Flew West Jet economy from Calgary to London (UK) and back last year. I have mobility problems due to having a motorbike accident some years ago and need wheelchair assistance as I can't walk more than a few hundred metres. Arriving at check in a little early I was parked off to the side and forgotten about for about one and a half hours with a couple of other passengers. Seeing the time pass by we became a bit antsy and began calling for help to which we were told there were not enough staff to assist us and they would get to us when they could. We boarded just in time! The flight was one of the most cramped and uncomfortable long haul flights I've experienced having viseted 72 countries. Seating space has been getting less and less for many years now but it is getting absurd these days. The food in the little boxes was an utter joke, complete shite! And, to add insult to injury they had the temerity to give us some completely inedible McDonalds pig swill for breakfast! I'll try another airline next year but am not hopeful off anything better!
Excellent report, very informative video. The fact that connections from Canada don't have to reclear airport security in the EU is a big time-saver. Would love to see WestJet expand its roster of European destinations from Calgary to include Athens, Copenhagen and Zurich.
That’s an extremely generous breakfast option they have. I just flew Lufthansa and all we got for breakfast was a tiny bowl of 5 chopped fruits and some bread. Westjet’s long-haul and North American offerings are like two completely different identities.
We took this very same flight May 12. Comfortable except both my kosher meals arrived frozen solid. When I brought this to the flight attendants, they had many excuses but not 1 single apology. I asked to speak w/ the cabin supervisor, but no one came. I emailed and calls westjet to complain and again no apologies, no compensation, no explanation. DO NOT ORDER SPECIAL MEALS ON WESTJET. It's mid July and still not a single response to my emails or calls. Customer service??? Not really.
I fly WestJet all the time and absolutely love the 787. I cannot stand their senior flight attendants. They are absolutely rude disrespectful to passengers. Not helpful they could easily reheat your food in the oven, but choose not to. WestJet, please put your nicer flight attendants on the 787 not these old ladies who have no heart or care anymore. Enough is enough.
@@FoodTravelCritic The customer service on Westjet has decreased drastically. I flew many times when the airline first started and attendants were helpful, personable and even made jokes. Now the airline is no different than the other major Canadian line with a long-term bad reputation for service. The original founders of Westjet must be appalled to see what happened to their airline.
watching people sprint walk ... is kind of funny.... like just Run lol if your that late... she's so mad it looks .. they book it to stand there. Econo is so chaotic and stressful... even if thigns are fine, people move/act/ conduct like there are fires all over the place.... I was like " I should see what it is like again maybe I will book this time ... thank you for the reminder that I will not book econo ! and the Internet Chargers on ALL airlines are getting out of hand .. its liek almost a Full month of Regular internet PER Person for a flight... Hell no I would rather Raw Dog it hahaha Bless you
The tragedy is that ever since Onyx and Jerry Schwartz has bought WestJet.... It has become a best a mediocre airline. "do the minimal required to get the job done" Years of poor CEO choices... A culture that is basically Toronto mediocrity. Hopefully, in the future the airline can rise up to world standards
What are you talking about? Calgary airport is amazing with so many new aircraft that are really cool! And it’s a nice terminal. If you want to talk about a crappy airport, I don’t recommend flying into Toronto then.
