My Egyptian mau is ten years old and has recently been diagnosed with cancer. He is the best cat I could ever ask for, always wanting cuddles and wanting to play. His name is Anubis and I love him so much
@@reptilequeen4720 it was acc the Egyptian god Anubis we named him after. My cat grow up with dogs so we thought it would be funny to name him after a dog god 😄
It's always funny to see Norwegian Forest Cats on lists like, throughout Scandinavia it's a pretty common pedigree cat. Its well loved (for good reason) so you won't often find any for sale for long.
Taking this opportunity to brag about my wonderful kitty His name is Motel 6 because he was found outside a Motel 6 and brought to the spca. When we applied for him all we knew was his name and that he was an adult, but oh my goodness we got the best little boy!! He’s a little black cat without a tail (we don’t know why) so instead he has this little rump that makes him look like a little bear!!! He’s such a sweetheart and was super confident from day one. And his little meow!! Perfection!! We think he maybe learned to be a charmer living outside the Motel, but my partner and I also did a lot to help make sure he was comfortable and felt safe in his new environment. I really recommend watching some of Jackson Galaxy’s videos if you have a cat or are thinking of getting one ✨✨✨
LULU!!! I love Claire’s channels (Claire luvcat and Kittisaurus). I literally had a physical reaction when I saw that you used footage of Lulu for the munchkin cat.
Em: I'd never sell you, never never never! Dobby: Really mommy?🥺This is why I love you- Em: I'd give you away for free! Dobby: I'll eat everything you have lady (even later attacks Em for revenge 🤣)
I have a kurilian bobtail! She's my best friend and so sweet. Unfortunately her breeder left her and her feline family home alone without food or water for 2 weeks. The woman who rescued her spent weeks rehabilitating them. She isn't doing to well and was diagnosed with a terminal illness. I'll have to say goodbye soon, but I'm so happy she was apart of my life.
I love learning about different cat breeds, I spent a few months trying to find out what kind of cat I have currently, I got him from the shelter but I've never had a cat that looks or acts like this one, it turns out he's a chantilly tiffany! Another rare cat breed, though there isn't a high demand for them nowadays, they have gorgeous black/silver coats and make weird cute bird sounds though! I love my lil black bird cat who's extremely loyal
I agree, a little disappointing to see them and their mixes featured so prominently here when there are many other cool rare cat breeds without poor genetics.
It's worse that one of them had folded ears, a mutation causing defective cartilage and severe osteoarthritis as the cat ages. End the torture breeding!
I am super lucky. I adopted a black Norwegian forest cat named Olive. She was maybe 1.5-2 years old when we got her and she was labeled as a domestic medium hair but as she got older and bigger we found that that is definitely not the case. She is a 14 pound majestic derpy floof. She’s super playful (she’ll even play a few rounds of fetch with her toys). Our life is so much richer with her in our family. We just had a baby and Olive took to protecting her little sister right away.
I was in a pet store with one of my ferrets once and someone asked me what animal that was so I said dead pan 'a peruvian chihuhua. It's very rare' and he believed me. I felt so bad I was all 'no no I was messing with you, it's a ferret' XD
I'm so proud of myself for knowing pretty much all the cat breeds! Norwegian Forest Cats are one of my favorites, and I would love to have one someday ❤
I have a Scottish Fold and although he’s adorable had I known all of the issues I was going to run into I would’ve never got one. I just feel like he’s in pain, and vets don’t even know what’s going on.. breaks my heart
I didn't think they had as many issues as, say, Munchkins. I love them, too. They're one of my ex's favs. I've always felt bad for the munchkins. I have a dwarf that was born with congenital hypothyroidism and luckily she hasn't had as many issues as a lot of other dwarfs have, but she is special needs. I worry about the Lykoi's because a lot of them look like they could be sick to people that don't know the breed. If they were to get out and end up at the pound and weren't chipped, and possibly if they were and someone didn't check, they could be put to sleep. Shelters don't typically pay for sick animals. They just euthanize them.
So glad there were no hybrids in this video (aside from the brief mention of bengals). These are so cute! I knew a few of them. Have always wanted Norweigan Forest Cats!
"I'd give you away for free" reminds me of the time my friend said I wouldn't insult them behind their back. And then she proceeded to say "She'd insult everyone infront of you."
I knew all of these breeds! But I only learned about snowshoes after adopting a snowshoe kitten 4 years ago. I feel like they could have made the list too.
I'm a pet groomer and I always love learning new breeds! I think the most interesting breeds I learned about today were the Kurlilian Bobtail, Toyga, Sokoke, and the Lykoi. P.S. I will give you free grooming supplies for the doggos in exchange for Dobby 🤭😉
My cats mama was a Norwegian Forest cat! Or at least the rescue group is 98% sure anyway. He's a tuxedo boy, very similar looking to the black and white one kneeding the blanket 🤭 He is defiantly 100% lap cap though always wants to be around everyone and purrs of you just even look at him! He's super vocal, huge and loves to keep the house "safe" as he growls as people knocking on the door more then the dogs even bark 🤣
Siamese will forever be my favorite breed. They're extremely velcro, affectionate towards their owner but aloof towards strangers (a trait I like because it shows that they have a bond with you rather than just liking everyone the same), they are vocal in a way that they will have "conversations" with you but they won't meow for no reason or keep you up, they are high energy, and they are highly intelligent. I will always have a siamese or siamese mixed cat.
The only one I didn't know was the sokoke, but to be fair they look like a typical cute marble cat 🙈 The Norwegian forest cat is pretty common in France but we do love our cats. I didn't see any Sacred Cat of Burman 😢
Wow! I've seen so many of these videos and thought... I'd know them all.. I Didnt know the Toyger,Wolf cat,the Singapore cat, that munchkin/siamese etc. one. GREAT VIDEO Em, love that you actually brought some new breeds to this type of video!!
I am surprised and saddened you haven't excluded munchkins and the other one from the list. The mutation that is upheld in them to keep them looking "cute" is honestly saddening and worrysome - breeders are creating kitties set up to have below average quality of existence (stunted legs, inability to "cat" properly, leading to trailing health consequences down the line :( )
Considering I'm obsessed with Munchkins and Sphynxes I'm shocked I had never heard of Minskins!! They are so cute!! I also love Scottish Folds, but I think mixing Munchkins, Sphynxes and Folds is asking for a lot of health problems. (My fiance and I are probably going to adopt a cat from our local shelter when my roommates move out and take their cats with them...unless we can purrsuade them to sell one of them to us. But I think having a Dream Pet is perfectly fine~)
I had an Egyptian Mau as a kid. My neighbor had huge dogs and they owned her originally. She always ran off and took refuge at our house. I thought she was a stray. Turns out she had a house up the street. But she hissed and fought with her original owners. They gave her to me because she loved our house and purred for me and let me hold her. Something they could never get her to do. A bold hunter she brought my backyard neighbors koi fish to the doorstep. Even birds.
I recently got a new kitten. We don't really know her breed as the vets are not open for registering in person, so we are speculating that she's mixed with a bengal breed. Either or. I love her and she's my lovely wee Precious.
I have a rare breed you didn’t mention called the Toybob. They are the smallest breed of cat averaging about 5 1/2 pounds. They have a naturally bobtail. They’re a natural breed of cat from Russia, and have been existing there for over three decades. They are extremely friendly and come in all colors. You can see my two Toybobs on IG at Awesome_Andy_the_Cat
We just recently got a kitten, he looks much like a Maine coon but he isn’t. He’s so naughty My mother often threatens to put him in a pie, she’s yet to do it 🤣 I love the Devon Rex they feel like suede
I love cats!! I only know about Norwegian forest cats because of Rachel and Jun’s cat, Nagi! So cute. Another beautiful cat is the abysian, gorgeous dark orange fur
I knew all of those cat breeds except the Singapura, but I had no idea these breeds were rare. I really want a Norwegian forest cat, either that or a Maine Coon. Some years back I really wanted a Munchkin, but they have too many health risks.
Interesting to know about these cat breeds, I've never heard of Minkskin or Lykoi cats before, but I do know the other eight cat breeds. In contrast, on your rare dog breed video, the only two breeds I've heard of are the Utonagan and the New Guinea Singing Dog.
I have heard of Lykoi cats cause my old roommate actually owns one. He found her when she was a kitten and has had her ever since. She's a big sweetheart.
I was so proud of myself for knowing all of theses breeds except the Minskin!!! I love learning about different cat and dog breeds Em! Awesome content!!
I was surprised that Sokoke was on this list. I'm am convinced that my cat is at least part Sokoke but it's very hard to find much information on them, so thankyou :)
I knew about some of these cat breeds before but not all of them. I learned some new interesting things which to me is always fun. I also learned that the Norwegian forest cat is considered a rare cat breed. I didn't know it was considered a rare cat breed since they aren't that uncommon where I live. Then I remember that I live in Sweden which is very close to Norway. So I guess it makes sense that they're more common here than other countries further away. Now I know they're not actually that common generally speaking.
I'm new to your channel but I love this video!!! I have a kitten RoseMarie. We are unsure of her breed but she looks and acts like she might just be a mix between an Egyptian Mau plus another cat.
My cat is a strange one lol. She has Maine Coon, Persian, rag doll and a random feral breed in her she’s very weird looking with huge round yellow eyes extremely long haired but with a sort of tortoise shell print a patch over one eye massive paws an upright fluffy tail and a squished but extended long face. She reminds me of a gremlin (when they’re cute) lol. The vet always says he’s never seen anything like her. She’s 14 now, her meow is extremely high pitched and constant and she growls and whines like a baby crying when anyone walks past the window, she’s extremely vocal about everything! She literally never stops chirping talking etc she’s very vicious to people who aren’t me lol oh and she can’t retract her claws x
My favorites on this list are the Norwegian forest cat and the egyptian mau, they are so gorgeous!! I love cats with all my heart, thank you for this video, it really made me smile!!
