I love the lore of Red Mage. Not wanting to cause further calamities by drawing aether from the land or the elementals, they draw a small amount from themselves and magnify it with their crystal focus. Plus they roam the land helping people in need. The most wholesome job.
Do not forget the Red Mage is fun and actually functional in every game it is in. I have not played Final Fantasy 14. I have played 19 other Final Fantasies.
Arcanists have a similar lore. But instead of using a focus, they give their aether patterns to follow. Admittedly I think summoner use ambient aether though to weave more complex patterns Into non self sustaining primals.
@@lanceknightmareExcept the first game. Yes, they were "functional" but the intelligence stat was broken. All spells were modified by wisdom. This made Red Mage spells as powerful as the White and Black Mages.
Haha the RDM LB is accurate. Was doing the Nier raid, our party's RDM LB'd and the light was so blinding we didn't see the floor AOEs and all died. It was hilarious.
I really love the Red Mage. It's my go-to DPS in higher or newer content. It's not that bad if I screw up and at times I can save runs^^ I love the versatility and yes, so many outfits look really good when dyed red. About the LB3... I once read a story in the comments. Someone wrote that in an alliance raid the red mages of all 3 alliances used their LB3s one after the other. For about 20 seconds they couldn't see anything at all. Must have been awesome XD
"Red mages have everything, a party buff, cool animations, chain raises." "Oh wow all of that on a dps? It's amazing they can do all that and still do damage" "..." "They still do damage right?"
I was surprised with how much I enjoyed Red Mage, because I don't typically choose the magic classes in games. It seemed like a good middle ground though, so I picked it up, and didn't realise how fast I took it to level 90. And ofc it's great for fashionable glam, I turned it into a Purple Mage masquerade aesthetic and it's probably my best original glam so far.
Red Mage is legit a fun job. I have, unfortunately, run into the problem of pressing a short-cast spell when Dual Cast was up, so I had to press that short-cast spell again to get Dual Cast. Really the only problem I seem to continue running into, but it's fine. My other favorite job is Samurai. The ridiculous amount of damage put out with this job is so satisfying, and it's so easy to play. Its rotation looks exhausting, but it's really straightforward and flexible, and is also just as mobile as Red Mage.
So my cast bar for Red is jolt, white spell, black spell, so I can hit 1 2 1 3 1 2 1 3 and fill my gauge. That way 1 is always a short cast that procs my longs. something activates, then it's 1 and whatever is glowing. XD that's my personal idiot's guide to Red. :D
@@eshbena That's actually how I have my actions set up as well; Jolt, white, Black, and respective procs on 1-5, AOE spells on q, e, r, t; and melee aoe on G, F to trigger long cast without Dual Cast. I have a flow to the rotation, but I'm still not 100% on it every time.
I think the optimisers would chew you out for using Jolt unnecessarily, but the way they solve the problem is beyond the understanding of a simple casual sprout
And now, go alliance raid and use LB with 3!! Red mages at the same time. I'm sure even my neighbours saw the light and felt the calamity. And yes, I was once in such a beautiful raid! But to be fair it was like a range DPS raid only with like only RDM and Summoners. My group alone had 4 RDM and 1 summoner (me) as DPS, it was wild. x_x
Favorite job is Gunbreaker. I love the lore tied into the Bozja incident, the aesthetic of a gunblade and a mercenary. Also, all the VFX's that the job has with the Gnashing Fang Combo and of course Double Down. It's fun to just keep hitting buttons, makes my neurons activate in my brain or something. You should do Gunbreaker :D
Gunbreakers are the worst... and everybody thinks they are so neat to play, cuz buttons... My question is, do GNB's realize they are total garbage from a healer's standpoint unless played flawlessly and well geared?
I love red mage and it is SO easy to glamour them. The mix matcher in me hates how good their bog standard outfits look undyed and fully complete! :D When going into new content with people,. I typically chose based on role... Tank: Paladin Healer: White Mage DPS: Red Mage When I feel comfortable with content I go Tank: Dark Knight Healer: Scholar DPS: Bard
The red mage was the character i have used for the whole msq. My only issue with that class is that the damage feel low and that the melee side of the class is too little
Red mages are one of my fav in the ff franchise their ability to use both types of magic and their style are so good. Bard and red mage are probs my fav classes in ff14 for how they are so versatile in offensive and support skills and got good fits
Although I am a Gunbreaker main, my "mage job" is red mage. I think it is very fun to play, and has some very nice looking glam sets (I do love me the color red). Even my Aura male looks pretty good in those so... win-win.
"A caster on a mobility scooter'', thanks Avy now I am much more confident I will not be made more fun of as a redmage then playing my usual black mage.
Favorite job is Dragoon because Kain highwind, Aranea highwind and Freya Crescent. Summoner because of Rydia, Garent ane Yuna. Monk because Sabin, Yang, and Tifa Scholar is probably my favorite healer because of the fairy. Warrior for the RAGE.
Redmage is one of my top 3 jobs main is gunbreaker followed by Redmage and astrologian, falling off the map is also a constant issue for me lol I actually picked it up along with astro to support my buddy who's maining warrior.
Red Mage : "Res!!! Double Res!!! Raid MVP!!!" White Mage: "Great Work there, Red Mage! We're Learning This Raid Quick, and it's just a matter of time before we got this mastered!" Red Mage: "Yeah, and when that time comes I'll be booted for other DPS... ... ... (Eye Balls The White Mage) OR... They Might Drop YOU, white mage. Raid Teams have been doing that lately..." ;p White Mage: "Not funny bro... (Eye Balls the Warrior/Dark Knight Tank) ... Really Not Funny..." ;.;
Although Im a black mage main I've come to love Red Mage. And yep....can confirm I've backflipped into a death wall during a trial. It was RIGHT after i got raised too lol.
That was the best representation of Verblind that I have seen so far. And I saw people pair it together with the Skyrim intro. x) As a Red Mage main, 10/10, will watch again.
RDM is the only caster (Non-healer) that I can stand in the game. Even then, it's been difficult, not because it's HARD but because it IS so easy to get into. THe back and forth rocking motion of the "rotation" lulls me to sleep!
Red mage is the best, you get some amazing dps spells, and that style is so pimp. FAR more tolerable that blue mage, that job earned nothing but my ire. You can't ever tell me to play anything, I am chaotic. And i will taunt you.
I'm new and started as a healer because I wanted to try this new thing (having a main healer in a mmo), but if healing wont' be for me I will change in dps and red mage is one of the option for me in case healing will go wrong, cause everyone says it's fun and has a pretty easy rotation and video like this are very useful for me ^^ thanks
I started playing RDM around when I started STB for three reasons: 1: Its cool. 2: I wanted a Sword. 3: It can heal and deal damage, and is pretty mobile. It being a jack of all trades made it an appealing option. At first I was hesitant due to Alisaie being one, but then a friend got me thinking of it as like, something to bond with her over. Also Rolanberry Dye is the way to go
The LB3 it's pretty accurate. I remember an alliance raid at the final boss, we casted 3 RDMs LB3 at the same time... Oooohh that was beautiful at least for us 3, dont know for the eyes of the others
red mage is a staple class that my family and friends like for its versitality and one of my favorites. however I'm more of the brawling tank style that suits me and despite me being a simp for ff8 (i love gunbreaker) my favorite tank class is still warrior
Started FFXIV in lockdown, and decided I wanted to do pirate-y stuff. Designed my Roe to look good as a RDM, and now I'm gonna get it for free! Great work as always Avy.
I LOVE RED MAGE and yes we have one of the coolest Limit Break! It's a wholesome job, truly the heart of the party and also looks fashionable as verf***I want to see a video about Dark Knight and Gunbreaker owo
Black Mage is a class for people that min max, do spreadsheets, and are masochists. If you can play it well, you are a freaking divine being, but so few of us are at that level. XD
Having played a smal variety of games with similar in game systems, red mage is definitely unique. I can't really think of another class/job/character that has the same kind of tempo in combat
