Haha you gotta be kidding me lashley is a mma champ, tna champ, ecw champ, united states champ, intercontinental champ and 2x wwe champ how in the h... if he on this list
Khali pinned Taker with one foot; A job or a rub from a legend doesnt help if theres no audience connection. Or in Khalis case where the drizzling shits is a level he aspires to one day reach
Yeah, it was weird because it looked like that would be the match that got Kozlov over, but the next week they wrestled again and Taker won clean. Almost like the WWE was like, "oops, just kidding".
The WWE style adaptation for Sin Cara was definitely the downfall of his character. I would killed for that Rey vs Sin Cara feud if he had gotten over. The case of Bobby Lashley is such a sad story at least in WWE anyway. TNA/Impact Bobby Lashley was easily the greatest character development for a person.
Don’t know if you have ever noticed, but the WWE seems to treat their black stars almost as comedy acts. Look at the New Day. The ridiculous pancake shit. The stupid dancing and mugging for the camera Or R Truth as a hopelessly moronic character. Titus Worldwide was nothing but a comedy routine. Remember Mark Henry’s Sexual Chocolate days? And his affair with May Young? A few other names come to mind troughout the years. Koko Beware and his bird. The Godfather and his hoes. The Junkyard dog and his dumb “Grab Them Cakes” song. Then you have guys like Bobby Lashley or Shelton Benjamin who don’t do comedy very well and what happens to them? Their careers stagnate. The WWE has had a problem with their African American employees for a long time.
Sin Cara botch at his FIRST ENTRANCE was something hard to get over tough... It is something that probably never can get out of your head, so botches and botches followed...
@@alienlife7754 The New Day came up with the pancake and the dancing thing, not WWE. The same is true about R-Truth. Mark Henry was given Sexual Chocolate because he was a)Overpaid b) not that great in the ring c) he had an attitude in the locker room. They were hoping that he would quit so that they didn't have to pay his ridiculous contract. Shelton didn't have charisma at the time and they were just trying to see if they could get anything out of him. Koko Beware was already the Birdman before he was in WWE, and it was his Wife's idea for him to have the bird. If you are going to make accusations, you at least have to know what you are talking about.
@@andreasspichtig1182 if Jeff Hardy can do it, Mr. Kennedy could have done it. He got a pretty decent push as Anderson, but I think the microphone was just too cold by then.
I can't believe that Kozlovs biggest moment wasn't mentioned. Against Undertaker on Smackdown in 2009, Taker was doing 'old school', and Kozlov did what everyone else ever should have done with that move, pulled Taker off, turned it into a powerslam, and bingo he beat Taker with a clean pin.
It's insane how short that chapter is looking back on it now. No one expected Carmella to be the last one standing in that original act. It's like David Otunga with the Nexus.
@@goldenhydreigon4727 his mic skills only seemed good to me when he was doing little bit parts to compliment Enzo, he was awkward on the mic as a singles competitor
I thought that Kennedy was the biggest shame on the list...until I was reminded about Magnum TA. His "I quit" match with Blanchard was probably the most influential match on my youth. I probably watched it a hundred times, mainly because it was so violent and well done that I felt like I SHOULDN'T be watching it. God he was so good.
I remember watching some WWE "Where Are They Now" video about Kozlov from a couple years ago and he looked in way better shape and more shredded as a movie producer than he was as a wrestler.
Self inflicted wounds: Sin Cara, Nathan Jones, Ahmed Johnson, Mr. Kennedy. WWE/Vince's fault: Matt Morgan, Tom Magee. A little of both: Bobby Lashley, Vladimir Kozlov, Lex Luger. Worst of luck: Magnum T.A.
Johnson was a bit of both...kidney problems and a seriously ill sister are pretty bad luck. As for Tom McGee, he had a great look, and zero in-ring talent or charisma. He moved like an action figure with stiff joints, although he was also pretty athletic. Lots of his matches to watch on youtube.
I wasn't a fan at first, but he did kinda grow on me. Guy was built like a truck, but seemed to have real talent. They really should've gone with a different angle with him, because making a heel character a big angry foreigner with nothing else going for them personality wise is the laziest thing ever, bwcause it makes any feud with that character look like a parody of Rocky IV. Seriously, I don't think that gimmick ever works.
@@kinglucha3640 i mean the gimmick couldve been right but the way they wrote it was wrong. If they went about it another way he couldve succeeded. Alot like how they wrote rusev right with the who Bulgaria thing but they squashed him the moment he gained momentum when he was told not to
I almost feel that Magnum TA shouldn't be on this list because his was the result of a car crash. I remember watching his matches in 85 and 86. His "no quit" match against Tully Blanchard was amazing. Same with his best of 7 series against Nikita Koloff. Also, to get an idea as to just how over Magnum TA was back then, Nikita Koloff (a Soviet character in a southern wrestling federation during the mid-80's) became a face after Magnum's accident just by stating that he was saddened at the accident ("I cry for Magnum TA"). And just like that, all was forgiven by the fans.
Yeah, I always thought Daniels could’ve had a run with the belt in tna because he could have great feuds with aj, like I’ll never forget the I quit match where he jabbed a fork in his eye
I didn’t get into wrestling really until 2017, but I remember I would catch some of it as a kid while my dad was watching, and I immediately was drawn to Kozlov, cheered for him whenever he was on screen, when I got into it in 2017, I was like “Aw where’d he go? I remember being a big fan :(“
I would've loved seeing Ahmed winning the title, I was a fan. He's still got a place in my Boy Stable. Also, that Magnum P.A. story was really unfortunate.
Didn't even mention the fact that Mistico goes back to Mexico and WWE tries to cover it up by making Hunico, Sin Cara, like everyone wasn't going to suddenly notice that the man moved differently.
Sean O'Haire is on my list of next big things and missed opportunities. 2003 could've been a breakout year for him, the Devil's advocate character or getting paired with Roddy Piper. For a big man, he moved unlike most even performing an impressive swanton bomb and strength to pick up superstars like Rikishi with relative ease. Unfortunately, he faded off into non existence in Velocity
7:18, saying Bobby Lashley probably wouldn't be a big deal in WWE didn't age well. 30 seconds later, hearing a Ukrainian portrayed as Russian....ok, now that REALLY didn't age well.
I know outed myself as having a crush on Maffew in a live stream the other day, but N'AAAW HE LOOKS SO SWEET HOLDING HIS PHOTOSHOPPED LAPTOP. As you were.
So... Lashley's decline in WWE, was because of Vince and booking. Putting him in ECW killed him. Anyone with a brain saw it coming. Second, WWE didn't "release" Lashley, Lashley quit. He asked for his release, he wanted out. Initially they told him no, he basically said, ok, I'm not showing up... So... They released him.
when ECW wasnt going so well, vince split them into originals & new breed & out of the latter ,picked Elijah Burke as the NBT, (as opposed to Matt Striker, MCV, Kev Thorne & a fickle CM Punk). Burke was a talker but didn't use the Black Pope stick he did so well in TNA.
Good to see Lashley has proved people wrong, it’d be hard to say that he isn’t a star right now & it’s brilliant, huge fan of the man & adding MVP alongside him is great for nostalgia & nifty mic skills.
Ahmed Johnson's WWF career was worthwhile if only because it led to Jim Ross's line in the Royal Rumble about Mark Henry "handling the big Johnson" lol And why did Ahmed wear two sets of kneepads anyway? I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do that...
Better examples would be Adam Cole, Nakamura and Hideo Itami and keith lee. People thought these guys would be world champs and they all were jobbers. Nobody thought kozlov would be anything beyond the next umaga
I'm glad you put Lex Luger at #1. I still say it to this day that was one of the biggest screw ups in wrestling history. That narcissist gimmick was perfect for him they should of kept him a heel the fans wouldn't of crapped on it. Even in the early days of WCW Luger was a heel.
Wait.... you fools really put bobby lashley on this list?? Haha you gotta be kidding me lashley is a mma champ, tna champ, ecw champ, united states champ, intercontinental champ and 2x wwe champ how in the h... if he on this list you must be smoking something
