One of these days I'll upload a version of this song from Summerfest in Milwaukee from July 1995. They played an afternoon show that day because Pearl Jam headlined at the Marcus Amphitheater later that night. The Collective Soul show was broadcast live on Milwaukee's venerable 93.3 WQFM and I was able to record it on cassette tape. Stayed tuned.....
There was a video of the live performance of this song, but it got removed. I hope this rare recording doesn't get taken down because I love this song, which was originally written for "Ed E" (along with "Over Tokyo")! This recording shows how good the original band was at jamming live. Ross and Shane are finally allowed to cut loose, and the whole band really gives the audience a fantastic classic rock performance. Back in their heyday, Roland and Childress complicated each other so well--songwriting + skilled guitar.
Aaron Hart It certainly is! Maybe the fallout between Ed and Ross in 2001 is the reason why it's so difficult to find B tracks, rare tracks, and unreleased tracks from their Atlantic Records era. Ed Roland has said that the band owns all of their songs, so I don't know why else they wouldn't put out an album of "extras" for their diehard fans.
