Minimalism changed my life and it can change yours! I was an emotional hoarder with nothing but the clutter from lost loved ones -- and $25,000 of debt -- to my name. Now, I have a beautiful home in Europe, a happy family, live debt-free, and - best of all - wake up to a life that I'm EXCITED to live every day.
Minimalism is so much more than an empty white space - it's about creating a happier space for your family. A space that's full of the most important thing: LOVE! That's what being a minimalist mom means to me!
Now my mission is to help real families just like us conquer their clutter and simplify their way to a happier and better life. I would LOVE IT if you would subscribe to my channel so I can help you, too!
Buy your own showerhead! We rent, and the places we have been always had the crappiest showerheads. We have a showerhead that is a big square with a separate hose attachment. It was like $40 and only takes a few minutes to swap out the original. I love a relaxing shower. I can't make my tiny tub from the 80s bigger or get a wall mounted toilet, but I can add my showerhead and bidet! One way we've made our cheap rentals more comfortable ❤ Just don't accidentally throw out the original or you'll have problems on moving day!
Very helpful video, but is there a black version of these videos? I live in the hood and my house looks different from yours. We don't use sunscreen or have schoolwork to declutter. My house is full of cans and boxes. How do I decide what to throw out? black version
We have to buy Scottissue because of the septic tank. It’s thinner and not sosoft, but you get a lot more. I tried Walmart brand, which was thicker and softer, but eventually had to have the septic tank pumped.
When you talked about “homemade coffee” I was wondering how you “made” your own coffee. 😊 Then I realized it was coffee made from home rather than purchased at a coffee shop. 😂
I’ve been trying to get my mom to declutter the trays and pans she keeps inside her oven for *years* now. They’re blackened, warped, she buys new ones, she keeps the old ones. The weight is literally bending the rack inside the oven.
It’s so hard being in limbo, between homes, not knowing how soon things might change. Amazing how much of what piled up was actually trash and recycling, how much progress was made just dealing with that 🥵 😮💨

Fun vlog.. but Nope!.. I don't have ANY trash "lying around" the house (on floors, tables, in cupboards etc). My trash is only in trash/recycle bins.. i always immediately put stuff in trash bins.. if upstairs.. put it at the top of stairs to come down. Then I always take stuff up and down stairs each time I go up and down, so I never get a build up of stuff. But definitely have other systems that don't work.. eg paper clutter in kitchen... so that needs work!
We are looking into developing some raw land and getting a smaller home put on that what we are in now. Literally the only way I can think of owning again. I also have massive trauma I'm fighting with right now about selling our last home... man if I could go back in time. I'm going to have too see if that face wash is on your amazon list and you're makeup looks like a natural glow! The lower initial view count almost makes youtube not as terrifying. The thought of being perceived by others makes my skin curl lol Thank you for always being so honest with us but staying within your own boundaries.
i injured my neck, looking in a mirror. i was 20 and in the military. it can happen to anyone at anytime. thank you for being your authentic self. we desperately need more of that 💛
Great content Marissa. (But i did wonder that you took on yourself the responsibility of clearing away the kids' morning toys... i dont have kids of my own but coukd you have left them till the kids got home and have them ckwar them before having their snack or playing outside?... teaching consequences... maybe I'm speaking too critically.... apologies!). Best regards. G Ire
I remember my aunt driving 2 hours to a specific store to save 5$ on shoes for her kids (so 10$ - 2 kids) but ended up spending 10$ worth of gas as well as buying lunch for the whole family at a mall food court. Waste of time and not much saving there.
Any kind of vessel or box is great for stationary. I've used empty candle jars and even the container my ipod nano (so vintage haha) came in to store sticky tabs, pens etc.
I love door hangers and hooks, they are a lifesaver, especially in winter because i dont have a dryer but need the space to air dry clothing. These ikea ones are neat, i love how you stabilised it with the additional hanger.
Oh man I’m in clutter debt taking vacation this week to deal with it now wow I never want to be in clutter debt again this is good inspiration while I’m declutterring and organizing thanks love the channel
Bless your heart Marissa for donating your gorgeous hair! 🥰 By the age of 42 I was a 2 times Breast Cancer Survivor, I was devastated when I lost all my hair! 💕 Soon I will be celebrating my 64th birthday! 🥳
i think my biggest thing is i have so much i want to get rid of but i’m like “i could be selling this” and then i put off cleaning it and everything to sell it. like the idea of making money from it makes me keep it and it’s so irritating.
We have a Keurig, but use the reusable pod. Saying not to buy the machine is misleading. The cost is the pre-made pods. We got this one cup machine after our 14 cup machine died because most of the coffee was being wasted. This forces you to make it one cup at a time, and my husband now MAYBE makes 2 cups per day. Saved us a bunch.
On knives, I have a knife I was given way back in the 70s, and it was old at that time. Anyway I have purchased knives to replace it throughout the years but I always end up using that old knife. It has a lime green plastic handle and it’s still hanging in there. Sometimes I actually sit and ponder about how this knife has made it through all my moves, travels, even my kids grew up using this knife. It’s a puzzle piece that has a place in my life.
I was a surgical technician for over thirty years, if you have diabetes, vascular disease or arthritis anywhere on your body, do not buy cheap shoes. The reason I say arthritis anywhere is because it is in joints years before you feel the symptoms. If you treat your feet correctly the arthritis symptoms may be postponed much longer.
