@Opaz Finally made the F1 system purchase. So far, very nice, loud, and clear system. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I didn't bother with the 8, 16, or 32 because I already knew from an SPL perspective, the F1 system was superior. It's unfortunate that the 32 didn't live up to your expectations. Here in the US, the F1 system is cheaper than the 32 at $2k per stack. While the F1 might be a bit heavier than the 32, I am still able to put it together and tear it down with no help.

I sold my Evolve 50's and purchased the L1 PRO 32 with Sub 2 (2 units) and let me tell you, it was the best decision I made, I love the sound and bass on these BOSE speakers, I get lots of compliments on the sound and people just keep staring at them like "Wow that's the sound that comes out of those things? So I watched your video when you first unboxed the Bose pro32 sub2's shortly before I bought the Bose 32 sub2's. I've used the system at about 6 larger events (I DJ weddings) Your points are valid. It does not sound as good as the other L1 systems (I have owned them all) The system is MUCH MUCH LOUDER though. It WILL fill a large room with good sound. It WILL Cut through a crowd to the back of a packed dance floor, something other L1 systems could not do. I do high end weddings and it looks AWESOME. That is important to me (and to my clients and planners I work with). It's a BREEZE to set up! Almost as easy as my Evolve 50 speakers which I use most of the time. The subs are EASY to transport. I'm 60 and that is important..for a sub that size it puts out A LOT of bass. Is it the best bass? No, but my clients are not audiophiles. It booms and that's all they care about. Are they over priced? Yup, but there is nothing else like them and they work extremely well for the type of events I do. It took 3 weddings to pay for them both so the cost was not a major factor. No they are far from perfect. Would I buy them again if I had it to do all over again? I'm not sure..probably. I like your videos!

Hi Mark, Hello, I'm waiting until after the pandemic to start my wedding DJ career. With two Bose L1 Pro 32. I would like to know how you usually place them if your room is rectangular. Can you tell the maximum size of dance floor you would be comfortable with just the 2 of them ? Because they are so expensive, I'll get an idea of the maximum I can get out of them. For a restaurant with around thirty tables, just one would be plenty, I imagine. Many thanks in advance for your time to answer me.

Ha! I love your comment about the covers. The L1M2’s came with more premium cases. The cases for the top and base are pretty good though where is the pocket for the cables? The Sub2 cover is a joke. The B1 and B2 came with a thicker waterproof cover that though isn’t padded still feels premium. Definitely right on the Sub2. It’s not matched well. Some songs it sounds amazing, others it’s muddy and doesn’t sound right. I think part of this is the smaller drivers. The columns don’t get as low as the M2. I think this is so they can get better mixing of two systems and get highs above 16kHz unlike the M2. Unfortunately that means the Sub 2 handles higher frequencies than the B1/B2 had to and is a bigger driver. I’m. It sold on the racetrack either. There is a reason speakers are round. The sub match cable seems to send very little info to the column. The app and dsp ability is severely lacking. No parametric eq? No options for one Sub2 vs 2? I know you’re against getting the T4S mixer but I’m sort of ok with it if it fixes the issues. Here’s the thing, the T4S works on the M2 and Pro series and doesn’t have different eq’s for each so it doesn’t change a thing. It gives you a one band parametric eq, but that’s not much. Except a few more outputs and another tone match port it’s the same mixer as the T1. Also none of the Tonematch scenes have been updated in 15 years, they’re the same ones on the T1 mixer I have and very few. Hope you have Taylor guitars and Audix mics.

I gather from most comments people seem to be DJs. I bought this from a singer and a 5 piece band perspective. I have used and heard many PAs. This one is good, lots of volume and clarity. Glad I bought the Tonematch along with it as amazing. Only negatives for me is the vulnerability of the design in wild drunken venues as the column wobbles when touched and the floor panel is easily splashed at floor level with drinks. If a sensible crowd and nice wedding and events this piece of equipment is brilliant as light weight and sounds amazing.

I'm in a guitar/drums/bass/keys looping duo (rock and pop music) and I had a Bose F1/812 system up until about a month ago. I switched to a pair of L1 Pro32's and Sub1's, and I couldn't be more happy. I run the columns in stereo, and the subs stacked in mono, and this setup seems to be a perfect frequency match between lows and highs. I use the 'live' EQ setting, and I roll the hi EQ down one notch on the line input. I get punchy snares and kicks, and nicely rounded bass guitar. It's a much better system for what we do than the F1/812's mostly because of the way it fills the rooms we play. There's something about the columns that allow the music to be the same volume everywhere in the club, from one foot away to 30 feet away. The mix of frequencies stays the same as well. We set the system up behind us now, which allows us to hear in detail exactly what everyone else in the venue is hearing. I don't need my IEM's any longer, which is a sweet and welcomed change putting me much more in the room. When we used them in a place we play quite often for the first time, the staff was quick to point out what a sonic improvement there was. According to the specs, the L1 32 pro has the same SPL at 13ft as the F1/812, and less dB loss at 33 ft. It used to take four trips to get the F1/812 into the club, and now it's two, 90lbs less weight. Opaz, there are some good points in your video. Like the mixer on the floor really worries me. It does look like a pan for dirt and water to form. And 3000 dollars each was a huge investment to swallow for something that doesn't look like 3000 dollars worth of stuff. That sub cover too.... disappointing. However, with Bose, you're paying for R&D as well as the product. Sure, we can say that Behringer has a much cheaper version of this style of PA, but of course they do. Bose did all the work...
@PhatSimey
@PhatSimey 2 года назад
I went to a gig a couple of weeks ago, where the band had a stereo pair of F1/812 units (which they recently bought) and they nearly knocked me off my feet, quite literally! Thought they were a new thing, but then looking up on the Bose site, already about 7 years old. Is the L1 Pro series a replacement, or will there be a new breed of F1? Prefer the look of them to the more organic style of the L1, but that's just my taste. Would like a little more bottom end for the kick drum and 'floor' toms, so might add a Sub1 to my Pro8. The Behringer PAs we use as stage monitors (or the house PA) can't handle any bass, so I put my drums through the Pro8, and send the signal with low cut into the house PA. Works well.
@toddmoore9138
@toddmoore9138 2 года назад
@@PhatSimey I think on the sub bass side of things, the F1's clearly were more well suited. I see the the L1 Pro 32 a replacement in SPL, coverage and portability, but probably not for recreating the full bass range, although the Sub2's would probably be better for that than the Sub1's if that's what you're looking for. Still not missing my F1/812's, though.
@PhatSimey
@PhatSimey 2 года назад
@@toddmoore9138 Thinking the same about the F1 setup, but don't need that sort of grunt just yet. I play in a worship band (Roland V-Drums through the Pro8, volume at 12 o'clock and mids and highs also through the house PA is plenty), so stacking F1s on the stage might scare away the congregation- or blow them out of the doors! If I ever start gigging in pubs etc, might up my game then...

Your arguments are valid. I switched from an L1 type 2 which I love still to the pro 32 and I'm very disappointed at the poor frequency response. It takes a lot of work to make these speakers sound good and even then I'm not satisfied with the way the sound is sculpted. I use a k sub subwoofer with it because I don't care for the Bose base cabinets. I believe the fundamental problem is that the line array speakers are too small. I always get a tinny sound that I can't seem to eliminate. If anybody has any idea how to please let me know. I use a single stack for karaoke. Was a fantastic combination with the L1 type 2 but infuriating with the updated Pro 32

I was thinking about buying one, however: - The height is an issue. - FX are super limited unless you buy the extra tonematch, for hundreds extra. - Bags cases need to be bought seperately. You'd think for 3000 they'd include those. Sloppy really. - I don't mind the price, but I do mind all the stuff you need to buy separately for it to work properly for what you need it for.

All points are valid except for 1. Running mono is better than stereo for live events The problem with running stereo in live situations is that the sweet spot is only limited to the area equidistant between the two speakers. All the other areas will be hearing different mixes depending on what speaker they are nearer to. Another problem with running stereo on column arrays(and even point sources) are that they are more susceptible to comb filtering which causes cancellations across the entire frequency range. Comb filtering is the main reason why the sound does not feel “full”. If you heard the effect of comb filtering you will know what I mean. 2. The bottom speakers are not useless. It may seem useless assuming sound travels in a straight line but you need to consider that sound refracts upward when there is a positive temperature change. Putting line source speakers on the floor lessens the drop off in volume due to temperature changes(which is a common problem for column arrays and even compression drivers). That being said I still prefer the f1 series to the l1 because it does not wobble and there are no physical connections that are points of failure. The connection from the columns to the sub are not worth the price for all l series speakers. EV did a better job in terms of construction and materials with the evolve 50s.

Hello sir....i think,i might be able to help you.. If you can play this unit in stereo then you got one foot out of the mud . You have to EQ each one separately to the room.and then balance are tone them together.....as for the bass cabinet try raising it to the height of the top of the stick.raising and lowering it to find the right EQ to the room...ooooo yeah..both sub's should be on the same rack or stand ...one upright and the other on it side.. actually if you could turn the right speaker 😅 stick upside so tweaker are on top.🎉... How,,😂 Duck tape..I hope this works for you and me..i just have two boom boxes that I arranged like this.well one PA with 2:1 and a 2:1 Boom BOX.. when i was a kid i worked the system.a 100th tube system 50 tubes per side and replacing the tubes when they burned out..and i notest the audience never heard the true sound from stage 🤯...and i thought 🤔 you have to separate the Bass 😕 i ask all of the people i ran into anyway.they move that system to Mexico city.and it received an award for best sound system of the year 🤔... But i just got an award for spot light.😅 So my works great 👍...you can send check to me anytime 🤠😂...PS..you might try mixing the larger and smaller subs together and not two large... that's all😊

In past videos you said you don't mind pairing speakers from different companies. I agree the Bose House Sound is lacking clarity on top. I have paired my EV30M with the Pro32/Sub2. Using the App on the EV I can add just enough EQ to bring out the frequencies missing from the Bose. Of course I love the fact that I'm getting sound from left and right. Your response will probably be why should you have to fix a $3,200 speaker? Just a thought if you want to return your JBL PRXs! Shame you bought a pair of Pro32s. What do you do with your gear that is bested by the next find?
@opaz.
@opaz. 2 года назад
No, pro32 with the ev is good, right up my street. If you don't experiment, you don't get anywhere. As you might or might not know. I am all over the place with brands. The average person buys a pa that fits the purpose and "THAT IS IT" job done. Get on with it and start earning.That is the best and most efficient way to be. However what if you're unsure what to buy or can't get to demo product after product. I love gadgets, audio etc and always have. I am always looking out and about at what's new and if it is good I want to try it out. At the same time give back whether it's info through the tube or just advice There are so many that are just like I was years ago before I even had a clue how to successfully deliver a dj performance. They aren't sure which way to turn finding the good gear and eliminating the bad. We all want the best and bottom line, we want to spend as little as possible getting it. Hopefully my tiny input over the net, helps somebody Obviously some disagree and they're opinion matters, not mine Very few item purchases are sold. I experiment with equipment, let other djs, buskers, bands, performers, places of worship, clubs, bars etc etc use them for periods to get their feedback for myself to see how items work or don't at NO cost to them I do still use a majority of my equipment to earn and at the moment it's all going very well. Problem is, there's just not enough hours in the day to do it all

I think Bose systems are like high-end cars like BMW's or Mercedes--they aren't worth the money, but boy are they nice. Not to mention very easy to transport which becomes more important the older you get. I play a keyboard and my partner sings and plays sax. My L1 Pro32 Sub 1 has filled the bill for us in a very satisfying fashion. Yes, I paid a lot for it....but boy is it nice. I don't necessarily disagree with the points made in this video, but in my opinion the pros far outweigh the cons.

The problem with bose is that they are lacking the innovation they use to have, and it's a dumb decision to trust a company when you do not care for real quality. I agree with all the concerns you brought up, bose doesn't fail in making good sound devices they just have fallen back on their names sake when I am no fool and I will knit pick everything a company I trust makes so I know I'm going to be satisfied with my purchase rather then regret it later. You're flat-out stupid if you do not vet your products before buying, I compare every product to every brand before I buy, and I have never been disappointed with anything I reviewed. I guarantee if they cut corners now, they will again, and it will be lazier as it continues. Will not be buying this model and will be keeping bose under the lens of scrutiny from now on.

Being a DJ you would far less notice the mid range detail being lost in a live performance. I think the issue hear is the 2” Cricket drivers cannot produce the mid frequencies properly. Even the S1PRO has better mids uses the same 2.25” mid high drivers the 812 uses. I think they made a big mistake using 2” drivers! The low frequencies are not passed to the Sub until 200Hz. That’s why it sounds like there is a hole in the response of this speaker. They should have kept the 2.25” driver size and improved the drivers and DSP. Mines going back!

I have two L1 Pro 8 and a Yamaha mixer (8 inputs). Still cheaper than a pro 32 and in stereo. I think the 32 is overkill and overpriced. We never have to play to more than 100 people. I can set it up the pro 8 in 5 minutes, the whole system fits in the trunk of my Honda Accord. Here in Florida a lot of gigs are outside on decks bar/restaurant places. The 32 would get wrecked there, all those inputs facing up, the speakers to the floor makes no sense, why not different kinds of speakers in that whole column? I get an amazing sound out of the Pro 8, no one can believe it, they are looking for extra speakers. I have to say most DJ/PA set up I’ve seen are total overkill for the situation.

its not a gimmick, i used the l1m2 for thousands of gigs these are made for artists not really so much for dj's. artists need all those speakers because venues and stages come in many different heights, and most of the time the stage is elevated and the audience seating position is lower than the stage making peoples ears near the floor level of the stage.....if there were only a few tweeters near the top that would be way way over the audiences ears. Bose puts a lot of RnD in their gear and make their products for a reason.

@BillyBlaze7
@BillyBlaze7 7 месяцев назад
@@opaz. meaning that dj's dont usually have the same situations at a gig that performing artists do. Dj's "usually" are on the same level as the crowd or slightly higher in a booth, but not typically at the height of a stage. That is the biggest difference but theres the fact that also the L1 systems are never going to put out as much bass as for instance a powered 18in sub, and that makes them not as well suited for DJ work. As well as most crowds for DJ's are expecting to hear very loud music and the L1 in not designed in that same way. The L1 is designed to not be dependent on loud sound pressure levels to reach the audience, in fact the sound reaches more areas and more evenly than conventional systems but it does so without having to be exceptionally loud to do it, so they dont design them to be super loud. I do agree that Bose does market these for DJ's as well, and yes they can certainly cover a lot of DJ gigs but they won't perform to the same level as a good conventional pa system.

You honestly nailed this review out of the park I been skeptical of those bullshit sticks selling over a grand. Most DJ’s I know would agree with you as well that some DJ’S, NOT ALL buy brand name to say they got that brand name. No knock on them do what you do but don’t lie to everyone else and say they are the best bang for your buck because they are not ! For example, remember when them beats studio headphones came out at a whopping almost $500 ? I thought they were the worst sounding monitor headphones !! The brilliant strategy that beats came up with paying celebrities DJ’s to wear them during gigs, DJ’s seen that and joined the band wagon completely ignoring the specs ! Meanwhile technic headphones selling for 150 sounded better and were 5x less expensive, come on. This is a Problem we are facing in America, marketing strategies design to trick the consumer into purchasing gimmicks and crap product in return for less value on the consumer and more for the star! My audio technicas and technics headphones stood the test of time thru that beats studio phase and proved still to this day that you can’t always throw your hard earned money at these companies jacking up prices just because they great at marketing and paying off celebs. We have to Hold them to a certain standard depending on the money they want us to pay them.
@opaz.

Every word you say is the truth. Beats is just hype, it was always just hype and was selling with even more hype. The companies are getting wealthier, fooling us churning out lacklustre garbage and laughing at the buyers on the street The real long standing products don't need hype, their price point and established quality does the talking And as for having the celebs and influencers on the payroll, that is evil selfishness and dishonesty. Hey OPAZ, I watched your whole video and totally get it that the 32 is not worth the money. I already did see that most reviews are about the 16 and it already looked to me that they are pushing the 16 and 32 because it makes them much more money over the 8. The prices here are linear, which means a 16 costs as much as 2x 8’s and a 32 costs as much as 4x 8’s. Would you say that it would be a good setup to use 4x Pro8’s and having spacious sound that works well for Deep House / Tech House and Techno? Or do you have other models that you would recommend? I’m going out to some shops to test some alternatives like the Yamaha Stagepas1k, JBL etc. Please let me know. 😊🙏🏼

Maybe because ceilings are much lover and space is smaller. Also I’m using mackie big knob to control volume, and it doesn’t give me ability to customise bass and treble. I think that we can all have different opinions, I have owned two L1 M2 with double B2, I’ve had them for over 6 years, we run a wedding planner business, we’ve never thought of changing to a conventional speaker, we do understand however, that other brands are working hard to punch bass and make their speakers louder and at half the cost, our interest hasn’t been to blow peoples ears with the sound but instead having a pleasant sound throughout the entire room, if that was our goal, then we would probably be looking at some RCF or other brands that will deliver louder and punchier sound. I feel like this like everything else, we all have different tastes, I don’t mean to insult, we’ve bought cameras for photography, some can cost 2k some other 6k and there’s a reason why you want to go with something that costs more, not to show off, believe me the customers we deal with they just want everything to be perfect, hopefully at a low cost, they don’t care if you sweep the floors or vacuumed, they want to see it cleaned, a lot of times is just us, our taste. I would be lying if after so many years of using our Bose systems we’ve had at least one come up and say, the sound could be improved, instead they’ll come to us and say, we are amazed the way this sleek design speakers sound, they are really awesome. I much rather listen to what our guests have to say than what other DJ would say, I’ve friends who own conventional speakers and they love blasting it, they think is better cause is louder, when they see our system they go like; maybe try to sell these and buy the brand I got😊 we just smile, for us there are other factors that count, having this great speakers with a sleek design we have been able to store them in a smaller space, and we are so confident when we set these up it’ll do a beautiful job, not jaw dropping but it’ll do an awesome job. If we ever had to upgrade to a larger, bulkie and punchier we would be looking at Bose Showmatch, but we better have an army to move them, and a great chunk of money, while we can carry this with less help, others want to show off with big sounds, and maybe great but not what we want.

I read they are 300W that's terrible for the money they charge. I've used the Bose L1 model 2 for over 10 years + and I can say Bose systems are great for small to medium indoor gigs. Outside can be terrible or pretty good depending on location and wind. With that said most of our outdoor gigs we have to crank it to the max just for the sound to carry 50ft to the bar and if the wind is blowing towards the sound forget about it. The low end is my biggest complaint with bose, it just doesn't carry. You walk 20ft away and most of the low-end drops off especially outside. All in all I'm very happy with my L1 model ll, at least for the acoustic stuff I use it for.

i used mine outside for years on many hundreds of gigs, never had any issue with people hearing in large outdoor spaces. Bose doesnt work like a conventional pa system which relies on directional high spl's to get its sound. its a panaray system and even though its not as "loud" as other pa's it covers a larger area but more importantly it operates in a way that you hear what you hear on the stage at the back of the venue with negligible spl drop off. that being said mine way always loud and clear at the back of the venue and all over the place not just loud and not so clear in one spot like most conventional systems. The T1 mixer is a must though

Have you ever done a left/right comparison of the Bose 32 vs Evolve 50? I have and the Bose makes the 50s sound like toys. That said, I still use the 50s most of the time because they do sound very good when not comparing with the Bose.

The 50 I compared with the pro16 (similar price/size), I returned the pro16 50 & 32 are different categories and different price point

@@opaz. In the video you mentioned how much you dislike the sound of the Bose Pro32. I don't quite get that.

All explained in the upload it sounds like a huge radio, a big full range performance. Not "crystal" clear, just "clear" like a radio (pro16 the same).I have cheaper columns with clearer hf's. The sub2 goes low but it sounds detached from the column. lots of bass but they don't marry together in my opinion, sub rumbles away doing its own thing but no mid punch (fill-in to couple with column). For 3k I expected "wow factor" sound, much more. It's not all about bass Some of my best sounding speakers are disliked by others and vice versa. The more brands with a different take on sound, the merrier. That's what it's all about, something for everyone

@@opaz. I get what you are saying and I find myself not being able to argue. Very good description. My other big column speakers were the LD Curve 500 TS. Very cool system but the sub was too much for me to move around. The Bose also blows that system out of the water with dance floor filling sound even from a distance. The big bonus is its easy portability. No the Bose pro 32s would not be a good choice. For a jazz club or concert hall, but for big weddings I find them flawed but awesome.

@@Grapevine_DJ so you think the Bose Sound better than the Curve 500 ts ?…..

You can adjust the height by only using g one tower. You didn’t know that?

I knew that before I bought it. Half the drivers with all that bass, sounds even worse!

Hi what would you recommend for a PA system for a church that sits about 120 people? We mainly use it for preaching and one vocalist. We tried the l1 pro8 and it way too weak.Thank you!

First thing ; if you wasn’t happy why you just don’t returned the bose pro32? Where I BOUGHT the array they gave me one month for free return no restocking fee and after using this one time i knew it was a keeper! Strong Loud clear sound quality The weight is just amazing light 16kg on sub1 6kg on array 🌝 Set up in 49 seconds!! You are right its plastic and I appreciate its weight! I sold the model 2 and classic because the weight. I have compact AND it is not for more than 49 people that are not eating in silence but pro8 and 32 bose has done well research and development for musicians, the rcf evox12 sound a little better and nice but the sub is more than 20kg alone sooner or later our backs are going to give up. So pro32 expensive but well worthit. Im a solo or duo musician channels are ok but i have 4ts tonematch. Opaz must delete his first video where he defended and praised Bose L1 pro32 😌 This is the second time I watch this video! Before buy it and after… in first time i was agreeing a few things with you. I still think that blue tooth must be stereo even if I ONLY HAVE one Bose L1 pro32

Purchased Pro32 during lockdown, no events allowed till months later (all mentioned in the upload). I gave the pa a chance as it really needed real life events to see how it bears up. Can't return what I haven't really put to the test, especially many months later Many cons outweighed the pros Can't delete the first video "it is true and honest as first impression" The Evox 12 I also have and I praised it in my 2017 upload. 5 years later in 2022, I now state "not worth purchasing it in 2022 as it is now very dated" and there are many better systems available to purchase today.

@@opaz. what system is better than Evox 12 in 2022 ?......definitely not the PRX ONE
@opaz.

Catching up on comments: So many events, on average 4 weddings a week since May. Sorry for the delay In 2022, many pa's have eliminated the use of "attach cables" and are totally cable free. How many channels does the Evox have?. There are multi-channel pa's today with multiple uses. As standard, many pa's have reverb onboard. The evox has nothing As standard, many pa's have bluetooth onboard. The evox has nothing As standard, many pa's have an App for support/control. The evox has nothing As standard, many pa's have ample EQ to tailor the sound. The Evox 12 only has boost The Evox 12 is also a heavyweight at over 80lbs. Many pa's also have the ability to accept Firmware updates that could prove vital for the latest features The jmix8 is testament to all that the dated Evox 12 lacks. In 2022 the latest jmix8 now has all the latest updates and is better than the Evox 12.
