I always enjoyed it up there my family where in Greenville had restaurant called Mary’s there gone now we had a vacation home in maple crest miss it

😊yes I agree I was born in long island city new York and port Jefferson NY and I lived in the Catskills when I was 11 and 12 at log cabin we rented It was nice experience we rented the cabin from the farmer next to the cabin all in all it was great

Thanks for a great reminder how great it is here! I’m a Jersey girl born and raised and have visited this area since childhood. I have been lucky enough to live almost full time here since 2020 and appreciate the beauty daily. It’s nice to hear all the other great reasons to appreciate this beautiful place!🙏

We're in the southern Catskills, but I have been to all the Catskills' counties. They all have beautiful scenery, good restaurants, affordable real estate, low crime rates, etc...

Hi Amy I enjoyed this video,I was looking to buy a home in the Catskills I see they are pretty low in price.someone said that the property tax is extremely high that's why it's low is that true?

Thanks....the secret to paying lower taxes in the Catskills is to buy a home in the watershed areas...I mentioned it in my video on moving to the Catskills.

@@louellasween4495 sure, what type of school or location were you considering? There are small and large school districts in the Catskills. Some have great sports programs and others are known more for great academics. Also, some of the counties here are closer to NYC and others are further north.

I am an Earlychildhood Director, so working with younger children. My family and I are not sure which county but definitely an area where it's closer to NYC, mountains, mom and pop stores, fall activities. I love crocheting and if there are fairs there would love it. My lists goes on.

I live west side of Florida I can't stand it I'm 74 lived here to long on SS me and my wife traffic o man terrible apartments very expensive big huge c roaches awful I'm always feeling sick I know I'm 74 I'm am gonna figure out a way to go there Lord willing

Catskill is an amazing place to visit. I love the hikes, waterfalls, Cus D'amato Gym, the fresh air. I absolutely hate the snow and the very dark roads with wildlife around almost every corner. Property value really shot up big time within the last 3 years. Back it 2013 it was so cheap to live there.

Yes, the snow was hard for me to readjust to after living out west for many years. But the winters are definitely warmer now, compared to when I first moved here 17 years ago. It's February, and we have no snow. It was 60 degrees here last week. Crazy! Dusk is the most dangerous time to drive with the deer. I just drive a bit slower and keep an eye on the side of the road. Overall though, I love living here now. And real estate prices are dropping now that the pandemic is winding down.😊

The fall. Is so Awesome. Here. 70 yrs here. An still. Inspite of winter. I love it. But taxs are a bit hi. And some. food places are a bit expensive 😊😊😊😊,

I totally agree.....the beautiful fall season makes the winter worth it. Yes, some things are pricey.....but I do most of my own cooking....I made a lot of recipe videos to document our family's favorites. 😊

I was born and raised in Maine. New York and New England are beautiful. A nice place to live, with ample power and water (we’re built on top of innumerable springs), low crime, but hot summers and expensive is St George, Utah. I live within a short driving distance of five major national parks. See AdventureEveryDay, the Potash drive. I lived in Florida for three years and it is awful! I’m 72 and would live again in Maine but for the winters. They were catastrophic in the 1950s and 1960s. I truly miss the ocean, even still. Most of the civic organizations are heavily influenced, as is the state legislature, by members of the LDS church-very conservative. Most of her reasons for loving the Catskills are the same reasons I still love Maine. I remember my grandmother belonging to the garden club and the historical society.

I imagine the Catskills and Maine have some similarities. 4 seasons, sense of community, beautiful autumns, low crime, etc....I actually have never been to Maine. I should visit there! I agree, I think the winters in the Northeast used to be more cold and snowy than they are now. This past winter, we only had a couple snowstorms. February was dry and warm most of the month. I have only been to the Salt Lake Airport, but it looked nice from the plane window...majestic mountains in Utah. 🏔️Thanks for watching my video!🌞

Best jobs in the Catskills without a degree??

I know people working in different county jobs without a degree....pay isn't too high but benefits are good. There are also jobs you can get with experience like IT jobs at the government and local schools/colleges.

I have read there are many reasons. In some parts of the SW water is routed to agriculture. Also big cities like LA redirect water from rivers to the city. This puts rural communities in danger of going dry. The terrible SW drought over the past decade has also contributed. Although last year, places like California got a lot of rain. I read that they would need a decade of above average rain to truly end the drought. None of these issues exist in the NY Catskills though.
