Nobody has a release like him. It’s so quick and clean that blinking may just mean missing this mans shot. I am a huge fan of Laine started watching him play in Finland and since he was drafted I’ve been at so many games and watched him absolutely fire it so home countless times. Will miss see him in Winnipeg blue best of luck with Columbus Patty!✈️
I'll never forget the comeback against Toronto and the game winner by Laine....the arena was shaking! Going to miss that shot here in Winnipeg, that's for sure!
I'm still amazed at his one-timer goal from the top of the circle at 6:24...the sound of his stick hitting the puck and the sound of the puck hitting the post happen at almost the same instant. What an incredible weapon Laine's one-timer is.
There's no one in the NHL with a wrister that releases so fast and travels with such velocity, as Laine's. You notice it especially on OT. Like Matthews said about the night Laine scored on OT against Leafs, most guy's arms and hands are too tired to fire a bullet at that point anymore. Now before the Leafs fans come here and blow smoke, please understand I'm not saying Matthews wrister isn't good or for example Tarasenko's, theirs just don't have the velocity that Laine's has. Matthews uses dragging wristers very well, so well in fact that some uninformed Leafs fans think he invented it. But please know it has been around for 15 years already. But Matthews mixes his ability to find open ice and goal-scoring instincts with the dragging wrister and you got yourself a very difficult job for the goalie.
Look at the bend in that stick… the way he leans into the ice… so impressive! I used to love watching him play. I’d hate to be a goalie playing against him.
@@MuhammadZegras loved him as the Jets fan and I think he has potential, it’s just he needs to get his confidence set straight in my opinion because there would be times and I would be watching and he would go scoreless for like a lot of games
Wierd that I miss Buff more...hate the trade...Laine is the best talent the Jets had since Selanne...but if I could have 3 PLD or 3 Buffs or 3 Laine...I would take 3 Buffs to the cup...
i'm not sure I'd go that far on Laine's talent. He's absolutely got one of the best shots in the league, and when he's on it can be surprisingly effective at stickhandling, so he's got theoretical potential to be an absolutely terrifying offensive powerhouse, but so far he's horribly inconsistent, and the rest of his game hasn't done much to make up for the offensive dry spells. I hope that he does get that consistency at some point, but right now it's not there. totally with you on Buff though. guy was a one of a kind, and a real impact player.
I hear Winnipeg is really toxic in the dressing room. Why wouldn’t he want to play on a top team with a positive locker room. And Toronto didn’t “pass” on him. Matthews GP 390 G 240 A 184 P 428 (0.63 goals per game) Laine GP 394 G 174 A 143 P 317 (0.44 goals per game) Pretty clear who is the better player. Next look at where Matthews ranks in career goals per game. There are only 4 players ahead of him. He’s ahead of Gretzky.
@@disinformationworld9378 all what you say is true, but look what Liane went threw, both in Winnipeg and Columbus. Had he had solid coaching and mentoring around him for the transition his numbers would have been better..
If he wasn't scoring he was a useless bum with zero defensive skill. He hated WPG and it sounds like he wasn't well liked by some of his teammates. Good riddance.
He's come a long way from that situation though. It's been fun to watch him develop and it will continue to be fun. It's the journey that matters, and we aren't even close to the destination.
So true. He scored 1 out 10 goals with his own skill. The rest were spoon fed on the pp. Put any other goal scorer in his position on the pp and they will also shine. Look at Ehlers now.
@@markzoned Yet very few players can match his goals/60mins average during the past few seasons. I think he's number 3 on that list or something. Strange, very strange. How can that be since "any other goal scorer" could have scored all those goals? Are there only 3 goal scorers in the whole NHL, the best league in the world?
