as she was talking about putting his scan on the Ark I was like "Don't you remember what happened when you got the suit upgrade?"
I never friggin knew that was what the ending to Mad Father was implying. That’s so dang depressing honestly ;-;. I thought it means she was being better than her father and actually helping others. I adore this game and I genuinely feel so betrayed 😭
Seriously wrong on the Dead Space stuff in so many ways. The marker on Aegis VII is not extra terrestrial in nature, it was made and planted there by Unitologists. Only the Black Marker was alien in origin and we never actually see the black marker in any of the games. The founder of Unitology, Michael Altman, got his hands on the Black Marker and sank it deep into the oceans so nobody could get their hands on it. The necromorph virus is a corruption of the effects from the Black Marker used by the Sovereign Colonies as experiments to weaponize the manufactured markers. Kendra isn't there to "bring a marker to Earth" she's there to bury the evidence of what EarthGov (the revamped Sovereign Colonies) had done.
The Witch's House if you 100% it you automatically know where I'm going with this. But if not here's the thing "Massive Spoiler Alert" turns out if you 100% the game and get the true ending you learn that you weren't playing as Viola but instead playing as the game's main antagonist that being a demonic witch who took Viola's body, and that the disgusting eyeless, armless, legless fleshly monstrosity chasing you throughout the game was the real Viola who in a justifiable vengeful rage wants to murder you in an attempt to get her body back but sadly after escaping her in a final chase sequence and reaching Viola's house you encounter Viola's father who unknowingly kills his daughter under the belief that he was protecting who he though was his daughter from a disgusting, bloodthirsty monster, and the game ends with the shocking realization that Viola's father will never realize he murder his own daughter and took in the very monster who figuratively and now literally stole her life, meaning in the end the titular villain actually wins in the end cause not only does she get to continue living the life that rightfully belonged to Viola, but also in a way manipulated Viola's father into murdering his own daughter in order to cover her tracks.
Ngl the Sinking City one was only a twist if you have never heard of the wider Lovecraftian pantheon. Guy likes yellow suits, obviously an avatar of Hastur, the King in Yellow.
I read a collection of lovecraft's stories a few way before playing that game, but I do not recall the King in Yellow at all. Was that from Dream Quest ofUnknown Kadath? I never finished that story.
@@skeletorgames8641 The King in Yellow isn't by Lovecraft, it's by Robert Chambers and came out like 30 years earlier. But it hugely inspired Lovecraft and many of his contemporaries in genre and style. And Derleth for example, basically made him canon as and avatar of Hastur in his own expanded Cthulhu mythos. As for Lovecraft himself: The Whisperer in Darkness references the Lake of Hali and the Yellow Sign, which are from the King in Yellow.
the witche's house is so depressing.. viola just wanted to befriend a sick girl but then she gets body swapped, forced to be in ellen's sick body and then killed by her own dad.
Honestly, the bioshock reveal wasn't as big as everyone thinks it was. If you actually pay attention to the conversations, you should realize the phrase "would you kindly" comes up way to often. Sure the whole being hypnotized thing isn't explained till the reveal but it's easy to tell something is off with that phrase
I loved playing fatal frame 2 that is a very good game I would suggest it there are plenty of endings the xbox version has a much better ending. Silent Hill is another good game love the series accept 4 didn't see the point of the room
can we get a list of expired licensing deal games? like lego lord of the rings and until recently Scott pilgrim, where the production company and the game devs ended thier partnership and as such the games removed from digital stores and new disc productions ended.
