If the Canon M100 doesn’t meet your needs, here is a recent video on the Canon M50. This camera has a lot of the things missing on the M100: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8eycUpA_ra4.html
you probably dont give a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the new series on Instaflixxer. I've been watching with my brother for the last days xD
Great video, i picked this camera up a month ago as lightweight, casual camera for exploring video so I'm not putting unnecessary wear and tear on my DSLRs. While it is geared towards beginners, a few tweaks in the menu and you wouldn't know. The beginner's fluff is easy to hide or ignore and makes for a great all around camera. I picked up a third party EF lens adapter by Fotodiox for $40 and it works with all my lenses. Yongnuo, Samyang, Sigma, Canon, and Tokina lenses work as they should with no issues, whatsoever. I've learned a lot about video creation and about the video options on my bigger cameras. Ive shot stills for 20 years so getting into video felt very foreign. This camera has made that jump so much more comfortable and nearly perfect. I still have a lot to learn but Im no longer timid about flipping my 5DmIV and 6D over to video mode with the right settings. The M100 deserves far more attention that it has gotten. Your video I'm sure will sell a few units.
Thank you! I'm glad that you're feeling more comfortable using video mode. The M100 is a great camera and definitely gets overlooked. I often find myself using this more than my big DSLRs.
If I want to get the m100 for shooting regular YT videos and I want to adjust the aperture to make the background a little blurrier and focus on my face, can I do that when shooting in manual? I really want the T6i but it’s always sold out in my area so this is my second choice since I’m still a beginner
Yep, you can do it in manual or when shooting in aperature priority mode. This is a great camera, but since you're doing YT videos, I'd get the Canon SL2 or the M50 since they have a mic jack. Also, both have dual pixel auto focus so you can use face tracking to keep you in focus; the M100 has it too but the t6i doesn't have it. Check out my video on the SL2:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ISq7vQgSpNg.html
Thank you for watching this video! If you like this camera but really need a mic jack and a viewfinder, check out my video on the Canon SL2:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ISq7vQgSpNg.html
Thinking about getting the current Canon EOS M200. I'm not a beginner, I'm intermediate. I'd use it as a backup. However, If I couple it with the 22mm f2 lens, it could fit in my pocket. I used to have the one inch sensor compacts, but this is an ASPC which gathers light better. The only disadvantage to no viewfinder is when you're outdoors in bright sun.
I recently picked up this camera to upgrade my Instagram content, I mainly film in a well lit commercial gym. I’m struggling to get the video looking as crisp and clear as my iPhone 13 - is this normal? Or do I maybe not have some settings or focus set up correctly? I’m a complete novice when it comes to cameras and photography so maybe I’m a bit naive? Thanks in advance if you reply!
Are you shooting in 1080P on the camera? The iPhone 13 has the ability to shoot in 4K. I no longer have this camera but I think it only shoots in 1080P. This may be part of the reason for the difference you are seeing.
@@Tfrank22 yes I was 1080p50fps, the iPhone camera does shoot in 4K yes, I read somewhere though that this is simply to amount of pixels rather than the image quality/resolution?
Great review. I have the 77d (same sensor) and the eos R. I bought this new for $269, body only. I like to use 2 cameras so I dont have to change lenses. Felt the 2 cams i already have were too large to do a double sling. This little guy fits the bill perfectly as a "second lens"
I currently have a Canon Rebel T5 and while I like the quality of photos, it’s just so big for me. I don’t really need something that big so I would like to get something a little smaller. I am not a photographer but I have a blog and my social media is active. I want something with wifi that I can take good pictures with but can easily travel with too. Is this camera a good option for me? Thanks!
I want to buy a camera to learn photography. Not so much on videos. I see A5100 has better low light photos. Which do you suggest? Canon M100, M50 or Sony A5100? Thanks!
You’re welcome. I’ve never used a G9X Mark II. I would write down what you need in a camera and pick the one that works best for you. One of the things that makes the M100 a bit more appealing is that it takes interchangeable lenses.
Hello T. After a lot of research and your informative insight, we eventually decided to buy the Canon Eos M100, we got it a bargain price of £249/318 Dollars 318 in a 'Black Friday Deal' This was bought as a travel camera mainly, the quality of images and ease of use is wonderful, it can be used as a point and shoot as well as a higher end camera if I feel adventurous. The only down side for me is that a Canon Wireless Remote can not be connected, also the free download software from Canon will not able me to use the camera from my iMac. Thanks for your valuable advice and RU-vid video.
Hi Sue! Glad you were able to get it at a great price. What are you trying to do on your iMac with the camera? Btw, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thank you for the kind comments😊
@@Tfrank22 It was more of an experiment just to see if I could operate the camera remotely via the iMac instead of thru' an android phone or tablet. Also disappointed that a canon wireless remote can not be used either, something for the Canon boffins to fix via their firm ware/updates hopefully. Thanks for your reply.
Heya. What lens do you recommend for letting in more light (aperture) and also wide angle. I vlog and also make budgeting videos. Picked up the m100 on saturday at Costco for a steal. Looking forward to your response. Love from the UK.🤗💛
@@Tfrank22 💛💛 thank you. I haven't picked up the adapter so I'll be sure to do that once I've saved up enough. Those two lens would I be able to use them on the M50 and also the adapter or would I need a totally different adapter and lens for the M50?
Hey I'm after a sharp camera would this one be the one . I find that once you taken a photo and then upload it to the laptop and find it very pixel blur. How do the photos look once uploaded and zoomed in . On this camera thanks .awesome video
A have a question... For example I am making a video by myself using the canon eos m100, and I need to zoom it in, can you zoom in using the canon connect app?
Hey. Thanks for the review i have a choice between SL2 and EOS M100. Both amazing cameras, almost same price same specs with small differences, can you recommend me which one to buy. Also is it possible for you to do a comparison video of those two?"
It depends on what you will be using your camera for and your budget. If you have more room in your budget, go with the SL2. It has a mic input, more lens options, and better ergonomics- just to name a few of the differences. I plan on doing more videos on both cameras.
hey , great review. i have an option to choose between the eos m100 and the Nikon coolpix b700. I will be using the camera to shoot my makeup tutorials , which one should I get. they seem to be the same price at the moment.
Thank you! Not familiar with Nikon Coolpix b700. I'd recommend the M100 because you can change lenses, and it has Dual Pixel Auto Focus. I think it will be helpful for your makeup tutorials. Just keep in mind that there is no mic jack. You can record the audio separately and sync it or you can make sure you are close to the camera when you are talking. If that is a deal breaker, look at the Canon SL2. Here is a video that I did on the SL2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ISq7vQgSpNg.html
About time you made this video since I know you've sold a bunch of these and several SL2's. I hope Canon is taking notice since #teamcanon has been getting larger because of you. 😉
Great video..to the point.. I have a question..can I charge and use it at the same time? Say for recording a presentation .? Or does the battery have to be removed to charge it?
Very good video i have to say, awesome production quality. I am considering this as a backup for my two other cameras also and whether it will do more than my P30 Pro smartphone. Cheers
@@Tfrank22 I use a Pentax K20D as my main camera, a Sony HX400V as a zoom camera and of course my phone. This type of camera would be the one I have on hand everywhere for those moments that need me to get a RAW image. :)
It’s the size of a point and shoot, but more versatile because of the interchangeable lenses. I wouldn’t say that I consider it to be a DSLR because it’s a mirrorless camera.
@@Tfrank22 Alright! So this is still a point and shoot camera. Last one, question, (I'm planning to buy it soon) does the image and video from this camera are like from a professional camera. I want a DSLR, but it's too big, I just a want a small like this, easy to handle. Thank you! Btw, great review! ☺🙏
Thanks! It’s not a point and shoot camera; it’s a mirrorless camera. This is an entry level camera so the quality is not going to match a professional camera; however, it produces good video with great colors. It’s a great beginner camera and you can always invest in a more advanced camera at a later date.
@@Tfrank22 ok I'll research what are the different types of camera. Thank you so much for answering my questions! It's a big help for a beginner like me! ☺ Take care always!
Hey great video very informative question looking to kick start my RU-vid channel an was wondering does this camera have a Microphone port? Which camera would you recommend that does as audio is important x
The deals for this M100 camera are getting even crazier. I managed to snag it last week for CAD $280 (US $210 ) on a great sale after cashing in on various discounts.
Awesome video!!! Great points.. I love my Canon camera... I seen a colts shirt?? You a fan?? Might be getting Josh McDaniel as head coach so might turn the team around
It’s the Manfrotto MTPIXIEVO PIXI EVO 2 Section Mini Tripod:amzn.to/2pWJKnf. The legs do extend and it also can get really low. Btw, the link that I provided is an affiliate link 🙂
Hi i want to get my first camera but i don't know which one i should get. I will use it mostly for landscapes, travel photos and everyday stuff and photoshooting with my friends. I prefer a mirrorless than a dslr. Also budget friendly since i am a student. Btw nice video. Thank you in advance!
Thanks! I shoot with Canon so I may be a little biased. If I were to recommend a Mirrorless camera for the things you need, I'd say the M100 or the M50. I would also encourage you to find a deal that includes the adapter so that you will have more lense options.
help I bought a nifty fifty and an adaptor for my Eos m 100 but for some reason I can't control my aperture at all and it is super blurry. I already changed the settings so it says to shutter without lens but I'm still having the aperture and focusing issues
Thank you for your review, it is very helpful, perhaps let me make this request - Please be careful if anyone buys Canon EOS M100!!! After many months of studies about this camera, I bought it at a higher price in January 2021 from Canon's authorized dealer in my country. Most essential movie feature, the frame rates - 24 fps and 60fps are missing!!! - - I bought the camera with many hopes, I am really disappointed and frustrated - - My main need was video/movie, but I couldn't achieve it! Anyone who reads this comment, please check everything before you buy this camera in 2021, many features you see in reviews might be gone when buying it new?
Hi, T thanks for your comment, I live in Sri Lanka, a small country in Asia, - the Indian Ocean - When it comes to electronics, in this country we don't have ethical business practices such as good-customer care services, law, etc. Initially, I thought about M200, but it is twice as expensive as M100 (M100 is about $410 - 1$ = Sri Lankan Rupees 195) I couldn't afford it, perhaps, I think, this issue may be there on M200 or M50 as well when it comes to countries like ours. I wrote this, hoping this information will be helpful for your subscribers. Thank you, T I really like your work.
There is a newer version out but I think this is still a good camera. Video is acceptable if you use a tripod or you could put it on a small gimbal. What will you be using it for?
How’s the vlog life on RU-vid and How do you get paid by RU-vid? I’m trying to figure that out because I have been thinking about doing some vlog‘ s just to see.
+Cali4nia Angel Haven't Vlogged on RU-vid just yet. Being a creator is fun, but can be challenging at times. Recently there has been some changes on RU-vid, but you can become a RU-vid partner and monetize your videos once you have 1000 subs and 240,000 watch time hours. There are videos that can give you more info on how to get paid on RU-vid just search for Roberto Blake's Channel. My advice is if you are truly interested in creating, do it because you have a passion for it and the opportunities will come later.
If you need a mic jack, check out the M50 or the SL2. I should have some videos coming on the M50 and here is one I did on the SL2:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ISq7vQgSpNg.html
@@Tfrank22 I am looking for an entry level mirrorless camera, but I fear the m100 is a bit old model and I was trying to look for newer ones. I checked the fuji x-a5, the xt100 and the canon m50, but latter two are maybe too expensive for my wallet
Tara Buso pick up what you can afford now and upgrade at a later time. Not sure if you are doing mainly photo or video, but I’ve seen some pretty good photography with this camera and I’ve have used it for videos as well. Pair it with some nice lenses and I think it’s still a good entry level camera. I’d still recommend it or tell you to try to find a used M50 in your price range.
You've made a great video here. I'm looking for an opinion. 🙈 I went to get the g7x yesterday, and I was told about this camera. Now, I'm torn between which to get. I want to vlog and do sit down videos. They are similar, but I think tge g7x is more compact, but then the ability to change lenses and the larger sensor sounds awesome too. Which would you suggest?
Thank you! I was also deciding between this and the G7X II. The interchangeable lenses is what sold me. This camera is still pretty compact; pair it with the 22MM and it will be even more compact than with the kit lens. Just keep in mind that there is no mic jack input on either of the cameras. I've also heard that the stabilization is better on the G7X II...it's not that great on the M100. Appreciate your comment😊
Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm going to end up watching your old videos because I have so much to learn, and you provide such quality info. I'm hitting the subscribe button. Gotta support what's good!
I think the M100 is a good starter camera, but the kit lens that it comes with is just okay. The lens I would recommend picking up after using the kit lens is the 22mm, which normally starts around $249. Do you have a budget?
Haha...go with Canon SL2. Catch it when it's priced at $599. Learn to use the kit lens first. Then get the 50mm F/1.8...you'll get great pics of your family.
Go for SL2. Its smaller than most cameras and it has external mic. Although m100 is also a good one but when it comes to lenses you are limited. I have mirrorless camera for travel.
