LIVING IN HOUSTON

What's it like living in Houston? Well it's hot and humid, just like most of Texas, and is actually the largest city in the Lone Star State, although the Dallas Fort Worth metropolitan area is actually slightly bigger. It's also, along with DFW, Austin, San Antonio and Houston Suburbs, one of the fastest growing and best cities to live in America. If so many people are moving to Texas, and there is a cheap cost of living, then why shouldn't you live in Houston, TX.

I moved to Houston in August 2022 and I am looking to MOVE OUT of Houston within the next 6 months. OCT 2022 I got in my first car accident EVER in life. Make sure you get PIP coverage on your car insurance at least $5K and uninsured/under insurance coverage on your insurance. People don't know how to drive here, you will get in a car accident! It's almost part of the culture of "Welcome to Houston". The car accident (auto collision) game is very big here! If you need to seek out a personal injury lawyer (DO NOT call GODSEY LAW FIRM - They have an advertisement on the radio saying, " Girl, I just got hit"). They have too many cases and aren't really concerned about your case until it's ready to settle. You'll notice many cars have damage to them (side swiped, rear end, front end). A lot of people don't have insurance coverage and drive around tags expired (fake paper tags) and terrible insurance. I am also in the Galleria area too. I've learned this is a dangerous area. Many areas of Houston are dangerous. The roads are terrible to drive on! A lot of uneven cement paved roads. You also have to pay TOLLS to drive on the freeways (GET AN EZ-TAG) established. Tons of illegal non vetted people harbor the freeways all day. BE CAREFUL! People want to road rage with you, and will purposely cut you off. Road rage is very big here and people will pull out a gun on you. BE READY! Many people have told me - Houston is not the same as it use to be. Watch the news... people go missing and end up dead every week here. GOOD LUCK! Let me know if you need any further insight. I've seen plenty enough to know, this is not a place to be long term.

i grew up here but im outta here. the dynamic has completely changed because of all the folks who moved here to cheer for the Astros from all the places the players come from. driving like theyre running from the police. increasing the economy i guess but ruined the kindness and civility from 25 years ago. they can have it. bye

Thanks for helping me to decide ! I have a friend that moved from NJ to TN then to Houston & is trying to get me to come. No thank you ! I can’t stand extreme heat. Jersey is high as hell but thankfully I have a good paying job & live in a great town & can run to NY whenever I feel like it . I love all the seasons so I’m gonna stay right here.

We've had a few people say they are moving to the Houston area from the East coast? What made you decide to pick Houston as a place to relocate too?
@Quadira6
@Quadira6 2 года назад
Living in NJ & PA the cost of living is ridiculous. We are tired of paying large amounts of money for little space. we are also travel nurses in the tri state area so change of scenery would be nice coming from the East Coast.
@livinginhouston4993
@livinginhouston4993 2 года назад
There are definitely a lot of people moving to Houston to take advantage of the cost of living. Warm weather and no snow is also a plus. As nurses, I'm sure you know that Houston is home to the worlds largest medical center, so there are a lot of opportunities for employment in the medical field. Which suburbs have you been looking at?

The electricity cost is worrying me. I’m single and will have a 1bed room apartment when I move. I’m seeing some apartments using electric for heat? Would you recommend we staying away from apartments like that? I’m from the northeast and we stay away from apartments that are heated with electricity as the cost can be hefty. Honestly the cost of utilities is the only things that’s worrying me about moving to Houston. 😔
@livinginhouston4993
@livinginhouston4993 2 года назад
Unfortunately most apartments are all electric. The good news is that Houston's electricity is deregulated, which means you have the option to shop around to different providers and pick the lowest rates. You can visits sites like www.powertochoose.org/en-us or www.choosetexaspower.org/electricity-rates/houston/ to compare rates and choose a plan that works best for you. Be sure to read the fine print though, some plans may seem cheap but have usage limits or can be variable. Hopefully that helps ease some of your worries. Where are you relocating from?

Considering the price of gas, do you really think that a furnace is gonna be cheaper?
@terranceof2007
@terranceof2007 2 года назад
It’s really not that bad because you only use the heat when it’s cold days but not really constantly in winter months electric is cheap opposed to summer months where you will run the air constantly because it’s so damn hot so summer out that extra utility money away.

Hello Mr. & Mrs. Womack! I like your personalities. I know you are in love. I can see that on your faces. I just subscribed btw. I see potential to group your channel as well. Keep it up! I am planning to move to Houston this summer. I wanted to get into real estate game too. I have never done it before, but I wanted to change my career possibly my life. I am also planning to take real estate agent license. I am not sure yet as to what I will focus on doing, wholesaling, fixer & upper or selling & listing etc. My background is in IT. I wanted to start a small business as an IT firm and learn before I can fully step into real estate business. Do you know if realtors will want to hire IT professional like me for their offices? I know some realtors have small offices and they don't have in-house IT department. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do, go right into real estate game, find a job first or start my own business while learning about real estate? Thank you so much for your video and advice in advance.
@livinginhouston4993
@livinginhouston4993 2 года назад
Hi Peter, thank you for your comment and subscribing to our channel. That's awesome that you're considering starting a career in real estate. I'm not aware of any realtors that need IT support at this time. There are a lot of people that keep their full time time jobs and do real estate part time until it takes off. I'm currently during real estate part time but my wife is full time. I know other people that quit their job and went all in on real estate. They did have savings to cover the startup fees and their expenses until their business picked up, which is a smart idea if you go that route. We would love to talk to you more about your move to Houston and your plan to start a real estate career. Send us your contact information and we will reach out to you with some more info. You can email us at womackrealestategroup@gmail.com or text or call us at 281-826-26323. Hope to hear from you soon.
