As a member of Long term orientation society, I try to remember the rich content of LTO implications in two lines of logic for my culture. One is that Future and change: To face the future means to face change and needs accommodation and adjustment. Two is that Morality vs truth. Morality such as humbleness, willing to learn, is more important than absolute truth, for truth is relative, which justify the way middle way between extreme solutions.
This is definitely the most difficult one to understand. Here in the UK it comes out as 51 which means that you can't make a determination one way or the other, which sort of explains why it's difficult for a British person like me to understand.
Thank you sir. I have few questions. 1. How a country can score 100? Ex. South Korea? 2. I found similarity with the characteristics of LTO in developed countries like the USA. But how USA become short term? 3. I found clear contradiction between femininity and Long term orientation. The characteristics are same but the examples create these contradictions.
I guess this is too much for me to answer briefly. This concept of dimensions is not necessarily easy to grasp. You should best take your time for reading the book 'Cultures and organizations'. That explain the scoring, and also how all the dimensions are about something different.
The USA probably always was Short Term. It's development is simply due to how easy it is to make money there (Since everyone can make it here also probably attracted Short Term Oriented people, whereas LTO people stayed home) As far as ressources are concerned, they have everything : arable lands, mineral ressource, petroleum, etc, etc. And they didn't have that much competition for the land, as the Native got killed by the plagues, meanwhile, the British were kickedout of the continent with the help of France and Spain, France then sold its HUGE claim of land to the US, and Spain basically lost control of its colonies...

Can somebody tell me what papers exactly refers to as UNESCO research at 6:30 about deviation between self rating and actual performance? I would be greatful for the contribution.
China's most abundantly-used term (vis-a-vis the West) is 不客气(氣 (bù kèqi!)-- "Don't mention it." An alternative version 没关系 (méi guān xi)-- "It doesn't matter" is almost as prevalent. (i.e. don't say "thanks" all the time is the land of LTO!).
