1. 0:40 {Discussing Biblical “Contradictions”!} Can you please discuss some different Bible passages that appear to be contradictory?
2. 41:10 {Unnecessary Body Parts = Evolution?} I have a coworker that is an atheist. He said that there are parts of our bodies that are not necessary and that might prove evolution rather than a Creator. Any thoughts?
3. 48:11 {Is Salvation Sometimes Unfair?} One of my biggest issues is that you NEED to believe in Jesus to be saved. If someone is born in a Muslim country, they would have to sacrifice way more than the average westerner. How is that fair?
4. 53:53 {Historical Jesus & Manuscripts} How can we believe in a historical Jesus if the oldest manuscripts we have are from the second or third century?
5. 1:00:40 {Is Christianity the True Religion?} How do I know Christianity is right/true compared to other world religions?
6. 1:09:20 {Does God Make Mistakes?} I often hear the argument, “If God doesn't make mistakes when it comes to gender, then what about people with disabilities?" How would you respond?
7. 1:15:08 {Applying PSA on Earth?} If the doctrine of Penal Substitutionary Atonement is just, would it be just for an earthly judge to impute the guilt of a murderer to an innocent volunteer and sentence the volunteer to death instead of the murderer? If not, why?
8. 1:18:30 {Joseph in Jesus’ Lineage?} Any idea why Matthew and Luke list Joseph’s genealogy when he’s not Jesus’ birth father? Does that mean Jesus’ lineage isn’t what it needs to be to fulfill prophecy?
9. 1:20:27 {Is there Really an Afterlife?} Why do Christians think there is an afterlife? Why not just look at death as a return to the quantum state, like before we were born?
10. 1:24:26 {Did God Create Cancer?} If God created everything, why did He create cancer? As a Christian mother, I still struggle with these sorts of questions.
11. 1:27:54 {The Best Argument for God} What do you think is the best evidence/argument there is for God?
12. 1:30:21 {Does Trusting First Invalidate our Faith?} If you have to believe first in order to experience the reality of Christianity, if the "proof" only comes alive when one chooses to trust it, isn't that "truth" make-believe?
13. 1:33:54 {Would a Good God make a Terrible Hell?} When Jesus said that for the person who would betray Him it would be better not to be born, I assume Hell is worse than non-existence. How does this match with a good God?
14. 1:35:58 {Unrepentant Heart - Still Saved by Faith?} If I believe in my heart that Jesus rose from the dead and trust in Him alone for salvation, why would God then send me to Hell for being actively gay? Am I not saved by my faith instead of my works?
15. 1:42:16 {Salvation in the OT} How were people saved in the Old Testament before Jesus? And if they were saved without believing in Jesus, then why did it change?
16. 1:46:11 {Why do Christians Ask for Forgiveness?} My question from a skeptic is, if you are already saved, why do you still ask for forgiveness for your sins?
17. 1:47:26 {Hypostatic Union - Contradictory?} Is Jesus being God and Man a contradiction? The Bible says that the Son doesn’t know the day or the hour of His coming. Can Jesus know (as God) and not know (as Man) at the same time?
18. 1:49:32 {Bible = Pure Fiction?} As a Christian, what is an appropriate answer to an atheist claiming that the Bible is pure fiction?
19. 1:55:48 {Mixed Messages in Scripture?} I lost my faith due to all the mixed messages in the Bible. For example, is salvation by faith alone like John 5: 24, or faith plus works like James 2? Why doesn’t this cause you to doubt?
20. 1:58:39 {Does the Concept of Sin Apply to God?} Is God holy and sinless? Can God do things which, if we did them, would be considered sin? One example is killing the firstborn of Egypt. Does the concept of sin (or being sinless) even APPLY to God?
21. 2:03:30 {How to Trust in Christ} I’m a Bible believing non-Christian that hurt himself by absorbing bad Charismatic teachings. I have always had trouble trusting and accepting Christ. How would one begin to as a skeptic?

@@MikeWinger 1 christ is not going to return and set up a kingdom on earth 2 God is not going to destroy this planet and make another one 1Co 15:45-50 ISV 45 This, indeed, is what is written: “The first man, Adam, became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 The spiritual does not come first, but the physical does, and then comes the spiritual. 47 The first man came from the dust of the earth; the second man came from heaven. 48 Those who are made of the dust are like the man from the dust; those who are heavenly are like the man who is from heaven. 49 Just as we have borne the likeness of the man who was made from dust, we will also bear the likeness of the man from heaven. 50 Brothers, this is what I mean: Mortal bodies cannot inherit the kingdom of God, and what decays cannot inherit what does not decay. 2Pe 3:7 ISV Now by that same word, the present heavens and earth have been reserved for fire and are being kept for the day when ungodly people will be judged and destroyed.

Hey mike, the 4th Q was a person who asked how can we trust scripture when the earliest manuscripts are from the 3rd-4th centuries, this is not true at all, we have around 6k manuscripts of the new testement all from the 1st century, the latest by design was by John, around 75-90AD John's gospel and revelation, written after the destruction of the temple in 70AD, this late dating is silly and is a tactic by presupposing miricales don't happen, so the times jesus prophesied the destruction of the temple was after 70AD because people can't predict the future, its not scriptures fault, it's the unwillingness of the skeptic. I wish mike would have said no manuscript was written in the 3rd or 4th century, I can't think of anyone who is respected in scholarship that manuscripts were being written around the days of the council of naecea, the Canon was already closed around that time, skeptics do the same with late dating daniel, because a person can't predict the future, so we will date daniel super late because of our presuppositions. Daniel of the old testament is 1 of the.most powerful and deeply fulfilling prophetic books from the babylonian empire to asyrian and grecco-roman and seleucid empires and like over 700 years of 100% fullfilled prophecies, if a skeptic shows me there ID / license and I say no you look 65 not what this shows you can't be 46 years old, I will tell you your age as this document does not fit my presuppositions. Now apply this logic to the most popular and important writings of history and hope you see the hypocrisy and the double speak humans do.

@@ryanrevland4333 I’ve always assumed that Matthew 16:37-28 is referring to either A) a few humans that genuinely won’t die because limit God’s supernatural abilities and will in your mind? Or B) it’s a metaphor for the moving of The Holy Spirit within the people of Israel because scripture has referring to us believers as the Church or Christ’s Kingdom. I’d just spend some time researching that one if it’s weighing on your spirit. Doesn’t seem too complex to get to the bottom of.
@kingofslimes255

@@ryanrevland4333 While I'm not sure of a solution to Matthew 10:23 off the top of my head, I think that Matthew 16:28 is referring to the Transfiguration rather than the 2nd coming of Christ. Jesus says this same line in Luke 9:27 and Mark 9:1, and on all 3 occasions this statement is immediately followed by an account of the Transfiguration where God's glory and kingdom are shown to Peter, James, and John. As additional support for this, Jesus specifically says that they will not die *before* they witness the kingdom of God, implying that they will die after witnessing it. If the kingdom of God in this context referred to the second coming, then they wouldn't die after. Hope this helps!

This is great! I am looking forward to a series on this. I read the whole Bible 6 times and it all fits together without contradictions the more you study and understand it. The thing is you need the Holy Spirit, it is like the air that fills up an inflatable ball and the supposed contradictions vanish. All the Bible college and commentaries in the world can't do that job. If there are questions, make a list and pray, it really works as God answers them. The key is being open and truly wanting to know the truth. We do not fear the truth at all. Searching diligently is good and sharpens our apologetics. I can answer so many of these questions but you always learn something new and that is exciting. That was great about the justice systems comparison for instance! For one thing I am amazed how many do not understand the distinction between the Old and New Covenants, Jesus is the fulfillment of so much and so we don't need to keep the OT laws like the sabbath and circumcision, etc. Our circumcision is of the heart, our sabbath rest is Jesus, we do our thing on Sunday because of the Resurrection and Pentecost and that is when they met. It just shows me they never truly studied the Bible even to glean the elementary things of the faith. That is not a contradiction in the Bible, it is a lack of study. Now with evolution, you can't hold to that because with it, death came long before the fall. According to the Bible animals came before man, then man sinned and then death entered. God created man and all things, not evolution. Also, it is not a 'scientific fact,' it is called evolutionary 'theory' for a reason, it is merely a theory and not a fact. I do think the creation story is a bit simplified because the intention was not to write a science book but a salvation book. Like you would explain a complicated thing to a child. One last point is that there are some honest skeptics and seekers out there. But there are also some that are simply hostile and hateful and not open at all. One thing I see is that atheism is mostly not an issue of the mind or intellectual, but of the heart. When in a debate with an atheist, after a while it comes down to the existential issue of suffering and why God allows it, and there are reasons that man does not understand. But if you dig deeper you eventually come to a comment like; "But then why did God let..... (blank) happen in my life?" So it boils down to: 1. They know there is a God. It's not just hypothetical. 2. They had a bad thing happen. 3. They think since God is in control, all must be paradise now. 4. Thus they blame God, get angry, and turn on God. They spend a lot of time fighting someone they claim does not exist. If that thing had not happened, they may still believe in God, or be in relationship with Him actually. So there are intellectual aspects to it but mainly emotional and spiritual ones. In cases where the relationship is restored, it is always a heart issue that is dealt with rather a mind issue. A good way of approaching this is the following. Suppose you run into an atheist and have a discussion. You propose something to them. You say suppose every intellectual question was answered, every moral concern, every doubt and skepticism dealt with to full satisfaction. So every mental roadblock was cleared for them. Would they now turn to God? Would their hearts now do a U-turn to God? I would venture to say no because it is a heart issue and not a mind issue. Ultimately a spiritual thing and they rationalized with all these walls they built up in the name of science and such. Don't get me wrong, we need the intellectual aspects to be discussed. But for instance I keep running into atheist types who point to the bad behavior of Christians and the lack of love in the church, etc. as a justification for their stance. I can't help but think of Jesus' words at the Last Supper; "They will know you are My disciples by your love for one another." He is real, we are His disciples, Christianity is true, but the outside world will know by our love... for one another. Sadly I do see all this volunteerism where churches go around doing all these good works for the world, but when there is a sister or brother in the church who needs help; they are totally ignored. It creates problems like this. Blessings and looking forward to next time!

A lot of good input here. I just question "we don't have to have a sabbath ". It's so simplistic to dump the entire old testament because of the new covenant. I've taught my children this: the sacrifices, the symbolic, and the ceremonies are no longer required. Jesus fulfilled them. The basic moral laws stand. The 19 commandments, for example, stand. Including the sabbath. God made the sabbath for man. It's a "get to" not a " have to" if you receive it with gratitude. Things like the mixing of cloth fibers thst people mock were symbolic of carnality and worldliness mixed with holiness (the holy and the profane). We don't have to follow that law because it's symbolic, but maybe we should because the church is excessively worldly today.

The key thing is to help them understand their need to acknowledge a greater Being, and then what that Being is like (He gave His Son to save us). Why add stumbling blocks that are unnecessary? If they come to Christ, and surrender to Him, the Lord will continue to lead them into greater truth. Trust God to teach and lead those who have come to love Him.

4. Something interesting about the gospels is that they all end with very different accounts of what happened. Mark (earliest) says that the women at the empty tomb went and told no one what had happened (at first I assume?) Others say that they did, immediately. Then there’s the dispute about what Mary Magdalene went through at the tomb. Did she see an angel and then leave? Or did Christ reveal himself to her? These stories don’t mesh seamlessly. If you notice, as you move forward in time, the recordings of what went on after Jesus’s disappearance, I mean resurrection, become more and more “fanciful”…

Americans are generally major sabbath breakers. They want to backpack, go to the beach, water ski, go to the mall etc. Or otherwise gratify themselves. I spent time in New Zealand in the 80s and the families I stayed with went to church, had family over to eat a pre-prepared meal, and then chatted, lounged, or napped the rest of the day. Shops were CLOSED. You did your shopping, baking, errands, or cleaning on Friday evening or Saturday.

Exodus 20:11 “For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested* on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” ‭‭ Jesus said “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”” Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭29 Jesus is our rest now. He fulfilled the Sabbath. He directs the thinking and doing of His sheep and keeps us in a state of constant rest. Other 9 commandments still stand as necessary, but for the Sabbath, we have a new rest that has been obtained thru Jesus.
@amyqb117
@amyqb117 21 день назад
Jesus being a fulfilment of the law is vastly different from what you are saying here. You are using the words fulfilment but in a completely different context of the original passage of “fulfilment of the Law”. Please look at the passage again. . Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished” (Matthew 5:17-18). . Jesus says that He came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets. In other words, Jesus’ purpose was to establish the Word, to embody it, and to fully accomplish all that was written. “Christ is the culmination of the law” (Romans 10:4). . Jesus Christ fulfilled the Law in at least two ways: as a teacher and as a doer. He taught people to obey the Law (Matthew 22:35-40; Mark 1:44), and He obeyed the Law Himself (John 8:46; 1 Peter 2:22). In living a perfect life, Jesus fulfilled the moral laws; in His sacrificial death, Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial laws. Christ came not to destroy the old religious system but to build upon it; He came to finish the Old Covenant and establish the New. . This has nothing to do with absolving man from obeying any of the commandments. . But YES, Jesus is also the “Lord of the Sabbath" (Matthew 12:8). He decides the true meaning of the Sabbath because He created it, and He is our Sabbath rest in the flesh. So if Jesus states a different way to “do the sabbath”, then so be it. It is not a dishonouring of the Sabbath, it is a fulfilment of it, but different from what it was. . Hence, there are no actual commandments that you do not have to obey any longer. Simply one that you do not observe as one would at the time it was given. . And what then did Jesus say about this change: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mark 2:27). Jesus was restating the principle that the Sabbath rest was instituted to relieve man of his labors, just as He came to relieve us of our attempting to achieve salvation by our works.

As someone who once identified as an atheist and would not even consider Christianity, I now reflect on my past and realize that I was spiritually blind. I believe that this blindness was caused by the god of this world(satan), as mentioned in 2 Corinthians 4:4. This leads me to wonder how many others are also spiritually blinded by satan. Specifically, I am grappling with the question of how we can reconcile the fact that some individuals may not be saved due to this spiritual blindness. Does this mean that their lack of belief is not entirely their fault?

Not everyone who sat under Jesus ministry committed their lives to Him. Many people in the New Testament record did not commit themselves to Christ even though they heard the same message from the apostles. Not Everyone was healed by Jesus or the apostles. There is the matter of faith, that is trust and the illumination by the Holy Spirt. There are often times in our lives when we are more open to hearing the gospel than other times. Romans states that our conscience and the world around us, nature, declare the existence of God. Not everyone will give their lives in Worship of Jesus/God but that does not give them an excuse to avoid punishment for rejecting Jesus. Read Romans. John 1v1-11 gives an explanation of the light darkness metaphor. And John 3v19. Hope this is helpful

41:00 evolution. I do not buy that evolution/creation is 2nd tier or third tier, or however humans try to categorize heresy vs acceptable doctrinal differences. Creation is God's primary way of displaying His existence and glory. It’s not optional to disbelieve God's revelation of His attributes. @davegink9222
@davegink9222 23 дня назад
I think you missed the point. As Mike said, it all leads back to God being the Creator. That’s the takeaway. Whether the Earth is young, or old, or whether God created the universe through the big bang, or didn’t, or whether evolution was part of God‘s creation, or wasn’t, none of that is a salvation issue. It’s not calling God a liar, simply because you’re not sure if the Genesis account is literal or not. And I’m sure as you will attest, not everything in the Bible IS literal. If you took it literally on flat earth, you would have to say the Earth is flat. But we know it’s not. Understanding that isn’t calling God a liar.

@@davegink9222 I'm not saying that you are calling God a liar but understand that most of the people preaching evolution/old earth are calling God a liar or saying He doesn't exist or maybe a god exists but not the one of the Bible. Yes there are poetic expressions in Scripture. The earth is God's footstool; no one has ever taught that God has literal giant feet resting on the planet. But that doesn't mean that we can just dismiss whatever we don't like as poetry. There are clear indicators for when something is historically described and when it is poetic. Is this salvific? Depends on what you mean. Is the truth of original creation the core gospel itself? No. Is it impossible for someone who believes in evolution to be a Christian? No. But is it profitable? Is it impossible for someone who doesn't believe in Virgin births, angels, or church gatherings to be a Christian? I don't think so but that doesn't mean it doesn't matter. Is the 2nd coming the core gospel itself? Is there no problem if we just say that all of Revelation is poetic, not literal? What about lgbtq issues? I'm not saying that evolution/creation teaching is a salvific issue for you or every person. However, I have heard many, many people explain that ideas related to evolution are what keep/kept them from believing the Bible and accepting Christ. Humanism/Marxism/atheism have become the dominant religion of the west and many hundreds of millions are in fact being led away from Jesus because of their lies. How is that not a salvific issue for those people? Not much different than the people rejecting God's Word because of LGBTQ or because of the Judaizers in the 1st century. I think it is dangerous for the church to continue to ignore this.

Hey, man! That's me! There's a lot to unpack in my question that I wasn't able to mention, but more to what you just commented on...that philosophy doesn't make sense in light of John 5:24 and 1st John 5:13. The Bible says that we can KNOW that we have eternal life, right? And that once we believe, we are immediately passed from death into life, right? So how does what you said make any sense? If i kill somebody AFTER I am saved, am I still saved? Like, if I don't show "receipts," as you say, what then? I mean, are YOU saved? Do you really know that? I mean, you could fall away at any second, right? Pride cometh before a fall, bro. So, you could do some horrible stuff, so do you REALLY know that you're saved? No, cause you don't know if you'll fall. This CONTRADICTS the verses I cited above. This is one of the many reasons I lost my faith.

@@LandonMetochoi Hey Landon! I think that Ephesians 2:8-10 really clear this up: “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬ We see from these two verses that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ’s death on the cross. Now if we read on just one verse ahead in Ephesians 2:10 it says: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭10‬ ‭ESV The keyword in this verse is “should.” As believers in Jesus Christ, we should do good works but we do not have to in order to obtain salvation. We are justified (saved) by believing the gospel, which is simply stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and we are continually being sanctified by choosing to do good works throughout the rest of our life as believers. Once we are justified, we now have the ability to either walk in the Spirit or walk in the flesh because we do not lose our free will once we are saved. I hope that was helpful for you. I pray that you come back to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I'm not sure question 4 was answered in the way that was intended by the questioner. The question was: given the first manuscripts we have are at least 100 years after they were first written, how do we know that they reflect what the authors actually wrote? We have no manuscripts from 80AD-200AD and very few from 200AD-300AD (that only have a small amount of text). With later copies we can compare them to the other manuscripts too see what has changed. However, if changes were made in the first 100-200 years there is nothing to compare to. This raises the question why didn't God preserve any of the originals, so we can ensure that there aren't changes that were made in this first 100-150 years after Jesus's death.
