I can't believe I just found this video now. I've come to the point in life where I feel like I need to start taking steps towards achieving financial freedom for my future i.e starting some businesses running. But the number one obstacle for me was FEAR. I'm always more of an introvert and scared of what anyone think of me. It might seem silly but it's something that I've been struggling with since young. I can't seem to socialize well with anyone. But I'm slowly taking steps to overcome this and I've recently started my own graphic design business. Hope everything goes well. You and Mary have inspired me a lot! :)

WOW, thanks so much, Sophie 😊. We need to do a specific video on that. I think you'll enjoy this Day Im The Life video if you've not already seen it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-14OyxUJv9I0.html
My favourite point was to take action every day. One foot after the other! This is basically taking ownership of your life and walking in faith! Nice content! Thank you!
If I could give multiple thumbs up, I would. It’s genuine, you give so much, you touch on many of the principles and values that matter to me and you give me the confidence that I can make it happen too. Thank you Ken.
I think the biggest shift is from consumer to producer. I still consume but tend to consume learning based content from books, videos and the web in general (as opposed to mindless TV) I’ve taken a strange journey to to get to the Humble Penny from The Minimalists to David Ramsey to the FI podcast. All of you seem to share similar values on living responsibly, living with intention and giving generously. Responsible living, intentional living and generosity are what I’m building my new life on as my values. You’re doing such valuable work Ken and it’s wonderful to have the UK context for a change!
Hey Anthony I deeply appreciate your message of encouragement. Thanks so much! You're right that we need a lot more of this in the UK. This is part of why we are so excited to be creating content for the UK on RU-vid and via the blog. Interesting how you found us too! I love all those other platforms you mentioned. I wish you well on the journey of personal development. Do please keep watching and spread the word 😀
Wonderful message, Ken. I've always believed that honesty, integrity and transparency are essential for business. You and Mary are such a lovely couple. Thank you for all your videos.
Awesome 😁. Glad to hear it! We got too excited editing it and experimented with a few new ideas to see how people would respond. The editing takes more time than it might appear :)
These are brilliant and key concepts you're imparting---so thank you and now I am a subscriber--love your content--it's particularly powerful information.
This is life advice more than it is financial advice. Very good it is too. Good stuff - keep it up! I'm subbed to your channel, and I think you talk a barrel-load of good sense.
The mindset of moving to building a life based on independence has been both a profound one and a challenge. It not only goes against the grain of what's normal, but it seems to be a lonely road. Like crabs in a barrel.
Hey Re, you hit the nail on the head with the point about it going far against the grain and also being lonely. It's in many ways a deeply personal journey but also a fulfilling and liberating one. Soon though on that path, you start to find your tribe. But make no mistake, it's testing to say the least.
Hey Ken, great content you're putting out there. I'm married with 2 kids as well (late 30s) and seeking a life of independence as quickly as possible. Your content really appeals to me and coming from East London myself (Stratford) I can relate to your goals. Will definitely check out more videos
The Humble Penny I never gave much thought to how we identified ourselves by our careers/ jobs. I am thinking about this and will respond deliberately.
If you create a budget to manage your finances better to be able to save and invest money then it makes sense to do the same with your time. Everyone has the same time but what you do with that time is important too. So by managing your time better you can concentrate on learning or creating something to generate an extra income. For example, using public transport, whilst on the bus or train you could listen to a self improvement audio book. Iwrite a few lines of a book, crochet or knit a scarf as a present for a birthday or Christmas present, read a book. Most people I see on bus and train journeys are either on their smart phones on social media, listening to music way too loud, sleeping or just staring out of the window. On my way to work I prefer to create or learn something that brings me joy and what could bring joy to someone else. My journey to work is about 2 hours travel time each way. The way I see it is why waste that time when you can be actually doing something constructive.
