One that stands out to me was Ziggler winning that Survivor Series match when Sting debuted - cant remember the year. The crowd got so behind him it reminded me of the vibes Kofi had leading up to his WM win. Unfortunately they just never did anything with him after.

To be fair about Fandango beating Chris Jericho, there were plans for Dango to win the Intercontinental Championship later that year but were scrapped due to an injury. Still, they did nothing with him after his return and he was solidified in a lower Midcard roll for the rest of his run

Finn and Bray would have also been great picks since they also have that supernatural side and Taker couple passed the torch, especially with Bray

It should have been someone that they had hopes of carrying the company going forward, not someone that was the closer side to retirement. I personally think it shouldn't have been broken, though, because whoever broke it, isn't guaranteed to the face, and it would have been wasted.

Considering he pinned the Rock in early 2003 and didn't have a title match (albeit tag with Rosey) until mid-2005 then it hardly led to anything. His Cruiserweight title run was after he'd switched to his real name nearly a full 3 years later. Also, he had those aforementioned title runs 2/3 years after the fact but before the win he'd had Cruiserweight, World Tag (with Kane), European and Hardcore reigns so actually won more as the Hurricane before the fact.

I think the story of Rico beating Flair was more to do with Flair 'losing his edge', I think it was the same night where a certain HHH got in Flairs face and said he was a disappointment. Flair, perhaps motivated, turned heel and aligned with HHH helping him retain the World Title. We all know the rest...

To be fair, Maven was part of the main event of Survivor Series 2004... sort of. He got his head caved in by Gene Snitsky and a steel chair. And, he twice challenged Shelton Benjamin for the Intercontinental Championship... and he lost twice... on the same night. He was also paired up briefly with Simon Dean for... reasons.

To be fair to the whole Fandango thing, he was almost certainly supposed to win the IC title from Wade Barrett at Payback that year, before a minor injury led to him getting replaced by Curtis Axel.

People forget in that undertaker era lost the title to edge in a ladder match, he also got beat up by big show at no mercy and then pinned by triple h for the first time in his career at no way out then he got beat by kozlov… think he also lost to Jeff hardy at some point in a extreme rules match a few months before they was having undertaker lose matches to make him look vulnerable going into Wrestlemania… the original idea probably wasn’t Shawn Michaels which is why he lost to the two heels he probably lost more matches in 2008 - early 2009 than he did in his later years or since he returned as the deadman in 2004 thankfully we had the great Shawn vs taker match at mania 25…

There's also something else they keep forgetting about. The MiB contract doesn't just mean the big title. Imagine if he used it to cash in to get Heavy Machinery a tag title, or even went after an IC title instead. It could easily be used that way, but they always book wrestlers as wanting to be on the top.

I honestly feel like there were plans for Otis cash-in his Money in the Bank at some point, but something derailed these plans. The Tucker betrayal and subsequent split of Heavy Machinery that ended Otis’s run as Mr Money in the Bank also didn’t make a lick of sense. With #1 on this list, there’s a little caveat to that. Fandango was scheduled to win the Intercontinental Championship at Payback 2013 in a Triple Threat with Miz and Wade Barrett, so the win against Jericho at Mania would’ve led to a big push for the Ballroom Bruiser. However, he suffered a concussion on the June 7th edition of SmackDown and was replaced by the man who would go onto to win the match and the gold, Curtis Axel. So Fandango maybe shouldn’t be on this list at all, because of circumstances out of his control.

For Cesaro's case, the push should lead to a match with Brock Lesnar since he became associated with Paul Heyman. But I guess plans changed as always.. But oh boy, could you imagine those two big bois in the ring?

first one that came to mind when i read the title of the video was zack ryder beating fandango on raw in like 2015 or something like that. ryder hadn't won a match on tv in literally years, not even an entrance outside of commercial breaks (not even for that match either i don't think) and he got a huge pop when he won. i'll never forget that. then after the win he was immediately back off tv for at least another year and a half because it wasn't to make ryder look good, it was just to bury dango even more

2:15 - Incorrect. Rock was given the option to compete for the number one contendership and rejected it. He chose to face Stone Cold at WrestleMania to finally get a victory against him and felt that held more importance than the World Heavyweight Championship. So this match with Hurricane was just improptu

I often wonder if WWE bookers schedule an upset just for the shock of it all with no long-term plans beyond that. Fandango beating someone who toppled Stone Cold and The Rock on the same night, lest we forget? And his debut match on WrestleMania? That had to be the start of something long-term. And yet, all we got out of it was that silly (albeit infectious) dance...

What about the Patriot beating Bret Hart on the Raw before the 1997 Summerslam. The USA vs Canada feud was in full swing at that time and after the Hart foundation had a dominate month where the last ppv and two Raws were in Canada where they were cheered, the USA struck back when a newly signed Patriot Del Wilkes scored a pin fall victory over Bret Hart delighting the American crowd they wrestled in front of. The feud was dead a month later and both men would be gone from the company by the end of the year.

When ever I hear someone mention Cesaro I think about stone cold asking Vince why he won’t put the title on cesaro and I agree but it shows EVERYONE knew Cesaros popularity but Vince
