Glad you mentioned Firewalker from 1986 starting Chuck Norris and Louis Gossett Jr but it should have made the list. I think it even had John Rhys Davies (Sallah) in it!

Don't forget the short-lived TV series Tales of the Gold Monkey starring Stephen Collins. Sure it was a TV show that only lasted one season, but it was clearly an Indiana Jones rip-off.

Kind of, it was an attempt to bring back the TV serials that inspired Indy in the first place. Loved the show so much.

I had about 6 minutes of "Legend of the Four Crowns" living in my head rent free for about 30 years until I asked a forum to ID it for me. I had always assumed I imagined some of the images.

Fun fact: Sharon Stone got her part in King Solomon's Mines due to a misunderstanding during the casting process. Producer Menahem Golan wanted "that Stone woman," apparently referring to Kathleen Turner, who had just starred in Romancing the Stone. His words were misunderstood and Sharon Stone was cast instead. Imo the 1999 Mummy movie with Brendan Fraser is the best Indiana Jones clone ever made. It perfectly captures the spirit of Raiders of The Lost Ark.
@scottneil1187
@scottneil1187 Год назад
Except The Mummy is a remake, the original came out way before Raiders.
@wimvanderstraeten6521
@wimvanderstraeten6521 Год назад
@@scottneil1187 The 1999 Mummy is not really a remake of the movie with Boris Karloff. it's very loosely based on it, but the original is an atmospheric horror movie, whereas the 1999 movie is an action-adventure movie in the vein of the Indiana Jones movies, with some horror elements.

Here in Brazil Jackie Chan was well known, Chinese movies used to air as fillers during dawn on open TV. There were lots and lots of Jackie’s movie at the VHS rental stores and I saw many of them when I was a kid. There were even Jackie Chan ripoffs like Jack Chan or Jackie Chen movies… 😂 I highly recommend Sir Henry Rider Haggard books with Allan Quatermain. They are really well written, fun and his descriptions of wild Africa are memorable (if I’m not mistaken, he didn’t know much about wild Africa, he lived in South Africa). Considering he was more in line with European Colonialists, he seemed to respect Africa and its people.

Is Phantom Lake High School from a movie or reality? I thought Tennessee Buck started OK as a B-movie knockoff...but holy crap does it take a dark, unpleasant turn. It cant really be fun after that. Apparently Keith David and David Keith used to get confused by casting directors. More than once they showed up to the same place and realized somebody made a mistake... I still need to see Armor of God.

I have never looked to see who the director was on The Curse but had been meaning to for a while, after hearing about what Wil Wheaton and his sister endured on set. It’s very disappointing to find out it was David Keith. I’ll never see Firestarter the same way again and gladly take Zac Efron instead. I also won’t be watching his rapey Indiana Jones rip off.
