The only shows I watched beyond episode one were Terra Nova and Heroes Reborn, and while I regret watching Heroes Reborn, I don’t regret watching Terra Nova.
The main issue with Terra Nova was the writing and direction. It felt like someone went into the pitch meeting with the equivalent of a 5th grader's book report based on reading the back cover synopsis. Great concept that had no actual plan of action to implement.
@@zerogrey3798 if i recall it was cancelled because it just cost too much money at least that's what i heard anyways. i never watched it though. i'd say the one that pissed me off the most would be Twin Peaks
Not to rant on Marvel any longer, but how could you forget the Much Over-hyped series, 'Marvel's Inhumans?' Staring Black Bolt who couldn't speak and Medusa without the hair sounds like a surefire hit in the making.
Not really. Inhumans was only made because Marvel didn't have the onscreen rights to the X-Men at the time. Marvel kept trying to push the Inhumans, but a lot of people didn't care. Pretty much everyone knew Inhumans would be bad from the first trailer. Defenders was built up to across five seasons of four shows, and while Iron Fist was bad, people were far more hyped for it than Inhumans. Inhumans was worse but Defenders was more disappointing
The stupidest thing about Inhumans was they expected us to like the slave owning royals and dislike the guy rebelling against them. This is ontop of them being unlikable dicks in the first place.
It was so obvious how they shaved Medusa to save money on CGI, but that made her character pointless. And I love how they thought it was worth filming in IMAX That was pure hubris.
I lived in Eugene from 2006 thru 2008. Had a Blockbuster right next to my apartment building. It was wonderful. Until somebody told me about Netflix.....
I love "Terra Nova", "Heroes Reborn", "Blockbuster", "The Defenders", "Secret Invasion" and "The Idol" - and I regret NOTHING. Well... technically I regret watching some of them, but not for the mentioned reasons... The reason is that some of these shows end on cliffhanges (some fairly major ones) and I will never get to see them continue... And "overhyped" is THE key word here: Whoever overhyped these shows doomed them. People got too high expectations and when the shows couldn't fulfill them, they were disappointed. Without the overhype, at least some, if not all, of these shows would've been received way better. Especially when it's a sequel (e.g. Heroes Reborn) or a follow-up/tie-in (e.g. The Defenders). I haven't seen the others.
I would have loved it if most tv shows that ends on cliffhangers would at least be able to release a comic that sort of ties it up. This shouldn't be too expensive, and I guess there's enough fans of almost any show that would easily enough cover the cost
While i don't remember the article name, it said that Rhodes was replaced by the skrulls after his back injury in Captain America Civil War. Meaning all that Avenger Infinity War and Endgame were the alien
It's a little misrepresentation to say the Neftlix shows did anything than happen to show up at the same time. MCU wasn't really a thing back then and had no real plan like it did in the late 20-teens. As a medium it was meant to tell the story of the street level heroes from the comics, while the movies showed the big names. The Defenders were always talked about, but after years of individual shows they kind of just bleh'd the implementation of it. It would have been a much tighter concept to have the intro series for Luke Cage/DD/JJones all run at the same time, then go Defenders when they meet the Iron Fist and Punisher.
I loved the ACTUAL Defenders in the comics. Nighthawk, Doctor Strange, Prince Namor, the Hulk, Hellcat, Valkyrie... Congrats Disney/Marvel/Netflix, you made a Defenders show without getting a single character in their roster in the show.
@@futurestoryteller Haha valid .I thought First 4 eps were awful last 4 got better. Though the question was about regret. Only don't regret it for the jessica & matt, jessica/Luke chemisty and group fight scene.
I liked the Defenders. It was fun. These were the street level Avengers. The stakes weren't meant to be world ending. I actually watched the entire series twice.
Honestly, I enjoyed "The Defenders," but, to me, it ultimately fell short because of one major character: Iron Fist. He was boring in his own show and he was boring here. If he is introduced into the MCU, I really hope they recast him and make his character more interesting and gritty!
I thought the whole series was garbage especially the plot, but I stuck it out cuz I kinda sorta needed to see what happened with these characters. I was disappointed.
The Defenders was a limited series. It was only supposed to be a one off. The Marvel series of Daredevil, Punisher, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage were pulled because the license lapsed and reverted back to Disney/Marvel studios.
The Crazy Ones was a delight. I was really disappointed that it didn't run longer. And with the lens of hindsight, it's really sad we didn't get more Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar riffing with each other. They had great chemistry.
@@dhenderson1810 It was hinted at, but the major factor seems to have been the neurological illness he was suffering from that led to severe dementia. His wife has said that he was no longer really himself and was often badly confused.
I never thought Girlboss was supposed to be more than one season considering it was a loose biography and had basically told the entire story. Blockbuster was pretty good actually.
Terra Nova. Go watch the pilot and the last episode and enjoy it. The actual episodes sucked, but all the money they put into the first and last episodes is worth it.
I would put Heroes here instead of Heroes Reborn. I found we spent a whole season to get the cast together, save the world then nothing. I don't regret watching anything on this list I saw but would I watch them again, no.
I liked The Crazy Ones and thought Williams did a great job. Yes, he was his typical crazy, but this was an advertising agency. Have you seen the ads today ?? The Crazy Ones deserved more time.
Schitts creek is basically budget arrested development imo. Couldn't get as into it as everyone else seems. Just seemed like a dumbed down version of AD.
I thought I would get through the entire list without having watched a single show, but Secret Invasion got me, that said there have been enough Disney+ flops by that time that it really wasn't hyped for me.
1:39 Or maybe the portrayal was ACCURATE, and that's why the term "girlboss" is mostly used to denigrate and not praise. 2:33 Again, what were you expecting? "Adult animation" is rarely that clever. 10:30 Well, there's the thing. In the comics, it was a line-wide event for Marvel, with no one knowing which hero was a Skrull and for how long. On TV, it was a pedestrian who's-who mystery with no heroes outside of a worn-out Nick Fury and Rhody. For Secret Invasion to have really worked, it should have been a couple of Avengers movies.
The Defenders suffered for a stupid stupid stupid villain, and being dependent on the iron fister. Zombie ninja death culte searching for a mcguffin is just dumb.
Only show on this list I ever remember hearing of is The Crazy Ones. And while it wasn't the best thing I'd ever seen Robin Williams do, I would say I regret watching it. It wasn't a good show but neither was it The Medusa Touch or The Blair Witch Project. Those movies I genuinely regret ever having seen. The Crazy Ones was just a show that looked better on paper than it was on screen.
Fully agree about the Defenders. Don't build up and not deliver. That's not an unrealistic expectation, if you've made cool s*** before, you can make cool s*** again.
I remember enjoying Tera Nova, the Defenders and Marco Polo: hundred eyes(wish that would've been the series). Blockbuster should have been set in the 90s or 2010
Huh, I liked Terra Nova. There was a great setup, and the background was starting to develop as they canceled it. They should have maybe hinted more at the characters' reasons for what they do a tad earlier. Defenders was actually pretty good, but Iron Fist ... not giving the actor enough time to train (or not picking an actor experienced in martial arts for a super martial artist character) beside filming just killed the momentum of every fight scene he was in.
You know, with Secret Invasion, if there was something like issues with Rhodey's actor and going back to the one from the first Iron Man movie, that could have been an interesting plot twist there
I dunno, I thoroughly enjoyed Marco Polo and have zero regrets having watched it. Really enjoyed Terra Nova as well, even if it was kinda obvious it was doomed pretty early on.
I genuinly miss terra nova the same way I miss Eureka :/ Cant really rewatch them because I rather have the Nostalgia then realising how bad it actually was
Wow, not only did I not watch a single episode of any of these series... I have never heard of any of them. Guess I'm living under a rock. I think I'll stay there...
Two obvious omissions. One that was touted as good but which was a huge pile of manure in terms of scriptwriting and acting was: La Brea. Watch it and see if you can spot a line of dialogue that isn't either clunky or unadulterated exposition. The other is one that wasn't a terrible show, but which was sold to me as the greatest tv show of all time that was tragically cut short. I am of course referring to the Star Trek meets Red Dead Redemption show that was Firefly. It was just a bit 'meh'.
@@kevied88 wow awesome there is other people who liked it , it wasn't the best show ever made or anything but I felt like it had alot of potential and found it really funny
Heroes was pure shit: "Who is going to catch Sylar THIS week, but have some lame reason for not killing the biggest threat out there?" I really wanted to like Blockbuster but a declining store with 5 employees??
Blockbuster was doomed from the start. They could've had it set during its heyday, but did the stupid thing and set it closer to the modern day, and that just killed any nostalgia interest before it even got off the ground. I am still sad that Defenders didn't get any more to it than it did. It had the potential to go places, but just ended up being a beat-em-up series.
marco polo was one of worlds best conmen claims he went to China but totally forget to mention that big wall around the country and that they use 2 wooden stick to eat food
Fear the Walking Dead should be on this list, that show was horrible. Smoke coming out of every bush for no reason. And if it wasn't coming out of bushes, it was the entire background of the set. It's almost like smoke and fog was one of the characters. The later seasons were particularly bad.
Blockbuster should have been set in the 90’s. There could have been such a fun nostalgic factor. The Idol is one of the worst shows EVER! It was cringe, disgusting, and arrogant in the most laughable way possible. I’m not a Euphoria fan but Sam Levinson pushed back his hit shows next season for that trash….arrogance is a hell of a drug
About most of these it would only just be an exaggeration to say I never once heard of them. For the ones I have actually watched, either the subject or the reaction is not described accurately in the video. Like with most things Marco Polo was described by media outlets as a rip off of (surprise, surprise) Game of Thrones, quite a few shows had been slandered in this way, (Black Sails) and people complained that its title character was the least interesting part. Which was true. Whether or not the criticisms were fair, nobody said Season 2 was an improvement at the time, maybe you got this from Rotten Tomato scores. Idk. Heroes was famously only good for one season, and nobody was hyped for Reborn. People exaggerated how bad it was after release, being much better than most seasons of Heroes, but obviously failing to live up to the quality of its first season's high bar. It makes perfect sense for Defenders to have the lowest viewership. There is always runoff. Each show is going to have solo fans, and fans who watch them all. Defenders is only for people who watched them all. Post Defenders was like being in an alternate universe because the most common reaction was actually "It's GREAT!" at the time. Even though it was objectively *terrible.* Not mediocre. Terrible.
Lost! I still hate the ending, which made me feel cheated. I felt like I had been watching all kind of adventures and stories that hadn’t happened. So that was a six year long waste of time.
