About supports doing damage, if your tank and DPS are super agro, going crazy, taking and doing a bunch of damage, you’re gonna have to heal more and that’s okay. If your tank is shield bot rein and your DPS are playing slow, you may have to go bap, zen, Illari, etc. and click heads. Play at the pace of your team. There’s no one way that’s always right.
As a solo support player I find myself having to constantly healbot the aggro tanks and dps just to try to keep them alive. Then they die out in the open because they don’t use any game sense to keep themselves alive; then they get mad at me for them dying multiple times while I still haven’t because game sense. So frustrating
@@Turtlpwr if you can get in voice sometimes you can nicely tell your DPS to play cover. Let them know when you’re pocketing them. It builds confidence early. So when they die later they know it’s not because you’re not paying attention but because they’re taking too much damage. But if your Cass stands in the middle of the street, not much you can do. Just don’t die saving an idiot.
Also if you're playing support and you're team is being super aggro let them all die cause you can't heal everyone anyways. And if you pocket them and keep em alive they'll always think it's okay to not play safely
Fr, comments in this vid and solo/q randoms makes me so angry. "Just heal me" , "HEAL?!?!?!". I'm thinking on abandoning the game just cuz of this type of players
I would like to damage more but I feel stressed out because my tank is always stood in the open taking unnecessary damage and dying so I am FORCED into healbotting. It is TOO OFTEN that I see tank mains doing this crap. I can’t do this game anymore. HELP ME SUPPORT YOU BY SUPPORTING YOURSELF AND STOP INTING.
Ive upgraded from a 121g steelseries rival 650 to a Logitech superlight with an artisan mouse pad and my aim instantly got better. It won't be this much of a difference for everyone but equipment can matter.
@@mylegguy8115 I mean not always bc especially in low ranks you get a lot of throwers smurfs and leavers but at the end of most days or you should have a positive win rate or you probably belong in your rank
I love this, this is why we need to teach players to problemsolve. To be able to beat concepts not characters, so no matter what character they run into, new and old, they they can see recognizable concepts and scenarios and at least have an idea of how to fight back.
Definitely frustrating when it feels like that 😂 A better mindset though would be that you only deserve the next rank if you can carry your team in the rank you're at.
Mills, if you read this, thank you for the information. I may never be a solo grandmaster, but the tips you provide have changed my game. Keep up the good work, brother.
if u keep working at it with a good mindset, i firmly believe you or anyone could reach grandmaster. natural talent is fake and always gets beat by mindset w time.
Happy to see the factors that go into meta picks being acknowledged. My first thought is there’s big value in learning meta picks/matchups because getting better at buffed heroes will make carrying matches easier
Equipment MATTERS! I got a 360hz refresh rate monitor last week and it makes tracking n aiming so much easier that I improved 2 fold. Maybe I had a really poor screen before, but man, having a card that can run overwatch a 360 fps o that Alienware monitor is incredible. I've been receiving comments like, dude you so skilled etc for the first time, I'm an rts player, never played shooters and constantly hit top dps now. 😊
Equipment does matter, it's just like an acoustic guitar. If it's crappy, you have bad strings, you'll have to fret down harder. Sure, you can still play well, but if you had something a bit better, you'd play much better, it should feel easy, and not fighting your equipment all the time.
Thats not true at all, i play on laptop 60 frames and i get drop frames it get down to 13 sometimes even less.... so not hitting a target with that and get flamed by team that's not an equipment problem that's a skill issue.
I'm pretty sure they tell you now post game whether it was trying to test you. Like one I won it said something along the lines of it thought I would lose haha. But I didn't so I got extra elo
Well yeah but you can blame your team but that doesn’t mean that the other team isn’t experiencing the same thing. Sure your teammates are not the best out there. But everyone goes through that so it is fair regardless of who’s on your team. Your also more likely to lose if you let yourself get in a bad mood. I found that in most games the best practice you can do is practicing being calm which helps you think rationally and actually gives you time to reflect and improve
It's hard to up the mechanical skill on controller (PS5) because all of these videos are geared towards mouse and key. It's understandable but man I feel like I'm never gonna get better unless I make a switch off controller
I find it easier to start on lower settings, so you aren't feeling so jittery and trying to hit flicks with a higher margin of error. And maybe increasing it slightly every couple days or weeks as you get better at whipping your cam around. Eventually, you'll land on a comfortable sensitivity. Not necessarily too fast or slow but enough that you can pull a 180 comfortably if you get flanked.
It also helps to use movement a lot of the time to hit shots. If you're aiming in roughly the direction of the enemy's head, it's typically easier to just sidestep and shoot than make little micro adjustments with the cam. Obviously it's more in depth, and you'll still need to make little adjustments as you get better and your enemies get better with movement, but setting yourself up for a shot before you even need to make it at all is huge.
My least favorite thing is that (pending what rank youre playing in ) .. people dont understand when to push an advantage. Even if you start the fight off with the first pick or two, people will legit still sit back on the point and let the team walk all the way back from spawn for free. Drives me nuts
What’s really better, sticking with a character you’re extremely comfortable with, or going a character you barely know how to play to counter swap? It all depends on how good you are on different heroes, going orisa into hog doesn’t mean instant win, going zarya into orisa doesn’t mean instant win, you need to know how to play against them and as the character you swap to. If you learn how to play against every hero on your main, you’ll have a better chance just sticking with them.
The stats section is so real. People need to learn this one. I've had games where the enemy team absolutely dominated the scoreboard, yet they still lost to me and my team, because it's not about how big your stats are; it's about how well placed and timed your elims, damage and deaths are. Also, I see soooo many people saying "diff" as a way of flaming people or giving themselves an ego boost if they think they did better than the enemy on their role, but soooo many times, people are flat out wrong about where the issue lay, or who the one doing the hard work is. Not to mention that saying "diff" is ultimate cringe. If you're saying it about yourself to boost your ego, it is the most ultimate form of cringe you can achieve in this world, and if you're saying it to flame your teammates and shift blame from yourself, then it is just plain toxic and you were probably the one failing.
Meta is not important UNLESS you are high elo. If you are good at a certain hero in low ranks bronze-masters it wont matter which hero you pick you can out play anyone if you’re good enough with them. It’s been proven multiple times. I’ve done multiple bronze to gm On the worst characters in the game it just depends if you have the knowledge. And skills. Once you get to the top like top 500 then it sorta becomes more of a thing with counter swapping and picking meta. But if ur below gm don’t even worry about all that stuff😂😂
I’d totally disagree that high rank determines meta. It’s totally determined by balance changes. It’s the game as a whole. All ranks. Balance changes etc. Mauga was meta when he launched because he was OP and he was played at every rank simply cause he was good. It wasn’t because the higher ranks decided that’s the best hero to play.
Honestly, when it comes to scoreboard, I just hope someone isn't going negative. Even if you're going like 6/6, sure. Maybe it was a bad round. But going 4/10 while everyone else is positive? Come on, bro. (Mercy excluded ig. Though Mercy shouldn't be dying too much either.)
So ive taken note of all the endorsement levels of my last 10 games. My team. Enemy team Game 1: 1/2/1/1. 4/5/2/2 Game 2: 2/2/1/1. 4/4/5/2 Game 3: 3/2/1/2 1/4/3/3 Game 4: 1/1/1/1 3/5/4/1 Game 5: 4/4/1/2. 1/3/5/5 Game 6: 1/2/1/2. 5/5/4/3 Game 7: 5/1/1/2. 5/3/2/2 Game 8: 1/4/1/1. 3/3/4/4 Game 9: 1/1/2/1. 4/5/5/5 Game10:5/4/3/1. 1/2/5/1 I noticed more times than not i get very low endorsement level players on my team vs a bunch of 3s 4s and 5s so im now keeping track because it seems like the best way to really tell if the match maker is fking you. Im endorement lvl5 btw, so the fact i constantly get 1s vs these teams that are clearly getting praised for being good is kinda getting annoying and i wanna know why this is the case, am i just always expected to carry? But regardless i wonder if they could incorporate endorement levels into match making because if im the only 5 onna team of 1s, and i feel my teams feeding all game only to find most others hate my teammates just as much as me, its kinda annoying asf and the more it happens the more in starting to believe loser queue and all that which i was suoer sceptical of before but i just cannot explain why i haven't had a lvl 5 on my team yet i always face an enemy whos level 5.
Played a game the other week, it felt like everyone on my team actually had overwatch common sense, it was really random because it was so noticeable. At the end of the game I was like, holy shit, everyone on my team had level 5 endorsement, which is extremely rare.
@@trav8787 saaaaame! That's what made me realise this, is I got hard carried which never happened to me, and when i checked it was all 5s and 4s, like I normally almost never endorse others so when I checked to endorse and seen that it got me thinking and I started checking and I noticed after that I got like all 1s 2s and maybe 3s if I'm lucky with the very odd 5 here and there while my enemies are all 5s all the time with multiple onna team which literally explained why I always feel like my team has 0 coordination while the enemy is making fortnox look bad 😂
@@solidforge2016 yea because I'm not counting the enemy tank, guess I should have stated that part, but I looked at it like who's that tank got supporting him so I always wrote down the other tanks team.
there is absolutely zero logical justification from the player side that "testing you" by giving you a match up the game doesn't think you can win makes any sense at all. that is the point of the rank and MMR system. you climb and player against harder competition that is the test and if you are the average skilled player in the lobbies at your rank, that mean that is where you are meant to be, if you are climbing and winning a lot of games in a row because you shouldn't be in that rank, grabbing a bat and smack you back down a step or two on the ladder is a ridiculous thing to do. it only exist for one purpose and that is exactly what people are saying engagement optimised match making, the game doesn't want you to get bored cause you win all the time and you aren't finding a challenge, which is again ridiculous in a ranked game mode your engagement comes from seeing your rank rise.
its just a tug of war between queue time and mmr. they just had a higher combined/average mmr then your team, all games that use mmr do this to some extent
@@wolbobus2130 nah man, it isn't just you got a bad roll on queue times here is a slightly higher overall MMR team, blizzard has openly talked about doing what I said.
@@OnlyThroughConflictDoWeEvolve there’s too many crybabies on voice chat, it feels like you have to carry to climb at least solo, scoreboard is also a major detriment for bronze-diamond where people don’t know how the game works, generally just draining to play.
@@Garry-y7b through that conflict you can evolve. Teams that work together more win more. Ever notice how when your team is talking smack it helps everyone focus on what the team is doing? If not just to simply to point out their faults too? It’s petty but it’s But then you start winning team fights. I especially rewatch matches that have trash talking and try and figure out what all the yappin bout. Watch yourself from your healers perspective in replay and you’ll naturally improve your game sense
Make content that’s useful and insightful. The classic top _ things bang bang bang is useless for most. Plus, drop the trigger words that less educated people hear and go AHHH YES SMART. Give definitions, go into detail. Equally, you say that people should be able to improve their game sense by understanding what the meta is and why what’s good is good. Explain what is and why it is then. Coaching style from a coach would be appreciated by the masses im sure. You will get a wider audience demographic from spending time on that too. This is some constructive criticism as I’m sick of seeing the same thing over and over again on this channel. Thank you.
He made good points. This video will not be the end of his channel. A weird take from a so-called "coach" who has 0 youtube data to pull from of your own...
Great points, its frustrating to deal with when coaching metal rank players. People seem to sometimes believe that overwatch is an equation, where who your hero pick can just be plugged in and you win. Its not that simple. Yes, high rank streamers might make it sound that way, but they are being hyperbolic, and experiencing much more efficient and effective gameplay.
According to many of the players i get stuck with in bronze to gold, the scoreboard matters the most lol. Like on their team they have 20k heals for each support they must be doing better when really the team is being demolished and their supports are being healbots to try and even keep them alive. Or someone has a negative kdr but they helped capture 2 points as a result. Yes, the scoreboard has some use but as they are saying in the video, its not the be all, end all of the game and how its going all the time. Granted, I've had teams where they cried about healing when our supports(i usually main support) have double the other teams' healing, and they say we need to do more healing, lol. You just can't win no matter what you do. Other times they complain about supports doing dps when its helping the team and often necessary to make up for the lack of our dps doing enough or the tank doing very little. Support isnt just healing lol. Even if it was, you cant outheal mistakes like not using any cover, certain abilities etc.
i think it's a complete waste of effort to look at the stats on the board during a game. nobody below probably top 500 is able to parse and understand the stats in context during the game, and just use it to as a way to find a scapegoat. it's a misleading waste of effort. if people wanna analyze how the game went, they should watch a replay and be honest with themselves about what they did and how the fights played out.
I frequently look at the stats to determine who's more of a priority on my team and the enemy team, and that's just one example. Just because you get flammed for your stats doesn't mean stats are bad.
I don’t believe that there’s no Elo hell or they don’t do it on purpose, I went 5 games in a row last night on tank (currently silver) and every game I had silver and bronze teammates vs gold tanks and dps with other silvers, yet every time because I was the highest rank on my team, I was expected to win, against higher elo enemies, with bronze teammates. I got blamed of course and lost all 5 and got deranked twice because of “reversals” and losing streaks. How in tf is it a reversal if the enemy team was higher ranked than me and my entire team? Tf is blizzard on?
Every time I see the scoreboard, one team is a rockstar and the other a flop. I've noticed that Blizzard matches a lot of unbalanced teams, and I rarely see a truly good match.
Another big thing is a lot of people aren’t willing to put in the time to actually see results. Simply believing that you can get good in a short amount of time almost guarantees that you won’t get good at all. Most games today have evolved to have player bases that are very skill driven. But in order to get good you have to put in the time and effort
Basically it goes like this: If they are playing 1 counter and that person is FOCUSING you, adapt, or possibly swap. If they are playing 3 or more counters you should really consider if it is worth having to compensate your playstyle that much. Example: I love playing ball, and I will regularly play into Sombra; but if I see Sombra, Orisa and Lucio, I'm swapping, cuz I'll struggle kill anything through Lucio's amp, and and various boops and interrupts. Having to systematically hunt the other 2 players and trying to avoid 3 is WAY harder than just swapping to Dva.
Thanks for the video! Always enjoy them. A lot of great points but I wish it could apply to console players. Biggest issue on console ranking are ximmers. Especially on Asian servers. Looking forward to the season 10 vids!
The reason I haven't subscribed is due to your tips making me so angry that I have broken 12 keyboards in the past week as a result. This is peak competitive OW.
It’s incredibly annoying when 9 games out of 10 the enemy tank swaps to Zarya because I’m a Dva main. It’s annoying because they clearly think the swap means they just win. All it does is make my time less fun and it’s annoying af.
You sure you wanna do that? You do realise masters and above on console is like 80% zimmers right? Its bascially hardmode pc as theyre keyboard users with aim assist 😂 as far as in concerned, diamond is gm on console for the true console players and than you have your top 500 spread out across those ranks of god teir console players fighting aim assisted pc players all day, those guys are inhuman, but yea ive hit masters on pc and im still diamond on all roles on console except tank and than i just hit a brick wall where every game i see sus kill cams and potgs.
@@StarCrow77Gaming most gm console players say every game has at least 1 ximmer in it, if not many and they all play dps hitscan and just dominate your games. It's hard to tell if you dont also play pc, I can spot the subtle differences alot better then most as I play both pc and console but its overwhelming this season because ranked got new rewards and and all that so they're all coming out to ruin everyone's fun, but yea its getting so bad lately that I would pretty much say, the top 20% of console isnt even console anymore.
At 9:14 "You'll become a sort of specialist". That's a smooth point cos there are many players who got a fixation for one character (Sombra for instance) even if they not only are very bad at it but also are n't making any progress whost playing it cos they can't understand it no matter what they do. Those are dragging down their whole team and getting "avoid this player" stigma.
