San Francisco is a terrible place. If you live there, this is no surprise. Here are ONLY 10 of the reasons why you should never move to San Francisco.
There’s a new man in the neighborhood.
Lives downstairs and he underfoot
Here’s there just to ask me for money
Like he’s one of the family.
San Francisco Oh we’re so over it
San Francisco Oh you used to be lit
Cause you see - now you’re not a place for me.
San Francisco Oh we’re so over you
San Francisco Oh you are now all bad
Cause you see - I don't want no more bad on me.

I live in the Bay Area. I wanted to watch this and complain about how ridiculous your reasons are. But everything you say is correct. I retire in 2 months and I am already packed to move out of CA completely. I will enjoy my future visits but I don't want to live here anymore. The worst is the politics that creates the homeless and addict epidemic and the smash and grab gangs sponsored by overseas criminal organizations that terrorize every citizen who has to park a car on the streets.

When I was a kid (in L.A.) visiting San Francisco was a treat. It was swanky, elegant a bit snobby. Years later, when I visited again, I was followed around by a bum. So sad to see the decline.

As a native Californian and a resident of SF for 52 years, you are absolutely on point. SF is not want it used to be or will it ever be. Yuppies and gentrification have taken over the City. Neighborhoods are disappearing such as the Fillmore, Western Addition, the Mission, Third Street, Hunter's Point etc. The flavor and ambiance of SF no longer exist. Sad but true.

Born and raised in SF for 25 years. Than I left. Was living in Sacramento for a while where I was still close enough to visit SF again. But I found each time going into SF gave me mental anguish, too much traffic, hard to find parking, long lines for every restaurant that's worth trying out. Than the cost of anything there was arm and leg robbery. I can't stand any of the housing there, it's either old and moldy or cramped and small, I don't need a 5 bedroom McMansion but I still like my space. The homes are so tightly packed that one neighbors rat or roach problem becomes 4 other neighbors problem too.

@@NickJohnson There always needs to be a little yin to the yang. Republicans/Democrats are in an eternal false war with each other and are far more likely to clean the other's house than their own. As semi-stressful as the Clinton years were with a hostile Republican House, at least the US managed record breaking surpluses, and Congress still was able to collaborate between parties. The tax raises were actually accomplished by "read my hips" H.W. Bush, and maintained by Clinton. A relatively conservative decade that was fairly balanced because neither conservatives or liberals were running the show and therefore it lacked groupthink excesses. As someone who lives in Dallas, society runs a little liberal these days in a way it used to run conservative in the 90's. I can't imagine San Francisco has any natural protection against unchecked liberal egos.

Gosh you made a great choice. Believe it or not San Fran had won, for like 4 or 5 years consecutively, an award for "The Cleanest Big City in the USA" This was in the early 1990s. I was a student at UC Berkeley and my wife was crossing the Bay Bridge every day to attend UCSF. We'd go to Fisherman's Wharf, Pacific Heights, all the neighborhoods, there was no homeless problem, there was just a huge tourist- and student-friendly city with a lot of cool things to do - SAFELY. What people don't know is, turning large parts of California into drug havens benefits a certain group who have a long history of 'owning' politicians. The chaos, the hopelessness sells dope. The fact that San Fran now has, as part of their budget, a large ongoing expense item for drug needles - that's all we needed to hear. We got out of that state in late 2017. We thought we were late to leave because so many of our friends had already left. But my god it got so much worse after we left. Your decision was probably one of the best decisions you have made - the good things that attracted people to that city and state are sort of gone now. We moved to a state where gas is $2.50 a gallon, there is no state income tax, we bought a large 4 bed/3 bath custom home, with a huge pool in the back yard, on a 1/4 acre in a gated neighborhood in one of the most exclusive zip codes in the county for $375,000 in late 2017. San Fran and Silicon Valley have a 'sketchy vibe' now. Crime has gotten way out of hand. Gangs from the immigrant population are a big part of that, and the massive homeless population, and the druggies. The entire area IS SHOT. They have blown it to pieces. The state has so much going for it. But it is being very poorly managed. It's sort of like if a great company suddenly got very bad management and employees were unhappy - they would leave the company. . .

Each city I've lived in has had both things to love and things to hate about it. Your political party is barely relevant in the equation, although I agree SF leans heavily on the liberal side. I've been in the SF bay area for a little while now and despite the crazy high cost of living here, I like it so far. It's not for everyone. You just have to have realistic expectations.

This is written in the narrative of a 'takers' perspective. "What will this city give to ME, how does it meet MY needs, etc.." As you said, like anything really, you get what you give. I've lived in SF 5+ years so no not a native but enough to have some say in the matter, and yeah the rent sucks (you can get a decent 1 bdrm apartment for $2k/mo btw), parking can be a pain, homeless is an issue and so on..but if you take the time to learn the issues, know your neighbors and support the things you care about you may have a different perspective in the end

Well said. I feel if its not for you please leave. The city has an atmospheric behavior about it thats beyond the human on human experience. 80s to 90s was when it was like mecca for punk, indie, alt, artist types as well as one of the safe cities for LGBT+. The state governors should have done more to encourage tech companies to headquarter in LA, San Diego, Sacramento, or even San Jose. All of them have far more space and would do less damage to those cities and their culture. Silicon Valley should not exist, it should just be considered a nice suburb area of SF. City would be much better right now if it weren't ground central for tech.

Being from the Bay Area a lot of us love to bash San Francisco for what it's become. However, it's left wing politics is prolly one of the many reasons COVID never really became an issue. I went back to SF this past week, and the city was back to life. Apart from the Tenderloin, the homeless were barely visible. Tech may have made people snobbier, but there are still a plethora of open-minded people who are easy to talk to. I think the city is great despite everything listed in the video.

@@HenryPPMN - No it's not. The Corrupt Politicians have destroyed it. The crime is off the rails, and the criminals have been enabled/ given a free pass. Walgreens has closed 12 stores in SF, and others also have closed (or are considering it). The Plandemic hasn't helped things either. I have a friend who lives in SF and his car has been broken into twice in 2 years (laptop and other valuables stolen). I'm SF born and raised for more than a decade in the 1960s until we moved to the Peninsula and then South Bay in the 1970s. I was a Democrat my entire life until a decade ago. Anyway, I remember what the entire region used to be like (60s, 70s, 80s, 1990s, etc.) And it has changed for the negative a lot since the Democrats took exclusive Authoritarian One Party control (a corrupt Communist Kakistockracy of sorts).

I’m sorry but your use of the word “plandemic” sort of diminishes your credibility from my perspective. So sad. My first impression of the States was when I landed there in the late eighties and SF was a cool place to be. I've been to other places in the states since and one of the things that got me about SF was that it had history. Not to much concrete and steel and I loved the hills, the Victorian buildings, the parks and the bay. To be honest though a lot of the criticism on this video could be levelled at many western cities. I loved London for the twenty years I lived there but it had it's rough areas and now it's far too expensive and restrictive. Everywhere has got much more dirty with a lot of homeless people around but that's more to do with the way society has developed with the rich getting richer and the poor being left behind. I still want to go back to SF someday when we've tamed this Covid situation, in fact I would love to do a whole stateside tour if I get the chance...

The decline in the quality of life begin in the year of 1979 when democrats like Dianne Feinstein got put into office as mayor of S.F., she begin messing with 2nd amendment rights and other issues involving taxes and small business owners. And rent and real estate property prices began the upward increase. Yes it's true the democratic leadership destroyed this place one after the other. Come on, only 30 minutes to find a parking space? That's a good day. I've had times after spending an hour I almost gave up. You left out how the city and county of SF actively prey upon tourists and locals alike with their aggressive, parasitic policing of rules, laws, ordinances, missing eroded street signs, parking meters, one way street traps, car pool lane signs, speed limit signs, and others which don't exist or are impossible to see yet every traffic cop knows where they are. They know law abiding people will pay their fines so that's who gets targeted. I live in the Bay Area and worked in SF but haven't been back in years, it's just not worth it. Check it out from Marin or across the bay, you'll be better off.

I know what you are talking about. I was pulled over for a California stop. They were doing road work in the Marina District a few years ago. They had cut down a four lane road to two lanes. I stopped at the first stop to make a right turn. I moved up to where traffic was and stopped again. The jeep to my left waved his arm for me to go first. I made my right turn and next thing I'm getting pulled over by San Francisco's finest. Yes, I know being a middle aged, closer to senior aged speed demon in his hot rod Prius must have really rubbed him the wrong way. I was treated like I had committed murder. I was very calm while this cop was literally yelling at me about running the stop sign which I and my wife both knew never happened. I think because my license plate frame said Los Angeles on it, he knew that it would be easier for me to pay the ticket then fight it. He was right, and of course after we parted ways he followed me for a couple of blocks then made a turn. Right after he turns another driver blew though a stop sign and barely misses hitting me and the pedestrians in the cross walk that had to jump to safety. He probably would have shot him. And yes it smells like urine in many parts of the city. When I visit, I always stay in the Marina District. At least the Marina District was nice the last time I was there, and that was three years ago. A family friend was visiting SF. Right after he got off BART he was sucker punched in the face by a homeless guy. He never saw it coming and ended up in the hospital. Great place.

We used to call DPT Department of Public terrorism. After you spend an hour or two looking for a spot how many times did you forget where you parked it? Then spend days trying to find your car and call it in stolen!!!! No Lie I've done that.

@@rickloera9468 Marina Blvd stop signs are a Willie Brown special traffic trap. He wanted to slow down traffic and instead of listening to the city traffic engineers, he forced them to install stop signs. The appropriate response would be to signalize the intersections and time them for 25 mph. Now, everyone runs through the stop signs and people complain about it, so the police are sent out to ticket people like you. The far-left transplants are convinced that stop signs here are fine since they slow traffic. Problem is that you're suppose to stop, not slow down.

After 30 years, left my City by the Bay. So sad to see it in ruin. The summer of love was replaced by the winter of greed and we humans are the enemy. Fortunately, all those poets and artists that had a flat in North Beach and poured coffee for a living are gone from making the scene... they would be heartbroken to see it now.

I lived in San Francisco for 6 years, moved back to Virginia and you know what. San Francisco is the best city in North America period. For all the those scenes you show, that's .0001 % of what San Francisco is. Hey it worked though you got a lot of views. Question to the author? How long did you live in San Francisco? What a joke. The footage you show is from the 70's. The reason there is so many homeless because the weather is so perfect. Every city is expensive these days. If everyone is leaving the city than why would the rent be so high? Wouldn't rent be going down? Gimme a break. The weather is sunny during the day, 70 degrees all year round, no humidity, no mosquitoes, and than at night a nice fog comes in. Cleanest air in the world. Gimme a break you don't know San Francisco it's way better than your city, trust me

I live in the Sunset district in SF and it’s nowhere as bad as you say it is... I don’t see a lot of homeless, I don’t see a lot of sh1t, the people are not bad at all (probably because they’re mostly Asian), politics wise, idk much so no hate pls. Edit: btw, I honestly think all the negative points of San Francisco, and California in general are exaggerated for propaganda purposes. Change my mind.

Yes. My work took me there for awhile. The crime. It's actually a very dirty city. Homeless. Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles. San Francisco - how do people survive. The cost of housing. A weird thing; the sunlight is strangely harsh to eyesight. It's crowded. Traffic is nightmarish. While I was there, a police car siren screamed every 5 minutes 20 hours a day. Of course, the cost of living.

I'm from the Bay Area. San Francisco is my LEAST favorite international city in the world (btw, I am well-traveled, yet this isn't coming from a "grass is greener" perspective). I do not recommend anyone travel to San Francisco. Unsafe, everything is expensive, smells of urine, and not a good value for money.

Finally a video thats actually accurate on the city. Gentrification ruined San Francisco. Ive been in raised in SF since the age of 4 in '92 A majority of the SF natives were pushed out once Uber/Lyft/Twitter etc.. all started coming. Up till maybe 2008 it was fun for everybody & It was always something to do. One thing I used to love the most was how much it used to embrace diversity. You can literally feel and see racial tension damn near everywhere in the city. A lot of these suits & techies carry a lot of standoff attitudes as well. All the locals stores/shops/diners are closing as well. All the cultures of the neighborhoods are being ruined by the day especially The Mission, Fillmore, even Downtown market st. etc.. I drive public transportation here & as I drive through the streets I cant help but get sad or irritated how its changed for the worst especial traffic wise people & vehicle.

A city that prioritizes compassion to the homeless and/or undocumented has an increasingly difficult conundrum within the context of the national direction that's either moving otherwise, or isn't responding to the needs of those who are most vulnerable and/or ostracized in society. If you are a city that isn't going to arrest, deport, or "punish" vulnerable people, then they are more likely to come to your city. These are national issues that are being consolidated in fewer and fewer locations. I don't know what the intention is, but if it's to make compassionate policy cities absorb a national problem, then it's working. If it's also the intention to break the cities of their compassion, then time will tell if that works too. As for the shit on the sidewalks, it's not hard to understand that when people are treated like animals, they start to behave like animals. It's all very sad to see. The tension between the tech money and SF legacy residents is a completely other story. Money has always made the decisions in our society, and those with the most cash usually win. They get to go where they want to because they have the means to do so. The only thing that's going to change that dynamic is when the money wants to go elsewhere. Will the aforementioned problems in SF cause that to happen? Who knows? Time will tell.

I traveled to San Francisco with my acoustic guitar thinking if I busk I could make some good money. People were walking right past me with earbuds. I didn't make a single dollar. I was so sad. On top of that I bought a coffee from Starbucks only to have it stolen when I wasn't looking. I hated my experience in San Francisco. I envisioned something entirely different.

Weather is so much better than other places I've lived (Midwest, East Coast in multiple spots, LA, DC). Yeah, it's "cold" half of the year, meaning you need a light jacket. Much worse in many other places of the US. You also avoid significant heat, making it better than nearly all the other places that don't get that cold. Also, 85 cars are not broken into here in SF each day. It's way more than that, but many go unreported because the police don't do **** because the current DA doesn't prosecute criminals.
