Hello Mark and thank you for generously presenting phenomenal info about pen turning, finishing and assembly. The productions are well paced, informative and just long enough to review to assure I confidently understand the subject. Would you consider doing an episode that includes inlays? I'm new to the art form and know a lot of people who love floral and other designs. I would love to learn how to incorporate them into a writing instrument. I am retired with no intention of marketing, etc.I have build model ships as a hobby and have every imaginable tool. I just reconfigured my shop with a wood lathe and other pen turning and assembly devices, many of which are based upon your recommendations. I simply enjoy a learning processes that offer some artistic expression that others may enjoy.
Aloha, Mark. Thank you so much for making these videos. My daughter and I are learning so much from you! Could you please make a video of how to put together segmented wood blanks with a metal piece in between? Something that looks good with curly maple, maybe? Mahalo from Hawai’i. 🌺
I use my belt sander to square off my ends. I don’t have anything to make sure it’s exactly 90 degrees but I haven’t had any issues fitting my pens together.
Thank you for the great information. Where did you find your V block? I haven’t been able to find the set up like yours which appears to allow more lateral support against the miter gauge
