There’s probably a new generation of angler that know very little about Steve but if you know you know. One of the best and most consistent anglers ever to have fished for England. Fantastic angler.

Drew next to the maestro, realised very quickly that I wasn't going to keep up with him and spent most of the time watching a time and motion display - learnt a lot

Steve referred to his having been an engineer and how important it is to make sure everything in the preparation is right. So many of the good match anglers come from an engineering background. Both engineering and successful match fishing require a disciplined and meticulous approach, thorough preparation and leaving nothing to chance.
