8:10 to add to this, if you fail the mission a second time, your buddy will say something like "let's just listen to the radio" and won't talk after that.
Old music on Vladivostok FM wasn't just a random pick of catchy song, most (or all of them, don't quite remember now) are featured in Russian movies "Brother" and "Brother 2", which Rockstar took some inspiration from. So, they being replaced is a big deal, new songs R* put in a game is meh at best.
I belive the games between III and IV were given titles because they were prequels and didn't release with the same date as the game's story. For example, GTA III was released in 2001 and took place then; GTA IV in 2008; GTA V in 2013 and so on.
I'm fascinated by youtubers like Badger, Neon knight and Wirtual who are obsessed with a specific game franchise to the point of knowing damn near everything about it and simultaneously making a successful career out of taking about it.
NathanNS is pretty good if you enjoy bully content. He's pretty much exactly like badger where 90% of the videos are about a topic but there are a few others here or there
11:15 I think the main reason why MGS4 is still a PS3 exclusive is probably because of the iPod feature, a PS3 and PSP console easter egg in the briefing scenes when controlling the MKII, even Otacon mentions that they're on a PS3 where the game is running on a Blu-ray disc when returning to Shadow Moses, that's my guess
You can turn alternative dialogues with the mod FusionFix too, so it always starts with the alternative dialogue. It's nice if you've played the game a lot and already know the dialogues.
Given how GTA VC started out as an expansion pack for GTA 3, it isn't surprising that the map was rushed to meet deadlines. Also, Rockstar purposely left Niko's nationality ambiguous and just described him and Roman as coming from a broken-down area in Eastern Europe. They do speak Serbian but R* did not confirm that Niko was from the former Yugoslavia for some reason. Vladimir Mashkov claimed in an interview on Russian TV that he was approached to audition for a role on a then-undisclosed project but turned it down. I imagine if R* did cast him it wouldn't have aged well given Mashkov's support for the Ukraine conflict and how his daughter basically disowned him for that statement.
bless you badger for always teaching me something new about older gta games. when it seems like i could know all the things, you upload something new. nobody does it like you!
The 2nd fact makes me really sad. We all know how much of a monumental task creating each game is, including GTA 6. But I bet once it's out, there will be loads of people complaining that the model of like a cigarette butt on the sidewalk only has 400 polygons and 2048 textures, and will send the developers death letters over it.
@@heckermix9250 I know what the guy meant, there was a person who said it isn't true for GTA 2 but that isn't a roman numeral - he must have deleted his comment out of embarrassment I guess
I think it would be more accurate to say that every GTA game with a number in the title (so far) has always been set in the present day: the "present day" being whatever year the game was released in. Like, GTA IV was originally supposed to come out in 2007 and the development of the game took place from 2005 to 2008 (if we count the delays) so it would be more accurate to say that GTA IV is set in a fictional version of mid 2000s New York instead of saying that GTA IV is meant to look and feel EXACTLY like how New York was like in 2008 specifically.
10:30 crazy how they wanted to make it a PS3 exclusive at one point even though it runs at 15-20fps on a PS3.
I always thought it was the 4th one officially, because 3 to San Andreas were all built on the same engine, based on RenderWare*. 4 of course being built on Rocker's RAGE engine.
if GTA IV was a PS3 exclusive, it would have significantly impacted the sales of the Xbox 360, even if the Xbox was a slightly better console, the impact of GTA IV was massive in 2008, and it's the kind of game that makes you want to buy a new console.
I’m still hoping you’ll do a video about the south Bohan highway construction site, and the bridge that would connect to Algonquin. I always wondered where in Algonquin that bridge would be connected.
the most fun thing to do back in these days was go into deathmatch and end up in that match where someone puts it on RPGs only. everyone just ends up flying in the air spinning on fire.
I just learned they've made a new Vladivostok FM. And I think it's actually better than the goofy old one. It sounds more like a real radio station now.
Thank god GTA IV wasn't ever a console exclusive, EFLC aside for the first year or so. With the latest mods in PC it's becoming a much better experience than in consoles even. The nefarious memories of the PC version at launch should be put to rest, finally. You can even have the secondary dialoges of the missions play as main dialogue, on your first attempt of the missions.
Don't know how you do it, finding always new interesting information to talk about in these games. I really like it, you always take your time and it always pays up. Keep it up, lad! P.S.: Would've liked to have Staten Island in the game anyway.
I always figured named GTA games were set in a specific time, while numbered GTA games were set at current day(whatever year the game came out). That theory holds up, and unless GTA VI gets renamed, it will continue to hold up.
Nice touch with the flickering of the chapter titles. About game development being difficult, sure it is, but the product isn´t as good as GTA IV most of the times, so please leave it up to me on who to appreciate.
GTA4 was awesome but i wish someday will get a remaster that will change some things: 1. Toll booths are annoying as f. You have to travel a lot from Dukes to Bohan and all the time you have to wait in the line to pay. Delete roablocks and add E-ZPass analogue. Yeah Ez pass was not a thing in 2008 but this game is fictional. In NY in 2008 there were no E-ZPass but in LC in 2008 maybe there was. 2. Enemies often spend a lot of time inside their cover and you have to wait half a minute for them to show up. Decrease the time emeies can spend inside the cover 3. Graphics is stylized to be so bleak and it is too much. 4. Interiors could be more detailed. Closet is just a box in GTA4. Where is clothes? In TBOGT there are at least boxes of sneakers on the floor but i dont remember any clothes in og GTA4 while Roman isnt organized and should be throwing his socks and pants everywhere. In GTAV interies are ultrarealistic compared to GTA4.
10:23 that explains why GTA IV is badly ported for PC...😕 They haven't planned a PC port so they made half baked unoptimised PC game in a rush.
