Battlegrid was much better and there was actual reason to have the whole "first person walking in a dropship" thing. It is useless now, especially when in campaign you have to walk again and again to the holotable.

The earlier you complain the better chance you have of it being resolved when the game releases. So yeah things can be expected to change before release. But they wont change them unless they know that we want them changed.

Complaining about a game you only watch and not actually played is totally different. Game developers are less likely to listen to your complaints now then if you get in on the betas. The way this person played will be different from what you play. The purpose of the video is to get you into the action and see some of what you can face, also who knows what difficulty this person was playing on. which again might not be the difficulty you play on there for your experience will be different. Right now it is best to ask questions and try to get them to show you more and different difficulties in the newer videos. This also might be a developer play through which means the damage being done to the mech is reduced. The point of this video is more to show you the state of where they are then to give any real danger you might feel on a mission.

it's almost as if those people didn't play the other mech warrior games those small units did fight mechs... even in table top it could happen...

And so they have to get the NPC's to stop saying the same damn line over and over again...

yeah all the vehicles seemed quite small. The Shadowhawk is a 55 ton 'mech. Vehicles in the Battletech universe though can range all the way up to 100 tons, rivaling even the largest 'mechs. I hope we can see some of the larger vehicles. Maybe even my favorite, the 100 ton Mars-XL, though that's a clan tracked vehicle so maybe in a expansion?

@@omniscension8967 There are a lot of obvious downgrades from this demo compared to the official release. The UI in the release looks unfinished, like something you'd see from a game thats on Alpha testing and they're just using place-holders, the lighting is very sterile and mute, very noticeable in the Hangar. Unless you're playing with mods, the final game feels unfinished.

Same here. As long as the aesthetic fits the tone they're going for, I'm not fussed about textures that are slightly fuzzier than the theoretical maximum.

If i could get it running i'd be playing mech2 mercs, graphics are overrated.

Due to the video quality I can't really get a good impression of the texture quality. But I did learn that MW5 will have mod support so we could see UHD texture packs in the future.

The terrain and a few other things could certainly use some improvement, but if the game plays well, I'll take it. It's been a long, long time since I've had a good single-player Mechwarrior experience.

The mechlab will likely be more like MWO's own, than 4's. Co-op campaign will be available, up to 4 players. Mod support, too.

MW4 mechlab was too simple, I actually like the one from MWO much more.

This is set in pre-clan Inner sphere, a time period that hasn't been visited since mechwarrior 1, but constitutes the majority of the lore time frame...we're pumped.

The actual timeline end for MW5 is vague, some sources claim that we'll see the Clan invasion, while others, including PGI's initial info at the reveal, stated the timeline ends at 3049.

I believe the official was 3015-3049. Fits perfectly, I think. We'll get the cusp of SWIII and all of SWIV, plus War of 39.

Curious how they'll implement these events, if they'll just exist outside of your experience or if you can actually participate if you work for specific factions.

You can still play MW4 Mercs on Windows 10. Google it, guides all over the place to get it working.

Ignore the centries and go for the three APUs at the base of each dropship first. It will slow down their startup procedures so that we can destroy them before they get their weapons online.

I hope that this is just a beta pre-scripted mission gameplay. The actual missions might have these tactic elements. Well, I cannot say for sure, but that's just my opinion.

It’s not really different from Mech 4, where the first few missions were just you killing small targets until you acquired enough mechs to contend with harder targets.

What you’re talking about is nuance and attention to detail. PGI doesn’t really understand that. Got to give them some credit though, they definitely understand the complex ratio between the love a dedicated fan base has for an IP, and how much they can gouge that fan base’s eyes out with micro transactions and empty promises. I keep hearing people saying that this is just early gameplay stuff so we should rest assured that more is coming. When it comes to PGI what you see is what you’re going to get. They will sell pipe dreams all day long and hook you in but it’s probably not going to happen.

Good idea, lets judge the entire game from one IGN demo misson. There's probably on 10 minutes of gameplay for the entire game and each mission is exactly the same as this one.

you mean when the pilot turned thier exsposed back to that maschine gun locust, or a PPC catapult? yeah.

If you notice, they have 1000 rounds for weapons that normally wouldn't be able to carry that much.

Yeah, I don't have the exact figures at the moment, but it's packing nearly 20 tons of ammo, on a 50 ton mech. The weapons alone are going to weigh north of 12 tons. Maybe a couple more for the jumpjets. But hey, demo. They didn't wanna run out of ammo in the middle, and fudged the numbers a little too high. Still looks like it'll be great in a year, come release day.

Considering salvage is supposed to be part of the game according to recent press releases, I'm sure the functionality is there especially since you can do it in Mechwarrior Online , and you can see in the video that positional limb damage is a feature. Just blame the random shooting on the bad piloting, and the fact that the campaign management game isn't ready yet so no reason for the player to actually be accurate in their shots.

As far as i can tell you probably can, the issue with press videos on games is that they dont play nearly as long as the rest of us..so they likely are just pushing to get it done is compared to having fun with it like we do.

@@MrBones-cu1vi yeah. No strafing, no attempts to even out the damage, getting blindsided multiple times, wasting ammo on several occasions. I was cringing on the combat skill side of things in the video.

Demos are for everyone to play, not just people you qualify as good enough

As a showcase of what it is normally a skilled player does the demo/trailer video. Meh. Coming from MWO and watching this hurts my brain.

I call BS man. You've surely seen an IS heavy with an XL try and spearhead a charge too early, and get squished by a single Alpha by an assault. Not every mechwarrior is an expert. Or great. Or very good. Or halfway decent. ...That got depressing to say, I'm not gonna lie.

if they got a professional to play this they would probably take 30-40 mins to do the video, but make it back to the drop ship with no damage and all enemy units on the map destroyed x'D

Well whether you're a pro or not, not taking damage in a mechwarrior game is impossible, more so if you're fighting other mechs

Yeah great game. I was into all the old 90's mech games like Shattered Steel, Heavy Gear, Earthsiege, Shogo, the Mechwarrior games and similar games like Uprising. G-Nome was ahead of its time in some ways like how you could actually get in and out of your mech.

Agreed, I loved traveling the desert waste and suddenly getting intercepted by random enemies some strong and some groups

VR support with a HOTAS control scheme would be GLORIOUS

Problem with VR are primitive controls. I like to use a joystick and lots of keys on the keyboard (which you can't see with a VR bin on your head) for a sim game.

Logitec has a sollution to this, but it's not on the market (yet). Might be when MW5 launches. You just snap some sort of mini vive thing to the side of your keyboard and your keys should light up if you 'look' at it in vr
