Great video. I stumbled on this because a family member wants me to master her locks which are Defiants lol. 30 years of being a super/property manager and I've used Schlage, Arrow, Sargent, and of course Kwikset (which I assumed was the cheapest brand I could master or rekey) . And if I was amazed that the defiant lock could be done I was FLOORED when I saw lock #2 was a Brinks!!! Kudos. I also liked the way he assigned genders to the parts. I have called parts bastards and SOBs but never "him" 😅
Apparently Defiant changed their design, because when I first got started in lock picking back in 2005, I bought a Defiant deadbolt and it was equipped with an end cap that had a spring loaded pin.
Yes, some Defiant dead-bolts I have come across do have the "schlage" style end-cap. On 95% of the Defiant's we come across it's mostly the clip. But, I should have noted that on the second lock as well! This is actually kind of why I started the channel lol.. my first video was rekeying a defiant with the clip as it's the most common style. Granted this channel grew from what was just a one-off How-To.. I changed my approach to be more inclusive to all and help speak to a broader audience haha! My apologies :) Note: there are other types of clips I will touch on in future videos as well!
I would advise rekeying the first type like a standard deadbolt! If you try and remove the tape and follow the instructions it seems to always end badly lol You can rekey both of these locks the exact same way!
@@LockandKilo Sorry, I missed that first video. I was repinning my house locks, and didn't have hollow plug follower, just a solid plastic one, but I wound up drilling a hole on the solid plug follower and got it done before I ruined the plug or the tail piece, lol. Thanks for the video1
