While many people want to MOVE TO Naples and surrounding area... many long time residents have decided its time to find greener pastures. When people move to a better place, they sometimes bring their problems with them. You can't call this "Nappy City" anymore.

I love how people just ASSUME I am a failure, assume we don't own real estate and businesses. It's like in their minds they envision the absolute worst they can about me as if that changed the truth about my honest thoughts. Most people you see "look" rich are just in debt to their necks. I don't need a car or gated community to "feel" superior I've lived in gated communities basically A PRISON you pay for.

Please don’t listen to these people saying you’re a failure...you’re absolutely right:salary here in Florida is awful and housing prices are high. Naples is not a place you can get a great job..I’ve lived in Florida my entire life and you’re SPOT ON with what you’re saying.

Jose thanks for this very insightful and accurate video. The rich are always evaluating people like they do their prospective business deals. The rich know who people are right away, like it or not. They judge people by the following criteria: how they look which includes: how they talk: accent, grammatical errors, volume of speech, tone of voice, cadence, emotion, etc.; how they walk, carry themselves, their conduct, and manners. Level of education, elite schools, income, intelligence level; personal style: clothing, car, house, make up, etc.; they assign a class level based on these and other criteria. This is classism as they treat all people this way. You are right. The rich spend thousands on things they never use rather than paying and treating their help well. They don't give enough to charity, sometimes.

I've been in Naples for 12 years now and originally from Miami, this guy is spot on. Unless you are in construction, real estate or nursing you will have a hard time finding a modest paying job. Just keep in mind that most of the Naples residents already lived their lives and enjoyed them elsewhere, not here in Naples.

Florida native and Naples resident since 1970's here... If you moved here 20 years ago (or later) you never saw the greatness that Naples once was. Maybe a hint...but the truly great Naples was already gone. Pre 1990 was best. Back in the day...it was a great place to live and raise a family. There was a sense of community. Everyone knew each other. The schools were safe. The neighborhoods were safe. It was predominantly white. I am not a racist. I am stating a fact. There was very little crime then, petty crime. We left our doors unlocked at home and our cars left unlocked while we were at the beach. We all hung out together. Rich, poor, it didn't matter. There were parties all over town, Port Royal, Olde Naples, the Moorings, Pine Ridge, Naples Park, Golden Gate, we all had a great time together.There were two lane roads, a lot of woods separating the main communities around town, much less traffic, and much fewer traffic lights. You knew the cars your friends drove. Everywhere you drove you saw hands out the car window waving at friends driving by. Fishing was great then. The water was clean. If you had a cut/wound the salt water in the Gulf would literally heal it more quickly. There were plenty of places to ride dirt bikes and go four wheeling, or horseback riding. Camping could be done very close to home rather than driving hours to find a secluded spot to camp. Naples had a warm, friendly vibe, to all who lived here, and to all who visited. Again, there was sense of community, a feeling of ownership, a pride in keeping our neighborhoods clean, nicely manicured, and well kept.. It was like we were all family. Hard to see what it has become. Diversity is NOT our strength. Look at FBI crime statistics. It's not just changing in and around Naples. It is happening everywhere.

Honestly, The rich have done more damage to this town than the poor working class who came here to work. Sounds like an amazing time. There are places in North Florida, Georgia, Alabama that are similar to what you mention now. I got a small glimpse of it, came here in 2000. Its sad. cant take time back. I understand what you mean, remember the people from up north changed Florida more than the working class.
@a.m.8331
@a.m.8331 4 года назад
@FHV you are right, to a degree. I did not cover every angle in my initial reply. The real issues that we face with crime and public safety are due to demographics/diversity...The new money wealth in the area definitely changed Naples for the worse in many other aspects. Naples started to take a dive right about the time that Pelican Bay was being developed...it steam-rolled out of control since then. I was fortunate enough to have lived 8 blocks from the pier in Olde Naples for 12 years of my 40 years in Naples 1995-2007. The community was peaceful, pristine, safe, and beautiful in more ways than one could ever imaging if you had never lived there. I saw the destruction of the Old Florida Charm, erased from our history, more and more each year. And it was heartbreaking... Every year quaint old wooden homes 'the charm of Olde Naples' were torn down and massive fancy homes or condos took their place. The home that I lived in was built in the 50's, sold in 2007, leveled, and an upscale condo is there today. I am so sick of the term upscale and everything that comes with that mentality, homes, restaurants, stores, etc... Back to safety...The exponential crime rate increase is due to drastic changes in demographics/diversity. After the market crashed in 2008 Naples changed worse than I could have ever imagined. 8 years of Obama put the nail in the coffin. RIP Naples.

We moved to Naples 35 years ago. We thought it was beautiful (which it was!) and we ejoyed it to a point. Even that many years ago, we heard from residents that it had changed for the worse. All you say is true. The arrogance of the wealthy residents is pathetic. We were middle class, my husband working for a builder and worked as a Preschool teacher. The well to do would have preferred if all service/trade people offered their skills and serivices from 7 to 5 and left to live outside of the city until the next work day. ALL that you say about the rich residents is TRUE! Arrogant and nasty and cannot be pleased. ALSO: They have no use for kids and teenagers, voting down EVERY possible change to bring activities to Naples for youth.

At least Atlantic City, NJ and Ocean City, Maryland are one of the few beach towns that are still cheap and too low standard for developers to want to exploit. Look at the property values in those cities. Beach front property for less than 500k in AC. There's a nice suburb neighborhood in AC, Absecon, where you can have a million dollar view of the water and city from a big home for around 400k. AC being so close to Philadelphia, I wonder why more wealthy people or developers haven't took over that whole county. Sure, the county sucks and already has been exploited by the rich, but it still has a lot of potential. When I am in NJ or Philly for work, I often make a quick visit to AC if it's a warm season. It has good food, A LOT of diversity, mostly friendly people, has a decent enough beach depending on the water temperature of the day, things are pretty cheap, you can drink booze on the beach without cops making a fuss, play music on the beach without anyone fussing (beach goers there seem pretty chill often), rent a boat for cheap, gas stations pump gas for you, the county has some natural beauty surrounding the city, still has nightlife, and has some fun things to do still despite the current struggle it's going through. It's a crappy beach town, but it beats a crappy overpriced beach town full of snobs anyday.

@@Kehwanna We used to vacation during the summer in Ocean City, MD and Fenwick Island, DE in the 1980s and 1990s from Upstate New York. Is it much different now? It's not Florida, but I still had to be careful about avoiding sunburn.
@Kehwanna
@Kehwanna 4 года назад
@@ts214121 Ocean City, MD is actually pretty nice still. I live in Yonkers, NY and have co-workers that live up here that tell me how they have a great time vacationing in OC, MD and Virginia Beach. Everytime I went to OC, Maryland I had a good time because there's a good deal of places to eat and have a relaxing time. I just turned 30 and I still like nightlife aspects in cities, so I wouldn't say OC has a lot of that aside from the boardwalk, but it's definitely a relaxing place to vacation to if you live up north and just need a beach with comfortable close enough. I personally like OC, NJ better just because there's more to see, do, and eat there, especially since it's right next to Atlantic City's historic boardwalk, but the water temperature there is more hit or miss. In NJ even on the hottest day the water can be too unpleasant, though there are enough times where the water is very comfortable. OC, MD is less crowded than the one in NJ and the water is almost always warm. Both beach towns don't have a lot of crime from what I see and the crowds at both beaches are very nice. The only source of crime you really got to worry about are those thieving seagulls that will raid your beach picnic.

Having attained some level of fame and success myself, and having been in the Nashville music industry, being around Wynonna Judd, Marty Stewart, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, at Moraine Music Group, and later dating the owner of Curb, I can state that the wealthy send their children to private schools, and they shop at boutiques rather than malls, noting that the speaker in this video is confusing the middle class with those of real wealth. The truly wealthy only shun the poor if they fear their moral character might be that of a criminal, otherwise, sympathy seems to be their prevailing attitude toward the underprivileged. I grew accustomed to being around the upper social class, so hearing about this seems foreign, yet since the middle class is steeped in competition, he may be right.

P.S. when I was down there in Naples I was stealing coconuts off of people's lawns. Haha. 🤣🤣

Agree. I’m a native Floridian who moved here from Hollywood FL almost 20 years ago. My biggest complaint is the lack of neighborhoods, not gated communities but real neighborhoods like in KY and VA. Everything here is the opposite. Port Royal houses don’t impress me at all, give me a 1950’s home that’s been renovated by a handyman on a street with space between houses and genuine nice people and I’m happy. It’s not possible here unless you live in the Estates which as you said, is being built on by large companies on literally every plot of empty land. It’s definitely lost that hometown, cozy feel to the greedy builders and snobby officials. Rude people don’t bother me, I whip out my Native Floridian card and wave bye to their Lambos and Teslas ;)

I basically agree with everything you said. The past 5 years have been difficult for my family to just live average lives. Now the past 2 years have been even MORE difficult, and I’m a server at a restaurant plus my husband is a supervisor at a brand hotel and an EMT and we’re still struggling. I don’t understand the real estate situation, it’s disgusting honestly. 1 bedroom 1 bathroom are 1300 plus all the other bills tacked on plus anything else you want and then normal groceries and what nots. It’s horrible, I was born and raised here and as I’m getting older I’m finding myself wanting to leave because it’s just stupid here nowadays because of all the reasons listed in this video. So...STOP MOVING HERE AND MAKING IT terrible FOR US LOCAL PEOPLE! Because you’re driving us out of our community and homes and our way of life down here because you want to live the island way???! No one cares you’re reason because you’ll be gone in a few years anyways while we’ll be still be here but with the higher way of living because you came down and ruined this or that for us local folk. Well done video you were polite and you were careful with most of things and ways you said everything. 👍🏼 haha while I went a little off in my comment 😋

if u MUST remain in SWFL rents in labelle can be as low as $700. quite a drive tho. look up citrus county its very affordable. Inverness, and beverly hills is also affordable. people say BH is bad but, we were there and its no less bad than Golden gate city for example. close to the villages which is fast growing town like our area you can commute. rents up there can be low, 650 to 800 range in some spots. but it will get expensive up there too, eventually if you don't own real estate you will be forced out.. its good to own something, houses in BH can be $65,000 liveable.. ignore the BS online.. remember naples park was a DUMP and how its $400,000 for an old hut

If you've been there 20 years, you remember when they couldn't get people to work for the wages they wanted to pay, because they couldn't afford to live, even in outlying communities. If I remember, the state sued them to force Naples to have affordable housing. Their idea of "affordable" housing was $900 for a 1 BR apartment. Nobody on minimum wage, especially back then, could afford that.

I think we all got the message that Naples is not for you, but when giving reasons why, you used generalities based on your experience. If you had statistics to back your claims, it wouldn’t sound like someone who is unhappy with Naples. Also, for people that have solid and successful careers with above average earnings, want to live in a nice area and surrounded by similar successful people. Unfortunately, you will find the discrimination you mentioned anywhere you go. If you choose to dress and talk differently in your line of business, expect it to have a negative impact on your career. That is not specific to Naples. The only point you made that I can agree with, is the cost of living there compared to other cities in Florida. There are options in east Naples or perhaps communities like Ave Maria that is developed well and more affordable than Naples and still close enough to enjoy the other amenities of the Naples area. It’s what you make it.

I appreciate your conversational approach to addressing your point of view. If I had a net worth 3x larger than what i do now, there is no way i would consider moving away, if you have money.. this place is great. I am in no way criticizing the livability of this town. I don't think living in the outskirts of town is a solution for working class people, its still expensive and offers nothing immediately there. I am right in North Naples, near everything... I would not want to live way out there in ave maria and have to commute into town. But, it is an option. My point of view, is based on what i have seen over the years here.. observation is a form of research.I have lost a massive percentage of my good clients over the years.. they are not moving to california.. they are moving to the areas mentioned in the video. My man, First of all, leaving number 3 aside for a moment, yes you are right about a lot of things and it is happening in the entire Country and almost the entire world. And I wouldn't move to Florida unless you make $100K a year as a couple or over $50k single. I know bc I lived there. Now, I am assuming you are young..I noticed that you had a bad experience with discrimination and with wealthy people. You mention poor a lot..My friend, if you want to see discrimination you'll see it ANY where at some point in your life, including poor vs poor, rich vs rich, black vs black, Asian vs Asian, Latinos vs Latinos...In ANY Country, in any neighborhood, in the 1900's 1950's, 2000's and there will be Forever..It is part of Life. The problem with 2020's is that people don't have that thick skin anymore, we cry and bitch about everything. You can't go through life thinking you are a victim. There is good and bad in every social class, in every race, in every nationality. I am Cuban, I have hit rock bottom and I have been on top of the world, I went from a poor neighborhood to middle class to high rise and not in Miami btw but hard core American, I can't remember one single case of discrimination that happened to me, I am not saying it didn't happen, I am pretty sure it did but I don't know..because I wasn't looking for it, thinking on it or worried about it, and if it did it wasn't for too long bc I prove them wrong with my attitude. ATTITUDE is everything. Some times people are not even bad but just need someone to prove them they are in the wrong. You think you won't see discrimination in a poor neighborhood? in a black neighborhood? latino neighborhood? What you gonna do now, move to a poor neighborhood? Before you change where you live you need to change who you are or you'll be back in RU-vid when you are 50 years old still complaining about discrimination and how you couldn't succeed bc of rich people. There are plenty of Rich people out there that are good people, that worked their ass off to get where they are and there are plenty of poor people out there that are bad people, that don't give a shit about anything and they'll pull you down bc they don't want you to succeed..and viceversa. You have a Talent obviously, you can talk to people and you are creative..use it to change the world. Yes, there is lot of shit that ain't right But don't be part of the Problem, be the part of the SOLUTION.

I live in a suburban community in Chicago and it has been ranked the best place to live in America multiple times. People are wealthy here. I have not experienced discrimination but I am plugged and very connected yet, we have had incidents in this city that have made the news that are not pretty. There has to be consequences for poor choices. I love cancel culture because people can't continue to be bitches and think it will be ok. We are not the richest community in Illinois but we are a very well balanced community. People deserve great pay, big homes, A+ school districts. Educated neighbors. Very social.

Btw, Dont forget to budget in state and sales tax if y'all plan to move to Colorado. Traffic in all hours of the day. Literally from 6am-6PM. Constant road construction, more tolls, vehicle emission laws and a higher median income. If you're not making over 100k yearly its gonna be a very tight budget for your family.

If they didn't they just took items and threw them on the ground and stomped on them and smashed things. This was just pathetic. They had so many donated items destroyed it was just horrible. Where the hell are the Police in Naples.

Yes it is expensive to live in Naples. But crime is LOW. Nearby Fort Myers is really bad compared to Naples as far as crime goes. There is no State Income tax. We do need new options for housing and there is activity in that direction. As far as the racism or better than you attitude you alluded to, I have found that alot of ridiculously racist people I meet are the very people who keep claiming everyone else is racist! Its weak. Too much of what holds people back is bad thinking. Negative outlook. Everyone is holding me down. As long as someone thinks those things, wealth, joy, peace, and the best things of life will hide from them. It all begins in our minds. Think successful. Talk successful. Learn new skills in our spare time rather than watch tv or waste time chasing foolishness. Work hard faithfully. There are so many people with great stories about working hard and living with integrity, who eventually became leaders and business owners.

Providing education, jobs, and Affordable Housing works best. The middle class must do something before becoming homeless. The rich must help. Traditional elite education does not work for everyone. We need jobs that pay a living wage. The elites are eliminating jobs that average folks can do. We need good schools for middle class and poor, who cannot afford to attend elite schools and colleges. We need on the job training for poor and middle class. The answer is not to make the poor and middle class necessarily leaders and part of the elite class. The answer is to provide training, living wages, and affordable housing to middle class; and subsidized housing for the poor. Provide computer and other tech training for average income and poor folks; on the job training for those who cannot afford college. It is not one size fits all. Newsflash: Not everyone can become or wants to become leaders. If everyone were leaders, there would be no leaders. Most folks just want to work and have a nice place to live and raise their families.

well let me give you the opinion of an ispano, I have lived here for 13 years since I arrived in this country and I have always loved Naples fl I am now a professional driver for more than 6 years and I have known all our country with my work I am not of the poor class but I am not rich either and I could also say that Naples fl is one of the safest counties in this country the security that our agents employ is essential, the people of my town are very hardworking (I remember that a few years ago there is still a lot of Spanich population here) today if there is, I would say that 45% are Hispanic only 4% are lower class. The majority are, Cubans and the rest of the Latinos here mixed for example I am Cuban and I can assure you that the entire Cuban population here are nice and classy people with a lot of money here in Naples but you will find us around the city of naples belonging to it, the weather here is hot but not at all to do with other states like Arizona, New Mexico, or Texas. here is less warm a pleasant atmosphere and a town growing every day, the houses here have value for the simple fact that we live up to many better places left here in this country and Naples is worth living here and not Change for nothing else. (The population of Americans here are people retired from the army or in general from their work the vast majority of American people here are of legal age and choose this place to live in a quiet environment where crime and inequality is only 0.00001% of the problems of this country (❤️I love naples because my family is safe here ❤️)

I lived in Estero in the mid-2000's. Hurricane Charlie hit in 2004 and we were without power for five days. All we had was the radio of the local news. People in Naples, who had power, called to complain that they were missing golf on TV. Cannot make this up. We just wanted ice. Now live in NC, and absolutely love it here, will never go back to Florida, too many liberals fleeing Northern Liberal states to get away what they voted for and yet come and vote for it again.

I went to high school here, went away to college and came back. . I am 2nd generation living We who have lived here a long time have seen this place change for the worst, Our roads can’t handle the traffic. When snow birds come down those of us who have asthma get worse!!! . I worked on 5th and can tell you the meanest people were from Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. I Had co workers from there too, Mean as Fuck! they come here thinking they discovered this town and are entitled to special treatment for some reason!! People then go to beaches, throw trash all over, fish and leave hooks all over the beach and do nothing when birds are caught in them. People drive dangerously, they are snowbirds who don’t give a fuck about the locals and decide to make up their own driving rules thus putting everyone in danger! the service people rip you off ALL the time!! the other day i was charged 400 bucks to replace to fill valves in my toilets!! roofers want payment up front, vets charge 3 times what you would pay elsewhere! The business owner come here from up north and don’t pay well because they don’t care about people. Then you have your retired snowbirds who are board as fuck so they work part time for free or for low wages thus taking jobs from others struggling to get buy! All this stress put on beautiful Naples from people who came into this town ruining everything! So yes, locals are going to be snobs because we don’t want you here!!! Also dating, forget it! most who come here are escaping something from their past brining the drama here wether its from not being able to make it up north in a rat race, divorce, addiction, or running from God knows what from their past.!! and if I have to hear the word “up north” again Im going to scream! In my 30 years of experience living in Naples (relocated from New Canaan, CT.) I've found that the vast majority of people who complain the loudest about the lifestyle are those who really can't afford to live here. We can. Built a very nice home on 5.5 acres. What's not to like? Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and Naples may not be for you. Yes, it's changed over the years. What popular destination that attracts people has not? But, on balance, you'd be very hard pressed to find a nicer, cleaner, safer place to live with the bonus of a phenomenal climate. Most newcomers who are unhappy with the lifestyle here are usually 'city' types. This is not the city...Thank God. I had to deal with NYC and metro area for many years, and I love to visit NY, but would never live there again. Yes, I wish it were less busy here, but I'd never complain about being able to live well in one of the most desirable places on Earth...

This video highlights all the reasons why I left the PALM BEACHES in 2004. Every single point made here is the truth!! The cost of living was more and more inversely proportional to the quality of life; there was no economy (false economy, no real goods/services produced to serve the greater economy); the weather was too hot/humid; the people were all a bunch of liberal New Yorkers so that was a problem which leads to the fact there was no culture there either. I returned to the area for my 30-year class reunion and found that those elements STILL have not changed; if anything changed, it's the fact that there's more of the same thing... more of the 5 RE's: retail, residential, retirement, relaxation and recreation. People there have the absolute most expensive cars and houses that money can buy! It must be the state laws that make possible what goes on there. Florida always seems to have attracted "fly-by-night", shady people; the homestead exemption is the root cause. Couple that with NO STATE INCOME TAX and you end up with all the problems that are highlighted in this video. The Florida coast south of Orlando will not be the last place in Florida to have these problems. What drives all the development? New York real estate investors! Highlighted in this video is the development taking place in Naples. Eventually, it'll be so overdeveloped (and so expensive) that nobody will be able to afford to live there anymore. What happens then? People will have BIG passive incomes and everyone else will be poor and will live like it. There will be no in-between. There must be a name for this social trend and Florida is not likely the first place that this has happened in. I'm disappointed but not surprised to see that this is happening on the west coast of Florida, too.

people are moving to naples because 1) scenic beauty 2) good services 3) upscale retirement area 4) return on investment for property purchases 3) low property taxes 4) no state income tax (like other parts of florida 5) outdoors activities 6) beaches 7) fishing, boating --- negatives 1) jobs pay less 2) real estate is expensive compared to the u.s. as a whole 4) not much to do for young adults 5) lack of four seasons...temps are usually 90 or so. even in the winter it's like summer. 6) traffic during high season is difficult 7) overall cost of living is higher here than most cities in midsize cities in the u.s. ...the area is growing quickly because rich retirees buy second houses or condos here. overall i'd give naples an A- for quality of life. the only thing i dislike really is the lack of four seasons. hot and sunny all the time. peter rinaldi, naples collier county florida

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS there are many ups and downs to naples real estate pricing. currently, prices are stable...a little up or down depending on where you are. we seem to have plateaued for the moment. during the great recession, some folks lost 40 percent in value. but if they kept their property, the values went up even higher in 2016-2018. we're due for a correction. when the next national recession hits, expect prices to drop again. my parents moved here in the 80s...prices are up so much than $500,000 condos then are worth $2 million now.if you're going to buy, prices are at peak now...i would wait awhile. renting is very expensive here condo/apartments $1400-$2000. homes, $2500 to $4000 a month and those are homes worth $200-$400k.

They are also the only 2 states that have the capability of growing citrus . Right now this country depends on other countries for 81% of our food . Where will we get our food from when all the farm , ranch and citrus lands are gone . Right now a company called Plenty is trying to make up for the loss of commercially raised food in Florida they’ve started up in California the problem is it cost 8.32 to produce 1 pound of vegetables so your looking at about 12 bucks per pound retail . It’s going to get crazy very soon . The scary thing of it all is what percentage of Americans know how to grow , harvest and preserve their own food ? What percentage of Americans know how to use and also own a firearm ? This country has seen some pretty bad things happening lately but wait until people run out of food lol BLM or Antifa won’t have shit on what’s going to happen then .

I was born in Brazil and move to MA when I was 17 and have been visiting Naples since 1997. Since moving to Naples permanently, I never had to not be myself, I never dealt with discrimination, I own a small business and have been successful, I live in a nice neighborhood and I can go on with many things that's contradict what you said in your video. But again, you say that there is plenty of money here and if you have been here for 20 years and have not been successful, there is something wrong with you (or whatever you said) but again, you say that you can't move here and start a small business and expect to be successful. I think you moved here and have tried to live like it's Alabama or whatever you are from and it obviously did not go your way as this is Naples FL, one of the most beautiful and wealthiest city in Florida. I guess you've had your bad experiences while waiting whatever shorts you were wearing at your job site lol and condemned the city and everyone in it for not fitting in with your Alabama style and ways.

You forgot to touch on the ineffective governance of Collier County. Our local politicians are still running this place like a small retirement beach town and much of our infrastructure is being neglected. Our traffic problems are due to poor urban planning, no overpasses or highways to alleviate the traffic flow. Our public schools are crumbling from mismanagement, underfunding, and massive overcrowding. Most public schools here are over capacity by 50-80%. We can't find/attract enough STEM teachers to provide a quality education. Teacher pay is abysmal, as is most of Florida. Our computers and other technology resources are falling apart, most of our equipment is unreliable or unusable. The only way out of sending your child to a defunct public education system is to pay 20-25k for private education which is unaffordable for most people. We have one of the highest populations of millionaires per capita in the nation, but we can't adequately fund a proper highway or educational system? the property taxes here aren't exactly cheap, so where is all the money going?

If you've got the money, Naples is one of the best places to live. Don't expect to get a nice home near the beach without paying $500K (for starters a couple blocks away). The price goes up fast the closer to the beach you get. BUT, the beaches are very clean and they have a family atmosphere (not party beaches - like Daytona, etc).

Actually 500 k is a very good price comparing to newport beach in california.

Hey thanks for the video. 🙏🏼 Everything you mentioned was pretty much all true. I’m from Naples, lived there for 24 years and hated it. Got out and it was the best thing I ever did. I still live in Florida - Fort Lauderdale - but Naples isn’t a great place to make friends, date, find a spouse, or even be single. Very expensive without the city vibe/benefit being there. While it’s true most of Florida is like this in a lot of ways, Naples is expensive without having the benefits of living in a large city. I love Fort Lauderdale a lot better due to the different cultures, things to do, and huge population. Naples really has no central Downtown and the growth will not affect the city in a positive way. Too many elders and rich retirees will keep it expensive, slow moving, and crowded. There is essentially nothing to do past 9pm, no nightlife, snobbish people all around, and no new ideas/startups. You were especially right when you mentioned a lot of people there are rude/stuck up. Glad I moved.

Lisagrl89 M. Highly recommend it honestly if you like the big city vibe! Not gonna lie the traffic is terrible, but I do love Fort Lauderdale/Palm beach. Ft Lauderdale is a lot busier and more crowded than Palm Beach, but I like how the city is moving and growing. Recommend palm beach if you want to get out of the super crowded city vibe and still want lots to do, but Fort Lauderdale if you want to meet young people, make friends, and stay busy!

Why would we want more poor people to move into Naples?! How does more people in poverty help make a city BETTER? Too much low income housing in Naples and Golden Gate already.

We lived in Bonita Springs 20 yrs. My husband layed brick, stone, marble, did fireplaces for the mansions in Naples. Gated communities. We owned our own home in Bonita Springs Gulf and Country Club. Sold our home in 2007 before the market fell. Made over 300,000 on the home. Moved back to Ohio, where we are from. Yes my husband made a good living because he had his own business. I never liked Florids at all. It grew so fast in population. Just way to many people. To hot and humid for me. Drugs are bad everywhere. But because of beaches and weather its always been a party envirornment.

I live just north in Bonita Springs. Much more space, more affordable, better people. I worked for a high end retirement community until my now government job and can honestly tell you that Naples is NOT a good city to raise children, nor have a small business of any kind. Pay sucks. Like most of Florida. It is mostly service based work. If you’re a tradesperson, waiter or bartender, you’ll enjoy the sun and water and make a decent living. No unions though. Another problem? Like most of America, a shrinking to no middle class. It’s the RICH and the lower class to poor. That’s it. Another point you missed is there is NO AFFORDABLE HOUSING. Not just for the poor, but the WORKING MIDDLE CLASS. Your policemen, firefighters, teachers. Do your research people...The “Old” and quaint Naples is gone. It is for the ultra rich, they want their toes sucked and their drinks topped off. Pronto. One of the snobbish cities I’ve ever encountered and I’ve been all over America and Europe. Peace ✌️

Jobs are becoming slim there to. When I first moved to Florida I moved to saint Pete. Hands down best city in florida that's for sure.
