Probably some Bosnian athletes have won medals while representing Yugoslavia, but I'm not well versed in Balkan sports history enough to mention one lol
There were definitely more than a few! Wikipedia actually has a whole section on it en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bosnia_and_Herzegovina_at_the_Olympics#Pre-1992_Yugoslavian_medalists_from_Bosnia-Herzegovina
For part 3: - Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) - Republic of the Congo - Honduras (placed 4th in the 2016 men's soccer tournament) - Saint Kitts & Nevis (SKN's sprinter Kim Collins was the 2003 100m World champion) - Angola
Antigua and Barbuda has won the silver medal in the 400 hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics, but wasn’t competing for that country so it counts as one of the countries that hasn’t won an Olympic medal.
I guess now you don't need to add St. Lucia onto any future lists of countries that have never won a medal, as Julien Alfred recently gave the island nation its first ever medal... a gold one to be exact! Congrats to Julien Alfred for securing gold in the Women's 100m sprint!
Simone Biles' mom is from Belize, so while they don't have any medals under their own flag, they've got amazing representation heritage-wise. And yes, I know she's adopted but she still counts. Legally her adoptive parents are her parents, thus she is eligible for Belizean citizenship through her mom.
You should collaborate with other sports RU-vid channels like; "The Fat Asian", "NFL Throw Back", "Baseball Doesn't Exist", "Ninh Ly", "Cricket Culture", "Search Party", and "Connor Does Rugby". Not only are they experts in the sports they cover but they have a lot of charisma that could help grow your channel.
I appreciate the suggestion! It's been very busy and humbling through the Olympics but now that things are slowing down, I want to go back to the drawing board and give some serious thought to my niche, style of videos, topics covered, etc. This is my first ever YT channel and I'm learning as I go, and boy is there a lot to learn lol
@@voxathletica Oh the IOC Board is as silver-spooned as it comes. And let's not even get started about the shenanigans and hijinks involving Olympic bids and, shall we say, certain considerations (i.e. bribes) to get their cities selected in the early aughts.
@@voxathletica I’m from the UK but despite playing rugby my whole life I’m not exactly Olympus calibre so no matter who I represent they’re gonna continue not to win 😂
Minor error. When you were discussing the British Virgin Islands, you said "island" a few times. There is about 50 islands, 16 that are inhabited. Great video otherwise.
When you are asking about athletes from hot countries that participate in winter olympics, they practice in cod countries, especially in Europe and North America
It's definitely true in some cases, just sad that they stay and represent those cold countries. But that doesn't hold for all cases though, as lots of hot countries have their athletes win medals for them. It seems to be more about the infrastructure (time, money, tech, etc) needed to support athletes of a world-class caliber
With Albania is like Somalia, two well known men weightlifters were born in Albania but went to other countries Pyrros Dimas for Greece (he even competed once for Albania in 1990 in that sport) and Naim Suleymanoglu for Turkey. Similar to Nepal, México also won a medal in Atlanta 1996 in Tae Kwon Do a gold but didn't count because was exhibition sport what a shame with COI 😮
DR Congo definitely deserves a shout. They have actually produced some good players in basketball and football (Romelu Lukaku is of Congolese descent, for instance), and for a country with a population of 105M, it's kinda baffling that they haven't found any success in the Olympics yet. Also the Nicaragua story kinda reminds me of Honduras. They've never won an Olympic medal but did come very close when they finished 4th place in the men's football tournament at the 2016 Olympics, losing 3-2 to Nigeria in the bronze medal game.
DR Congo is a huge example, I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) they are second behind Bangladesh for the largest country by population to never win a medal. And as you say, a ton of great athletes hail from there.
That is not true at all I am from Egypt and we have been participating since London 1912 with total of 41medals !!! 9 of them are gold !! another gold we won in tae in 1988 for Amr Khairy but it was not in the official list That makes them 10 gold medals !! I don't know what you mean by ' Islamic ' ...but that is not added to the any country 'name except Iran which won MANY medals Gold ,Silver and Bronze ...
