@@applicationuser9764 that's way too much effort when I can just go to Amazon and buy the product. Gotta figure out the phone number, gotta deal with the automated telephone machine, gotta deal with the manager, then you gotta deal being guilt tripped into asking for help when none of this should've happen to begin with and is not your fault at all. Fact the manager comes with an attitude is absolutely appalling to me. Like you guys decided to put the glass up, take accountability for your decision to do so. Either hire more people to handle it quicker, or do it yourself. Likely a superior product too, since they actually cycle through products unlike these products that stay behind glass for months. I bought a battery operated device from Walmart behind glass. It died after a month. Bought same product off Amazon, it's still running perfectly fine for over a year now. 🤷‍♂️

I worked at Walmart for several years as an overnight stocker. I was always careful with merchandise, but I was shocked to see a co-worker on a ladder removing boxed appliances from the top overstock area and dropping them to the floor. Yes, what is often in locked cases is the most frequently stolen items regardless of price.

@sped6954
@sped6954 3 года назад
@@tonistrickland9603 Yeah, I heard that too a while back. Fine with me. I don't think I've been to a cashier lane since the first time I did a self checkout about two years ago, and I found it was so much easier than dealing with a cashier who makes like it's chore to bag something separate from everything else. For example, I collect Hot Wheels. When I'm there, I go out of my way to only pick out the cars that don't have damaged retail cards and I place them in the basket or cart in such a manner that nothing else in there can damage them. Plus, lately I've been moving away from their blue card lines, and buying the more premium lines, which cost about 5× as much. I don't know how much you know about it, but to us, package and card presentation and condition is everything. When it's time to check out, I need those cars bagged separately and arranged in such a manner that the cards won't be damaged by the simple act of just picking the bag up. Self check out means they get bagged the way I want it done, plus I'm out of there a lot quicker when I do my own check out. Or maybe I'm not but it just feels like I am! 🤣🤣🤣

A couple of years ago, I had gone home with a Vacuum from Walmart. Opened it up only to find the box filled with various SHOES! Took the box back & they exchanged it happily. We insisted they open the box to check the contents. So glad they did! The 2nd box was filled with more SHOES! The 3rd box we checked did have a Vacuum, which we walked out with. The packaging damage at Walmart is always a combination of wreckless palletizing (warehouse), then load shifting (to store) and unloading (automation). Speed is the highest priority for stocking at Walmart. I was an overnight stocker for 6 years, until 2018. The most degraded and exploited workers at Walmart are the hardest working ones, it seems.
@annehenry6243
@annehenry6243 3 года назад
Oh yeah, dock at Value City, same. Most of those crushed boxes are load shift "injuries". The square hole in the toaster oven box is from a forklift. My gripe though, is the morons who don't know how to properly use a box knife. Eye drops, bandages, antiseptic creams, feminine hygiene products and other H&B stuff sliced open during unpackaging. These can't be sold now because there's been a chance of contamination. Ugh.
@ksams57

Walmart changes their model, their methods...all the time. Trucks were being unloaded directly to the floor the last I heard. If they are short-staffed I suppose there can be bottle necks and huge messes as a result. Also, most stores have stockers working when the store is closed for shoppers, but they also have to re-stock and clean as well. It's a horrible job.

Thank you for allowing me to voice a concern about Walmart, and that concern is: managers who know nothing about the community they serve. Here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, we pay particular attention to the weather, especially during Hurricane Season. Our local media outlets stay right on top of all the watches and warnings, and they pass the information along to their viewers and listeners. The manager at my neighborhood Walmart in Baker, Louisiana, just doesn't get it. When we were alerted, for example, that Hurricane Zeta was going to make landfall along the Louisiana coast on Wednesday, October 28, 2020, I went to Walmart to stock up on supplies on Sunday morning, October 25. So did hundreds of my fellow residents. Why, then, was there ONLY ONE CHECK-OUT LANE OPEN? ONE!!! The answer, of course, is obvious: because the manager had no idea how his (or her) community works. There were 15 shoppers lined up for ONE CHECK-OUT LANE, and of course, we had to be spaced 6 feet apart due to COVID-19 distancing regulations! There should have been TEN lanes open, and the sheer volume of shoppers to move through those lanes would have more than made up for the salaries paid to the extra cashiers. Am I wrong?

i have asked associates walking by for help. i got "thats not my dept" when i ask her to call someone she literally just stared at me for several seconds and just walked off. didn't get anyone just ignored me. when i saw her later in another section i told her thanks for the help..she stated at me again and said 'i told you it wasn't my dept" i knocked over a jar of pasta sauce. glass shards everywhere, pasta sauce everywhere. i sent my daughter to find someone i couldn't leave with it just laying there too many kids in the store. she was gone several minutes. when she came back she said she found one lady who said she would find someone. we waited 15 more minutes. i final called the store on my cell and asked to have someone sent over. took 10 more minutes....no joke timed them on the phone. when the did come they had nothing to clean it up with. they had to leave and send someone else back. 30 minutes waiting to have some one clean a mess that really could have hurt someone. it was ridiculous. i had my 2 younger sons and daughter. try keeping an autistic 3 year old calm for that long as well as a 7 year old. i very rarely ever go in. my husband does the shopping there. my daughter in law refuses to take her family in. she has 4, 1-13 and they are rude to her everytime. the kids are very well behaved. 2 ride the cart and the 13 year pushes the food cart. she looks about 22 and has a harried look about her she is a mom of 4 and my son works out of town. they will look at her like she is trash I've seen it. so she shops at Kroger. they are very nice and accommodating. their produce and meat are way better. this edit is for everyone 5hat thinks i did this on purpose. you are nuts it was later in the visit. it was knocked off because of how the shelf was stacked with other items. i am appalled someone would suggest i act that way...i may not have worded it well but when others clearly see what was said you just want to find fault. i always have to edit after i post because i miss misspelled words... you ppl are ....

You can also include in your grocery order non food items, ie tools, hardware, make up, gardening supplies, etc. Walmart has really streamlined their curbside pickup. Usually when I pull into designated parking area, my order is coming out, I pop the trunk, it’s loaded and I’m done in less than 10 min. What I can’t get in my grocery order, I order online. Free shipping for $35. I’ve also made returns by mail without any problems. Hope this helps.

I would follow the advice of smart shoppers who recommend that you open the box to make sure that the correct item is in the box, and check that it isn’t damaged. But if you open a box and the item is acceptable, BUY THE BOX THAT YOU OPENED! Don’t open a box and then put it back and buy another unopened box.

Thanks for the video! I learned a good amount there. As par your boxes being damaged, and to look at those before buying the product, check over shirts as well. I have picked up shirts, and when I got them home, there were tiny rips in it, or strings that were poking out. Be careful buying shirts or sweatshirts online as well. I've done that once with the same results.

@alm7707 2 года назад
Hint, Keep the box and packing for a week or so. It makes returning an item way easier. Broken/damaged boxes aren't always the ones with broken product. I purchased a new toilet from Lowes years ago, drove the 40 miles home and opened the undamaged box and the toilet bowl was broken.40 miles back to the customer service where I complained that my time and mileage were worth something, could they give me a new toilet and maybe a bit of refund or something. Manager came along, said give me $50 back (I had paid $110) I was way happy. Clerk brought up another toilet. The box dented and tore. We opened the box in the store expecting another broken toilet. Wasn't a scratch on it. Other times I've asked for further discounts on opened or damaged boxes, sometimes you get a healthy reduction, doesn't hurt to ask.

A big mistake that many shoppers make at Walmart is thinking if the tag says 2 for $5 they buy 2 because they think they have to buy 2 to get the "special" price. The price is $2.50/item regardless if you buy 1 or if you buy 10. It is all about a subconscious thing in the brain with making you think you are getting a better deal by purchasing 2 and many other stores require that but often at Walmart they just price it that way to get you to buy more or think it is a better deal.

I worked at Walmart. The motto is " Do more for less. It starts with their employees. They don't pay a living wage and keep people working part=time so as not to have to provide insurance or any benefits. Employees have to get food stamps to be able to eat. Single people don't get support. I worked with many people who came to work and had no lunch. We asked the supervisor if they could help by giving people more hours or providing an emergency food program. . He response was flippant at best and thought it was good people knew how to suffer. He also quoted the company motto: We do more for LESS; I guess he thought that starving people was just fine as long as he was able to make his bonus for keeping costs down. I know what you are saying --employees have no loyalty to the store.

Point One, the damaged boxes. I work Housewares at my local Walmart. This is how these boxes come in off the truck. Coming from the warehouses, products are not neatly stacked on pallets and wrapped to avoid movement. Would be common sense, right? Nope! Products (everything from every department is just mish-mashed stacked in the truck. Then they shift during transport. Hence the damaged boxes. And this isn't just with Walmart. This is how most trucks for most stores are done (my husband used to work for a local True Value and it was the same situation. He also worked for Lowes Hardware - same thing.) So, please don't blame the local store ... it starts at the warehouses (if not when the manufacturer ships to the warehouses). Then, you have customers who literally rip open boxes and packaging to look inside, even though all the info you would need is written on the box/packaging. If I am able to get everything back in properly, then I have to tape and try to make it look as nice as possible for the next customer.

@nanllyn
@nanllyn 3 года назад
@Clyde McClain It's my understanding is that Walmart and most retailers do not guarantee or have any kind of insurance on their money orders. So if it gets cashed by someone other than the intended person/entity you have no recourse 99% of the time. If you get it from the post office, bank , etc. part of the reason they are more expensive is because they are insured. So if your money order gets in the wrong hands they will investigate and insure you get your money back. A few years back I bought a $250 money order that was intercepted and cashed by the wrong person. I was lucky that the merchant traced it and I got my money back. They did advise me that their policy was not to investigate but they would do their best. It was a few years ago so things could have changed but I'm pretty sure this still is true. Hope this helps others not to lose their hard earned money.

Be careful at other places too. Especially check cashing stores. Many people think all money orders are guaranteed, but some aren't. Best bet I've found is from your bank. Having worked unloading both grocery and general merchandise freight I found that it seemed weird that grocery items were palletized with shrink wrap to protect those items, however general merchandise freight wasn’t. General merchandise freight was stacked as loose individual items - which was a pain to unload. Whoever loaded those trucks never seemed to recognize that really heavy items shouldn’t be stacked on top of light items, because during the trucks ride to the store those light items will get damaged. I’ve seen TVs laid flat on the bed of the truck with all sorts of freight on top of them, although the tv boxes should have been stacked on their edge. I never understood why this type of freight couldn’t be palletized as well. As it stands now, I rarely shop at Walmart because I can usually get what I need or want online and get it shipped to me without it being damaged.

I used to unload trucks for Wal-Mart and I can say (based on my experience) he is correct about the treatment of the stuff. With the exception of a few things like dog food and TVs, their trucks aren't palletized. What I mean is that whoever unloads the truck has to unload it 1 box at a time onto a roller conveyer. So because of how they pressure with hours and schedules etc, you're told to grab and sling. Just terrible. I could go on and on about the issues with Wal-Mart. Unfortunately, especially in small towns like mine, you about have to go there
