I don't understand the logic of the directors being like "let's have Daniel Radcliffe, who is the titular character and will be seen most of the time, wear contacts for this whole "mother's eyes" thing to work" instead of like... using contact lenses in the eyes of the mother who had significantly less screen-time over the franchise, or just casting someone with a similar eye colour to Daniel xD
This confused me as well. His parents are in the movie for what... Max 20 minutes across all movies? 😅 Seems like an easy enough fix. Even for a post job if need be.
It’s because the novels talk about him having green eyes so it wasn’t about having Daniel’s eyes match the actress playing his mom but rather of having Daniel’s eyes match how Harry’s are described in the book

'The girl" you are referring to is J.K. Rowling herself. When she was asked if Harry had to have green eyes she said no. She didn't think that detail was important to the story at all.@@vanessaluz000

Looking at it, as somebody who works a lot with green screen, I'm pretty sure it IS grass passing by the window. I feel like a regular green screen would be more uniform.
Does anyone ever notice in the original "Jaws", when the shark enters the kid's area, that the lifeguard in the boat is barefoot when he is attacked but when the severed leg sinks it is wearing a tennis shoe? Spielberg was famous for early continuity errors.
I think the guy getting hit by nobody during the rooftop fight scene in Dark Knight Rises is a much better goof than a newspaper typo, you see those in movies all the time.
Near the beginning of Citizen Kane, one of the reporters says Kane's last word was "Rosebud," and the through-line of the rest of the movie was finding out what he meant. But in the scene where Kane actually says "Rosebud," no one else is in the room.
Just because no one was shown, it doesn't mean no one was there. He had servants that could have been there. This is just people looking for a nit to pick.
At the end of "The Hunt for Red October" the camera crew on the deck of the evacuating sub is HUGE. They aren't off to the side, or glimpsed through crowd, or off in the distance. There's several crew members and tons of equipment *right there* in front!
That Jurassic Park mistake is really something else! I can’t believe they didn’t catch that. And I can’t believe I never noticed that either! Also, I saw the Godfather for the first time just a few months ago - and yeah, that missed punch in the fight scene REALLY stood out. I can’t believe they didn’t catch that in editing.
I have mentioned these two mistakes before: - Also in The Dark Knight Rises, when Batman and Catwoman are escaping from Bane and his goons for the first time and engage into fighting a few of them, one of the goons falls to the ground without having been hit. - In Wonder Woman, at the end of No Man's Land scene, a bunch of people approach WW to thank her. Some guy extends his hand to her but she doesn't greet him back.
The question of the misspelt headline is was it a movie mistake, or an error made by the newspaper within the movie. My mother used to work in local journalism, and was forever pointing out the spelling mistakes in the paper she worked for. The the film might have been simply reflecting reality
Came to say this as well. You can find some pretty funny headlines online due to misspellings or just bad word usage. So that particular example could go either way.
they make more mistakes then even just typos, i saw one newspaper claim on the front page, "$4,000,000 is enough money to give all 4,000,000 people one million $ each" i had to read it three times, and still stood there in disbelief, like how did that get thought up, typed out, printed and delivered??? so yeah i'd very much agree a misspelled headline is not so much a movie mistake as very possibly a newspaper typo, might have been planned, and even if it's a genuine mistake it's a very minor one.
@@briwanderz Ever heard of the British newspaper The Daily Mail? All they do is tell outrageous lies. They once said (about 10 years ago) that people on benefits were receiving 70 grand a week, each. The Sultan of Brunei doesn't make that much a week. The most anyone on benefits get is around £200 a week and that's if they're terminally ill.
There is an even bigger error in Jurassic Park that I have never seen anyone comment on, and that is when everyone sees the dinosaurs for the first time. They all stand in astonishment when they first see a massively huge Brontosaurus when they are almost parked underneath it. Any other person would have seen them kilometers away. Perhaps they all needed to go to Specsavers.
There's nothing to say that Harry can't have his mother's eyes despite the color. Both my mother and stepfather had brown eyes but my brother still has his eyes and not hers, same shape, lashes, etc... We know the book emphasized it was about color but I wouldn't count it as a mistake in the movies.
The "Jewel Hiest" mistake reminds me of golden age Batman comic book that showed a newspaper headline very prominently displaying the word "Yatch" instead of "yacht".
I never even noticed the eye color difference. As domeone with brown eys, I honestly can barely tell the differnece between blue and green unless a peraon has strikingly blue eyes and Harry doesn't. The scenes with his mother are so dark I really couldn't tell what color her eyes are.
And the cardboard cutouts of people when a building explodes. And the springboards under the stunt men when they go flying from a grenade. And all the guns on the wall of the store reappearing after he takes them.
I thought you were going to point out the Raptors head popping up through the ceiling in Jurassic Park. Because when they kick the raptor and it falls you see there was nothing to keep the raptor up there as it falls like 12 feet
Here's a geographical error that I couldn't miss because I worked in the area for a long time: In Birdman, Michael Keaton and Edward Norton walk out of the St. James Theatre on West 44th Street. The camera swings around behind them and they're walking towards the Hotel Edison on West 47th Street. And, when they leave the bar at the Edison and walk back to the theatre, it's a much shorter walk.
I think in Hot Fuzz the green screen bits they forgot to edit in were likely a result of the floor being covered in so much grass just after it was easy to confuse it for the grass and so they didn't change it, perhaps thinking they already did it?
The better these movies are, the faults aren't picked up. If a story has you enraptured, you may see the mistake but won't dwell on it for more than a second. I've seen most of these many times as they are great films. Didn't notice any of them.
1997's Titanic has a pretty bad one too considering how well done the movie is overall, in the scene where Jack is held under arrest in the small room, the shot outside the ship goes underwater about 10 feet to reveal the window Jack is looking out of, then immediatley cuts inside the room to show Jack calling for help, the window has a water line a few inches from the top indicating the window is now above the water. Still a great movie though.
I wouldn't be surprised if tarentino left the bullet holes there on purpose to either see how long it took before someone noticed them or to create controversy and discussion on their meaning (much like the light in the case) He's described himself as a puppeteer of the audience, pulling on their strings in past interviews. I think its 50/50 as to whether it was an oversight or a purposeful move.

At the close of the end of Thor: Ragbarok, Skurge is wielding two rifles which seems to have magic ammo. According to some comic enthusiasts the rifles actually may have been altered (in the comics) for slightly unrealistic performance in comparison to original.... But. Ejecting used cartridges thru a closed dust cover is just bad.😂 I guess unlimited cartridgeless ammo woulda been "okay" for a fantasy movie - but not a ridiculously large amount of brass outta the rifle's closed ejection port - especially when the ammo does not last that too far anyways...
Forrest Gump: Bubba doesn't have in the stuff to make his bottom lip stuck out while they are in the helicopter. I noticed it the first time we rented it and I can't unsee it when I watch it now.
Harry Potter's eyes were a problem right from the very first movie! We see Lily in the Mirror of Erised, and they're just as different as they were in DH II.
Another thing from jurassic park that bothers me. The lawyer jumps out the car leaving the door open, then subsequent shots inbetween has the door closed then its magically open again when tim goes to shut it
I'm surprised you didn't mention the sprinkler seen when the T-Rex eats the goat. It isn't an obvious mistake, but you can see the rain coming from an obvious source.
4:05 The news paper had a misprint, that happens in real life. Do you want a reprint? That would cost $50k. Do you want to pay for it? No? Ok, then run it as is.
OK, so there is a major one, and its terrible once you notice it in the original "Nightmare on Elm Street." In the scene where he falls out the window you can see the mattress jump up over the bushes. In the scene where he falls down the stairs the mattress actually jumps up in front of the camera. Shocked no one noticed those in edit or in the theater.
The one movie that when i saw in theaters i noticed it right off the bat, i don't even understand how the all world didn't, was the GENIUS Gladiator. After Maximus falls in the arena after the battle with Commodus, you can easily see Russel has a pillow under his head, "concealed" by the sand. It's easy to see, there is a bulge in the sand under his head.
During the song Pinball Wizard in the Ken Russell movie of Tommy, you can see the director and cameraman behind some scenery as Keith Moon starts kicking over his drum kit.
One of the biggest I've noticed was also in Jurassic Park. When the kids are trapped in the vehicle, the T-rex is shown walking out of its pen. After a couple of cuts, old T-rex is shown again walking out of the pen - he's already been out of it. Just a little simple bit of cutting would fix the scene.
Another in Jurassic Park is when the t-rex is sniffing the vehicle with the kids in it, and then roars, the kids don't react right away. They don't cover their ears until it cuts to closeups.
One mistake that stuck out so much even my mother caught it on VHS was Jeremy Irons leaving a dinner party in a tuxedo to go upstairs and check up on his wife in the movie Remains of the Day. The wife asks for a drink, and he walks off-camera to get the drink. When he returns, he wears a tweed suit, or vice versa. Either way, he did a full costume change in about half a minute. But my favourite is the helicopter filming the two galleons in the movie Cutthroat Island right after the storm clears. A close second is the Roman soldiers all wearing Nike shoes in the original Ben-Hur.

@@darenstroud6254 I’d actually say the “original” was the 1925 silent version. When I received the classic 1959 version as a special edition gift box a few years ago, it included the silent version, which was quite an epic movie in its own right. Watching that got me interested in silent movies- and I know have about 30 or so in my collection.
The Godfather has the best punch on film: Captain McCluskey punches Michael Corleone outside the hospital; and Sonny's air punch. Sigh. Oh, and then there's Aragorn's bow hitting the camera in The Fellowship of the Ring after he says "Into the wild".
For me the most glaring mistake in Jurassic Park is when the T-Rex walks thru the unelectrified fence, a few scenes later the T-Rex pushes the car thru the area he came from, but now it's a sheer drop, like it was a cliff.
I believe in Ace Ventura 2, Ace punctuates a sentence by sweeping the chess pieces off the board with a book and you can just barely hear the pieces hitting the floor.
1951's "A Christmas Carol". Toward the end,when Scrooge is looking in the mirror you can clearly see a crewmember peek out from behind a prop in the reflection, a couple of times too! And in the "Jagged Edge", as Glenn Close is talking to the jury, her suit changes from blue to brown in the same scene
My issue with these mistakes are that they are only noticed now because of the digital age and rendering these films in higher quality. Most of these were missed because of the lack of high definition. Also, the spider man one is because of Sony filming the movie. The MCU was not in charge, and Disney only was involved for the profit that they were going to pull from it. So its really a big surprise that was one of the very few issues and continuity errors.
When they say Harry's has his mother's eyes - do they actually refer to colour? Or just that part of her face . If the mother had green eyes then regardless of the colour of the father's eyes - the chances of Harry having blue eyes falls to around 16%. The highest ratio would be if both the mother and father had blue eyes in which case there is around a 35% chance that Harry's eyes would be blue. So Harry having blue yes while his mother does not is not a movie mistake but common among all people. Unless they said the mom had blue eyes.
This was pretty cool and i was waiting to see if the disappearing monkey tattoos from the Tin Man 2007 mini series ending scenes were here. its funny because just watched it last night again and noticed the tattoos
The green screen in number 10 is not only blink and you will miss it, the actual countryside they are driving through is also very green from foliage. So, it hardly even qualifies as a mistake.
Awesome video but what was with the repeating three piano notes throughout the entire thing. Once I noticed them I couldn't ignore em and they drove me nuts
The biggest movie mistake on my list, was in Star Trek Wrath of Khan, because Chekov and Khan never met in Space Seed. Yet recognized each other in the movie.🤣
As a person who had his fair share of butt kicking (receiving and sometimes giving) the Godfather scene can be explained. Yes the punch did not connect but if your getting a asskicking you will flinch so I would chalk it up to that.
I guess I too enthralled with watching each of these movies, as I never saw any of the 'mistakes"! If I were the Director, I would have intentionally put in some mistakes hoping they would end up on a list like this, and maybe people will go out and stream it or buy. A little more Money!!
Maybe, juuuust maybe, Tony Stark infused his nanotechnology into the shield before he returned to Cap? We saw his armor fix itself, maybe the shield had the same ability?
“Could easily have been reshot”! Wow. Clear lack of understanding how long it can take a shot to be reset. You had water spraying, extras to get back into place, vehicles moving in the background. They may have had no time to get all that back and ready to go again. Shoot a movie scene with that many moving parts then say how easy it would be to just go again.
Only movie I've seen off this list was Jurassic Park. I did see the first HP movie, but it was so substandard compared to the book, I never bothered with the other movies. ALSO, I think the actor who played HP should have been replaced if he could not wear the colored contacts because it was a huge turn off for me for HP to not have the fabled green eyes. Basically, HP didn't have his mother's eyes or even Harry Potter's eyes.
I have a mistake that I haven't seen mentioned yet The scene in 48 hours with Nick nolte and Eddie Murphy after Nick nolte gets Eddie out of prison they're driving around in that convertible light blue Cadillac Eddie's handcuffed in front of him and then they show a scene from the back of the car when they're going down the hills in San Francisco Eddie has his left arm stretched out across the top of the seat and then the next scene he's handcuffed again in front of himself I don't think that they're going to take the cuffs off just to drive around for a while then put them back on it had to be a mistake
Saying “you have your mother’s eyes” does not necessarily mean the color. We often mean the shape, the thickness of eyelashes, etc. Not always just the color.
I always thought the bullet holes were supposed to be there, the gun fires blanks and Jules thinks he has literally dodged bullets, hence his "moment of clarity" and redemption arc, but the holes are from another unrelated event so his epiphany or miracle is in fact false.
That had crossed my mind. Also the holes are to the left of Jules when the guy was aiming towards them. Who says they're bullet holes anyway? They could be any kind of wear and tear, it was a pretty run down looking room.
Well regardless of mistakes or bloopers.all the shows were and are great shows that kids and adults loved.todays so called perfect movies aren't great to me
