Actually, he never found Kenobi because he literally went into hiding. Darth Vader never wanted to visit Tatooine again because he grew up there, was a slave there, his mother died there, he met his first true love there, etc. It would've been too devastating for him to go to the planet.
5:49 If a Jedi wielding a lightsaber tried to kick me in the head and missed, I would do exactly what this man did. Take the opportunity to fall over and play dead.
Not enough women in the original trilogy. This makes me remember when MAD Magazine parodied "Return Of The Jedi". The dialogue went like this. Obi-Wan:- "You also have a sister". Luke :- "Leia! Leia is my sister". Obi-Wan :- "Your inner feelings serve you well". Luke :- "My inner feelings, and the fact that she is the only girl in all of these movies".
@@kevinjames7267 Oh, I'm sorry. I thought that SW fans didn't want females to do anything in the new films, and to just stay in the background. Rey does a lot, but fans bagged her at every opportunity, because they didn't want the lead to the new films to be a girl, and the producers were accused of being PC and virtue-signalling by having a strong female character. Fans liked Leia because she was in the original films, which fans can't stop jerking off over, and ignore all the flaws in those, and they also got off on Leia wearing the golden bikini in ROTJ. The fact is, the new films could have had Leia do more, if Carrie Fisher had made better life choices and not smashed her life with alcohol and drugs.
@@dhenderson1810 Because Rey is a Mary Sue. It’s not even opinion it’s fact. She’s perfect from the start and doesn’t experience an ounce of character growth or challenge through the entirety of the fan fiction of a trilogy. She starts with the same origin story as Luke (that’s 2 hero’s journey tropes in one film series) before telling Fin not to hold her hand because she’s a strong independent woman, tells Han how to fix and fly the Millennium Falcon perfectly, before using a Jedi mind trick after only learning about the force 2 hours prior. Cue the repeat of a New Hope with a new Death Star, before she beats a far more experienced Kylo Ren with a lightsaber. And no one was against a female character from the start. It’s just that seeing a female lead and ethnically diverse cast shoehorned into a pre-established franchise in the year 2015 set off alarm bells for good reason as it generally eludes to more of a focus on pandering and less on making an actually good story. And voila, the sequel trilogy was born.
Luke has family there and will be loved... Plus, Tattooine doesn't exactly keep records so someone walking around with the name Skywalker would go unnoticed.
Lord Chumpington ">27%" is the same as "27% 27%" and "27% " then it would be "greater than twenty-seven percent". if you don't believe me go ask a teacher of math or other mathematician
If the open part always faces the larger number, why would >27% mean less than 27%? Clearly the point is facing 27%, which means it is the smaller number.
Interestingly enough in a star wars comic han gets gets killed by native Americans who thought chewie was Bigfoot. This also crosses over with Indiana jones
He didn't know his wife was having twins. He didn't even know his wife survived. I don't think the force lets you sense that specifically about people, just that certain types of people are around or that you're not alone
In the first comics after Episode 4, Vader hires Boba Fett to find out more about the boy who destroyed the death star. Boba was only successful learning his name was Skywalker. And since there was no other Skywalker in the galaxy, Vader put two and two together, plus the fact he could feel Luke using the force when he was going down the deathstar trench
This is literally the first video where someone points out the Cantina bar fight was inconsistent. I never knew who actually got their arm cut off because of that one glaring issue.
booo. i smell retcon. i don't quite know where this part spider thing came from, but he was originally referred to as "walrus-man" not "part-spider man". his tusks are walrus-like tusks, not spider fangs or palps. and yes, wookiepedia says aqualish blood doesn't cauterize. but blood for anyone tmk doesn't cauterize. flesh cauterizes. you cauterize flesh to stop bleeding. that arm looked particularly fleshy, as did his entire body. i saw no exoskeleton there. He shouldn't have bled.
well, yeah, but if you want to fall back on that, if i understand you correctly, then the laws of everything as we know it break down. if it happens that way because he's an alien and ... reasons... we can't really discuss it because we turn it into an unknowable variable. i prefer the reason that they just simply messed up and people like to play the "lucas knew what he was doing" game 40 years later and do their best to rationalize it. I admit it is fun thinking of reasons why but we all know the truth is: while it worked then, the story changed, and this event had to be re-explained to comply, thus people make up the rest. Unless you're talking about the xenomorph, and in that case, his blood is acid. maybe that's why it didn't get held back by cauterized flesh. :)
I question why Stormtroopers wear armor when every blaster we see on-screen can kill someone inside that armor quite easily. I REALLY question why they bother when bows, spears, and rocks can ALSO do the same thing.
Noah Weisbrod Idea is to make it so they black out instead of dying to blaster fire, but blunt force weapons like the Ewoks had worked. There's literally books on this topic, and it's just so heavily reconnect that it gets really complex.
Armor that makes soldiers pass out instead of die isn't much of a tactical advantage. Either way, your troops are out of the fight. Instead of getting killed during the battle, they'll be taken prisoner or executed after the battle.
TheAnoSphere The entire prequels score is pretty great. But even as someone who grew up with the prequels, they're bad, my guy. Also, Maul in TPM is a big pile of nothing that fans project onto so they can think of him as "a great character".
The prequels gave us AMAZING video games. Seems Disney/EA has the wrong idea when they avoid anything prequel like the plague. Had enough of Hoth and Endor years ago give me Clone Commandos.
Storm troopers hitting up to 27% of their shots is actually really good. It's estimated that the US Army produces one enemy casualty for every 250,000 rounds shot. That is 0.0004%.
that was a Vietnam era statistic, they didn't train with the same emphasis on accuracy as they do now. That said, 27% is still probably a lot better than real life numbers, so the general point stands
ficklegruber that sounds about right, I remember in Predator, Arnold’s spec/ops team fired around 10,000 rounds at the Predator, & only hit it once in the leg!
That's usually the tactic. Put more bullets (or blaster bolts) down range to suppress the enemy from shooting back. Also, I think someone did an article on troops not really being able to kill another person, so they might miss on purpose in hopes of scaring the enemy away rather than have to live with taking a life.
No you mixed up some things. Of course in Irak or Afghanistan, less than 25% of shots fired hit a target because usually target are more then 300 or 400 meters. In Star Wars, the Stormtroopers engage target at less than 50 meters (usually 10m) and even if you are not a good shooter, even if don't aim, you cannot miss at that range. If you have already shot, you know it's impossible, even more with a blaster that is recoiless!! So I am a great fan of Clones and Stormtroopers and all soldiers in Star Wars, but this is unrealistic as hell. (Even in Rogue One, Stormtroopers seems to be 7 years old with water pistol ... And I will not even speak of the Death Trooper who are supposed to be "Special Forces...)
"In Star Wars, the Stormtroopers engage target at less than 50 meters (usually 10m) and even if you are not a good shooter, even if don't aim, you cannot miss at that range. " Adrenaline messes up fine motor control.
and "consecutive" means "one after the other" - perhaps 'simultaneous' was what he meant about the timelines (a point well made though). A 27% hit rate in a firefight is not too bad - and "they let us go, it's the only explanation for the ease of our escape" - ie they missed on purpose in Ep 4... ? (doesn't explain why they get taken out by a bunch of cuddly toys in Ep 6 mind...)
Obi Wan does not need to be a master hider. The empire thinks he's dead. Speaking to Vader, Gran Moff Tarkin says "The Jedi are extinct. Their fire has gone out of the universe. You, my friend, are all that's left of their religion". So why would you look for Obi Wan?
Monokultur Drokles Vader new he was alive, but nobody else believed him. So he alone looked for him and never thought to go back to the one planet he hated most
@@gillystrange vader couldn't go back to Tatooine because of the emotional pain it caused him. First it was where he and his mom were slaves and where his mom died in his arms. If it was me I would never ever go back there. That is why Obi Wan the closest person to him besides padme took luke there because he knew that Anakin would never go there.
I've always liked the from my point of view the Jedi are evil line never saw a problem with it it explains what I like and feels how he feels betrayed because the Jedi are breaking the code willy-nilly and you also gotta understand that we know he's a Sith from the beginning but Anakin doesn't know it so basically they're telling Anakin to spy and possibly betray his only Father Figure he had in this life

For y’all old heads that bash the prequels, they added so many characters, droids, and creatures. Star Wars would be clone troopers 3 good guys and two villains without them
@@lilsteez8219 Leia kissed Luke in 'a new hope'. It's my guess that Luke and Leia weren't meant to be siblings originally. We know SW went to many changes. GL might have changed it for the dramatic sake of the story.
I liked the Ewoks, but I agree the way they were used was too comically. Otherwise I agree - the OT was as imperfect as Lucas, and as good as Lucas. And so was the prequel trilogy. Both are good, entertaining, but imperfect, just in different eras (both in cannon and in filmmaking).
I thought they were funny. I was 3 or 4 when I first saw the film. I didn't become monstrously cynical in adulthood about everything I liked as a kid. Except Pete's Dragon (the original) because screw that movie, it's terrible.
Although I too find the Ewok scenes both boring and annoying, I think a Wookie planet defeats the whole point of the storyline, which is that even small, poor, primitive beings can defeat powerful empires if they have the will.
The destruction of Alderaan should have been a rallying point for the rebellion across the galaxy. Instead it's treated with all the sadness and sense of loss that one might feel over a broken lamp. And then it's never mentioned again. Also there's a plot inconsistency right in the opening minutes of Empire. The opening crawl Cleary states that the rebels went to Hoth LEAD by Luke Skywalker. In the very next shot it is clear that Luke is NOT the leader. Who sends their leader on recon duty?
Eric Stoverink Month late but! "Lead by" could merely mean he "led them" there. Not as CO but as a pathfinder of sorts. He could have found Hoth and all. As for Alderaan, the rallying of systems happened after the Death Star was destroyed. No one could risk supporting the Alliance with it in effect; Rogue One even showed the Council of the Alliance fracturing due to fear of its power. Once the power was gone - along with Tarkin - Systems called out openly and left the Empire in droves. Because the fear was destroyed, by a designer who lied and Luke. :D
I still think the greatest injustice ever pointed out on RU-vid was the creation of Naboo. Belatedmedia has a great how to fix Episode 1 video and one of his "holy shit" suggestions was just to rename Naboo to Alderaan to A) Give this world that's blink and you'll miss it destruction some screen time B) Set up a grim dark even if we win in this movie the planet still doesn't survive C) It could have given the Emperor even more depravity showing he's willing to blow up his own homeworld because there's nothing that passes for humanity in him still. In this suggestion Gungans are still a thing and the no major changes to the world beyond the name
manny2fs I just mentioned this somewhere else. I think Obi-Wan is suppose to be 57 and Vader in his late 40s, not both old men... The argument for Obi-Wan is that there are two suns on Tatooine and he's lived a hard life... It's dumb.
It was a mistake in writing by George Lucas, but he had so many things to keep track of. Doing 1 prequel film would be tough enough to stay true to cannon, but 3? I think, initially, Anakin was suppose to be much older when he turned to the dark side. That the Clone Wars would have lasted a decade or more instead of a few years.
Its maybe a point that by the time the prequels were made he was a much bigger name and actors probably didnt dare oppose him as much to enhance their dialogue as actors in the OT did. But he is not all tp blaim. Some of the performances were just really bad. I think the clone wars actually the best section of the whole prequel era
To note, Lucas was A WRITER on all 6 Films. however it is not that simple. He's Credited as the Sole Writer on 'Star Wars' and the Prequel Trilogy. He outsourced the Script for 'Empire' to a famous Lady Sci-Fi Writer, but it was followed-up on by Lawrence Kasdan when she died before Rewrites could be done. Kasdan is also the Co-Writer on 'Return of the Jedi.' In other words, 'George Lucas Wrote the Star Wars Films' is quite a bit misleading.
Yes but Lucas provided the story. De guy was nothing but a story teller not a writer. I like the whole story of the Prequels (It's how I can easily watch all 7 episodes) but I agree that a second opinion on the script was needed to make it movie scripts.
Alec Pridgen but there is another problem that is being ignored. when the first three were made Lucas was on set but did not have the clout that he had during the prequel filming so the directors and actors could argue with him over lines and delivery that could happen during the prequel filming.
I said I can watch them without a problem, Yes some continuty errors where created Like Leia remembering Padme, wich I always explained as A: She remembers Bail's wife as her "real" mother or B: she felt a conection through the Force. My personal stand on it, but she also doesn't remember much she just felt a sadness. (Also when I first watched Padme die I atomaticly clicked, like why take away a son from his mother while mother goes to on other planet where Daugter lived. So when Padme died and Luke and Liea got adopted away without Vader knowing either of them existed, yeah that souned good in my head while being obliviousof that quote.) I mean there are others things, like Obi-wan telling us Yoda instructed him and then there was Qui-gon, i always explained that as the fact all younglings get some lessons from Yoda. Point is I said I liked the story of the Prequels while yes execution fell flat on some things.
The originals were very childish, for me anyway, still loved them though, but the extended universe, the old republic etc provided a more mature setting for me
the ewok movies made me appreciate the ewoks more, granted the ewok movies were terrible but the way the ewoks were fleshed out in the movies made them me appreciate them.
JonneTopiRausku but the only thing he mentioned that's connected to the prequels is his jedi clothes. that's it. everything else is a problem since the original film.
Him being bad at hiding was AMPLIFIED by the Prequels. He was still hiding from the Empire under his own name. If you are going to bring Books and Comics into it pre-Prequels, well, he did do a mission or two on Tatooine with Anakin, so...
Even if you take away the prequels, you still have to admit that Obi Wan is kinda shit at hiding. Isn't the Sith suppose to think that Jedis don't exist any more? Then why change your name to something that sounds like your real name and live very close to your pupil's son. Yeah it's to keep an eye one Luke but if Darth can sense Luke on different planets, he's going to know both of them are on the same planet. The only smart move was to was to put Luke out in the space boonies..... I think that what the planet was meant to be.
“From my point of view the Jedi are evil” is a great line, it hits hard af in the moment. I’ve never heard it be the target of prequel haters. I personally like the prequels a bit better than the OT because of all the universe expansion it has mostly due to modern special FX but I also sorta find Lukes story kinda boring. Don’t get me wrong I love the OT still but the prequels just offer a bigger and more exciting universe, and the Anakin vs Obi Wan fight is my absolute favourite thing in Star Wars.
@@PzPewwi he may sound stupid, but you have to be the most non-observant person ever. The bad guys technically won in ROTS, because Palpatine and Vader created The Empire successfully and took over the world, and they definitely won in Episode V with Boba Fett taking Han as a carbonite trophy and Vader telling Luke his secret, and cutting his hand off. And in the new trilogy, in TLJ they never really won, just escaped. Each trilogy has a movie where the good guys DON’T win
Given that the Stormtroopers were the principle fighting force in conquering the galaxy, and that includes thousands of planets with billions of people, all with interstellar technology, spaceships, laser weapons, etc - including notable warrior cultures like the Mandalorians - the stormtroopers do something right: and it's probably not sheer numbers. There are a lot of pretty legitimate reasons why the stormtroopers might have poor aim: 1) 27% is actually not that shit for real combat accuracy. It's shit for a marksmen on a range, it's not that bad for a fighting force who are running and gunning and being shot at, and getting attacked by wizards and warlocks and shit. Their life is pretty fucked up, and actual armies are pretty lucky if they land 27% of their shots today so... cut them some slack: it's probably pretty fucking demoralizing to shoot at a dude who is casually deflecting fucking laser beams with a sword. Put them in a modern day firefight, and they'd probably appear to be a pretty elite fighting force. 2) Literal plot armor. Luke and Leia are the offspring of a force baby, and are themselves horrendously in-touch with the force. Part of the reason jedi/sith work at all running around with sticks in a world of automatic laser rifles, is that laser beams pretty consistently don't hit any jedi/sith. It stands to reason then, that it's probably just a lot harder to hit them in general - even when they aren't trained and aren't actively deflecting shots - because their instinct directly communes with the cosmic force around them (ex. someone starts shooting at them, and they dive left - not consciously realizing that had they dove in any other direction they would have been shot - because their force-sensitive instincts are hacks), and their willpower can invoke the world around them to do shit (so maybe you would have aimed correctly, but then your arm spasmed when you went to pull the trigger). So you probably miss while firing at force-sensitives more than you would while firing at anyone else anyways, even before they figure out how to wield a lightsaber - just because their will to survive is actively distorting reality around you. 3) Lots of cases, including the death star - where they may well have been ordered to not hit their targets - but corral them instead. This may even be standard practice when hunting force-sensitives - because shooting them is pretty impossible anyways - so as a stormtrooper you just need to corral them toward your friendly neighbourhood sith lord: and let the boss deal with it. 4) Movies don't work when the protagonist dies 20 minutes in to a stray rifle shot. The story of Luke Skywalker bleeding out in the streets of Mos Eisley, having never even left Tatooine, would be a pretty shitty sci-fi trilogy.
Re: 1) Luke even says in Ep 4 that he "Can't see a damn thing in this helmet!", so their combat effectiveness would've been hampered by this. Coupled with the fact that the Stormtrooper Rifle's accuracy sucks ass at any range beyond 50 feet, as anyone who's played Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight will no doubt attest to. Not disagreeing with you at all, just giving some other reasons as to why they might seem to have "poor aim".
I assumed that the "can't see a thing" was more like the size was wrong, or something like that. Like Luke needed a small helmet and trooper has a large, something like that. That's annoying enough with top-skull-only gear, I can only imagine what that would fit like on a full-head helmet.
Chozo Hunter this is probably legends but arent storm trooper helmets really high tech with 180 view different settings like night vision and thermal, and they would show you who ur enemy's are and who ur ally's are, but all this would deactivate if the helmet came of the troopers head and would need a password to get it working again
I thought luke only completed a small part of his training on dagobah when he fought darth vader, and went back there after he got beaten to complete his training...
In the novel for A New Hope I'm pretty certain there's a part on the falcon Obi-wan says to r2 something along the lines of it's good to fly with you again old friend. Han overhears this but Luke doesn't.
I always just assumed that Luke returned to Degobah to complete his training sometime between "The Empire Strikes back" and "Return of the Jedi." Which has to be true regardless since he is already presumably a Jedi at the beginning of the sixth movie and he wasn't at the end of the fifth, as Darth Vader so kindly pointed out.
A Jedi at the beginning? No, he was blowing smoke at Jaba's place.. He clearly says when Yoda is dying, "So i am a jedi..." to which Yoda replies.. " not yet" Pay closer attention.
Also, you're not allowed to "assume" what characters did off screen. People are getting all up the ass about the new films and say you shouldn't have to use books and other sources to get the full story but are the same people who refer back to books, comics, games to fill in the gaps about the original trilogy
@@RJrules64 but at least we see some justice for how irritating c3po is, like in episode V when he's torn limb from limb. I wish the same could have happened to jar jar
Stormtroopers hit their marks a bit less than 27% of the time? That's actually very good. There was an article in SWAT magazine last year that estimated that real world police and soldiers who are engaged in desperate gun fights only hit their mark about 18% of the time. It's one thing to shoot at a stationary target, but it's another thing when that target is shooting back at you from cover or concealment. Also, because of a thing called "plot armor", don't compare stormtroopers with the heroes of the story. Rather compare them to the Rebel soldiers. Rebel soldiers usually take a beating from stormtroopers. If you removed the heroes with their plot armor from the story, the attacks on the two Death Stars would have failed. And indeed the Rebels did lose the Battle of Hoth even with the heroes present. And consider that the Rebels did lose in Rogue One, but it was the heroes' mission to steal some information that was the only success. I'm not being "butt hurt" at all. Just presenting facts to consider.
Yeah I just read an interview with George Lucas in Rolling Stone dating back to just after the original Star Wars came out and he mentioned that he decided to kill off Obi Wan to show that there was a genuine threat with the DeathStar... like all the heroes can't be expected to just jump on board free the princess and escape unscathed. Guinness went along with it and actually the two of them came up with the whole force ghost thing afterwards - that wasn't just Lucas's idea.
I guess he hated that role because people will remember him for that role, and not great roles he had. It was just pop culture soap opera, not art masterpiece.
Well the gravity on the ships/space station could be false gravity and therefore intentionally perfect for them. Also, it’s possible that the reason that the planets they got to have the correct gravity is because those are the only ones they go to. There’s a reason so many of the planets they go to are actually moons of planets like the forest moon of Endor, the moon of mustifar, and several others.
scythe watch Hell, even the Rebels have better weapons against their enemies. The E-11 are more in CQB - still, the Stormtroopers can't aim for shit nor trying to at least aim.
In Rebels (the show) captain Rex says he can't see it if the helmet, so that might be why because once Rex took of he helmet he was a flawless shot, but with the helmet on he couldn't aim for shit.
scythe watch They shouldn't have had helmets then. Of course, it would've been hard to recognize because the helmets and suits pretty much represent your rank - and everyone are a Jango Fett clone, obviously.
The biggest problem is in "A New Hope," when the rebel base is hiding behind a planet. The Death Star must clear the planet in order to be able to destroy the moon with the rebel base on it. Except we've already seen that the Death Star can destroy a planet! Even if we assume the Death Star must recharge before it can fire at the moon, destroying the planet to which the moon is gravitationally attracted should cause some major problems for the rebels.
Just because the Death Star can destroy an entire planet does not mean it can destroy any planet. Yavin is a gas giant and it is quite concievable that it would be much harder to destory it than a rocky Earth-type planet. OK it is a good joke in "How Star Wars Should have Ended" but hardly the biggest problém.
The Empire was not in a dire rush to destroy the Rebel base. Tarkin was 100% certain the Rebels posed absolutely no threat to the Death Star, even mocking the suggestion to retreat, so he had no reason to do change any plans.
I could not agree more to say that Boba Fett is overrated Jango gets so much more screen time, and more actions. Boba is on screen for a few minutes...then in Return of the Jedi, dies without even fighting
where are the dark troopers in the originals? C3PO and R2D2 are shown on yavin 4 when the attack was about to take place but in episode 4 they are on leia's ship. If the death star plans were sent using a satellite why dont the rebels use the same form of communication instead of sending 2 droids.
A huge error: creating a new bunch of heroes without whom the destruction of Death Star would have been impossible. There is no mention of them in Episode IV, not even during the ending scene when Luke and Han receive medals for saving the Rebellion, not to mention Leia, who received the plans in the first place. And now the Alliance as a whole ended up being seen as huge assholes for not acknowledging the Rogue One crew, even though the fault obviously lies with creators behind "Rogue One" (which admittedly is a very good film, but sadly, it created a continuity snarl).
We haven´t seen any canon evidence of stormtroopers surviving being shot. In fact, the new movies prove the opposite if anything. Or are you suggesting that Han´s handblaster is more powerful than a blaster carbine?
An E11 blaster carbine would be stronger than hons pistol. The pistol is smaller, lightweight, and can be hidden better. There also is cannon evidence of Stormtroopers surviving. the expanded universe now known as legends, went into detail on basically everything, including stormtrooper armor. It's made of refined plant material commonly used in the construction of buildings and is designed to disperse the effect of being shot. Also there is no proof that they didn't survive. A claim made without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
Luke lost 66% of the battles he had with Darth Vader and lost his right hand, And almost lost the final battle, Which is something that defenders of Rey seem to ignore for some reason. I swear to God, you guys don’t want to acknowledge that fact. Rey was basically winning everything even before she was trained for a week. It’s OK if you like her, and Luke isn’t a perfect character either, but objectively speaking she is a poorly written character in the context of the films.
Willow Sparks but rey wins the fight in episode VII because kylo ren was practically really injured, making him vulnerable in which resulting for rey to win
Spider Plays win everything? she only had like 2 matches. rey won the fight in episode VII because kylo ren was practically super injured, making him vulnerable in which resulting for rey to win. In episode IX? kylo was distracted by his mother's call, putting his guard down, resulting for rey to win the fight again
yes, but him defeating a stormtrooper is better, and realistic, B/C he helps disarm General FUCKING Grevious. plus gungans vs the stormtroopers is far ore tolerable. (hell) the held their own agienst the driod army, PRE-CIS
I hate both, JarJar was there to bring some comedic reliev into a movie universe which was perfectly fine without that kind of crap. But at least he used modern weapons to fight the drones. But the Ewoks were worse - The rebellion was losing to those guys using x-wings, lasercanons and spaceships - and then some weird teddybeartribe defeats them with spears and hatchtes and some simple traps. Jar Jar was just annoying, but the Ewoks were almost breaking the franchise for me, so no - the Ewoks are worse.
okay i see your point. i think its a complicated issue the empire made a bit of a mistake in going on endor in the first place. cuz well in the radio drama han mentions 1)its the ewoks ambush and and 2)the ewoks terortory. and it was kind of estashlished the ewoks were capable of fighting and using weapons and were warriors. plus at first the ewoks were kind of losing at first. the empire was just not prepared for the type of organaization and ingunigty the ewoks had infact i doubt they were prepared for the ewoks period.
Alright. The opening scene in IV: Ten rebels are standing/kneeling in a corridor. They have no cover, and they are less than 10 feet away from you. You're telling me it will take 4 shots to kill every one? I could do that with a cheap nerf gun and not miss once.
Short answer is Yes. The Long answer is, that the blasters are short barreled. Which means that a little movement of the gun is going to direct the shot into a drastically different location. Guns that you do not shoulder (Putting the Butt of the gun between the shoulder and the chest) tend to only be accurate up to 10 to 15 feet. After you add in the gear that the Stormtroopers are wearing and the physical stress while trying to avoid being shot. The shot to hit ratio is not so far off.
Markus W I think Vader was under the impression that he had one child, and maybe detected Leia early. Since she was an organa he must not have felt the need to expose her
I just saw a video about weapons where they explained why the FBI switched from .40 S&W to 9 mm after a study that pointed out that most officers miss their target between 70 and 80 % of the times.... that is roughly the acuracy you mention the storm troppers have.
Matías Benedit except for that cop in North Carolina who shot Walter Scott 5 times in the back without missing? Not to forget the security guard who shot that church shooter in Texas, 1 shot straight to the head off a quick draw from 30 feet away?

I feel like everybody bashes the Ewoks without understanding the situation. The Ewoks, though primitive, are pretty good hunters, and the storm troopers didn't expect to be caught by surprise by them on ground that was familiar to them. It's kind of like the Native Americans fighting the settlers. If they tried to fight in open combat, they were usually defeated, but if they led you into an ambush, you were screwed.
I can defeat several teddy bears I just bite their faces off and snap their necks Or use my FUCKING KNIFE OR RIFLE Native Americans are humans you idiot! Ewoks are like children!
In the 70's women were not actively drafted into the military, you can see why this would carry on in a star wars theme. The dialogue is terrible but luckily we had Harrison Ford to alter things ;)
Nature is sexist. Nature made women smaller, weaker, and more emotionally fragile than men, which makes them far less suitable for combat. I would expect civilizations that are millions of years old to have already had their ridiculous politically correct / social justice warrior period eons ago, and now look back at it and laugh.
Well said dude. I was just about to write some thing similar. Sick of all this equal representation crap creeping into everything.. Women are not equally active in any fighting force on the planet. They're just not all that into doing press ups and shooting people in the face. Why would the future be any different.
But Human Civilization is only 7k years old Star Wars is AT LEAST 20k years old in DISNEY CANON! Star Wars doesn't have our stupid racist and sexist religions Star Wars is much more technologically advanced and progressive than us 15% of soldiers are women as of today Clearly, the Black Sheep thinks women deserve to be in the kitchen (It is one thing to state facts, another to show your bias against women)
Normally I’d never be this petty but since that was part of the point with your video... When you say “less than” 27% you are actually using a greater than symbol.
W J is right because the sign faces towards the bigger number and in this case the number not shown is portrayed as the bigger number when in reality he is saying at the same time that it is smaller than 27%
Actually hiding on Tatooine is the perfect place for Kenobi to hide. Vader/Anakins mom died on Tatooine and the planet constantly reminds him of his childhood where he literally was a slave and got beat. So Vader would never think to check there and would likely never want to return.
Any dictatorship relies on controlling the population. Vader could have sent spies to search his native planet. After all, Yoda hat the great idea of hiding the baby Luke Skywalker with his only family members left. Where does every police force in the world search for a fugitive? Right: first of all, at his home and among his relatives and friends. The baby Leia is adopted by a loyal to the Republic Senator (suspicious) whose wife was not pregnant and surprise surprise, they suddenly got a baby. Then Vader talks several times with Leia and does not feel that he is facing his own daughter... a mess.
Another question: Why would Vader search *anywhere* for a child that he *doesn't know exists* in the first place? He doesn't learn until some point between A New Hope and Empire that Luke is his son. It is never established that he knew prior to this that his son had survived in the first place.
I was 7 when New Hope came out. Boba Fett was popular because of the way his toy was marketed. Buy 10 figures, mail in the proof of purchase with a few bucks for shipping, and that was the ONLY way to get the action figure. All the kids HAD to have it. The hype was amazing...by the time ESB came out 5 years later...Boba Fetts character was never used, and he has been underrrated ever since.
I was 4 when ANH came out, and 5 or 6 when the Boba Fett figure was first sold. And yes, he was popular because mystery. Nobody knew who this guy was, all us kids knew is that he wasn't in the first movie but he had to be a badass to have an actual figure in spite of that, right? And so by the time ESB came out, Boba Fett had such a mystique about him that to see how he was actually used was a genuine letdown.
You forgot about how stupid rescuing Han from jabbas palace is. It's like Luke, leia and Lando all missed the staff meeting and we're like "fuck it, we'll improvise".
In regards to stormtrooper inaccuracy, in a real-world post-vietnam study into American troops' accuracy, they found that on average it took tens of thousands of shots fired to make on hit on a target. So really 27% is pretty good
Also take into account how many of those shots were taken to scare away an enemy, not to hit them, that and many of the combatants in Vietnam were not legitimate, they used non-uniformed civilians as front-line troops that mainly hid in the jungle and underground and had a nasty habit of torturing pows.
"It's just not particularly believable" that most of the characters in a story about two warring military factions are men? What world are you living in?
Yeah I don't think the real wars being fought at the time had that many women in them so you could say Lucas was just observing the world around him. Tbh it would've made sense for more rebels to women because it's a guerilla force fighting an empire that only trusts the judgment of men
I thought one of the silly things was that the Force was potrayed as genetic, but 5 of 6 Force users were male. Sex matters in war, but size matters not for Jedi. Is a frog-elf better at combat than a woman? I suppose men generally want power more than women, so it makes sense on the dark side, but not for the light, especially because women would default to the light if they didn't want power.
PaniosHangar and I don’t think it can be that sexist there might be only two main females but they are both powerful one was a princess of a whole fucking planet and the other was in charge of the reballion
Great video...whiteknightsjwcuck...hilarious! You obviously make excellent points, but honestly I love the franchise just as much as you, regardless of its shortcomings. Regarding Ewoks, I used to walk around barefoot in the backyard with my little brother, because we wanted to be Ewoks....childhood. Loved it. Thanks!
And than they bashing about the new movies. It never was perfect. Just enjoy the damn movies with all their flaws! It is not nitpicking anymore, it's just bitchpicking. #StopBitchpickingStarWars
Thank you. Yes TLJ has its problems, but it is no more ridiculus than a guy chasing a girl who just so happens to be his daughter. She sends a message that just so happens to reach her brother. Out everyone on that planet the droids go to her brother. Why did the ewaks even bring them to some random farm, why not a market at mos Isley. When luke sold his speeder he did not go to some random farm to sell he just sold at mos isley. Sorry that was ranty but there was an awful lot of stupidity in the original trilogy that people are not talking about. Instead we get everyone talking about the flaws in the last jedi and how it is destroying star wars
chris succee couple of things. TFA should have answered its own questions. Also this is not the last chapter in this trilogy arc so why cant there be unanswered questions. It is not that uncommon to have unanswered question when you are only about half way through a story. I do think that Leia poppins was poorly executed. But it was nice to see Leia use the force. Luke could use the force with very little training although it was quit easy for rey to do so much more with so much less. If rey could do why can't someone who is the daughter of the chosen one, could have been a back up hope if luke failed. Then the force is always changing depending on what the plot needed it to do in the original trilogy. You can call it mysterious but it also seems like it powers as it goes along. We go from mind tricks and guiding missiles, to it allowing you to shoot lightning from your hands. Point being yes it was flawed that leia could use the force, but it was already set up that the force was easy to use in this story. Now the dialogue. It is no more flawed than the original dialogue from the original series. From "I should have recognized your foul stench when I was brought on board" and "but I was going to tosche station to pick up some power converters!!! >:(!!!!" and "I don't know where you get your delusions from laser brain!" That one got a laugh out of chewie, you kidding me, that sounds like an insult a five year old would come up with. Now onto poe. Yes it was a problem that admrial hodo did not tell her plans to poe, its definitely a personality flaw. But why would she, would you really tell a plan to a guy who just got demoted and bitch slapped after his lack of thinking caused dozens of death. But I still find flaws in the original trilogy. Like why did Leia still go to the hidden rebel base if she knew she was being tracked. Still do not get why people are so upset about Luke. Hell he is a much more interesting character now than he was in the original trilogy. Like they talk a lot in the original Trilogy that Luke could be turned but the story mostly says that instead of showing it. Here we actually do see Luke give into fear for a fleeting moment. Then he goes all Lawrence of arbia and that scares him. Why can't he be a flawed character, that creates a much more interesting story than Luke never changing over 40 years and him being a perfect man with no flaws at all.
chris succee So what if a new force power is establish without it being used before? That's been happening in Star Wars since the originals. When was it established that you could use the force to grab your saber before empire? When was the force push established before Phantom Menace- Luke certainly could have used it? Admiral Holdo doesn't tell Poe the plan because in the beginning of the film, he got his squad killed and couldn't be trusted according to her. Luke has changed, he's a depressed and broken failure. He's not incompetent, and he's not wasted at all. The dialogue is no where near as bad as the first six films. While I currently don't know why Luke did make the map, there is likely going to be a reason that comes out- maybe in a comic or something.
chris succee just wait for Episode IX. By the way Luke mentioned the Knights Of Ren. He said that Ben/Kylo Ren took a handfull of Lukes students with him and killed the rest. I think it's not time for the Knights Of Ren to show up.
I don't think anyone who always points out how bad the stormtroopers aim was actually looked at real war statistics. In Vietnam, the average US soldier expended 200,000 rounds of ammunition for every kill. In Korea, it was about 100,000 rounds. Point is, when you have a draft people and lots of those people don't want to be there you aren't all going to be top marksman. I would say that the stormtroopers from the original trilogy are on par for real data.
In vietnam the stand soldier fired about 10000 rounds per kill to strom troppers still have a massive skill level boost over the american army.. True fact that btw. Normal 10000 to 1 Sniper 1.3 to 1 Yep the more you know...
Awesome vid! Thank you. I saw New Hope debut when I was age 8 or 9. By the time Return-Jedi was released, though, it seemed Star Wars had become a franchise struggling to attract everybody: children, adults, old, young, just everybody. Hence, characters like the Ewoks, Jar-jar Binks, & cutesy droids. To me, only New Hope and Empire Strikes Back are dramatic, serious, adultish scripts. After that, its like Lucas is hell-bent on competing with Disney. Phantom Menace, etc. especially was disappointing. I was hoping for an intricate dramatic well- woven story of betrayal, romance, real loss, and a true arc of what it meant for Anakin to go to the dark side and it just wasn't there.
i think their equipment was what made most people like them. just a shame most of their feats are not even shown in the movies. we are just being told "hey, this guy is an amazing bounty hunter. you better watch out" with little to back it up. at least jango was shown being able to fend off an attack from obi-wan (who is one of the most powerful jedi in the series)
Boba got hype for just looking and sounding bad ass, which was all you needed in the early 80s. Kids fought over Boba Fett action figures based on the 10 seconds he appeared in Empire. Because he wasn't really defined, kids could imagine him doing all kinds of cool shit, and we did. The kids of the 80s were chomping at the bit for more Star Wars, so action figures filled in until Jedi came along and crushed our dreams with Boba's last, pathetic performance. And...Jango....ugh...the prequels...I can't defend anything in the prequels.
Boba was really cool and we needed the ExU to show this sadly. His death scene seems like sloppy writing/planning not unlike the death of General Grievous (ton of lore and backstory completely ignored in the film for a quick lazily written death and lots of CG ). This is made worse, certainly for a person that known throughout a galaxy as a truly dangerous dude! Even his posture and tone are different than how others might interact with Vader. Average people probably would not just argue with someone with the status, reputation and power that Darth Vader has. Boba would believe/plan in advance a conflict or escape if needed with someone like Darth Vader. Furthermore having non-jedi or sith provides the universe with a way to counter the all powerful characters. The SW Universe without people that could use gear and training to overcome a jedi becomes more shallow and subsequently the Jedi/Sith become that kid that has an invisible laser shield, and time control, and laser shield piercing damping field, and mind control and you get the idea. Of course with all that said this is reading a lot into the characters, it would be nice if they spent more time on the franchise for characters like this.
The sequel trilogy actively throws the canon to the curb and writes whatever they feel like. People can complain about the prequels, but at least they stayed within canon.
Cause they don't like the EU. Out of their own laziness they didn't read up on the EU, so when the prequels came round and were filled to the brim with EU, their head canon was shattered, making them just confused and angry. They thought they were Star Wars fans (Obviously not enough to do some light reading from 1988-1998.) but then the prequels came in and showed them they actually weren't. So rather than just go catch up, which with the internet takes about a weekend, they instead violently oppose the prequels. They'd rather pretend there weren't any, then they could go back to thinking they know everything about Star Wars and their head canon would be secured.
FredrickTesla Where does someone like me fit in that scenario? I don't like the prequels but only came to watch and enjoy the OT years after the prequels had been released. In fact the only Star Wars movie I saw prior to turning 30 was TPM which I fell asleep in the theater trying to watch. I knew enough about the prequels when I finally did watch them that I certainly had no head canon going in and yet I still didn't like the prequels as a whole. Personally I think most of the ideas behind the prequels were great but the execution of them wasn't. Instead of a trilogy that feels like it could easily flow into the original trilogy we ended up with something that just doesn't quite seem to fit into the Star Wars universe the OT set up. But I might could overlook that if in addition parts of the dialogue and Jar Jar didn't make me want to poke my own eyes out. But, I still acknowledge Episodes I-III as part of Star Wars and admit there are good parts to them. I don't know that I want them redone entirely but it would be nice if something could be done so that the weaknesses are downplayed and the strengths they have could shine through.
I doubt the Empire would be foolish enough to build their Death Star 2 shield generator on a planet full of wookies. They likely built it on Endor because Ewoks didn’t appear all that threatening
Yup. That's why I wasn't too surprised by how bad The Phantom Menace turned out to be, when I saw it in the theater in 99. I remembered how disappointed I was with Return of the Jedi when I saw it in 83, so I just accepted the Phantom Menace as a natural progression of the downfall of the Star Wars saga.
As the creator, scriptwriter, and director said... they are “ movies for 12 year olds”. It’s meant to be escapism, and just a fun time. because you want to take it super seriously and expect perfection out of a film doesn’t mean they are terrible, or the franchise declined, it means it’s not what you wanted it to be, and you’re mad because it didn’t turn out how you wanted. All the films are just films. A New Hope had terrible writing, as did Empire Strikes Back. They all share the same issues. The prequels were meant to tell a story of politics and tyrannical overthrow, as well as how the Jedi became too arrogant thinking they were a force of good. The story was told very well. Quit being a bunch of little kids, and grow up.
Fett had a jet pack but wore a cape as well. So either that cape caught fire every time he use the pack or his tailor wanted him to have a too, too faaaaaabulous fireproof cape to protect his too, too faaaaaapulous ass from flaming at the wrong times, gurlfrien'.
Since the video directly mentioned retcons, I'm surprised there was no mention that Darth Vader was retconned to be Anakin Skywalker. That set off a huge chain of events affecting the original and prequel trilogies. You get weird dialogue about "a certain point of view," the original dialogue between the Emperor and Vader in The Empire Strikes Back no longer sounded natural and was redone for the BluRays (and really, the new dialogue isn't a great improvement, either), and the problem stated in the video about Obi-Wan being terrible at hiding is all because Anakin and Vader are the same guy. I love the OT, but I have to accept that the retcon isn't perfectly executed.
Prequels: Had quite a lot of mistakes, had some bad dialogue, had a few good scenes Audience: Shit The Force Awakens: Had a few mistakes, vastly superior dialogue to any of the previous movies, awesome scenes, lots of fan service Audience: Shit Original Trilogy: Had a few mistakes, sometimes cheesy dialogue but for the most part decent, awesome scenes, owns some of the most iconic things in cinema history Audience: Would make up any excuse for the few mistakes that's probably a really shit excuse anyways just so we can stay convinced that they're all perfect movies and if it's not set in the OT era it's probably shit.
TOBLERONE TUBE The biggest issue with Force awakens is it's plot - it's like watching a new hope remastered. People hate the idea of the Starkiller base for some reason, too. I think it was a very cool idea, the only problem being the copied plot
I don't have a problem with the plot, and they obviously didn't just copy the plot. I mean it's not like JJ said "let's just copy the plot of A New Hope and hope no one notices", they did it for people to pick up on, I think that's cool.
TOBLERONE TUBE Bullshit, the Original Trilogy is some of the best movies ever made. The Phantom Menace was an above average movie, but not as good as the original 3, and it also had a very different tone than the originals, which took people aback. Attack of the Clones did a ton right, but unfortunately all people ever focus on is a few minutes of bad dialogue between Anakin and Padme and ignore the rest of the movie as it develops. Revenge of the Sith is objectively the best movie of the saga, though Empire and Jedi come close. Every single scene in the movie is absolutely beautiful and complex on so many levels. Everything we love about the clone wars came from Revenge of the Sith. Best Space Battle. Best and Most light saber duels. Most emotional scenes (order 66 and Anakin v obi-wan) Characters are written well and acted extremely well. Everything is perfect and meticulously made. The Force Awakens--shits on pre-established EU events, but even then ignoring the EU it still absolutely ruins the characters of Luke, Han, and Leia. If every single scene of Revenge of the Sith is perfection, then every single scene on Force Awakens was cringeworthy. More plotholes than Stormtroopers on the Death Star. Speaking of the Death Star, the Force Awakens copies it, just like it copies everything else in A New Hope. At least I can say Attack of the Clones had some bad writing because it had writing at all. Force Awakens doesn't have ANY writing given to its new characters or factions. Find the crappiest fan film you can on RU-vid, and it will already be far superior to Force Awakens. No, scratch that, literally ANY movie is better because Force Awakens is so bad it is one of if not the worst movie of all time.
I like how people shit on prequels for a couple of bad dialogs, but are trying to ignore, how TFA has 0% creativity and 100% fan-service. Also "Vastly superior dialogue"??? "Now Im in charge, Phasma, im in charge!!!" "Mister Solo" "So who talks first, I talk first, you talk first?" "Prpr the weapon" and some stupid american memes from 2013 dont agree with you. TFA doesnt feel like a movie in another universe, it feels like typical american action-movie with typical american humor and Star Wars references to cover it up. Thats why americans are praising it to the skies with 94% reviews, but in other countries it is rated as the worst SW movie.
In Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker as a move of pure fan service, Chewie finally got his medal, or rather Han's medal, after Leia's death. The passage of time in Empire was always puzzling. As you mentioned, Luke's training on Dagobah was presented as simultaneous to the Falcon's escape from the Empire after fleeing Hoth. How long did it actually take for Han to get to Bespin. How much time actually took place?
Obi wan lived on a hill surrounded by sand. Even if he had a sign that said "come get me yoi legless bastard" and Vader would still be too scared to try anything
