For your friends who are contractors: if you have a Lowe's business credit card, delivery fees are drastically reduced -- starting at only $20 (instead of $79).
Matt and all- H E L P ! I need recommendations on the best skillet to cook eggs in! We use cast-iron but obviously our seasoning is not up to par because daughter made scrambled eggs last night and well they're still STUCK to the bottom of the pan. Maybe the pan was on too high heat? Idk 🤷♀️
I have three things to point out that were not included in this video or other videos. My dad being a contractor and myself being a freelancer and home improvement type, anyone can do this. If you need an appliance, rather than going to the ones on the floor, go to the back, and they usually offer scratched or dented appliances that are either on the side or back of the machines. You will never see them if you put them up against the wall or against another machine and you can get up to 40% to 60% off. A second piece of saving, while most places offer only color pallets or tile pallets on piece of paper to find what looks good to your home, Lowe's will also let you take home a sample amount of paint, and up to four pieces of tile, depending on the area. This makes it more accurate to determine what tile or paint will look good in your home. Third saving advice, be friends with the managers and employees, sometimes, they can knock a price down for 20% off, especially if it's a display.
Problem with scratch and dent sometimes is that Lowe's will try and resell broken or returned appliances (or other items) in this section. Have to be very careful buying some of these as you could be buying someone else's broken appliance. I had exchanged a Dewalt drill that had a broken chuck on it for a new one. The following weekend I saw the drill I returned on the clearance table for sale. I knew it was the same one I returned because of the markings on the broken chuck. This doesn't happen all the time, and is not unique to Lowe's, but you have to be careful of these sketchy sales tactics.
So if Lowe’s cuts lumber for free, and you drive a Prius, just have them chop 50 2x4’s into 2 foot sections and then glue them back together when you get home.
Hello! I wanted to let you know that after watching this video I asked Lowe's about the discount on large projects you mentioned. We got set up with a Pro Account and our 1st discount was for 23% on a huge order. If you know the price of wood these days, you can imagine the help that was! Thanks for what you do. 😊 P.S. I think you have an adorable family ❤
I’ve bought the $1 distressed plants many times with great results. Last year we got a dozen Proven Winners annuals, normally about $5 all for $1 each. So $12 vs. $60! And every one of them bloomed for about 6 months, a long time for annuals!
I’m able to get Lowe’s gift cards with my Discover reward points too. $45 gets you $50. And the Lowe’s by my house has some parking spaces near the front that are reserved for veterans, which is nice
Great tips. A couple you missed - the discounted sections. Usually all the way at the back end caps of the store. You can find some great stuff if you're lucky. I like the returned paint rack in the paint section. Paint is super expensive and you might just find what you need for deeply discounted prices. I'm talking like 5 bucks for a previously $40 gal of paint. Lastly, the open-box section in the power tools are. This is by far my favorite. I've gotten power tools there for 50 to 75% off just because the box was opened. These are normally returned items, so double check for missing parts.
Yep! Also the rugs and carpet section if someone returns an area rug or picks out carpeting and gets it cut and returns it it's usually extremely cheap. I got a walk-in closet carpeted completely with carpeting I got that someone had return for literally Pennies on the dollar.
My mom once took a picture of an oven a few months before fourth of july at lowes. She came back a few months later during the sale and saw a sticker showing 50% off, But the price was just doubled and then halved so it was the exact same price. She showed the manager and said she was going to tell the news about their fake sales aswell as put it on google and yelp. They gave her an extra 50% off that day on the oven. -true story at a lowes is southern california.
Not only do they use the inflated figure for the appearance of a sale that isn't happening, they use it as the reference for selling additional warranty coverage, which will inflate that cost, too. I spend a lot with this company, but 'buyer beware' is the best tip for saving money there. Save your receipt is the second best, imo, as the onus is on you to prove your warranty is valid, and your dead plants can be returned ( one year on perrenials, 90 days for annuals), but only w the receipt.
I worked at JCPenny years back for Christmas and they kinda pulled the same thing. Their coats, jewelry etc. was put on the floor and marked as 20% off for the whole season!
I had the exact same problem with a TV at Sun Appliance a few years back. The salesman had advised me to wait a week as the TV was going to be on sale, but the price went up, before the sale. They would not honour the original price (less than the new sale price) even though the salesman had written all the info down, signed & dated it. Long story short...I found a better TV, cheaper elsewhere, and the stores went out of business a few years later.
@Munoz360 Ok I’m taking notes... and photos.... so I can get the threat right. “Tell the news about their fake sales and put it on google and Yelp.” That was golden. Good for your mom! 😀
We’ve participated successfully in Lowes “distressed plant” rescue by reviving marginally dehydrated plants. One has to be selective in desert climates. Nice savings on these and it’s amazing what H2O and a little TLC can do.
@la mann....yep, u r right... we always add fertilizer to the planting hole; fertilizing regularly with Miracle Grow gives great results. We just “rescued” (paid full price but it was suffering from lack of water ) a dragon fruit plant (not recommended for the desert) from Home Depot last month and it’s grown 6 inches after planting, H2O and fertilizing with MG. We are amazed.
Great tips. And just an FYI, all those free cutting items such as blinds, wood, chains, carpet, wire shelving, etc, are also cut for free at Home Depot. I'm a vendor for blinds and just wanted to let you known that for your next Home Depot video. Always love your videos. They help a ton. Thanks again buddy.
@@Oceangirl_505 we just got Home Decorators (store brand) Cordless, 2.5” Faux Wood White Blinds at the Home Depot and they are nice quality. Nicer than the Levolor Brand they carry.
Great video!! A tip that I have is usually in the appliance section they will have put a "scratch & dent" section. Sometimes the appliance only has a minor scratch/dent & is marked down. If the dent is bigger or more noticeable & the price isn't marked down enough for you, ask for a manager & ask them very nicely if that's the lowest they can go. A lot of times, the manager will mark it down some more just to clear out space. 👍🛒❤️
Lowe's Secret #6B, coming from a former Lowe's employee: If you do take advantage of the cutting services inside the store, ask the store associates who is best at cutting that particular item and be there when that employee is working. Don't show up during times when the department is understaffed or staffed by a rookie that just learned how to cut things last week. If you do come during those times, Lowe's is still required to find someone to cut your item, and the inexperienced employee that gets stuck helping you might really mess up the job.
I've just recently found your channel. I just love it and sure appreciate all the time and energy you spend sharing these tips and tricks with people. You're videos are very informative and fun to watch!! Thanks
JC Penny + Lowe's overlap: Seasonal decor, rugs, blinds, shelving systems, closet organisers, indoor plants and indoor plant supplies. For a start. I haven't done a recent deep-dive scan, but that's what I remember.
Thanks for these tips some I did not know and I could of saved over the years. Couple things I wanted to add: 1) (bonus tip) Download the app before going to store if you need help finding/locating something and you search it in the app it will tell you EXACTLY where that item is in the store so you are not running around lost. 2) Military discount will not work on (most) already discounted/sales items but it will for the rest of your items in your cart. For instance, the 5 bags of mulch for $10 sale you cannot combine mil discount or on some sale items of major appliances they say the sale is too much already to add the mil discount :(
My sister in law lives out in the sticks of NM. She ran into that exact issue with "free shipping " because of her proximity to the store. We never knew that, but you're exactly right! Love all your helpful videos! I always use my military discount at Lowes! I get 10% savings on my purchases (like with the door I recently got there)!
Shipment is only $20 for building supplies with a commercial account. I've ordered 4 pallets of premixed concrete bags with the $20 delivery fee, what a back and time saver.
They are very good at price matching other store prices also. I have many times seen product at Ace or Home Depot, taken a picture, gone to check Lowe's. The quality is often better and Lowe's has price matched the lower $$. Example- plywood barn siding was $36.00 per 4x8 ft at HD, but at Lowe's was $42.00 for same (I even pointed out thickness NOT same, thicker 5/8" at Lowe's). They price matched entire purchase anyway, saved me $72).
Matt, I have asked at my local Home Depot if I could get a distressed half dead plant for a lower price and I was told "No, we don't do that." so I will definitely check that out at my Lowe's. Thanks!
What? Wow! Now I know I can rent trucks to haul things to my house good to know ! Also I don’t know if the local post office still does 20% coupons in their change of address packets. I believe when you do change of addresses you are able to do it online as well and they usually send you coupons. Lowe’s is one of those coupons that’s worth it.
@@Cheyennelllove thank you! I thought the same! Its always good to check with our local Lowes to see if they do have the services available. I havent checked the ones near my area but I definitely love the idea because it's convenient for the customers
We built a house last year and Lowe’s had some of the best prices on plumbing and lighting. We went through the Pro desk and saved even more. We opened an AMEX card and saved 5% additional on this purchase plus will get 5% off all future purchases. They were great to work with.
Shopping Secret #1 from an ex-employee. The clearance price will tell you how old the markdown is. The item showed in the video was for $10.91 for lava rock. The penny will tell you that it is one week old. Markdowns are updated weekly on Fridays for these tags.
I shop at Lowe's ALL the time and didn't know half of the amazing tips you provided!!! Like the truck rental and price match are HUGE!! Thanks for your videos! They are always filled with fun/informative content. Also, thanks for being you!! =)
Love your videos. You may want to consider mentioning LGD appliances. Not sure about the rest of the US but there are no service reps available to fix a warranty problem in the Philadelphia area (2019 incident.) We bought a refrigerator and no one got back to us when we called to report a problem with our new unit. The phone rep told us you “someone one will get back with you” and no one ever did. Their warranty means nothing.
Thank you for this information. I always buy distressed plants from Lowe's. Some I have revived, some I have killed. However, the prices are great for each plant.
Missed one: 11.) You can buy broken bags of mulch topsoil, etc. for a discount, anywhere from half price to one dollar per bag, depending on the store. Use a tarp in your car to help keep it clean.
Regarding tip #6, I stopped by my local Lowes. I passed four employees to inquire about my lumber purchase being cut. Waited 20 minutes and no one showed up. Finally went all the way down the lumber aisle and asked a cashier to call someone for assistance. I finally got fed up after another 20 minutes passing by, put my lumber back and left the store. I was also going to buy a table band saw, but I couldn't find anyone to unlock the tool corral. My local Lowes is severely underemployed to the point that no one wants to do their jobs, lollygag the work hours away, and pick up a paycheck or just have an excuse for unemployment.
I have almost exclusively bought my perennials and many annual flowers off of the clearance racks at Lowe's over the last few years. Many times flowers have nothing wrong with them, just need to be moved so new stock can be brought in. I take them home, water and fertilize them and within a couple of days they are totally recovered and growing. Why spend full price?
@@nanny551 If the plants on the clearance rack aren't marked....I get the clerks attention and ask about it, BEFORE I take them to the check-out. This year my local Lowe's has switched to color-coded marks through the bar-codes (green is 25% off, yellow is 50% off, red is 75% off). Then they have that info at the registers. It works pretty well so far.
@The Deal Guy I recently got the Pro's card and was surprised when I got my bill. They also apparently had a $100 credit for signing up and using the card. Made my clearance tools even cheaper 😎
Anyone else think this guy could be the guy from the TV show "perfect strangers" (not Belki, the other one) who hopped in a time machine to present day to give us these videos?
Also check local utility companies for many appliances there are additional rebates based on make and model for energy/water consumption that may make it cheaper to upgrade to a higher end dishwasher for example compared to a middle of the road model
Lowe's employee here. Not a spokesperson by any means. Sometimes Clearance stickers are only temporary, either until a certain date (visible on our Genesis screen, if the employee knows where to look, not that it's really hidden) or until our stock drops to some desired, lowered qty, or so I've noticed (this latter part is just something I concluded on my own). I've noticed that sometimes they'll return to white tag items after being yellow Clearance. Look under the barcode for a small uppercase "N" on both white & yellow tags. This means it's nonstocked/inactive. I personally haven't been looking that closely lately, but I think we're still doing that N thing (ordinary employee here, & policies do change). Nonstock clearanced items, when confirmed to be the last one in the store, are items you'll usually have an easier time talking to a manager & getting a good deal on it. Also, items go on clearance for various other reasons, like a change of seasons, Lowe's changing vendors (new product will be white tagged, another explanation for white to yellow to white again), or qty/volume of a product changing. The 75 mi. radius has been the policy for yrs. Also, maybe it's changed, but at least in the past, if you declined @ the register to get the Extended Protection Plan (i.e. extended warranty), you do (did?) have up to 30 days from purchase to add/buy one. This obviously doesn't mean be crazy hard/abusive on your purchase!! It's just in case you do change your mind. Please don't steal, cheat, lie, etc. It does hurt the employees as well as driving up prices. And we do know & see the thieves. It makes us mad, too. I know how to cut all but pipecutting & tile cutting; the latter is gone now, @ least in our store. I know how to cut electrical wire, but making sure the customer is getting what they actually need, per actual electricians, is over my head, vs what somebody has heard they need & asks me to cut. So, to avoid cutting/selling the wrong product, I'm just hands-off on that (don't want to be the reason an electrical fire burns a house down!). Many of these things really aren't things Lowe's "doesn't want you to know." For price matching, it has to be an identical match, including size/qty/model #/etc. Our location has in the past posted when rebates are available through, say, the main power company in our region, sometimes actual paperwork on the tables we'll sometimes have by the entrance. It's been a while since I've seen one of those, but I also don't work in Electrical or Appliances, nor have I cashiered as much as I used to (rebate offers used to print up on receipt paper). Before buying a plant listed as a perennial, please take a moment to check its cold hardiness. If your region gets too cold for the plant, it'll basically make that plant an annual. Dig the hole twice the width of the pot, use SuperThrive or QuickStart to reduce transplant shock, & spread those roots out!! Can you guess which dept I'm in? Keep the tags w/ the barcode/item # for that 1st yr, too, as sometimes it's hard to guesstimate what plant/size you bought a yr ago when we're eyeballing the plants that didn't make it. Run your MyLowes card (not a credit card) or the Lowe's credit card when buying them to make it easier for us. Again, I have no official say, policies & practices change, & so please keep that in mind.
1. Remember only Levelor blinds can be cut. None of the other (cheaper) brands. 2. The 20% is on the first $100 spent - i.e., $20. 3. Price matching for Amazon is for Amazon products only, NOT for third-party sellers. 4. Customers need to know that Lowe's will sometimes deliver their products from the store closest to where they live, not necessarily the store they bought the product from (this matters to some customers, but I don't know a way to get around it).
You are correct. I was told about 18 months to 2 years ago they changed their policy. If the sale price is more than the 10% military discount you only get the sale price. The offers can’t be combined.
There's a one-day sale at Lowes today. I purchased a Kobalt electric lawn mower with a battery and charger for less than 200 bucks. Don't sleep on this deal
I have asked for discounts for damaged appliances and got a heck of a deal just by asking. They even delivered it for free. When it arrived, it was actually a brand new stove, not the one with the scratch on the side. I told them, that was not the discounted stove I bought... they asked me if I was happy with the new stove. I said sure, they then said enjoy your new stove.
About the price match: if on Amazon, it has to be sold by Amazon or the actual company. No third parties and it has to be presented at the time of purchase. I worked at Lowe’s for five years!
I just closed out my Lowe's Advantage Credit card because, when I got mine, I was told that my payments would be $20.00 a month for a $1,000.00 limit and that it would never go up. What they FAIL to tell you that, even though you don't miss a single payment, they make the payment go up anyway. My payments went from being $20.00 a month to it now being $180.00 a month. The $20.00 dollars a month was basically me paying on the interest alone. They are now threatening me with my account going to a collection agency, even though I haven't missed a single payment. In my honest opinion, I wouldn't even bother getting the Lowe's card. I cut mine up and closed my account with them so that I can pay them off at my leisure.
I appreciate what you help me learn. My eyes don't allow me to read things carefully so I need people to tell me what to look for and where it might be. We bought 2 appliances last year at Lowe's and I wish we had seen any rebates. I don't think anyone told us of them. Thank you.
My brother drives a roll-off truck. He picks up their compactor containers once a week. They give their vendors huge discounts on "damaged" merchandise. He just got me one of the touch screen Samsung refrigerators for $200 because it had a small dent on the side. (That's a $3200 fridge for $200, y'all.) Fridge works great and you can't tell it has a dent because it's hidden by cabinets. 🤣
FYI…Mark I am in California San Diego actually and you get 10 to 15% discount at Lowe’s and also at Home Depot if you are a military. It has saved us a lot of money throughout the years especially when we were remodeling and I know other people that live in other states it applies to them to all you have to do is call your local store and ask for your discount it definitely is worth it.
I bought a Metabo table saw that was $70 off, and with the Advantage Card got another $100. Two weeks later we needed a new dishwasher so my wife got an Advantage Card (5 minutes to fill out on phone) and we saved another $100 on top of the heavily discounted sale price. Of course, I paid both debts off within 30 days and cut the cards. If you are a vet you get another 10%
Glad I watched this. I use the 5% discount from the lowes credit card because I can pay the bill in full each time I use the card. It básically saves money on the tax I pay. I never ever get the extended warranty because the lowes repair program on appliances is not good. It takes two weeks for a service call on a washer. Two-four weeks for a part to come in.
What I noticed just yesterday a Sunday to stop into a local La Habra Lowes Store. I normally shop (weekly the past year) Home Depot La Habra. Our La Habra Home Depot although handy and of course cool is often crowed isles with one cart passage and lighting is horrible. Appliance department is a snug fit and lighting is ok. Home Depot is often cluttered and messy. Yesterday walking into Lowes is was SUPER Well Lit and clean and organized. When a store is poorly lit you just don't get that "Hey lets go look over here" feeling. But with that said the crew there has always been great to help you find what you are looking for. Still love our Home Depot but I have to say after my Lowes visit I will be tempted to drop into Lowes.
We asked a lowes associate to cut a couple pvc pipes for us. He exact words were "that's not our problem, we sell pvc pipe cutters over there you can do that yourself."
Military discount of 10% at Lowes applies to the entire purchase. Home Depot also has a 10% military discount UP TO $50 max discount amount (last time I checked, about a year ago). I bought a new dish washer, stove, another stove, microwave, refrigerator and washer/dryer all at Lowes for this vary reason.
There two tag 🏷 the yellow tag means sale (a couple of dollars 💵 are knot off) and second tag 🏷 means Clarence (which means it going To be reduced, and I’m not carrying it no more)
I was in a Lowes the other day and saw some bits for my Dewalt impact they were marked $19.95 they were on an endcap so i used my Lowes app and scanned the sticker and it came up for $6.24 instead of $19.95
Thumbs up. Thank you as a newly retired military officer. I knew about the 10% discount which I use but not to be used in conjunction with dep discounts. I just purchased a home.
I enjoyed all the information on your vidio .I've shopped Lowe's for 20 years. Great information which I will use in the future's shopping sprees. Thank you.
Lowe's online sells drapes, bedding, towels, etc. Something I was unaware of until I did a search for bedding & the Lowe's site came up among others. None in the store but found good buys online.
We did the pro center deal..we moved and remodeled and it saved us a ton of money. Depending on who's at the counter they can be great. Get a quote, go back and see if someone else will give you a better price!
My local Lowe’s doesn’t want you to know that they hire people who are incapable of answering any of your questions........even if you can find one to ask.
About six years ago Lowe's began a massive staff reduction; for instance, Hardware went from three full-timers and one part-timer to four part-timers. In addition, they staff the stores during peak hours, but may only have one person covering two or three departments later in the evening (and often only a manager has been trained on everything). In addition, they often take their time filling vacancies - it may be a couple of months before a replacement arrives (or a couple of weeks. You never know....) In addition, most of the "Pro" positions have been or will be eliminated. In addition, there are major incentives to keep staff hours down. In addition, staff is under enormous pressure to work their departments. Customers often stroll into the store with time on their hands and want to take their time chatting about whatever, but staff need to keep going. State your needs and get what you want (if they have it) and move on.
At least the Lowe's people in my area attempt to help customers. The majority of the Home Depot staff tend to grab their gear and go the other way, if you look like you need help or have a question. Many times I just need something way up on the rack, gotten down for me (cannot reach 7 feet).
Thank you for sharing. These are so much help for us looking for sales and deals. Keep up the great work and having fun while making these videos. Stay safe everyone.
I got a GREAT DEAL on my last Washer & Dryer! Why/how? One Lowes had the exact washer in the exact color for a HUGE discount because they didn’t have the matching dryer; but another one close by had the exact mate & in gas which I wanted! So, I was able to get both for the price of one & because I lived within 25 miles of each of them got free delivery & setup including removal of old appliances. What a deal!!
With a little haggle you can get floor models discounted as well. We purchased a just over $800 dishwasher for less than $300. It was a kitchen aid and was the only one left. Of course speaking with "honey on our lips" helped I'm sure.
Many floor models are just the outer shell with no working motor in it --- so if they tell you they don't sell floor models, that's why. If they tell you they can't sell the floor model, don't waste your time trying to haggle with them.
For the plants, not only do you need the proof of purchase but you also need to keep the pot with the barcode or else we aren’t able to identify it and we won’t be able to do anything. Long time Lowe’s associate here!
