I never understood why so many people seem to hate when fighters use wrestling. For me thats the main appeal of mma. If i want to see only stand up i watch boxing, kickboxing or muay thai.
@@gandalfthegrey8166 This! I personally enjoy wrestling more than boxing, kickboxing or muay thai. MMA is the only one that's more enjoyable than wrestling.
@@homam9956 I get frustrated when I see a whole match of a dude just flattened prone on the ground, but I'm more inclined to blame the guy being taken down. Mismatches suck, and when people go out to fight a wrestler despite clearly being unable to wrestle, I wonder what they thought would happen.
Tony is 36 so no matter what the fight would never have been the same considering Tony is older and Khabib is in his prime, I reckon the Gaethje loss is the final nail in the coffin for that fight. It might happen but in my opinion it will never be what it could have been in 2015 or 16.
He's too thick to realize that it means nothing on his career. He only beat Liddell who was nearing 50 in a fight that should have never happened. Besides, Liddell knocked him out twice before.
Yea I ways already weary of dc before that with the way he carries himself and obviously Towel gate.( dc jokes about getting away with that) but those eyepokes were beyond blatant and he still denies them. I honestly hope there is no trilogy and dc retires. Dont care for the man inside the ring.
Trying to knock your opponent out, makes sense, it's a fight. Trying to dominate your opponent throughout the fight, makes sense, it's a fight. Trying to make someone blind, that's worse than being a K-Pop fan
Sarah Till Not defending DC because eye pokes are against MMA rules but in a real fight (real self defense) eye pokes work... And so do groin shots they just are banned in MMA... Bruce Lee loved them
Also with Cormier I think a huge part of him losing the "paper champ' persona. Was him moving up to heavyweight and winning the heavyweight tittle. Even if you don't think his champion status at 205 was legitimate. It is kind of hard to argue that point when he won the heavyweight tittle by KO. I think that was the biggest factor that turned fans around on him.
@@verscarii3238 But you fans always won't acknowledge that besides that DC whooped Stipe before the stoppage😂.. Biased fans don't want to admit DC is the better overall fighter.
@@traplivesmatter1462 easy to whoop someone's ass when they cant't fucking see. Wonder why Stipe needed eye surgery? Oh yea, DC poked his eyes in both fights with video evidence to prove it.
@@Bl4stinoff2outerspace That Brents fight was ten years ago in a different organization, if you can't see how that's different then there's no hope for you.
Yeah I remember that. Talking about "Oh, he gonna have to earn his way back" after the man just stood tall and defeated Francis Ngannou. Stipe not being worthy of an immediate rematch is a VERY tough sell even for the most skilled of shit talkers which Cormier is not one of. Cormier came across as such a blunt tool, and eye poking and then ducking a fighter/working man like Stipe so he could go run off and practice take-downs on Derrick Lewis was quite the unsavory sight. Cormier's no Jon Jones but I agree, he's definitely had his moments.
@@hoagielamp6543 the only difference is Stipe did it to someone you guys don't care about. Who cares that he did it in another organization or he did it ten years ago
@@eliastoufexis3187 exactly, he's a shrewd businessman but that's okay because he went long enough grinding hard in this sport without getting properly compensated
@Chris Pacheco She is as one dimensional as Maia. One of the best grapplers still to thi day ? Sure. But the moment she faced good strikers, she got demolished. Imagine if she faced Shevchenko.
Absolutely. Silva and Woodley were prolific finishers, and yet they both had a boring fight against Maia and it's THEIR fault? Bulllllllshit, Maia is the boring fighter.
@@Uxoriouswidow Wasn't the only time Silva was goofing around too much inside the octagon though. I get it, he's one of the most talented fighters ever. But I prefer watching fighters being serious and fighting with heart and true grit instead of a clown trying to get a laugh out of the audience. And yes, Silva also had awesome fights but it's getting annoying when you want to cheer for a great fighter who sometimes decides not to fight seriously. Like wtf man... I agree that Maia isn't a very exciting fighter to watch but that's no excuse for Woodley also fighting in a really boring manner in that fight. Woodley didn't risk it and played it safe. Sure, he's allowed to do that but that doesn't change the fact that *both* fighters didn't meet the fans' expectations.
Silva never struggled by fighting to the level of his opposition. He was a pure counter striker and consistently struggled when guys wouldn't oblige that.
Long story short Conor has always hinted at 3 things. A Welterweight Title Run - Nate Diaz Trilogy and Mayweather Rematch. But as of right now Gaethje is being stubborn (to his own right) and not fighting Conor for a title eliminator. He’s tired of waiting for people to play it safely as he was one to always risks. In a conversation with Ariel Helwani he express that the game is full of people who are not ready to take risks. Basically he’s ready and wants to get going (for his season) but no one is biting. Gaethje has insulted Conor as a bad father figure to his children. Conor would never let that slide just like he wouldn’t let the millions of dollars slide away from him with the other potential match ups. He will be back it’s just a facade to get his name in the media, not a doubt in my mind he’ll be back.
He’s a narcissist that cant stand someone else having the spotlight. So he tweets some nonsense every weekend to keep the attention on him, and people continue to take the bait. Every time
@Schmuck Schmuck The same Jon Jones who posted a condescending video on Twitter pretending to be a whiny fan bitching about eyepokes? He's a terrible human being, his rivalry with DC has led to a lot of whataboutism but at the end of the day just take a long fucking look at the man.
Ocasio-Cortez4prez2022 I think him and Dana are waiting till fans can watch live again. It’s fake retirement so he won’t be pushed into a fight that won’t profit as much.
@Ocasio-Cortez4prez2022 it's an announcement to mock the fighter imo, just part of the trash talk. It may be a stunt him and Dana are pulling to cash even more when there is gonna be public at the arenas.
Ocasio-Cortez4prez2022 For sure. Just like last year when he was on Twitter after every event calling out the winners. He can’t stand it when he’s not the center of attention and since there’s so many that aren’t fans of mma, but fans of Conor, it gets everyone talking about it for views and likes.
@Tyrone Notwatson I still like DC. I dont think his fight with Silva was wrong at all, he just decided to utilise his best traits as a fighter, which is ground game. However, the eye pokes in the Stipe fight was ridiculous and a lot of people disliked him THEN because of it. Its got nothing to do with 'jumping on the bandwagon'
Rousey was almost always a horrible person, fans ignored it due to her accomplishments. When someone took that away from her, it's like the veil was lifted.
I never liked her and I never like Joanna either...Joanna was also very arrogant and disrespectful...in my opinion in MMA respect is everything , my favorite female fighters are Rose and Valentina who can handle themselves with grace but I still respect Ronda and Joanna cause they are or( in some cases WERE) very amazing and successful female fighters
It was better off for even people who saw through her bullshit to turn a blind eye to it because she was doing a lot of good for the sport in spite of herself. One of those people who are fine so long as they are winning and not being bothered lol.
@@HK-gm8pe Most fighters put on this fake disrespectful act cuz trash talk sells . People like Colby , Usman etc would way more likeable if they were authentic .
@@user-jp3hc4ux4e yes I know that some fighters do that...best example is Conor McGregor but I just dont like this stuff, I practice muay thai myself (because of my trauma, I needed tolet my emotions out) but forme MMA fighting shouldbe allabout respect ,you make yourself a fool if you trash talk and then you get knocked out in first round
Yes because a poll of internet people is always going to be accurate. No one knows if it was on purpose other than him. That’s why intent is no where in the rules. Even if intent is believed the refs still hand out 100 verbal warnings before doing anything about rule breaking
Tejas Bhat DC had a conversation with Jones about using eye pokes in a fight and Jones went as far to suggest using this as a means of beating Stipe or anyone else for that matter. Obviously, DC fought Jones and the eye pokes were (in my opinion) a deciding factor in the DC vs Jones fights! Maybe not all 3 but yea, other factors were in play as well.
Not a fan of him. Watched him on TUF against shamrock. Then liked him. Then watched his fights then didn’t like him. It’s kind of a roller coaster with a lot of the fighters
I remember being blown away by a young Jones, really feeling for him on that elbow-DQ, then cheering the promising and humble hungry fighter on his meteoric rise. We wanted him to have redemption. He wanted to do coke and drive fast. Damn shame.
..... not to mention eye gouge everyone he fought (yet no one seems to care), and take steroids. He was a cheater and should never be considered a good MMA fighter.
@@user-jp3hc4ux4e except a great fighter would not resort to gouging other fighters' eyes out, and would not take PEDs. If he was truly great then he would have won without doing that. He was nothing more than a cheater.
Don't forget the time Tito Ortiz challenged Dana White to a fight, Dana trained and got approved by the commission, was ready to go and last minute Tito Ortiz said he didn't want to fight and backed out.
I think you missed the DC stuoe saga I feel like a lot of fans in gen don't like him after that the eye pokes for one and later him telling stipe during the middle of the pandemic that he needs to fight and just his seemingly general lack of respect for stipe I mean that kind of flipped me off the DC train I mean eye pokes not cool stipe had to get eye surgery cuz of them he could have gone blind
And going back on his word to give Stipe the rematch if Brock fell through because he wanted the easy defence against Lewis.. I was a big fan of D.C. but the 2 Stipe fights showed a Dillashaw- like side of him
It's true that lately, anytime Cormier is brought up you'll find a bunch of Miocic fans immediately making eye-pokes jokes. I thought that list was good, but the only thing that I apparently missed was the Cormier hate after the Anderson fight. From what I remember, aside from the hardcore Anderson fanbase, most MMA enthusiasts were sort of complimenting Cormier for not humiliating Silva by throwing him around and wrestlefuck him (Anderson's weakness). Just kind of carrying him for 3 rounds, not making him look bad. Did he really receive notable backlash for not finishing AS?
@@cappy2282 lol. I have no expérience whatsoever in grappling-style fighting yet I think wrestling are the most interesting fights to look at. Please keep talking for everyone
Jun. 7, 2020. Statement: DC has done nothing wrong. Man, you must be the thickest boy around when you blatantly ignore the fact that anyone with iQ greater then 50 can see what he has done to best heavyweight on the planet Stipe Miočić and his eyes. If anyone can call themself a fan of DC after display of bad sportmanship like that one, I congratulate them on having 0 selfworth.
Any time I'm down in the dumps and feeling hard on myself I just rewatch cejudo vs dillashaw and watch the walkouts with the introductions. God it makes me so happy to watch someone like that get what's coming to them. Surely a way to cheer any fan up.😂
I mean...I can tell you top three most likely lmao Dan Severn by and far #1 Ken Shamrock #2 Royce Gracie #3 2 and 3 are tossups, but Severn is definitely #1.
During his fight versus Maia is when my family and I turned against Silva. I remember it like it was yesterday. We felt so bad for Maia. It just seemed like Silva was being a bully, toying with Maia. It’s kinda sad too, because Silva seems like a nice guy now. But man we were joined in cheering against him after Maia for sure.
I hit like when you you said “who the fuck would ever use profanity? Not me!” Idk how u guys keep finding content to make without it getting stale, but u do. Best MMA channel on RU-vid
I can’t lie as a Ronda fan I was rooting for her during her wrestling turn, thinking even if she would never erase the stink of the end of her UFC career, maybe she could reach her potential there…but the second the fans got tired of her lack of progress as a character, she got mad and quit trying. Giving up as soon as WWE would let her. Such a waste of talent. To be so naturally gifted but unwilling to ever put in the effort to improve and instead opting to quit the second things aren’t going your way.
For real...the fact you used power rangers in space/lost galaxy crossover as your "90s kids unite" made me love you even more. I'm 30 and still watch power rangers. Those were my 2 favorite series. Far far away, deep in space, To a galaxy unknown...
Truth be told, a lot of the hate for the wrestling comes from the guys who were watching since the beginning. Styles ruled the UFC for the longest time from the BJJ era of the early UFCs to the wrestling dominated years afterwards, when guys like Liddell showed up and brought back striking and takedown defense, the culture changed and we began to see some of the most brutal bouts across UFC and Pride. We are now in a true Mixed Martial Arts era where if you only do one thing good, you will be punished for it eventually; but, a strong grappling base and years of striking dominated competition has developed skill sets for a large portion of fighters in the roster that allows them to utilize crisp striking to set up the ground game. Once on the ground, some matches get stale, others get more violent; but, it’s more of a case of nostalgia for things past than hate for things new. I can sympathize with feeling that way; but, a W is a W and MMA isn’t boxing/kickboxing/etc. Sometimes watching the dude you bet on get smothered is infuriating and painful to watch, it’s just all a part of the game baby.
I think Ronda should be number 1. The thing was, while Connor may be more popular, things are back & forth with him. With what she did, she completely turned the majority of MMA fans against her almost certainly forever.
I mean his career is a highlight reel, gusy taken every risk against way heavier fighters like khabib and nate, 5 championship wins in his career, its kinda hard not at least want to see him fight, guys so much fun
I was a Diaz homey when condit fought nick. I complained that condit chickened from the exchanges. Some time later, I found I only criticized condit for not deploying a plan that would have seen him defeated, thus appeasing my Diaz fandom wants. But, also I realised that Diaz would disappoint me later by his stubborn lack of strategic flexibility and his accusations of his appointments being cheap by not playing into Diaz's game plan. Diaz has been figured out a long time ago. I love his style but it has been countered. Countered by boring styles sure, but countered with a path to victory leaving him in defeat. He complained because he opponents didn't beat him at his game but he didn't realise he couldn't beat them at theirs!!! I prefer the Diaz style, it's pleasing to watch. Buy, wrestling exists. I hate it but it wins! I hate it truly. But, it wins! I can't despute that! So, why does Diaz? I'm Irish also. McGregor complains about Kabibs ducking stand up. I don't like wrestling but I'm smart enough to know it's a reality of MMA. It's a staple of MMA infact! So, how can any MMA artist dare complain about it! It's part of the sport! Always an option! Always a path to victory!!!
I think Rhonda basically was advised by management to take on a more heelish role leading up to her first loss. After that she moved on to the WWE which started her with a babyface role but over time they decided to try her as a heel but then management soured on her after the promos got her in hot water. Then she came back to UFC but they still wanted that heel side to her and since then she has had to work a sort of persona to make management happy. That is why Dana has not soured too much on her as he probably knows that it isn't her call to make those promos. Management works these angles in order to attract fan attention. The fighters may not even know or hate each other but management needs something to sell the fight so having a few promos that tell a story tends to help sell the fight.
@Stannis Baratheon Seriously? Hmm, let's see. Well there is the fact that the original root of the word comes from a Greek word that means "high in the air". Merriam-Webster says this in definition 1b of the term "meteoric": "resembling a meteor in speed or in sudden and temporary brilliance."
