Hi Marisa thank you for this video. I was left with many thoughts after watching your video about toxic people. Would you make a video about good relationships and how you identify good people like your relationship with your husband seems to be?
I love how you and your husband work together for a beautiful life. The glimpses you share, he seems so genuine with you and happy to create a your world together (not just going through the motions). 💝
I love how calm your voice sounds ! I’m so tired of people yelling in you tube videos and giving me anxiety! It’s so stressful! I love how you are clear calm and concise advise in a soothing tone. Thank you 🙏🏾🕊❤️
Hi Marissa, we live on the island in Greece, so lots of sand used to come home with us from the beach. Now we make sure to clean our shoes and socks right after the beach, at the sidewalk next to the beach before we leave for home. Just wanted to share this tip as it saved us a lot of time.
I love the one-in-one-out rule and practice it. I also keep surfaces clear and try to have fewer surfaces to worry about (i.e. less furniture). It's a joy to clean my small apartment, but it's only that way because of fewer things to keep track of.
I especially like the hint about thinking differently and just needing and wanting less. I'm so glad I am to this state of mind by now when inflation is so bad and the financial outlook is so uncertain.
The tip with the boxes to contain stuff which are kept on open surfaces is so good! I already used it for the washing maschine where the cleaners just always looked so messy till I sewed a box from fabric and cardboard to neatly put all the bottles and boxes away. Also the kitchen counter got a box for the daily used oil and vinegar together with the pepper grinder... At the moment I'm trying to get my sewing room/ office more structured and I probably first should think about my intention. Great tip I should already know from previous videos you did. So thanks for the great reminder 😊 Take care and greetings from Bavaria to Berlin 🙋♀️
Love your new wall decor! Funny my husband told me that for some reason our house looks the best on Mondays. I am like… well it is because my girl Marisa inspires me every Monday to declutter and simplify our life! Thank you ❤️ for your videos
I LOVE your choice of wall art! 😍 Your intentionality is very evident, as it suits the space SO well.👌🏼 It’s such a beautiful pairing that I honestly assumed they came attached to each other as one piece; you are so creative! 😍👏🏼 This was a really great list of healthy, practical ideas and reminders for maintaining a healthy, *zen-like* state of harmony in any home. ☺️ Thank you so much! ❤️ Lots of love to you and your family! 🤗
My favorite space in the house is our sun room. My intention for that room is that it is functional as a dining room but also that it is cozy and relaxing. The dining room function is working well but the relaxing spot I still have to create.
I can definitely relate to habit 3! It’s happened to me numerous times that I will wait for an item that I really want, and I somehow end up getting it for free or super cheap. For example: I was waiting for yard sales to buy our kids a bike.. and found a barely used one on the side of road with a “free sign” that also had training wheels JUST like I had wanted. I wanted Birkenstock’s but was not willing to pay the price and found a pair for $6 at a thrift store. Patience can save LOTS of money.
My favorite room in my apartment is my bedroom. It is where I relax and fall asleep at night and it is where I retreat during when I need some down time (aka nap). It has a bed, dresser, and 2 night stands. No electronics! I can often find a cat or 2 asleep in there at any time of the day or night. It is where my kidlet snuggled in at night when she was having a hard time sleeping. It is the only room with 2 windows so lots of sun and a great cross breeze right over the bed. I keep my bedroom simple, neat, and calm all year round!
Maybe because they get used the least, but our 2 bathrooms are my favorite spaces in the house. They’re always neat and tidy. They didn’t always used to be. Since I decluttered those spaces 2 years ago, they’ve remained clean and tidy. There’s only towels/wash cloths/hand towels and daily essentials right in the drawers under the sink and nothing sits on the countertops except the soap pump and a faux plant in the kids bathroom (also guest bath when we have company over). There’s pattered black and white tile that looks like a quilt covering half of the walls and the other half is unpainted shiplap and it’s beautiful ❤️
🚪I’m in the motivation stage (looking at what is possible and setting goals before our whole house declutter) but happy to say I am familiar with some of the ‘habits’ and already follow some. YAY!
Your boys look so cute with their new haircuts. So grown up! My favorite space is my bedroom! So cozy and it stays tidier because we have made a place for everything. Love these habits!!! I’m so lucky, like your husband, my husband has bought into the keeping things clean and tidy.
Thank you so much for your videos! I’m from Germany so it’s really refreshing to see all the products that I grew up with represented - doesn’t happen a lot! Your content is inspiring because we’ll be moving in a couple months and now I’m editing all the stuff we own and need all the help I can get. Top quality videos! Keep it up!
I've thanked you before. But I would like to thank you again! 🙏 You are such an inspiration ♥ You've helped me on my journey. Especially rule #3. The intentional buying has reset my mind soooo much. It has cut my impulse purchases strongly. Now I ONLY purchase items I dedicated a space to BEFORE making the purchase. This way, if I cannot 'find' a reasonable space, I know it's not a priority to me. Your approach of watching what I bring in rather than make sure to organise everything has reset my mind - I've been able to step back from a few ideas this way and not cluttering my space unneccesarily. You also gave me a new impulse to organise my digital clutter. I am proud to say, I was able to delete three digit GB clutter over the past few weeks. It's been freeing! I think it's especially hard to let go of pictures, though I find a well curated collection brings way more joy than an overwhelming pile. I enjoy my images the most when I take the time to put them in a photo book, maybe even with a few notes. I am still at a very early point in my journey, but I can see the organisation slowly spread to different areas 🙂
Hi, Marissa! My favorite room in my house is the upstairs loft. It’s a theatre, with our TV, DVD, etc, but it’s also my sitting room. We have a futon that is soooo comfy. I just love sitting in there! :)
Hello Peaceful Lady. Ive been so Blessed by you for years now. Thankyou for the laughter and the tears. You see your personality and approach speaks my language. Even the Perfectionism.
I used to have a home office in the basement that was never used because the floor tile was dark green and the room was blah. My husband chipped up and replaced the tile with light brown laminate that looks like wood and put my treadmill and spin bike in there, my girlfriend had a huge mirror in her closet that she gave him that we glued to the wall and I bought the billy bookcase from IKEA and put all of my photo boxes on it. I absolutely love the new room and it makes me want to workout more when the weather in Indiana is crumby. ❤️
I’ve been working on our bedroom for a few months. I have this vision of a cozy, comfy place to sit and read a book, get ready for bed, bedtime stories with the kids, and just somewhere I feel calm and relaxed in. Still a work in progress, but it’s definitely getting there. :) I’ve been trying to make it a habit of take items to the room I’m going to in order to keep things less cluttered. I fold the laundry in my bedroom. So when I have to run to the kitchen for a drink (usually for the kids), I try to bring the kitchen items along with me if I hadn’t put them up already and any dishes if a glass has gotten left behind. It really does seem so easy but I’ve had to really mentally think about it sometimes. It has helped though. Lovely video, as always. :)
Love your wall art! Good job on waiting for the perfect piece. I am still trying to master the waiting game and teaching myself to enjoy a empty space instead of trying to fill it with something right away 🤦♀️
I love all of these tips, especially the last one. You have a beautiful way of explaining the process on how to get there in our own way, rather than “you must do this”. I really enjoy your videos.
Love the new wall art! I noticed it at the beginning of the video and wondered if it was new. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It is the main space I regularly decorate for holidays. I want it to be a place that makes me smile. I put things in my kitchen that I enjoy looking it since I use it so much. Right now it has some fun summer decor. It is my happy space 🥰
My fav room is definitely the living room. We don't have a lot on our walls, and our living room is very spacious because we just don't have a lot of stuff. My intention is to radiate peace as soon as you enter, because the first thing you look at in your home determines the feelings you will have throughout the rest of your home, so the first area in your home that you see when you come in is the most important, in my opinion
I can't believe I was one of the first 1,000! Thanks so much :) Love the advice and I'm already lost in Skill share! I didn't realise how quick, easy and applicable the tutorials were. Thanks :)
I had travel a lot during studies and over that period I bought a lot of fake jewelry. I don't even want to imagine how much money I spent. And it's all gone by now. Also I didn't wear it that much because I didn't have that much time to party. But somehow for almost every time I bought something new. Now my jewelry rule is simple - only silver! Even if I don't go out that much, I know they will be okay after months and years to come. Maybe not that big step improvement, but it really works for me and I don't feel like I have lost money 🙂
Favorite place in my tiny apartment - my sofa+coffee table area (aka the "living room"). Intention: relaxation and socializing. That table see many game nights😁
You had me on #1😍 so look forward to your videos &all you create! Tell the boys I love their haircuts ! HUGE THANK YOU Marissa 💕keep up the wonderful inspiration🌟
Wow new to your channel. So I love the look of a cozy kitchen full of granny stuff doilies and all and I really wanted that so I did it stuff on the walls wallpaper fruit baskets hanging from the ceiling cast iron pans however everything has a place even though it could be called cottage core for me it’s perfect cluttered but not cluttered and that gave me my fix and the rest of the house is uncluttered and clean yet I have one room for me the kitchen. I have to figure out how to do this in the kitchen without cluttering the kitchen and I did. I think it’s a good way if you want a little more than pick ones room whatever room you want it’s a little of both worlds
I remember seeing a special kind of candle in a catalog: A super long wax string wound up to a tight spiral in a candle holder with only the uppest part of the candle being held upright so it could be lit. I loved the candle. For a few years I got the catalog, it always contained this candle and I wanted it! But I was (and still am) very cautious about buying decorative items because they tend to become clutter so easily. And then, when I finally was ready to buy it - a friend of mine told me that he was decluttering a bit and showed me the items: Amongst them was _exactly_ that candle! Of course, he gladly gave it to me :) Since then, the candle has happily been living in my home, my friend has a bit less clutter, I got a new candle for free that I really wanted, win-win!
Help me please 🥺😭. First time watching. Absolutely love the mental aspect, and I need this is my life. My main struggle is the bi- level entryway. I walk into no room with stairs going up or down. How can I achieve storage in such a tiny area? I am loving your content. Thank you so much. I look forward to being a future minimalist.. I look forward to incorporating this in my life. I appreciate you. Thank you so much 🥰 for this. Truly necessary. 💜💜💜
I cleared our 5 garbage bags full of "stuff' that really wasn't needed, or used ever. Feeling much better. But still room for improvement. I love my bedroom and I still need to complete it. My bedroom is my relax area, pamper area, watch my RU-vid channels and reading room.
I love your wall art! You did a great job picking a textured piece. Your rooms look really inviting with those simple touches. Thanks for your tips, as always. I am making good progress and appreciate your inspiration.
I live in a 3 bedroom home and each room has multiple but clear purposes, so I always know what goes where. There's my office/board game room, my guest room/art studio, and my bedroom/piano room. One thing I've found helpful is to limit a collection to a certain space. I have 2 shelves of books, I can't get more if those shelves are full. Same for my collection of board games - 2 shelves and no more.
Your storage at the door I have something similar but at present it is less organisational as we have all the painting needs as we are painting at present. Just two more areas left to paint including this area then we head outside
I really like the way you arranged those pieces on the wall. I’ve seen similar things but haven’t liked the material or colors or it just looks cold and stark. But this looks beautiful, interesting, and is a nice color combo. Something about the textures makes me happy ✨😁size and balance is great too. Really looks perfect there. U chose well🎉
Many years ago I heard a talk on "dejunking your life." The emphasis was on the mental and emotional clutter we collect and how to clear it out. One comment she made when talking about unfulfilled intentions and life plans and why they haunt us forever is: "Your brain can't take a joke!" We say we'll write a letter to an old friend or learn a foreign language or whatever, but we always have an excuse to put it off. We need to admit to ourselves that it ain't gonna happen and have a good sit-down talk with our brain to let it go!
We added a mudroom a few years ago. Because of building constraints, it is small (but mighty!) - I have pieced together so much functionality in that space it's not even funny lol
My living room I down sized to a sofa and 2 chairs instead of 2 sofas. I started using a list on my phone everytime I go to a store or yard sale. I also, do not buy new furniture or New cloths or shoes. All my attiror my bf or family buys or I go to the church sale fill a bag f $1 I which I get many pieces f $1. I wood fill and repaint furniture. Plus, I use my kitchen knife f patio cushions and covering fabric on my chairs. The patio cushions were $1each. I also got a 18' metal bed frame from eBay f $100 I which I store a few bins w stuff under the bed. I go through my stuff every day and things family brings me I put in my yard sale or online sales and make money to pay bills. My boxes make flat or use them to hold garbage to put outside. My children's stuff as they put grow do not play w it I sell it or donate or use cloths that are too worn to use as rags and throw away. As f people that do not reciprocate I tell them I am busy. Great, video
