Would have been good if you'd added that ที่ can also be used for "that". E.g. "the girl that I like" = "สาวที่ผมชอบ"

Hi I have a question. I've been watching a lot of your tutorials, but this time I noticed you spelled ฉัน to ชั้น... What's the difference between these two?. I hope you can help me out here.
@nontawatmayi9368
@nontawatmayi9368 4 года назад
In her context, ชั้น means I as in English. It’s written in accordance with her pronunciation as well as it is spoken language. [in Thailand, most people say ชั้น instead of ฉัน as it is easier for us to say it. However, ชั้น (as a pronoun) is informal when it comes to writing, so you will not find it in official letters, newspaper, etc. ชั้น also has another meaning as it can also means class or floor. For example, ชั้น 2 means 2nd floor. Therefore, it depends on the contexts whether it means I or floor. No worry, you will get a hang of it once you learn more Thai 😊

For all words referring to me (chan), do we change it to “phom” for guys?
@epix38
@epix38 4 года назад
+1. Have the same question... I'm not really sure, as a male, if I should say "phom" rather than "chan". It seems that "phom" is very restricted to male. But "chan" could be use by both male and female in non-formal language. But I would expect a thai-native confirmation.
@jesusmanrique5246
@jesusmanrique5246 4 года назад
@@epix38 As far as I've learned about it, "phom" is used exclusively by males. "chan" is essentially for females, but it can be used by males under very specific circumstances, for example, if you're referring yourself to your loved one (or even your best friend). It brings a sense of "cuteness" when you talk to someone you have close relationship with.

Pity the Thai script is mostly masked by the under title ( and with the transliteration you go nowhere ). ครูเป็นสิ่งที่ดีมาก

Just get on with the material and stop making useless little nervous giggly anecdotes along the way. They are irritating.
