Hi everyone!
In today's video, I'll be going over 10 mistakes that beginner players make in SnowRunner. The purpose of this video is not to make fun of beginner players, but more to teach beginners on what to avoid doing. Let me know in the comments what mistakes you made as a beginner.
Thank you!

One of the biggest mistakes for me is trying to finish the game. Like a race. I like to stretch my route and enjoy every moment in the game. And that's why even as a professional I break some of the rules. It's about trying, experimenting. However, I do heavy jobs with proven machines.

For #8, it's important to remember that for some trucks, the gear ratio restriction that occurs with high-range gear actually limits the uphill speed. I would say that when climbing a steep hill, if the wheels are slipping, shift to a low-range gear; if the wheels aren't slipping but the engine's revs keep dropping, shift to high-range gear, and if the wheels aren't slipping and the engine's power is holding, keep it on auto.

good tips. the one about not putting a saddle on the truck before the store is something I didn't know and been playing this game for years. I always just looked at a mission and figured what trailer I needed before hand and would equip to tow it. this will save some time and let me pick a truck and just go out and then decide what I want to do. Good trick to know.
@schuttrostig5729
@schuttrostig5729 Год назад
the problem is if you want to pick up a trailer that is parked somewhere you dont get a saddle, so not getting one is only true when you buy a saddle trailer.
@jamesbennett5189
@jamesbennett5189 Год назад
When i leave the garage i try and buy the trailer needed before and it will tell you which saddle you need or when you hit the mission in the options it will also say whats needed.

#1 not exactly. It connects the winch according the camera position. It positions to nearest winch point. #2 depends on map. In some maps you cannot go anywhere if you have the wrong set of tires. #8 varies from truck to truck. Tatra Force, per example, can climb hills easily on auto with 5th gear. Of course empty (or with no cargo). The other tips: good ones. #7 is a must.

The front bumper tip is very useful, I do this a lot as well, but with certain trucks that have exceptionally high ground clearance I'll choose the front bumper I like the most so long as it doesn't hang TOO low. If it cant get over a concrete barrier, that's when I'll choose the highest front bumper

The winching one is incorrect. It winches on to wherever you're pointing. An auto winching is useful in almost every case except whenever you need to winch to a specific spot.
@tvctaswegia497
@tvctaswegia497 6 месяцев назад
Also you can absolutely auto winch a small tree or even a bush successfully. Pro tip: rapidly tap winch do _not_ hold while full throttle and also flicking between Lo+/Hi gear a few times a second using numeric keypad gear select. Also roll steering full back and forth like Mudrunner. Not hard on pc, not sure if doable on console. The rapid gear changes have a small chance to break mud rut and the winch stops any rollback while giving a small boost. If you tweak the winch but don't yank, the anchor won't break. I've pulled out bogged transtars like this with no assistance or hard anchors.

Low or no bumpers are controversial-in reality there is axle too, but in SR it seems like some trucks are missing collision models for axles like F-750 showed in video

Thnx for the video, I am a beginner, but knew some of these tips and tricks before - although not all of them, especially the one with the saddle and trailer store. And I have to reconsider my choice of suspension for ANK (adjustable) - I like it to have it high all the time tbh, so maybe it's not the best choice to have adjustable, which is very expensive too

Some you got right. However, choosing a US truck inhibits off road traction as 99% of supposedly off road trucks, US, have highway suspension designed for load bearing & highway speeds, not off road wheel articulation Using auto going uphill isn't a problem, just tap the clutch & it will drop one gear, sometimes two, at a time I use selectable AWD approximately 5%, selectable diff lock (trucks also having selectable AWD) about 30%, RWD 65%. I haven't used winch for self recover in over 3 months (three or four times a year maximum) Suspension type is more important to traction than any other aspect of a truck. Walking beam type is the best choice Installing a powerful, high bhp engine will increase wheelspin resulting in loss of traction All US trucks are tuned for highway use & a higher top speed, meaning the rpm range difference between max torque & max bhp is minimal, causing bhp to kick in when max torque is essential resulting in wheelspin & loss of traction I don't get trucks trucks stuck, i use the winch as a tow rope for delivering trucks, towed trucks always engine off behind a semi trailer, I don't use scouts,they're poxy, annoying & useless, i use an 8X8 or 10X10 with a 6 slot sideboard semi, invariably overloaded for scouting, my trucks have the basic mud tires they come with, i take every shortcut possible I spent many years IRL driving ex Soviet trucks in nasty off road conditions, 200 acres of mud, deep ruts, deep water, woods etc for fun as a job perk on farm estates where the owner collected them. Maz, Zil, Ural, Uaz, Luaz, Kraz, Vityaz, Gaz plus an ex RAF Leibherr 12X12 mobile crane everything from a little Luaz upto a Zil 135's (P & ML), Maz 543's 535 & 537's, many off the techniques i was taught work in SR

the one with choosing your saddle makes sense unless your like me ingame. if its not a mission trailer i go with high saddle everytime i have a fav trailer i use for most transport tasks. find your trailer that works best for your rigs and driving style. good balance between capacity stability and ride height makes a huge difference

A pro can drive, so the stability is not a concern. I wouldn't lie I never rolled the Mk38, but I do it very rarely. Yes, in some places it is psysically impossible for it not to tip over, but you usually can either fly over them at high speed while steering downhill or assist yourself with winch. And those places are rare and always have some play around.

There's a point of view that a momentum in SR doesn't help really... Maybe even SR punishes for trying to make use of it...
@tvctaswegia497
@tvctaswegia497 6 месяцев назад
Depends. If it's deep soft mud and you send it probs just dig a huge hole burying the nose. On snow and ice crusted mud rolling fast in hi or lo+ can get you over it before it breaks keeping fuel efficiency and speed high - load and equipment allowing of course. Around light mud and uneven dirt/stones high speed can make you 'skim' over the terrain, again high speed and efficiency as long as you can control it. This also works for rushing obstacles, using momentum to crest over something you might have to crawl over instead. All the runner games reward high speed moves, where possible. Sometimes hi or lo+ diff lock is better than lo AWD.

One thing a hate the most is not having the ability to recover the trailer with the vehicle, laterally have to drive it all the way back to the trailer store to sell it is a huge waist of time.unless theres a way around it.

You don't necessarily need to sell the unused parts unless you need to buy a truck or another part and you don't have the money like in game currency... You will always have the money as you can't get rid of the unused parts... The only difference is that they are not transformed into money, so in the end its like you have the money anyways
@thegamingrat1
@thegamingrat1 8 месяцев назад
Yeah that's true. But if you buy a truck, sell it, and don't plan on purchasing it again your unused parts don't get calculating into your truck's sell worth. Thank you for commenting!

I think I have some kind of ocd because I always try to 100% areas before moving on to the next. Key word is “try”. It’s been about 3 weeks and I’m still in the second area of Michigan. There is just so much to do. I don’t think I’ll be able to stand staying in the same environment for much longer. I mean I can still move on to stage 3 and 4 though. I know some of the contracts I’m at require it anyways.

1. First off, almost every player, newbie or experienced, use the automatic winch. Second off, you're gonna call a level 75 player a "Beginner" just because their front winch just about reaches a point? Third off, when I tried that, it does help, but it can twist vehicles and the side winches can hold you back. Forth off, I'd rather let the game choose what I'm hooking onto rather than get stuck because I'm spamming a button so i can winch to where I want. Fifth off, "this only connects to the *front* of the truck". So you're telling me you've never looked to the side of your truck and press the "connect winch" button and saw that it clearly attaches to something next to the truck? 3. Let me style my truck how I want. As @wilkatis rightfully said "Some good lucks are worth getting stuck somewhere." 4. "The beginner player will *ALWAYS* leave AWD on. Always? ALWAYS!? You think every newbie just forgets awd consumes more fuel? 5. I'm not wasting my fuel to ride 10 miles to a loading place if the Garage is much more closer. Besides, I've got frame addons to switch! 6. Ok now you're just thinking they're all stupid. 9. Some trucks such as the Tayga 6436 can't have their fenders removed for whatever reason. 10. What if I need that part later but I'm too low on money with no other vehicles to sell? Final review: This video is very helpful, but some reasons, such as mistake 4 and 6, make newbies seem dumber than they actually are and some others such as mistake 3 give off a bad view to how people want to play the game their way.

The #7 tip don't work if you have certain mods installed. I have a mod that is a low saddle and crane combo, but it doesn't work on all trucks due to clipping. The game always goes for it if the semi trailer needs low saddle. The mod is made by : Pogrim

right off the bat it is wrong, #1 the auto wench is used for quickly gaining extra traction so you do not get stuck, stopping in the middle of the mud to attach your wench will slow you down and possibly get you stuck

Number 1 - totally totally wrong. Point abd shoot with the winch works in every direction off of multiple points. You can look in the direction you want the auto winch to attach to and it will attach a winch to whichever winch point on the part of the vehicle near to where you are looking. I use it looking sideways a lot.
@thegamingrat1

Yeah, I did notice that but it is much less accurate than using the selective winch, especially if you want to winch from the back.

Talks about beginner mistakes. Keeps bashing the truck into easily avoidable obstacles like buildings and parked cars. I'm just making fun :D Though I do have to disagree with one point: I never sell unused parts. For one, the collector in me is in pain when I could have things and I don't. For another, if I later wish to equip a part I sold before because I wish to customize the truck in this direction, I have to purchase it again. And 20k extra if I already have 800k anyway is not that big of a difference, anyway.
@nikelsad
@nikelsad 10 месяцев назад
"Keeps bashing the truck" The author just got into character too much ;) About the unused parts -- there are parts that you objectively would never want install again :) Also i see no problem with purchasing a part in this game. It's as simple as installing the owned one :) That 800k example in the video seems not quite relevant to a beginner :) But for a beginner this tip might actually help. For example when one needs another truck but lacks some money for it.
