Agree! I love Destiny Islands. And we could only explore it in KH1, and a bit of Re Chain, but it did not feel the same in Re Chain of Memories. So yeah we do need it!
I was so convinced we were going to be able to go there as a World in Kingdom Hearts 3 I guess it was just my own expectations I set up and I was pretty disappointed when it wasn't
Tbh the Twilight Town Beach is definitely a top pick for me too. Every time I play this prologue I always have the tiniest hope maybe this time, we'll get to go to the beach...
One thing that makes me sad is that we never got to explore the Data Twilight Town in KH3. Such a tease! I can even imagine what the scenario would be like. You go in and immediately see that it's the Twilight Town from KH2 (same graphics and everything). But instead of loading zones, you take the Backdoors from Re: Coded to explore the Town's data-scape to travel between the rooms of the world. Once you make it to the main part of town, you see the NPC glitching all over the place so it becomes the priority to restore the Town's data and see what you can find about Roxas and maybe even some of Ansem the Wise's research.
I'm beginning to wonder if the world that never was is more of a world that has yet to be. In dark road I believe it's explained that worlds are created and pass through time at different rates, and I imagine people are likely the last thing to form in a world. could be that the nobodies just showed up, looked around at the empty city, decided to build a castle, and at some point crashed a truck or three
Since the Darknesses were revealed to be invisible I had a silly thought/theory that they might have actually been living in Dark City this whole time. Nomura pulled some crazy stuff with Castle Oblivion there's no way he can resist something crazy with Dark City.
Nah, I'm right there with you. We need to visit Destiny Island's mainland. I wanna see Sora reunite with the original crew there and see how they're doing.
No joke, seeing mainland Destiny Islands back when I first played KHII, even if it was just for a second, was so hype for me. It made the game world feel more organic and bigger in a way. I would really love the chance to explore it one day.
You call yourself a kingdom hearts boomer and yet forget to mention that beasts castle was also in the realm of darkness during the time of 0.2. For shame. It would have been pretty cool to see a place the player recognized but Aqua didn't in that game.
Predictably, Villain's Vale is the area I'd most want to explore. It has such a cool witchy aesthetic to it, and even though Maleficent considers it a hovel, I'd still be interested to know what's she done with the place or how she got it.
RoD in 0.2 pre-mickey is actually what made the game my 2nd favorite (first is CoM GBA). I love how it presented itself and it made me want to experience more of what it had to offer. It was a fantastic example of "show don't tell" and I think it would have been nice to see how dilapidated or just eerily empty the inside of Cinderella Castle and Sleeping Beauty Castle were.
About the Dark Worlds one, you forgot to mention Beast's Castle as his world fell to darkness, along with the Pride Lands, Land of Dragons, Dwarf Woodlands, Castle of Dreams, Enchanted Domain and Destiny Islands. And you forgot to mention Prankster's Paradise (Jiminy's home world) and the World where the 101 Dalmatians came from.
I wanna visit Destiny Islands, The World That Never Was, new and improved Traverse Town, (Full) Twilight Town. I know it might seem unlikely but just the thought of it makes me think how cool it would be. (Main Line Game though)
Your description of the realm of darkness in 0.2 made me much more appreciative of how they portrayed the place in that game. Sinister inversions of their realm of light counterparts. Spooky. Stay well out there everybody, and Jesus Christ be with you friends.😊
Okay I really LOVE that you clipped through the hotel room with the camera. Glitches and out of bounds are my favorite things to discover- I probably spend more time trying to find ways (without hacking) seeing if I can get out of bounds in video games than playing the game itself. It seems like im discovering SO much more to the game. I had no idea the outside and inside of the hotel was in the same load bracket
Shipwreck Cove not being in KH3 was the biggest betrayal of all and more with those in-game "hints", anyways great video! Hopefully we'll be seeing more of these areas in the future!
Another amazing video man! I’ve always wanted more Twilight Town since it’s my favorite world in the series. Especially in KH3 I was disappointed with not being able to see all of it; same goes for the Mysterious Tower and Radiant Garden, I wish we could see all of their glory especially with KH3 graphics😔
THE sultan actually appears in the Kingdom Hearts Manga Adaptation illustrated by Shiro Amano. Also I feel like the only one Who Notices that Kingdom Hearts II pays Heavy Homage to the Scify Classic Dark City . Also I would Love if a Kingdom Hearts III FINAL MIX includes allowed full would exploration and New Worlds and CUTSCENES to Explore
I've seen theories that Quadratum (mentioned in Melody of Memory) is an alternate timeline's version of the World that Never Was. basically, the World that Never Was would be what remained of Quadratum after it fell to darkness, trapped in a void of nonexistence (which fits with it being technically a sleeping world, see DDD, as well as a fictional world, see MoM). there are a few variants of this theory, my personal thoughts are that we don't know enough about Quadratum and not-Shibuya yet to say anything but I like the theory.
I was very displeased with kh3 story and worlds, For what it felt to me, Nomura wanted to close too many stories at the same time Thw worlds were indeed bigger and more open world but not as detailed as kh1 worlds(hell no other kh has so much details and hidden mechanics into it) There is so much they teased/didn't have the time and resources to include I wish we could have explored all the radiant Garden citadel and the restored insides of ansem's lab I wanted to explore all of twilight town and not only the main plaza Kh3 lacked a main original world to explore throughout
Random thing about KH3's Caribbean.. what really messes with me is the end of that story section is like.. the exact time you get full freedom of the world.. but to me I always am like "okay we gotta travel a bit" and then "lol no you at the end" when all the other worlds it feels like you had chance to explore as you went and eventually get to what you need to, but KH3 Caribbean is like "here's all the freedom at the end" ... my ship was not upgraded enough for the battle to just get into the place with Kracken... so felt like I was being forced to explore just so i can do the story.. Arendelle.. oh ya that would of been cool, closest was the.. uhh... magical world that Rapunzel comes from.. Sadly if another Frozen world is made.. would be Frozen 2 which again wouldn't involve Arendelle.. but at least the forest could be cool we rarely get nature-y areas.. TWTNW I just realized.. the Castle floats in a random giant pit that.. had obvious breaks on the side like something was sitting there and then got raised or something (the Castle isn't big enough I think to full the gap though) so.. what was there? Oh ya Galaxy Toys was great idea of taking just concept of a movie but doing something that more easily was KH :P I want more worlds like that, I get earlier games they probably would of had harder times doing original ideas and had to do "make movie but playable" essentially.. imagine.. uhh.. actually I have no idea.. One fun not used idea is... Cars.. I would be curious how gameplay would change in a world like that..
I always thought it was strange just how many places there are in Kingdom Hearts that we can't visit or see, such a huge tease for the devs to go to the effort and fully texture and even model the exterior of these locations just for set dressing or cutscenes. Traverse Town especially made me realize how little we get to explore interior locations in worlds like buildings and that's something I'm hoping we can see more of in KH4.
Part of me wants to say, it'd be cute if Kingdom Hearts was basically a weird Disney Land/World? It's "the heart of all worlds" in this Disney-based universe, and the naming scheme of the Magic Kingdom and such is what inspired the name of Kingdom Hearts, so...
All of these locations are great picks and I'm sure there are so many more places we could've been able to see if it was possible. I particularly like what you said about Galaxy Toys, namely the "idea of [world]" cuz it feels like Disney was never really on that page with most of their worlds and instead opted to go "Hey remember this place?!!" it would be super cool to see more original areas in Disney worlds, rather than going through the movies again thh . Though that's probably not gonna happen cuz Yozora and "Unreality" is the cool new thing to hype up now 😔
Twilight town is bigger than we think, and the battle arenas in CoM and Re:CoM are possibly part of the real Twilight Town but in a different location of it.
I want to believe and this is my personal head cannon. I feel like Kingdom Hearts (the place) is a resting place. A place of final respite for the final journey of life. But also a place for a sort of higher being to sleep. Sort of like a Garden of Eden or Heaven itself.
@@Nelkami That place seems more like a purgatory to me. A waiting room for those not quite there yet. Also people go there waaaaaaaay too many times for it to be heaven as far as I see it.
In bbs there was that area in radiant garden, the outskirts or something I believe right before you go into that underground area where you fight Braig with three or four gates. Would be interested to see what is beyond those gates...
The woods beyond Beast's Castle is in KH Union, though not in 3D. Same with the throne room in Agrabah. I believe that the reason why Kairi stayed in there is that they could easily just....put her back in there if she tried to escape. The roots in the room were caused by Maleficient. And the room with the pods are a Time Travel room.
5:00 we do know that Roxas and xion have been to that beach as they leave shells for the other when they are unconscious (or were those shells from destiny island I forget).
FYI Cinderella 3 is so much better the the first and second films. It has more action, the villain has power, and. Cinderella is one who is willing to fight for what's right.
Not an area/world but I want them to explore more with anti/rage form and have more of an in depth understanding of what it is and why no one talks about it in game
One of the best parts of Dream Drop Distance was getting more of Traverse Town to explore. I want to explore Shibuya. Can you imagine all the Flow Motion shit you can do there?
I always wanted to see more of the Land of Departure. All we've ever really seen was the big grand throne room where all the plot happens and Ven's room briefly. But I always wanted more. I want to see Terra or Aqua's rooms, explore all the hallways, etc. The place is huge on the outside. I was really hoping we'd finally get to explore it in more depth in KH3 when you get to run around inside briefly as Sora. But nope. It's just a hallway that leads straight to the Vanitas fight and that's it.
I still wonder, what exactly is that giant grassy field during the epilogue of the original Kingdom Hearts? My only guess is that Birth By Sleep retconned it into being the Land of Departure, and that Sora "returned" to it when he restored the worlds because his heart was holding Ventus's heart. It would explain how Sora got from there to Castle Oblivion on foot without any transportation methods. It wouldn't really explain why Donald, Goofy, and Pluto got sent there as well though. The reason it still looks so pleasant could probably be handwaved away as only the castle and the immediate surrounding areas being transformed into Castle Oblivion, not the entire world. Another possible explanation, one that was probably the case back before any sequels were made, is that the grassy field is a neutral world like Traverse Town; One where hearts that don't have a home drift towards. Because of all of Sora, Donald, and Goofy's adventuring throughout all the different worlds, they no longer had a home world and just got plopped down in whatever world the grassy field is supposed to be. Oh yeah, Pluto was also carrying a letter from Mickey during the epilogue of the original Kingdom Hearts, and we never actually got to read it!
That's a tantalizing mystery the movie left us with, too... Since there's no source material to work with, it would be a very long shot for us to get any of that. But, it would be pretty amazing, if it happened :D
Ooh! The Caribbean is my favorite world in kh3 and my favorite movie got a world in kh3. Sorry Kingdom of Corona ;; The Caribbean is just so so pretty, the story from the world too made me want to watch the movies but I havent gotten around to it.
After seeing Kairi and Selphie in school uniforms, I'd like to see more slice of life stuff from the games' original worlds. What do the school uniforms in Radiant Garden and Twilight Town look like?
I think a game about Kairi running around the worlds dealing with some external threat that has nothing to do with Ansem the wise would be fun. Introduce a side villain. Have a smaller battle with lower stakes with the goal of Kairi becoming a better key blade wielder with no pressure or ridiculous plot elements. a classic story will do., in this game we would go back to destiny Islands and traverse town and we would be introduced to more custom worlds with different significant and the game could be more exploratory, Party members would be world specific, you go to twilight town you get Roxas and Xion, you go to Hollow bastion, you get Namina and some of Ansams students. when you go to disney worlds you get Disney characters, when you go the ff worlds you get FF Characters, be creative, make an area where you are fighting Garland from FF1 with the warriors of Light, and fight Chaos at the End. brake with convention a little. have the plot focus of lore development. have the bad Guy lead to lore about the world in the time between the X-blade wars and Now. instead of front loading it to us in the next big game. foreshadow smaller threats to deal with. have Kairi search for her missing memories or something. that was a plot point they had in KH1 forgot about for several years and them brought it back in KH3, explore that a little. that would give us an excuse to explore Destiny islands, Hollow Bastion, potentially other worlds, where do the Princesses of Heart come from? its been thousands of years, are they reincarnated? or does there light move from person to person over time? there are some unanswered questions that don't require a huge epic adventure to explore.
Re: Shipwreck Cove, I thiiiiink we ended up there in KH2 when the ship crashed? But we didn't get to see a lot, and it was full of Heartless and not much else.
wait, if we encountered Bambi's world in the Realm of Darkness... I have a few hypotheticals. first, would Aqua disguise herself as a deer to explore? second, would the animals from Bambi's forest become Heartless? and third, if the answer to the second question is yes, would Bambi's mom be a heartless?
they should of added the mainland of destiny island when they re-released KH1. i mean they had to remake the game anyway so might as well retcon in the mainland that you can CLEARLY SEE is no more than a mile away from the islands beach.
I just want to be able to travel to the edge of any world. What does it look like? Do the people of that world even know that the edge exists? Does it just wrap around?
Since you liked that bug's life game and have nostalgia for it and you like the idea of toy story world where you can walk around indoors, I wonder if you played the toy story 2 game for the ps1, I loved that game, and kinda wish the kh3 world was more similar to it, it had awesome level design. Check it out if you haven't :)
7:11 Some developer put that there as their own little secret that only they knew... ...and now, you've shown their handiwork to the world. I'm not sure if this is a travesty or giving true credit to where it's due...
Go to the link in the description, that website has all the map files. Unfortunately some lighting/moving models are missing so I'm still hoping for freecam mods on PC
3:51 We can go to that room. The blocked door leads to the tech room underneath the library where the floor disappears. The other side of the door is even in there.
It lines up. It lines up, holy shit. You're right. Thanks for this bud. It reminds me of Bloodborne's unopenable door at the end of the Cleric Beast bridge that actually connects to an underground room in Cathedral Ward later in the game. Still can't open it from that side either.
You reminded me of a dream I had once. In this dream, I was playing a new KH that actually let you go into Kingdom Hearts itself for the final battle, and on your way through a very trippy realm, the last place you went through on your way to the last arena was a replica of Daybreak Town, perfectly preserved there with all of its citizens. I feel like that would be such a poetic way to end it - being able to walk on the earliest known world, kept in stasis by the heart of existence that remembers it.
When you dive into Traverse Town in Dream Drop Distance the background shows how massive it really is. It looks like there are almost literally endless sprawling buildings with no empty land in site. The new areas were so nice but that image made me wish it was a real place so I could explore all of it.
