10 Mistakes Quest 2 BEGINNERS Make! (2024) (UPDATED) 

For the last few months the slicone cover has been coming with the quest not with the old ones

Never pay the release price of new device releases, they are not worth the price.. always wait and buy cheap.. also never upgrade every time a new device is released as the upgrades are minimal.. always skip one and upgrade every second release.. if you just bought the quest 2 you are very smart 😉

I have been playing around with the quest for a few months now, my biggest tips would be using a floormat with a border so u can stay in place and using a minimal vest or straps with pockets for storing a microfiber cloth, extra batteries and connecting to an overhead powersupply with tethering to prevent damage to any electronics and you can use a hoodie to amplify the sound from the built-in speakers of the headset

Being visually impaired is a secret superpower sometimes, like how I basically never get eye strain because the filter is built in to my prescription, I can play for hours in vr and feel great when exiting it, also the filter in my glasses doesn't make things yellow, so I can see all the colors vibrantly, but without the eye strain.

I bought my meta quest 2 two days ago and it was nice. I didnt mind the headstrap at all and yeah nice tips especially the last one i found helpful in my opinion. Have a nice day.

A tip for anyone who wants even longer battery life, ive owned my quest 2 and battery strap for about 8 months now and ive been able to play and record an ENTIRE day just by buying a mobile cellphone battery bank and connecting that to my headstrap every so often, also try not to let your headset battery itsself ever get below 20% or things will start to get funky.

I bought mine for the equivalent of 480 USD in my country two days ago. I know it may seem like way too much, but trust me, where i live it was a good price. ( I still regret it tho because of the quest 3 coming soon but hey i can finally experience vr yay)

Im actually a vr headset pro and i do recommend a good head strap with a battery or just a good head strap the sits on your forehead and a cheap battery that slides on to the side of your quest 2, but the quest 3 should have good pass through and many other improvements but for me that passthrough if its as good as the quest pro or better will make it worth it for me, plus it the quest3 seems lighter idk if the battery will last but i assume even playing with the charger plugged in, it will be more than worth it if you really enjoy the quest2 already the quest 3 is a must

my hot take is that i LOVE the Quest 2 speakers. sure they don't have bass. but the fact that i don't have to have anything in or around my ears and no one else can hear it unless they listen closely? nah that is a straight win.

Hey so I'm relatively new to VR, I have a psvr on ps4 and enjoyed it but didn't really find the time to play it for more than a few hours.. I picked up a quest 2 for 200$ new on sale (December 2023) I'm still on the fence about opening it or just returning it and waiting for the Q3 to drop in price.. what would you recommend? Keep it or return it and wait a bit.. I enjoyed psvr but being tethered and the the setup made it not worth bothering most of the time, which is why I was interested in the quest..

Can the extended battery pack damage the headset? I purchased the quest 2 with the elite strap and extended battery. After 4 days of use I got sick and put the device back in the box for storage as I knew I wouldn’t be using it while sick. When I put it in the box it had 90% battery. I didn’t use it for 2 days and left the extended battery connected for those days. When I went to get on the device again it would not come on. I plugged it in to charge and no charging indicators showed. No lights no noises it was just bricked. On the app it showed the device at 94% and that it had last synced the day I put it back into the box for storage. I cant figure out what went wrong and if it was something I did or if I just got a faulty device. I ended up taking it back to the store having it exchanged for a new one. But I’ve only had this one for a few days now so will see if it continues to work or not.

In defense of not turning off the quest, adb commands dont save so turning the quest off can take a significant amount of extra time

Most of these things I've been doing since I got my first quest 2 over a year ago, so it's nice to know I've been moving in the right direction. Great video, other than the part where you talk about the size of my head.

I bought a quest 2 128gb off from amazon and it arrived much earlier than I expected. and yes I'm fully aware I need an elite strap now, cable? I don't think I'll need it, I have a long long type c cable and also I didn't buy quest pro nor waiting for quest 3, I know they'll be WAY more expensive than I think and also the box came with something what it seems to be a silicone cover so that's good I guess

I bought a brand new Quest 2 last week for $275 CAD ($200 USD) from Amazon (with a $75 gift card). With the gift card I bought the Kiwi design strap with the 6400mAh battery. WAY cheaper than a Quest 3 at $649 CAD, plus the need for a new strap (again). It's my first foray into VR...so let's see if it makes me puke and never touch it again! Why no mention of the games you should play first so as not to get sick? This is the most important thing new users should be aware of...no stupid roller-coaster game right off the bat.

I never turn off my Quest 2 but I’ve got a 10 hour battery pack that lasts for days if I don’t get online. If I plan to play I just plug her in a few hours before and I’m good for the day.

I just bought a quest 2 an it’s doing just fine and I’m happy cause I’m a 16 year old and I was able to save enough money to buy it for myself and the updates with new ones are minimal

The only time i leave it sleeping is to download blade and sorcery nomad as there are download issues with it

Literally only reason I bought Quest 2 was for wireless pcvr. I dance in vrc, so getting rid of that wire was a godsend. Still use my index for literally anything else.

About it being dated. 9 months later and I still believe the Quest 2 is great. Sure you won't be getting crazy good graphics, but there is many good games you can still play, and it's price is a lot cheaper than some other headsets.

Honestly, the silicone face plate becomes 10x more swetty after like 10min then the original. BUT! the original foam will get hair stuck on it that irritates the skin over time, so that one is kinda crap anyway... The quest should have added tiny fans on the sides to cool the face. but i guess Mark only thinks about saving money, and not the user experience of the products.

99% of the time i use my quest only for Beat Saber, and ofcourse meaning my link cable is always plugged in so every time i use my pc which is on hours at a time my quest charges meaning my quest is always at 100% but im wondering it can damage the battery

Luckily my quest 2 still has the oculus logo, so this don't apply to me, at least the dated part. I got it when there were no better options for cordless vr

I do do that, but the question is an awful like I use it it’s not that bad. I had my question for two months and I use the regular head strap. It’s not that bad.

Don't buy the Pro. It has smaller lenses and so lower FOV and binocular overlap than Pico 4. Eye-tracking isn't coming to Quest 3 and so won't be supported on the underpowered and over priced Pro. Quest 2 is still worth it for a cheap standalone/PCVR headset if you don't want to switch to Pico.
