Steel Battalion's controller was mind-blowing when first introduce especially seeing as how it made the original Xbox controller (the Duke) look downright adorable in comparison
I miss the days when game companies and especially third party manufacturers went absolutely nuts when it came to specially designed controllers/peripherals. But of course when it comes to the undisputed King of "outside the box" controller/peripheral designs there is only MADKATZ👑 Also I have the power glove, Sega fishing rod, and that weird proto Dreamcast controller that was made for the Saturn but thats the extent of my "rare controllers" collection....oh and the seamen microphone of course
The Atari Jaguar Pro Controller is worth a lot too. I sold mine for more than I sold my Atari Jaguar CD system. I think the final price for the Ebay auction was just under $300. That was years ago too, they're probably worth a lot more nowadays.
Man, I know for a damn fact I've still got that Phantasy Star Online Gamecube keyboard controller somewhere... I was REALLY into PSO 20 years ago when I got a dialup modem and imported that keyboard
@@tylerfitton3697 it's roughly... 1/3 of the size of a normal keyboard? It takes some getting used to like a smaller, SD-resolution laptop's keyboard. It's not impossible to type on, and playing the game with the normal control buttons/joysticks is kinda like playing a Switch's joycons casually on the sides of your body
I knew the green button SB control unit was the first one, but I just thought it was the one sold with the single player game and the blue came with the multiplayer variant. Glad I got the green. Still going to use it for mech games going forward with a USB dongle and some control spoofing software. Now I really want to build the aluminum housing for it to keep that outer shell nice. Retro Game Trader in Portland, Oregon has most of these on hand, I've gotten to play with most of those. Getting to do that and play with a Panasonic Q is sort of a gamer bucket list
Back in the PS2 days I bought a bunch of 3rd party controllers as they were all over. The two that stand out in my mind: a Nerf one, yup kind of soft like the old footballs, and one that had metal plates all over it to keep your hands from sweating, which was really nice, but I didn't even use it a week and one of the joysticks broke ($30-50 down the drain). Since then I tend to not go 3rd party on any accessories if possible.
The Dreamcast controller is the best controller of all time. prove me wrong. It was ergonomic, fit the hand better than anything else at the time, triggers were easy to pull and pressure sensitive depending on the game. If a 3rd party hardware manufacturer (do these even exist any more?) made an updated one with a second stick using the Xbox layout position and wireless, I'd buy it in a heart beat.
I swear to God. If I find 2 types of controllers I finally threw away after 6 years of having them and not knowing what they did/were for.........I will lose it.
I spent so long after a steel battalion controller when I was younger it took me a year an a half or so to get one but I got it, some of the best 250ish(maybe more can't remember) pounds I've spent even if I never did get very good at the game lol.
5:28 - The Engrish on the box dun goof'd, I think... It makes mention of the Raccoon police "Special Tactics and Services." Maybe they've finally realised that "Rescue" is impossible...
I have a hori GameCube game boy player controller. It's pretty cool, and can be used with any game that lets you use a GameCube controller. It doesn't have analog sticks though, so you're mostly going to use it on retro games.
@@3800scgp At the time when the Gameboy player controller was new; I bought it for ten bucks at game crazy. I don't think it's worth paying over 200$ nowadays; especially since you can just buy an adapter to use an SNES controller on your GameCube, Wii or Switch.
The Wu Tang controller is not really all that valuable. I have seen them sell for 100 bucks online. You know what 100 dollars can buy you today? One modern game controller and maybe a game. When you look at it that way then it does not seem to be "valuable".
@@adamphillip5305 Yes, kids being a synonym of children and me being blitzed as a motherfucker when I made the comment... but thanks for the correction. 👍🏻
The only relatively vintage game peripherals I own are a Monster Brain Cartridge by GameShark, a hardware mod that essentially gave me debug mode for Pokemon Red/Blue and Gold/Silver. Think of leaving Palet Town with a team of 6 max stat Lvl 99 Mewtwo and 99 Masterballs. And a Super Game Boy Cartridge, it allowed you to play Gameboy games on the Super Nintendo.
Anyone else have one of those dual mouse wireless ps3/pc split controllers? Dunno if it's rare, but I lost the software when it accidentally overwrote the disc...
sure, but compared to the overall impact and success the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube got when released, overshadowed the DC and led to Sega's eventual retirement from consoles.
I dont care i still use wired controllers to this day i hate my controller dying and not having battery's for it or when they keep turning off for no reason i hate it i use not but wired to this day like on my PC
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
